ICloud with outlook 2010: Cannot access email in the client

Remove the mail profile and try again.

Hello Spiceheads,
Here is the issue. An end user has iCloud and downloaded and installed the client on her workstation. Up until about a couple of weeks ago, it was working just fine. Now, in outlook 2010, it constantly prompts for a username and password. The kicker is that she is using the correct one. I had her login to the web interface with the same username and password and she logged in just fine. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didnt fix the issues. Any suggestions?

I just upgraded to iOS7 and started using icloud with Outlook 2010. I dealt with switching over to only using icloud for my calendar, but now my calendar reminders are only randomly popping up which is very frustrating. They show up on my phone however. And under my calendar on my main page it doesn't show any appointments coming up. Any suggestions on a fix?

    Hey Csound1,
Looks like we found a solution, it's Mickey Mouse but it works.  After talking to two Apple Senior Advisors, this is the fix they came up with:
The first advisor after exploring it for awhile, came to the conclusion the way to get my calendars back local On my Mac with the alerts as I had then was to import the saved .ics files with my my 'dangerous email alerts' being removed then me manually re-adding them.   I said that was a no go.
The second advisor, after speaking with me for awhile and trying a few things that we'd tried before said he'd do some work on his end and call me back.  A couple of hours later he phoned back with a fix that I guess will have to do, his solution:
I had to go into Calendar-preferencs-accounts and create a Gmail calendar, quit and restart Calendar, I created a calendar in the gMail account.  Then I was given the option  in Calendar under File-New Calendar to create On my Mac local calendars.  Next was to create local calendars with the same names as my iCloud calendars.  Now I had to un-check all calendars but one, put Calendar in month view, command-click all the events for the given calendar and drag them to the new local calendar of the same name.  I then had to repeat this for each of the calendars and for all 12 months of the year.
I'm not done yet but it seems to be working.  As I said Mickey Mouse but doing the job.  It seems creating another online calendar account was the only way to get the local On my Mac option, active again.  What a pain in the a** this has been, I will repeat it again
    iCloud is EVIL.

    Hi nprguy,
It sounds like an earlier version of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software installed on your PC may be conflicting with this installation.
I would advise uninstalling both versions of the BlackBerry Desktop Software then reinstalling the latest version.
The following KB articles should provide more information on the issue.
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" when uninstalling BlackBerry Desktop Manager www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10220
"Error 1316" InstallShield error is encountered when uninstalling or upgrading the BlackBerry Desktop Software

    Thanks.

  • I was using Icloud with Outlook 2010 on Win 7 64 bit w/o a problem until I downloaded CP 3.  Now can't open my calendar in outlook - contacts are fine. Also can't open calendar in icloud if I access it with Internet Exp but can if I use Chrome. Fixes?

I was using Icloud on my PC with Outlook 2010 and Windows 7 64bit.  After I upgraded the icloud control panel to 3.0 my calendar will no longer load and open in outlook nor will it open on icloud if I access icloud with internet explorer.  It works fine on icloud if I access it with Chrome.  I can also access it through IE on another computer.  Something is amiss on my system.  Any thoughts?

Import the calendar and contacts in Outlook.com. For contacts, export from Outlook as csv and import into Outlook by choosing the Other option (https://people.live.com/import/other?biciid=ImportCatalog)
You'll need to save the calendar as an ics file to import it. Select the calendar folder, the File, Save as an save as an ics.

  • TS1347 Syncing Icloud with Outlook 2010

I just upgraded to Outlook 2010 from 2007. Icloud was working great with Outlook 2007. I now get an error message when trying to open contacts in icloud in Outlook 2010 with the followin error: error-mapi was unable to load the information service. The error is followed by a long file name ending with ......\aplzod.dll, followed by Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.Any fixes out there?

    Here's what worked for me:
My me.com e-mail was set-up as IMAP, so there was nothing to lose by deleting the account from Outlook.
I went to the iCloud control panel, unchecked that I wanted to sync the following with Outlook:
    Mail with Outlook
    Contacts with Outlook
    Calendar and Tasks with Outlook
    Click Apply.
Next go to Control Panel > Mail > E-Mail Accounts, selected your "@me.com" email account, and click the Remove button.
Next, go back to the iCloud control panel and re-check each of the three checkboxes that you unchecked earlier.  The iCloud control panel will go through its steps to sync with Outlook all over again.
Voila!  For me, the problem was fixed.

    Use Windows System Restore.
Then choose where you want your stuff, locally in Outlook or online in iCloud.

  • Cant sync icloud with Outlook 2010 after Apple deactivated my password

I used to have a 7 character password stored in Outlook 2010. Apple would no longer accept my password as it was less than 8 characters and when I changed it, despite changing the password on iCloud control pannel on my Windows 7 computer, Outlook 2010 will not accept the password change and keeps givig me a "wrong password" message. There seems to be no way to change my password within Outlook and as a result, I can not push my calender to my iPhone 5.
I have deleted iCloud control panel rebooted etc, and it will update the caleneder once but never again. I cant keep doing this as it is not a solution, just a time consuming hassle.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mobile Me and iCloud are entirely different services, iC;ouds password requirements are stricter than Mobile Me's were and were not supported by iCloud. You got lucky (as others did) that yours kept workin.

  • Syncing with outlook 2010, if i leave empty the Home address it cames United States as default and if i fill home address and left work address empty Saudi Arabia appears after sync in Iphone.

    Salam,
In contacts i am facing strange problem, i have all the contacts in outook 2010 and i sync it with my new Iphone 4s with IOS 5.1.1.
Some contacts in my outlook 2010 has work address filled and some has home address filled so i make them all shifted to work address (work city and work country), then after sync i found that those contacts which i update from home address to work are showing default home country "united states" in iphone even home address is blank in outlook 2010; and then i shift all the contact's work address to home address in outlook and leaving all work address fields blank and then sync with iphone, i was again amazed that iphone is showing work address as "Saudi Arabia" even the work country is blank in outlook.
Kindly help me in this problem.

Seriously folks?  I know it was long but I added all info to negate a need for endless back/forth clarifications.  No answers???
FYI, i tried syncing contacts to google/gmail and it was a total clusterF as well.  No gmail contacts, synced iphone, gmail contacts populated w/ all info but w/lots of repeat entries.  Used seek and merge repeats in gmail and then resync but no such luck.  Lots of iterations and nothing but fails.  Seems everytime the phone and the gmail lists are "as desired" a new sync puts a ton of repeats back into gmail or onto phone.  Still perplexed and still needing help....
    pretty please....

  • Outlook 2010 wont send emails with attachments

    Hello
I was starting to write the question when we found out what the problem was. So I thought I would share our resolution in here, in case someone fall in the same issue.
One of my user with Outlook 2010 cannot send emails with attachments of some size. +-50 kb files works fine.
But when we try a file of 1mb, the mail goes in the Outbox, Exchange status swith from Connected to Disconnected and the email stay there.
The user is in a remote location, connected through VPN with the network where the Exchange 2013 server is
    Here is what I did:
    1. Re-create Outlook profile: wont work
    2. Re-create Windows profile: wont work
    3. Check ip settings: fine
    4. Try in OWA: wont work
    5. Look at Exchange settings for outgoing email size: 10mb
    6. Load my user's Outlook profile on another LAN: works fine
That last point made me thought about a potential problem on the remote user's lan. So I did
    7. Check VPN config between the remote site and IT site: fine
After googling the problem, I found that website (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/396793-outlook-2010-client-suddenly-showing-disconnected-from-2013-exchange-server) that suggest to change the DNS setting on the client. However, the DHCP of my remote
user was the router itself, which is giving a DC as primary DNS, and ISP DNS as secondary. I changed the secondary DNS for another DC in our organization, and guess what? Voila! Problem is gone!
Thinking about it that make not much sense, as the primary DNS is always up the secondary shouldn't be queried. But that's what resolved our problem.
    Hope it helps someone!

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.
    Jim Robbins

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • ICloud not syncing with Outlook 2010 Calendar

First I should say that I had successfully setup iCloud with all my devices:  iP4, iPad2 and Win7 PC with Outlook 2010.  A few days ago I had to reinstall Outlook.  I re-installed iCloud via Control Panel and successfully downloaded the iCloud Calendar to Outlook.  All the devices sync with iCloud but Outlook does not.   Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Glad that romlee's fix worked for Donawat! This iCloud situation is just a fiasco if you work in Windows and use Outlook.
I had been having problems with accurate syncing ever since I downloaded the OS 5, which is obviously not meant for the iPhone 4. (Phone has been glitchy too but that is another story.)
Previously, I was on Outlook 2007 with Windows 7 home premium. While I could get things to work, I was having the same problem that others have: duplicate entries, incorrect entries, entries that just won't show up, etc. After lots of research (and many what I consider wasted hours) I was able to find a fix that worked for me.
First of all, I want to point out that one of the reasons it doesn't work well is because Apple created a file format for iCloud that does not create a .PST file (which is what Outlook uses). Apple should just be up front about this as they have severely damaged their reputation with Windows users who have iPhones, plus they are wasting a lot of people's time.
Second, unless you already have a me.com account, you can no longer create one.
Third, I came to realize that iCloud does not update its records. It just keeps adding the same things over and over again which I theorize causes the duplicates. Even if you merge the calendars, it just creates new calendar threads (the new colored dot entries in calendar lists).
My goal was to GET RID OF iCLOUD. If you want to keep using iCloud, what I did probably won't help you but please read it and see if an idea to solve your problem arises out of it.
Before I had yesterday's problem, I took the time and spent the money to upgrade Windows 7 to the Ultimate version, and then updated Office to 2010 from 2007.
After all the files downloaded and installed, I proceeded to try and make syncing with iCloud work. Foolishly, I thought it would work better if I had the newer software.
I ended up spending a total of six hours trying to figure out where my Outlook data went, why my calendar and contacts weren't showing in my personal files, and trying to get it back where it belonged. After more research and hours spent updating my data files, I was able to move things back to Outlook personal folders. What I ended up doing was this:
    1) In Outlook 2010, if syncing via iCloud, you will see personal folders and iCloud folders. Open the iCloud folders and look at all the Calendars (it just keeps creating them; there were 5 export to outlook calendars and I think 7 iCloud calendars). Find the calendar that is yours (the one you know is the most recent and has the info you are looking for).
    2) When you identify the correct calendar, open it using list view. (You can access that in Outlook 2010 via the View menu, then use the change view button). The list of dates will show up as a list in date order from oldest to newest. Review this entire list and delete all the duplicates or things you don't want to keep. Once this is done, you are ready to move the file.
    3) After you have your calendar file the way you want it, still in list view, hit control + a to select all, then press the copy to folder button. A window will open with all your files in it; select the calendar -personal folders file and click ok. Change your view to Calendar and you will see that all the items have moved over. WARNING: because of all the weirdness with iCloud, some of your recurrences and other dates may be missing. I found this happened with recurrences rather than appointments because the appointments are duplicated so many times but some other things may be missing.
at this point, it (the calendar) does not yet show up in outlook today. *You will change your data file in account settings later.*
    4) Go back to the iCloud folders and open the contacts. Select list, select all, and then copy to contacts-personal folder as with the calendar items. Check your contacts there and make sure the list has moved.
    5) Close outlook.
    6) Open iTunes with your phone connected via USB. Under info, switch everything you want to sync back to Outlook. Then close iTunes and unplug your USB connection.
    7) Find your iCloud icon under Control Panel. Select "sign out." It is not necessary to keep a copy unless it makes you feel more comfortable. If you have another backup system like Carbonite you should be okay. Of course, it never hurts to make a copy (but if you do, it takes awhile and it is not clear where it ends up).
    8) Open outlook again; go to account settings. Under data files, select Personal Folders as the default file. You will still see an iCloud archive on your list after you change it.
    9) after you do this, it  will take several minutes for Outlook to switch over to the Personal Folders data file. Be patient. After this is done, you will be able to use Outlook 2010 without the iCloud files showing up or interfering with the function of the software or syncing.
    10) Once Outlook has successfully switched files, close it again.
    11) On your iPhone, go to settings and select the iCloud menu. Turn off iCloud sync on each item you have been syncing. When it asks if you want to keep all the items that iCloud has placed there, select DELETE.
This is an act of bravery; I had no idea what would happen when I did it. However, it worked out fine because it wiped my calendar and contacts clean on the iPhone. No more duplicates. A bit scary because no more ANYTHING but when I synced the phone again, it all came back -- and no dupes.
    12) after you turn off iCloud on your phone, plug your iPhone into the USB port, turn on iTunes. After iTunes recognizes your phone, it will sync again. All your contacts and calendar items will be transferred back to your iPhone (and no duplicates!)
I am very pleased that I was able to figure this out, but disgusted at Apple's irresponsibility with claiming iCloud works with everything. It obviously doesn't and I wasted a lot of time and lost some data due to the iCloud.
In summary: This is what I did to get rid of iCloud. If you want to keep it, I don't know how helpful this will be.
Reminder: I did this in a Windows 7 Ultimate environment with Outlook 2010. I also have iTunes 10.5.2 (most recent version). Note: In Outlook 2007, 10.5.2 causes a glitch that claims iTunes can't find Outlook even if it is there.
You can repair the glitch in 2007 by closing all your programs, go to the control panel, then open the Programs menu. Find your Office 2007 program and right click. It gives you the option to repair or uninstall. Select REPAIR and then the windows installer will run. Follow the prompts and then restart. You will be able to see Outlook again from iTunes.
Hopefully, this will help others not waste time trying to make their technology function smoothly!
