ICal suddenly has 100 calendars, all the same
Is there a way to simply remove all the calendars I have in iCal? MobileMe seems to have gone berserk and duplicated all my calendars about a hundred times. As there is no multi-select or hot-key combo, it would take a long long time to remove all of them.

Try the basics first:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
If the duplicates are still there, reset your sync services: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
If the duplicates are still there:
1. Turn off syncing with MobileMe by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync and removing the check mark for Synchronize with MobileMe.
2. Safe Boot your computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
3. Once in Safe Boot remove the following to the trash and then restart the computer:
Macintosh HD > Library > Caches -- Remove all items in the Caches folder to the trash
Your User > Library > Calendars -- Remove all items within the Calendars folder to the trash
4. Test iCal
5. Assuming iCal looks fine at this point you can go back to MM Prefs and turn syncing back on and test again.

Hundreds of calendars, Hundreds of contacts, all the same...
Hi all-
It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes I'll get a message saying that iSync wants to update my calendar with thousands of calendar entries, or hundreds of contacts, and it turns out, when I open iCal or Address Book, that all the calendars/entries have been duplicated! Sometimes many many many times (I had to delete the "Phases of the Moon" calendar a hundred times!).
I have several Macs that I keep in sync with iSync/MobileMe and I don't know if one of the machines goes berserk or what, but what is really troubling is that I can't figure out how to, when the dreaded "...will change more than 5% of your calendars" message appears, to tell it "NO! Don't do it!", and to basically refuse the change, and then turn around and re-push the "good" list.
This isn't limited to MobileMe calendars either, which is why I thought it was more of an iSync issue. Basically, can I prevent this from happening?iSync's only purpose is for syncing contacts and calendars to non-Apple mobile phones via a USB or Bluetooth connection. If you are not doing that, then you aren't using iSync as it doesn't sync anything between Macs.

I am debating between the 13in 2.9ghz mac book pro or the 13in 2.5 ghz mac book pro with all the same specs bbut for me i am trying to see which one for the money is better becuase the 2.5 will run me 100-200 dollars less than the other
Only you can make that determination. All things being equal the 2.5 GHz model is slower.

i am unable to manually add artwork via itunes 12 on windows 7. I've tried all the suggestions to no avail. Has anyone succeeded on the same platform as me?
The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the centre of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)
If you still cannot add artwork via any of these methods then I would suspect a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

See both calendars at the same time
I have 2 calendars which I see simultaneously on iCal. But when I try to publish them, only one or the other is published. How can I have the viewer see events from both calendars at once?
Are your "superimposed" calendars the same color? I have just merged my calendars, but want to keep the color coding from ical the same when it's published. For some reason when i publish the group all the calendars become the same color.

Why does iTunes use 100% CPU all the time, hogging my Macbook Air?
Decided to post this here instead of the iTunes forum, since it might be related to hardware too.
New owner of a 2011 13" Macbook Air, core i5 based.
My problem started about 1 week ago, after it had run out of power completely one day. At the first boot after that it was incredibly sluggish, totally unusable. After waiting for 5 minutes and still being unresponsive, I turned it off and then back on. Then it booted fine. HOWEVER, ever since that time I noticed the following behavior:
- iTunes stays at 100% + CPU all the time, mostly between 100-120%. Even if it's not playing. Even when I deleted the entire library and left it empty.
- iStats reports CPU idle between 50-65%. However, CPU temperature is still about 55 degrees C (which, I think, is far less than what it should have been with 50% idle cpu). I can confirm the low temperature by touching the chasis.
- the cursor freezes and jumps every few seconds, making the mac kind of unusable with iTunes open.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now. The problem goes away every now and then (iTunes sometimes goes back to regular CPU usage of 3-5%), but most of the time it's there.

I avoid Unsanity LLC products like the plague. Notice the company is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), which makes it difficult to sue the company in case of a defective or malicious product. So the risk using their products is all yours. Their APE framework modules have been used for malicious purposes because anyone can write a module that uses the APE framework.
I also avoid installing anything that requires a administrative password unless I completely trust the source, like Apple mostly. That admin password is the key to the security of our machines, not to be given out lightly or carelessly.
You'll have to contact Unsanity's [email protected] because what I'm reading online is it's very difficult to remove as it doesn't "exist".

Been using an Avastor HDX-800 for storage and backup, also a SUPERDISK for smaller stuff; recently the SUPERDISK does not appear on the screen, and the light blinks while you hear it spin, also the Avastor has started to have the same problem, both USB conncected, both worked well before, but both now spinning, blinking, and not showing up on the screen as before,
Interestingly they both appear in the System Profiler, but just not working the same as before

I have edited a movie in Final Cut Pro and the video has been smooth all the time.
Now, when the one hour long movie is ready the video seem to paus every 5 sec (only for half a second). It does it all the way through the movies.
What is wrong? All the sudden.We need info, info, info!
What version of FCP X?
Did you render? what are the project specs? do you use many compound clips? how much ram, hard drive space, how is the hard drive connected?
It looks like your mac can't keep up. Maybe the bottleneck is the hard drive, or something else.
Try exporting a master file and see if the video is ok.
Also, keep Activity Monitor open and see how much memory pressure you've got. -
3 year old iMac 24 running OS 10.7.4. After it has been on for a day or so, it stops going to sleep and becomes very slow. This only happens when Safari is running. Quitting Safari solves the problem. Has anyone else have the same problem? Does not happen on MacBookpro only on iMac.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?
