ICal writing tons of log messages into system.log

Hi all,
I've got an issue with iCal under Leopard 10.5.1.
Sometimes my syslogd process grabs ~100% CPU time and so I took a look into system.log.
I saw MANY lines like this:

Any idea how to fix this?
Here's another problem that might be related to this: my "Private" calendar was published in 10.4 but now the webdav server that was used for this is no longer existent (and can't be setup again).
So I wanted to unpublish my Private calendar but this wasn't possible. When trying to unpublish it I get the error message "This calendar could not be unpublished. Authentication information may be incorrect."
If I select the "Cange location..." menu entry in the context menu of the Private calendar I still see the webdav server address and the Login and Password fields are filled. But because this server no longer exists publishing is no longer possible. Which is fine with me.
So, how can I get rid of the publishing? Because I get tons of error messages in system.log, too, for this behaviour. Everytime the system tries to publish this calendar...
Thanks,
Stefan.

I am not much of a help, but I just wanted to say that my iCal just experienced the same problems for the first time today...

    Hello Prasanth
    I agree with Kareem that you should prefer the application log. If interface IF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST is available on your SAP system this is the first choice for collecting messages AND storing them as application log.
    For an example you may have a look at my Wiki posting [Message Handling - Finding the Needle in the Haystack|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/2007/07/09/MessageHandling-FindingtheNeedleintheHaystack]
    Not shown in this example is the storage of the application log. However, if you look at method CF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST=>CREATE you see that you can add the application log references here.

  • Org.samba.winbindd logs constant throttling respawn messages in system.log

    I am running Mac OS X 10.6.4 on a MacBookPro5,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo) system.
    My network connectivity is fine as far as I can tell. I recently discovered the following message being logged over and over in the system.log log file:
    7-17-10 11:49:09 o'clock com.apple.launchd[1] (org.samba.winbindd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

    This is really annoying when trying to view the log output to diagnose a problem I with an application I'm trying to develop
    What can stop these message from appear in my log output?

    I checked the Console application and found a log file in it call log.winbindd. It has several entries like the following in it that might be relevant:

  • Directing Log4J messages into OC4J log file

    Hi,
    We currently have a web application that is running on Tomcat. We want to migrate that application over to OC4J. The application currently uses Log4J for messages. What do I have to do to have the application still write to the log4j logs.
    Thanks,
    J

    Try this:
    http://buttso.blogspot.com/2007/09/directing-log4j-logs-into-oc4j-logging.html
    The application still issues log messages via log4j, but you as an administrator can configure OC4J so that the log4j messages get captured in the OC4J log system so they can be viewed using the log viewer mechanism of OC4J.

  • Warning message into Application log of Service request

    Hi Experts,
    I have a requirement where I am using Event handlers(CRMV_EVENT) to redetermine partners of a service request whenever certain values are changed in the transaction CRMD_ORDER.
    Partners will be retrieved from a custom table.
    In any circumstances, if the partners cannot be determined then we need to push a WARNING message stating that "Partners can not be determined, pls maintain the values in the custom table'.
    For this purpose I am using the function module CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT with the following parameters, but still I am not able to see the same into the Application log of the Service request that is going to be created.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'
      EXPORTING
        iv_caller_name         = 'ORDERADM_H'
        IV_REF_OBJECT          = iv_header_guid
        IV_REF_KIND            = 'A'
       IV_LOGICAL_KEY         = '0001'
        IV_MSGNO               = '001'
        IV_MSGID               = 'ZSP'
        IV_MSGTY               = 'W'
      IV_MSGV1               = SY-MSGV1
      IV_MSGV2               = SY-MSGV2
      IV_MSGV3               = SY-MSGV3
      IV_MSGV4               = SY-MSGV4
        IV_MSGLEVEL            = '1'
      IV_FIELDNAME           =
      IV_ACTION              =
        IV_LOG_HANDLE          = lv_log_handle
        IV_CUMULATE            = 'X'
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
             WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    ENDIF.
    Do I missed in passing of any additional parameters?
    Can any one of you have encountered the same problem and solved this, pls through some light on me too(if possible with block of code).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Here is the block of code that I used to push a message in to Application log.
    Push your message into a variable called dummy and then call the below mentioned function module.
    DATA:        lv_dummy(254)    TYPE  c,            "#EC NEEDED
              MESSAGE w052(sppf_media) WITH text-001
                                            text-002
                                        INTO lv_dummy.
              CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'
                EXPORTING
                  iv_caller_name = 'ORDERADM_H'
                  iv_ref_object  = iv_header_guid
                  iv_ref_kind    = lc_ref_kind_a
                  iv_msgno       = sy-msgno
                  iv_msgid       = sy-msgid
                  iv_msgty       = sy-msgty
                  iv_cumulate    = lc_x
                IMPORTING
                  ev_msgty       = lv_msgtyp
                  es_msg_handle  = gv_msghandle
                EXCEPTIONS
                  not_found      = 1
                  appl_log_error = 2
                  OTHERS         = 3.
              IF sy-subrc <> 0.
                MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
                       WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
              ENDIF.
            ENDIF.
    Hope this helps to resolve your issue.
    Regards,
    Usha.

  • Error Message in System log

    Hi, I recently discovered this error message in my system.log
    /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari: CGContextClipToRect: invalid context
    I am using Safari version 2.0.4 on Tiger. Can anyone tell me what it means and if I need to worry about it. Thanks!

    Hi,
    It's just a debugging entry the programmers have left in the Safari/WebKit code. It looks like the webpage you are viewing is causing one of the rendering functions used to draw parts of the page to behave in an unexpected way.
    Nothing to worry about as such.

  • Warning messages in system log after upgrading to SP4

    Hello there, I am starting to see quite a lot of warning messages in the system log saying the following:
    Failed loading JDBC Driver class com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    Failed loading JDBC Driver class com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB
    Failed loading JDBC Driver class org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    We are using MSSQL as the underlying database, so maybe something needs to be unchecked somewhere? Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Anders

    Anders,
        I just updated to SP4 and tried a user creation (my database is also MSSQL). I did not see any warnings in the system logs. Like Thomas said you must have extra entries in the Tools/Option/Java/JDBC driver names.
    All you need is just one entry "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver".
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

    Also NOW I suddenly have two 256 cards that are not showing up so I have lost half of my RAM! I have less than 12% space left on my hard drive. Two of the cards look the same and two others look alike ( I have four 256 cards) Two years ago the repair shop put in two used cards so I would have all the same. I tried re seating them but it didn't work and I still get repeating messages in my systems log.

    I am not issuing a log swiitch command. The RMAN commands I am running are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 2;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/u03/exports/backups/aatest/%F';
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK BACKUP TYPE TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET;
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/u03/exports/backups/aatest/%d_%U';
    BACKUP DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG;
    DELETE NOPROMPT OBSOLETE;
    DELETE NOPROMPT ARCHIVELOG UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE-2';
    I do not see this message on any other 10.2.0.4 instances. Has anyone seen this and if so why is this showing in the log?
    Thank you,
    Curt Swartzlander

    There's no problem with log switch. Please refer to documentation for more information on syntax "PLUS ARCHIVELOG"
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14192/bkup003.htm#sthref377
    Adding BACKUP ... PLUS ARCHIVELOG causes RMAN to do the following:
    *1. Runs the ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT command.*
    *2. Runs BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL. Note that if backup optimization is enabled, then RMAN skips logs that it has already backed up to the specified device.*
    *3. Backs up the rest of the files specified in BACKUP command.*
    *4. Runs the ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT command.*
    *5. Backs up any remaining archived logs generated during the backup.*
    This guarantees that datafile backups taken during the command are recoverable to a consistent state.

  • Console message and system.log

    Hi,
    in the console system.log always apear this message every 30 second:
    +Feb 16 02:22:55 Macintosh SystemUIServer[346]: Error: ACInterfaceGetPower() called with invalid interface+
    +Feb 16 02:23:25: --- last message repeated 5 times ---+
    and every 5 second this other message:
    16/02/08 02:40:55 SystemUIServer[346] Error: ACInterfaceGetPower() called with invalid interface
    .. and the message look like an infinite loop message.
    Is it a problem ?
    And i can ear the Internal HD run always.
    Thanks on advice for any help
    Ale

    I just went through a bunch of research on this on my own iMac G5. (BTW - do you have an iMac G5 or an iMac Intel Core Duo? It can't be both)
    It comes down to the items that the SystemUIServer is trying to call. if you look at <homefolder>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and open it with TextEdit, you'll see that, among other things, it references 8 menuExtras -
    Battery.menu
    Displays.menu
    TimeMachine.menu
    Bluetooth.menu
    AirPort.menu
    Volume.menu
    Clock.menu
    User.menu
    While logged in as an administrative user, I launched System Preferences, Activity Monitor, and the Console looking at *+All Messages+*. I got the same ACInterfaceGetPower() error every 5 seconds, too. So I went through the Preferences and deactivated each menu item above, but the messages continued to appear.
    I had two items that might have been causing a problem. The first was the fact that I had the AirPort signal showing up in the menu bar, even though the Network location I have set up does not have AirPort as an available service. I added the Airport service back in, disabled the menu icon, removed the AirPort service again, and Applied the changes. I'm pretty sure the error message was still appearing at this point.
    The big change came when I opened up Accounts. First, I went to the Login Items section for my current user. I noticed that the EyeTV Helper and an Adobe process were both there along with the iTunes Helper process. I removed the first two using the "-" at the bottom. That actually appeared to fix it, but I proceeded to the Login Options section and disabled *Fast User Switching*. That removes the users from the menu bar. By this time the only thing left in the menu bar was the Spotlight icon.
    Switching over to Activity Monitor, I killed the SystemUIServer process. It restarted and the ACInterfaceGetPower() messages did not reappear. I then re-activated each item, one at a time, killing the SystemUiServer after each activation. Again, the messages did not appear. I did not re-activate Bluetooth or AirPort, since I do not need them.
    I am no longer getting those messages and the system appears to be running fine right now.
    I have an external monitor attached to the iMac G5 as well as 4 FireWire hard drives. I am connected to the outside world via FiOS and I have a 100 Mb CAT-5 connection to that router.

  • Repeating messages in System log: com.apple.wikid.mailinglists[######]: mail:status = "list-updated"

    Hello
    I have an OSX 10.6.8 server and recently noticed the System log keeps repating the same message after 10 mins:
    com.apple.wikid.mailinglists[#####]: mail:status = "list-updated"
    [#####] = number that changes every event
    The server is bound to Active Directory and the only active services are AFP and SMB
    Is there a location/way I can check to stop/fix these messages?
    Many thanks for your help
    Ciao
    Carlo

    This is part of the wiki server's setup. If you don't want the messages, turn off the wiki (or 'collaboration services' in the web server setup.
    Beyond that, there's no harm in the messages. Why do they concern you?

  • Recurring messages in system.log. Every ten seconds.

    Since upgrading from 10.4.11 to 10.5.1, I get the following recurring (every 10 seconds) messages in the system.log.
    Leopard is complaining about user postfix having the same user ID as _postfix and some inability to launch something. The system attepts to launch it every ten seconds.
    Do you have any idea about what can I do? I've repaired permissions, cleared caches, updated prebindings...
    Thanks to all for your help.

    You have two problems here. One with NIS and one with mail.
    The mail one sounds like your mail configuration didn't transfer smoothly. Did you customize it under 10.4?
    Either way, this particular fix is easy.
    Edit the file etc/postfix/main.cf and look for the line:
    mail_owner = postfix
    and change it to
    mail_owner = _postfix
    As for the NIS error (com.apple.nis.ypbind), are you running NIS?
    If so, check the NIS settings in /Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility.app.
    Either change the settings as necessary, or turn off NIS if you're not using it.

    The LSI 1064 is the SCSI RAID controller chipset - perhaps a cabling/power issue as noted in another post I saw. Look at the above bug report and try checking your power management configuration.
