View and Navigate through PDF´s on a DB2 SQL Query

Hello,
We need to create a windows forms application in .Net to view and navigate through pdf´s that are located on a DB2 Express SQL database using the Acrobat SDK or PDF Library.
The idea would be to query the SQL table and the result we should be able to view and navigate through by using the viewer procedures from the SDK without having to send the PDF files to a temporary folder on the hard drive.
So for example, if the query returned 20 pdf´s, we should be able to navigate and view these pdf´s on a windows form connecting directly to the query via streams or a data source.
We assume that what we need is some sort of procedure to connect the viewer to the query through a data source.
Please help us to research about this and determine if this is possible.
Thanks.

Hello lrosenth and thanks for your reply.
Our goal is to develop a Windows Form in .Net where we could view the pdf without launching Acrobat.
I guess you mean that we should develop a plugin in C/C++ for Acrobat, but that is not what we intend.
Is there a way to develop a function in .Net that will allow a Windows Form to read a stream with a pdf using Adobe ´s SDK or PDF´s library?
If so, would you be so kind as to point us to some reading material?

  • Create folders and navigate through server folder structure in Linux

    Hello,
I want to know if there are any examples on how to reate folders and navigate through server folder structure in Linux OS. I currently can navigate trough Windows, but need to be able to do it in Linux, by using a GUI for it.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

    Hi Bebeto,
Would you please clarify your question a bit for us? Are you trying to implement something like Windows Explorer in your application? Also, are you looking for a tree-like display structure, or list of folders that you can drill down into (i.e. double click to enter into that that folder). My understanding from your comments is that you have implemented something like this in Windows, but not Linux. It this correct? Also, are you looking for advice on the GUI creation side of things, or the programmatic access/creation of files and folders? The more you can clarify your question for us, the more the community will be able to provide feedback and suggestions to help you get on track qiuckly.

  • Viewing and printing a PDF file from Java Swing Application

    Hello,
I need to view and print PDF files from Java Swing Application. How do I do that?I appreciate your help.
    Thank you

If you have a link to the URL pointing to the PDF file, you can allow the browser to open it. Then use the print function of the browser to print the PDF document.

  • Problems with fast web view and really large PDF files.

If "allow speculative downloads in background" is set then the Fast Web view becomes nonfunctional.  Reader is makeing the HTTP Byte range requests but will ask for almost the entire PDF file in one range (180 MB of the 182 MB file).
If "allow speculative downloads in background" is not set then Fast Web view is working fine, Reader is making more HTTP Byte range requests but the larges ones are still small 20K or so.
Is this behavior being experianced by anyone else?
What are the disadvantages, if any, of having "allow speculative downloads in background" turned off?
    My environment:
182 MB pdf file (Optimized) around 41,000 pages.  I have also seen this with 42 MB and 25 MB pdf files.

    Hi,
The signing tool use Capicom (Library from .NET) to generate attached digital signature. I also tried signing with .net class SignedCms but the result is the same. What I don't understand is why some PDFs are working and others are not.
For example, I uploaded here a signed PDF which can be opened up succesfully: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/104591126/PDFs/Signed_Dummy1.pdf  (it is the same PDF but I didn't enable the fast web view)
Can you suggest other signing method?
    Thank you.

  • Using '(' and less than operator in an xsql page sql query

    Dear All,
I tried to use left parenthesis '(' and less than operator in an sql query through an xsql page, it doesn't let to use them.
Do you know how to use those in an xsql page?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mustafa

Following is the xsql page that I tried to run:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xsql:query xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql" connection = "bib" rowset-element="bib" row-element="book">
    (SELECT year,title,last,first,' ' as affiliation,publisher,price
    FROM book,author
    WHERE year=2001 and bookid=parentid
    UNION
    SELECT year,title,last,first,affiliation,publisher,price
    FROM book,editor
    WHERE year=2001 and bookid=parentid)
    INTERSECT
    (SELECT year,title,last,first,' ' as affiliation,publisher,price
    FROM book,author
    WHERE publisher='Publisher1' and bookid=parentid
    UNION
    SELECT year,title,last,first,affiliation,publisher,price
    FROM book,editor
    WHERE publisher='Publisher1' and bookid=parentid)
    </xsql:query>
This is the error message generated after running:
    <ERROR>java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01009: missing mandatory parameter</ERROR>
When I remove the parentheses it works but this results in a different result set.
Can anybody tell me the reason?
    Thanks,

  • SSRS Report Viewer 2012 Cancel Link on loading spinner not stopping SQL Query

    Hi
I searched the forum for this one and didn't find anything germane, so here goes.
In SSRS 2012 when running a report interactively if you hit cancel it basically does nothing but stop the spinner and prevent the request from completing.
I'd like to kill the SQL Query (dataset refresh) when the Cancel link is pressed.
I recall seeing on article somewhere about doing a callback and calling some other method on the web service to kill the query, but I can't find it now.
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi James,
In SQL Server Reporting Services, a job will be created by SQL Server Agent if any of the following processes is underway:
query execution on a remote or local database server
    report processing
    report rendering
To cancel a job that is running on the report server, we can cancel the job directly or reduce the report execution time-out value in the SQL Server Management Studio. Please refer to the steps below:
Open SQL Server Management Studio, and connect to "Reporting Services".
Under the Report Server node, right-click on the "Jobs" folder and select "Refresh". Then, right-click on "Jobs" again and click "Cancel All Jobs".
Right-click on the Report Server node and open the "Server Properties" dialog.
Click the "Execution" option, and set the "Limit report execution to the following number of seconds:" to a much smaller number. After this issue is resolved, this configuration should revert to the previous state.
    Reference:
    Managing a Running Process
Setting Time-out Values for Report and Shared Dataset Processing
In addition, we can also use the KILL Transact-SQL statement to terminate a normal connection by terminating the transactions that are associated with the specified session ID. For the details information, you can refer to:
    KILL (Transact-SQL)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • PDF documents stored in R/3 and viewed and printed through MSS

    Hello,
We are having a requirement to store documents (like performance reviews or resumes) in pdf format in SAP.

  • Retrieve URL from database and navigate through command button

I am new to ADF and Jdeveloper. In our database we store the URLs to our help/FAQ webpage in a table. What I would like to do is retrieve this URL from the database and code a command button to navigate the user to this URL but I am not sure how to accomplish this and have not had any lucking searching for a solution. I have created a view object for the table that contains the URL. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Welcome to OTN.
You can create a view object based on the table (on which you have the URL stored).
Create a goButton (Instead of a command button) and bind the column (which stores the URL) to the destination property of the go button.
    Something like
    <af:goButton text="Help" id="gb1"
                        targetFrame="_blank" destination="#{bindings.URL.inputValue}"/>-Arun

  • Problems viewing and printing fillable PDFs

I had made some fillable pdf application forms using Acrobat 9 for Windows (sorry not sure which version).  We sent the forms to some people, they filled them out and sent them back.  When I opened some of the forms (not all), all of the fillable text boxes still looked blue like they were empty, but when i clicked on the text box the information which had been entered appeared.  However, as soon as I clicked on another box, the new box's information would appear and the old box's information would dissappear again.  If I printed this, the printout would look like an empty form.  I tried on a few colleagues' computers and the result was the same.
I remade the forms in Acrobat X and it seemed to have fixed the probelm, but I recently recieved a form back (on the Acrobat X made form) and it had the same problem.  I have had to manually copy and paste the information into another blank pdf and then save that when this problem occurs.
I'm confused because it is not happening every time and every application.
Any ideas?  Did I create the form wrong?  Does it depend on which program they used to fill it out?  (I don't know what program the applicants are using to fill
    them out).
    OS: Windows XP
    Acrobat X - 10.0.01
    Thanks,
    Alex

Hard to say whether you created it right or wrong without seeing an example but yes, it does matter what they use to fill it out. Some (dare I say most?) third party PDF viewing applications do not handle Adobe forms well if at all.

  • Unable to view and navigate iTunes Store

    Hello All,
Hoping for a little help in diagnosing the problem I'm having with the iTunes Store since updating to 9.0.1(and 9.0.2).
The store connects but the homepage images and text are now positioned to the far left of the page and the text is hyperlink style. When I select an album cover the status bar on the top shows the page access in progress but no page loads. After about a minute, I get a error message stating that the "request was timed out."
The iTunes Store diagnositic check indicates that all connections are working but obviously there is something wrong.
I've added the latest XP updates and have checked all firewall/security setting are correct. I just can't figure out why the page format is off and why the rest of the store is unacessable.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks.

Warning in advance, Tom, this is going to be experimental advice. But if you're game to try some experimentation ...

This may be an issue with your *Apple Application Support* rather than your iTunes itself. The new iTunes 9.0.x Store interface is webkit-based, and a bunch of the webkit machinery (including the webkit.dll itself) is stored in the Apple Application Support program files.
So let's try uninstalling both Apple Application Support and iTunes, and then reinstalling iTunes (which should also reinstall Apple Application Support).
    Preliminaries
First download and save a copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive (don't run the install online, and don't run the install just yet):
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now quit QuickTime and/or *Safari 4.0.4* if you have them open. (Both use Apple Application Support, and they will interfere with the Apple Application Support uninstall if they are open.)
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your Add or Remove Programs Control Panel.
    Uninstall iTunes.
    Uninstall Apple Application Support.
(From this point onwards until Apple Application Support is reinstalled, if Safari 4.0.4 is present on your system it won't be able to run.)
Next we'll clear away any leftover iTunes and/or Apple Application Support program files and folders.
    (1) Open Local Disk (C:) located in My Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files folder.
    (3) Right-click the iTunes folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if iTunes was successfully uninstalled.
    (4) Open the Common Files folder.
    (5) Open the Apple folder
    (6) Right-click the Apple Application Support folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if Apple Application Support was successfully uninstalled.
Empty your recycle bin, and restart the PC. Now try another iTunes install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Does that install go through okay? If so, does iTunes start displaying the Store properly again?

  • JPQL: FETCH and navigate through a @OneToMany relationship at the same time

    Hello!
I have three entities A-->B-->C, where the arrows denote @OneToMany relationships. I would like to form a query that returns A objects and prefetches all associated B and C objects. Is this achievable in JPQL?
My failed attempts were (I'm using EclipseLink):
    1.
    SELECT a FROM A a LEFT JOIN FETCH a.b LEFT JOIN FETCH a.b.c WHERE condition;
This fails with an error: "cannot navigate collection valued association field "
    2.
    SELECT a FROM A a LEFT JOIN FETCH a.b AS b LEFT JOIN FETCH b.c WHERE condition;
This fails with "syntax error at [AS]"
    3.
    SELECT a FROM A a LEFT JOIN FETCH a.b LEFT JOIN a.b AS b LEFT JOIN FETCH b.c WHERE condition;
This query succeeds, but does not prefetch the C objects.

OK, the answer is negative - it is not supported in JPQL.
But it should be achievable with EclipseLink-specific @QueryHint LEFT_FETCH
    http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink/api/1.1/org/eclipse/persistence/config/QueryHints.html#LEFT_FETCH
Unfortunately I get an exception when I use those hints, but that is probably an EclipseLink problem.

  • DROP TABLE works through SSMS but not via T-SQL Query

    Hello All,
I am trying to drop a number of tables (1,000+) in a particular database by scripting the actions in T-SQL. When I run the query I get error 3701 on every table which points to a permissions issue. However, I am able to delete tables one by one using
the tree-view in the SSMS Object Explorer.
    1. I have tried starting query sessions with both the DBO of the database and the SA account to no avail. (Both had the sysadmin role when I tried.)
    2. Both the DBO account and the SA account are able to drop tables using SSMS Object Explorer.
Do I need a specific GRANT of permissions to use T-SQL versus SSMS or am I missing something even more fundamental?
    TIA, Simon

3701 = ...does not exist or you don't have permission.
Most of the time it means the former. So there are probably some problems in your DROP TABLE statements. Since there is a whole lot about Navision in the script, I decline from trying to figure out what. But I encourage you to study the PRINT statements.
I think that it would be a good idea to include the schema name, in cases these tables are not in dbo after all.
    Note: rather than writing:
       SET @STATEMENT = 'DROP ' + @OBJECT_TYPE + ' [' + @OBJECT_NAME_BARE + ']';
    write:
       SET @STATEMENT = 'DROP ' + @OBJECT_TYPE + quotename(@OBJECT_NAME_BARE)
Somewhat briefer. And it works also when the object name includes a right bracket.
sp_sqlexec is undocumented, use sp_executesql instead.

  • Windows Explorer Thumbnail View and 7D Mark II RAW Files

I am running latest version of PhotoShop CC on Windows 8.1 Toshiba laptop. Prior to purchasing my Canon 7D Mark II, I could view Canon RAW files as photo thumbnails in Windows Explorer. Since upgrading cameras, I get generic thumbnails when I view a folder full of RAW files from the 7D Mark II. Is there a fix? I use Irfanview as a general file viewer and Adobe Camera RAW to open files in PhotoShop, but I seriously miss the ability to find a specific photo quickly in Windows Explorer.

    Hi billyray1usa ,
may I suggest that you try to use Bridge to view and navigate between the thumbnails with the possibility of having the large preview of each image in more than Adobe Bridge updates with PS and Camera Raw.
