ICal 6.0 create event in selected calendar?

Just upgraded and can no longer seem to create an event in the calendar of my choice (previously used or selected). Only creates new event in default calendar. Am I missing something?

What to do if you have an i phone5 threw sprint carrier and arent able  to creat events on ur calendar app

What carrier you are on should not be an issue when it comes to operating an app. What happens when you try and create an event? Do you see an error, does the calendar app do something when you try to add an event?
What user troubleshooting have you tried. From the User Guide http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296, the steps are restart (power off/on), reset (hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will restart), a restore from a backup, and lastly a restore as a new phone.

  • ICal - problem creating events in Exchange calendar

Hi All, this is a weird one to describe, so please bear with me...!
My client is on Snow Leopard at the moment, so does not yet have access to iCloud (upgrading remains an option but he is in no hurry). He is, however, having a confusing time of it using iCal on his Macbook.
He has linked iCal to his corporate Exchange account, and certainly he can view all the events within his iCal. However, when he creates a new event, it does not get created within the Exchange calendar, but rather in his local calendar, and then gets overlaid, visually, on top of the Exchange calendar. Consequently, this created event does not synchronise with his iPhone, because it is only "known about" on his local MacBook. Sorry if this sounds a little confusing, but do you guys see the problem?
Another, minor-ish, point is that the new event he creates locally always gets colour coded in a way that he seems to have no control over. Can anyone explain how the colour coding gets determined when a new event is posted?
To sum up then, he seems only to be able to read events in his Exchange calendar, but cannot add events in a way that they then get synced correctly.
    Paul

I just barely had this problem.  I restarted the program and it worked.

    Hello
I am able to get Google calendar events using pl/sql..I am receiving huge xml code(if there are more events),want only update and recently created events instead of getting repeated events.please help me in this regard.
    Thanks

From the Google Calendar API online documentation:
    "Retrieving an event again
If you want to retrieve an event that you've retrieved before, you can improve efficiency by telling Calendar to send the event only if it has changed since the last time you retrieved it."

  • Ical will not create new / delete old calendars

On my imac, ical will not create a new calendar (File / New Calendar) and will not delete the calendar (Edit / Delete) that is in there (a custom calendar called 'group 3' that was never used - the default calendars are not in there either).
I tried same on my ibook and it worked as expected.
Back to the imac, I delete the imac application from the applications folder, then did a custom install from my OS X 10.4 disk. Although the install completed successfully, the situation is no different.
    Suggestions? thanks

Solved: Deleted all Key Chain references to the FTP address.

  • ICal - Able to create, but not view calendars

I've done a clean install of snow leopard server. I've set up wikis and blogs and they work just fine. When trying to go to myserver/ical in a browser however, then the iCal page loads and is overlaid with an error message saying "You don't have permission to view this calendar".
When I browse to my group's wiki, under Setting > Services I can create a group calendar, but then when I try to go to it (http://myserver/groups/mygroup/calendar) I get the same error message. I find it odd that I can create a group calendar, but then not access it.
In Server Admin under the Access tab I've given my group access to the iCal service. When trying to debug this I've of course set iCal's log level to debug. When I try to log in to the web calendar (it does ask for authentication when I try to get to the group wiki, which I want it to do), the log file outputs:

The last line suggests to me that iCal is somehow not able to link usernames to passwords like the wiki and the blog do. Though I don't know what settings I can change to affect that. There is the Authentication tab under the iCal section of Server Admin. I've set Type = 'Any Method' and hostname and port are default (my FQDN and 8008 respectively). I don't use SSL.

    Hi,
*"You don't have permission to view this calendar"*
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • How do I get events and changes created on my IOS Calendar to show up on iCal using iCloud?

Using iCloud I can sync my events from iCal right to my IPod Touch. This is great except for the fact that I rarely create events on iCal. I usually create events using the Calendar app on my IPod Touch because I always have it handy and I feel that has a much more intuitive UI. I was really excited about iCloud being able to sync my events from my IPod to iCal but it doesn't seem to be working. When I create events on iCal they sync to my Calendar right away, but when I create an event on my IPod it doesn't show up on iCal. The same is true for changes made on my IPod to events synced from iCal. the changes don't show up in iCal at all. HELP PLEASE!

The operating system should read 10.8 - sorry...

  • ICal / iPhone sync problems - events don't appear in iCal

I have MobileMe set up on both my MacBook and iPhone. All iCal-created events now appear on my iPhone (although only those after 9th May 2008; none before), but if I create an event on my iPhone then it doesn't show up on iCal. If I check MobileMe on the internet, my web-based version of iCal has all events, including those that I create on the iPhone.
On iCal I have two calendar types: Home (Blue) and Work (Green). On my iPhone there are now four types, for some reason: two Homes (both Blue) and two Works (both Green). I have tried experimenting by creating events in all calendars, but none sync to appear in iCal on my MacBook.
    Help!

After 3.5 hours on the phone with applecare, I believe this problem of not syncing ical from ipod touch to the ical app is resolved. Here are the steps that made it happen for me:
Log out of main account and log into root account. If you haven't set up the root user yet follow the directions in your Mac Help on your computer. Make sure you understand the implications of setting up the root user account. You may want to disable the root user after you are done with this fix.
In Finder, navigate to /Users/(your account)/Library/Application Support and delete every folder in the Application Support directory that has the word 'Sync' in the folder's name.
Log out of the root account and back into your main account. Sync your ipod touch / iphone and see if this worked for you.
    Good Luck!

  • 10.5.8 iCal clients can't see additional Wiki Calendars

We just implemented a company wide iCal Server solution on 10.6.3 server (although just updated to 10.6.4 with no difference).
Most of our clients are 10.5.8 (iCal 3.0.8 - 1287). We've setup about 4 or 5 wikis, each with calendars and setup each user's iCal with additional CalDAV accounts for each Wiki Calendar, with URLs in the form of
    http://server.example.com:8008/principals/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/
Now, within each Wiki/Group Calendar account, there might be multiple calendars. It seems that 10.5.8 clients can only see events in ONE of these calendars, whereas 10.6.x clients can see everything! User credentials seem irrelevant, it's just down to the OS/iCal version.
At first, I thought it might just be the primary calendar (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/calendar) as opposed to the secondary ones (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/87263455-a895-dfg3-23456789). However, even that is not the case. I can't seem to find any pattern to dictate why some show and some don't.
Now these 10.5.8 users can create events in the calendar whose events they can't see, but then others can't see those events. I've dug around in /Library/CalendarServer but I can't seem to find anything about event level ACLs. Am I misunderstanding how this should work? Is this a limitation of 10.5.8 iCal? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'll just add that when users view the calendars via the web, all events show up perfectly.

  • Allow users to click button and add event to their calendar?

    This page:
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?u=judp&n=LAFCPUG.ics
Has a subscribe link that when clicked, warns me in Firefox that an external application will be launched. I am guessing it will launch iCal and place an event in my calendar.
    1. Does this look like what it is going to do?
    2. How is something like this setup on a website?
    Thanks.

  • Can't select calendar with creating event on iPod touch

Hi everyone - Thanks in advance for your help!
    Here's the deal:
I have 4 calendars on Google Calendar. I use google's "Calaboration" to push those calendars to apple ical on my macbook pro. Those calendars then show up just as they should on my ipod touch. All that works like a song. Couldn't be happier.
To be clear, those are the ONLY 4 calendars I use. I have not, and don't plan to create any others in ical.
HOWEVER, when I try to create an event using my IPT, it will not allow me to select which of those 4 calendars I want to use. I can see the field where I would do so, but it's grayed out. Instead, it creates a 5th calendar called, creatively "calendar" and puts the event there.
The new "calendar" shows up in ical on my MBP, but of course does not sync to google.
What's worse, I can't even change which calendar I want it to show up on in ical on my MBP.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    J

I think I solved it unless someone knows a better way (likely). I went from manually manage to auto sync. That drastically increased my free space. Apparently that made the "keep only newest episode" command go from itunes to the ipod.
Once my space was freed up I went back to manually manage so I could use smart playlists again.

  • Can't open & create event in iCal

I used to be able to open & create an event in iCal.  But, the last time I sync'd my iphone & macbook it asked me which event was correct.  I clicked on the one on the right and haven't been able to view or create on macbook since (can open & create event on iphone).

What do you see when you click on the Event? Also can you see the photos in the Photo mode? In the Photos mode do you have Event Titles selected in the View menu so they display? That will let you find the event you want and see if you can see the photos there.
Try the basic fix first: close iPhoto, delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and see if that helps.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Is there a way to create three different physical calendars in ical so that I can get a fiscal view of the calendars?

Is there a way to create three physically different calendars in iCal so that I can view the calendar and events from a fical point of view?

iCal just shows the calendars you have created in your account(s).  So if you are using iCloud just log into your iCloud account in a web browser and make as many new calendars as you wish to have.  Then enable those in iCal.
If you use Google accounts or something else for the calendars, then create them as needed, and enable them in iCal.
I have several separate calendars all displayed in iCal - a couple linked through my Gmail accounts, and one through my iCloud account.  Each uses a different default item color so they are distinct in iCal.

  • In ical I just added new calendars to a pre-existing calendar group, I can make events with these calendars, but not reminders, any suggestions?

    Hi,
Lion has changed the way reminders (todos as was) work. They now seem to need to be in a seperate calendar.
In iCal open the File menu and select New Reminder List... and select where to put it.
