IBM Rational Application Developer tool

Hi,
can u tell me how to assemble a developed EJB Session bean using Assembly toolkit, import it into RAD tool and deploy it in the RAD tool with target server as IBMWebphere serve 5.1.16. I found out some sites relating to all these with webcomponents using ejb but not exactly known the steps followed for EJB component.

Here is the process I did. My oim version is 9.1.0.2
1) Created java program in IBM RAD and compiled it.
2) Created jar file using jar -cvfm class-files command.
3) Copied the jar file to javatasks folder.
4) Tried to use this jar in adapter then got "Failed because null" and sometimes "Server could not load class" messages. most of the time i am getting "failed because null" message.
Compiled using javac command also without using this tool and created still no luck....

  • Kodo 3.3.0 Eclipse plugin for IBM Rational Application Developer 6.0

I tried to add the Kodo eclipse plugin to IBM RAD 6.0 which uses eclipse
    3.0 instead of 2.1.
Following the instuction to install the eclipse plugin as follow.
First copy the directory kodo.eclipse_2.1.0 directory from the eclipse
    directory
Is this still ok to copy kodo.eclipse_2.1.0 to eclipse 3.0 plugin?

Kodo's eclipse plugin follows Eclipse versioning semantics as each
plugin is marked with the -plugin- version number, not which version of
Eclipse it is compatible. So Kodo's 2.1 version number indicates the
feature set of the plugin. Its a tad confusing, but we also didn't want
to force people to make drastic changes to their plugin directory when
each minor patch is released. For the most part, you can simply put in
the newest version of kodo-jdo.jar and plugin.xml.

  • Rational Application Developer support

I found a workaround for installing NitroX as a plugin for Rational Application Developer 6.
Initially, during the installation I tried to install NitroX as a plugin to WSAD but I received an error message that RAD 6 was not a valid WSAD installation. I then noticed that if I try to install NitroX as an Eclipse plugin to RAD 6, it continued with the install and seems to work fine.
Here are the specific steps that I followed:
    1. Launch the NitroX installer
    2. Choose to install NitroX as a plugin to Eclipse
    3. When prompted for an Eclipse installation, use the eclipse folder inside of Rational Application Developer.
    (ie: C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\ADTrial\6.0\eclipse)
    4. Launch RAD and open the NitroX web perspective by going to Window | Open Perspective | Other.
    5. Choose the NitroX Web perspective (the Web icon with the "X" through it).
Seems to be working great for editing jsp, struts, and debugging.
Hope you find this useful - Mark

First of all it's java (based on eclipse), secondly - I think Mac OS is based on UNIX so some apps should work, maybe with help of macports or fink - but I can't manage to do so
    Thanks anyway

I have 2 questions about Sql Server 2005.
    1.  I have 2 sets of CDs, one is called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition, Applications Developer Tools, and another one called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition Servers Server Applications.
I installed the Applications Developer Tools on my development pc, and I was able to use create and populate a database, and use Sql Server Management Studio fine. I wonders what 's the Servers Server Applications set of cds for.
    2.  I just like to install Sql Server 2005 on a test pc also.  Can I use my Developer Edition Applications Developer Tools to install it ?

  • IBM new WebSphere Studio tools and Weblogic?

    Hi,
Does anybody know does BEA has any plans to create plug-in for new
(currently beta) IBM's Java development tools to support Webloigic?
    Sincerely,
    Vladyslav Kosulin, Hauppauge, NY
    ([email protected])

Its true that WSAD is based on Eclipse, which is an open source IDE-framework.
Anyone can make there own extensions like : editors, testenvironments, deployment-wizards
    etc.
The main difference between Eclipse an WSAD is that while eclipse comes with a
minimal set of tools, IBM has made a broad range of tools, which is what they
    are really selling.
The framework is, as you said, Eclipse.
If I was to start out using Eclipse now for large enterprise solutions, I would
    start out with WSAD.
But in time, Eclipse will probably grow beyond WSAD, by the contributions made
    by the open source community.
    Chemi <[email protected]> wrote:
Nirav, I have several comments about this point:
    - IBM WSAD is based on an Open Source project called Eclipse.
    - So I don't understand your comment "how open is"......... Perhaps you
should review the meaning of Open Source.
    - From my point of view, you could forget IBM WSAD and just concentrate
    in
    Eclipse.
    - BTW, WebGain (I think you know them) is part of the Eclipse.org board.
    - Eclipse R1.0 (http://www.eclipse.org) is GA some months ago, IBM WSAD
    (http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/studio/preregister.html) is
    GA
one month ago, but I haven't seen any new official post about the future
    of this integration.
And.......... speaking a little bit more about "how open is....", how
    open
    is your new "Cajun" strategy?
    TIA,
    Chemi.

  • JDeveloper in team application development

We are looking for an evaluation of JDEveloper as a team
    application development tool.
We would be starting from scratch, JAva-wise.
THe intent is to deploy via JWeb in OAS 4.
The question: Is JDeveloper 2.0 robust enough for a ground-
    up, team application development project?
    null

Environment variables are the variables that you set at the OS
    level.
You can set them in a DOS shell (single session) or in the
Environment Tab of the System properties (on Windows NT). Double
click the System icon in the Control Panel. You can add a
variable and a value for it.
Then there might be specific OAS variables as well. You can set
these in the Management Interface of OAS.
Help on using JWeb can be found in the OAS online help and
    samples.
    Hope this helps,
    -Roel.

  • Run application developed with Oracle dev tools in Linux client

    Hi,
In my organization we're using Oracle forms and reports as development tools and 10g database.
We have developed an app that runs on Windows XP, and I would like to know what are the possibilities for it to run in a Linux client, such as Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.
Is it possible? What would I need to do that?
    Thanks

For Forms and Reports to run in Linux it (Linux) will need a Java plug-in.
The last time I did this I used this:
The file jre-6u12-linux-i586-rpm.bin was download from:
    http://www.java.com/en/download
There should be instructions there on how to install and configure.
I will include my short enable notes below: (Keep in mind these are about two years old)
    Enable and Configure
    1. Go to the plugins sub-directory under the Firefox installation directory
    This directory was:
/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.1/plugins (On Red Hat AS 4)
    2. Enter the following command to create a symbolic link to the Java Plug-in for the Mozilla browser.
    ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_12/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Note: Use ns7-gcc29 if Firefox was compiled with gcc2.9. (It was not)

  • Plug a Swing-based development tool into Eclipse

This article teaches you how to integrate a stand-alone Swing-based editor into the Eclipse Platform as a plug-in. Using simple techniques, you can share resources between the Swing tool, the Eclipse Platform, and various SWT widgets -- and these resources can communicate through mutual awareness. Tool vendors who want to bring Eclipse-based development tools to market with a minimal amount of re-coding will also find this article helpful.

I am working since a few months on this topic. We have a Swing Application
which we want to integrate in Eclipse. We decided to do this in little
steps. One of the first is to integrate the application as far as possible
over the Swing Bridge. And the results are really good. We integrated our
editor, some views, resources and the most actions so far. We hope to
release our Alpha version in February.
The really nice thing is, that we could take allmost all our existing Swing
Wizards and so on from the old application. Only some wizards for Project
and new Resource creation had be made new. The communication between AWT /
Swing and SWT is also runnig well. All events (Mouse, Keys..) are being
transfered from one toolkit to the other. The only problem is the
synchronization of the Swing and SWT thread. You often get "Invalid thread
access" messages. But this is solvable.
Gentleware also integrated their modelling tool Poseidon in Eclipse over the
Swing-Bridge. If you wanna see how it looks like, here the download page:
    http://gentleware.com/downloadcenter.0.html
You need the Professional version. Their integration is not so nice (I think
they did it really fast). But I think they work on it in the future. But
here you can see that it works ;-)
