Icon in iTunes doesn't match icon on iPhone

There are three apps (Air Sharing, Chopper, and Public Radio Tuner) for which the icons in the iTunes Applications window don't match the corresponding icons on my iPhone (1st gen, all updates applied). Is there a way to correct this?

Before reformatting your computer's hard drive or reinstalling Windows - this is important because you will probably be reinstalling Windows again in the not too distant future, you can back up your entire iTunes library - it is in a single iTunes named folder. This will include playlists, playcount, etc.
Have you reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only. After you have reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If any 3rd party apps do not transfer to your iTunes library, you can re-download purchased apps and you won't be charged again as long as you use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the app originally.
An iPod supports disk mode, so the iPhone not supporting disk mode has nothing to do with DRM. Security and "whatnot" is important. As a Windows user with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns, you should welcome a company that takes security seriously and does something about it. I guess after suffering with Windows for so long getting used to constant security concerns and "whatnot", I guess Apple shouldn't be so concerned about security making Windows users feel more at home giving you the ability to use the device any way you want and the same for hackers and script kiddies? Sorry, but you can stick with Windows and Windows Mobile for that.

Ever since I updated the operating system, itune doesn't play music on iphone 4. If it plays, it plays only one song and gets stuck. I've tried to reconnect to the computer to see whethere there has been missing portion during the upgrade... but not really. does anyone have the same issue?

    What does "gets stuck" mean?
    It repeats?
    It stops playing?
Have you tried the basics from the manual?  Restart.  Reset.  Restore.

  • ITunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion

iTunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion. I even tried to use Replace Information On This iPhone and it doesn't work. Any idea guys?

I'm having the same problem. It's as if my iPhone and MacBook Pro now have two separate calendars.
Basically, I have a MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion, 13", late 2011) that I sync via USB with an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1). Before upgrading to Mountain Lion, all of my iCal events would sync flawlessly. But none of the events I've created in iCal (Calendars) since upgrading have synced to the iPhone. Likewise, no new events that I create on the iPhone Calendar will sync to iCal. Also, changes to an existing event (even one created before upgrading to Mountain Lion) don't get synced either.
Everything else seems to be syncing just fine though (music, apps, contacts, etc).

  • After update to iOS 7.0, iTunes doesn't work on my iPhone 4

The iTunes-App still opens on my iPhone - however, there's no content to be seen - I cannot search or download any items - it just stays blank. When I connect my iPhone to my laptop and open iTunes, there's no problem at all - my iTunes database of the laptop recognises my iPhone, it can be synchronised etc. It is just the iTunes-App on my iPhone that doesn't work. Any ideas?

YIPPIEH: in another forum I found the solution for my problem:
    * you need to go to settings -> Safari -> data protection & security/privacy -> block cookies
    * here the setting MUST NOT BE PUT to "ALWAYS" - because then iTunes won't work. If you put the setting to "third parties" or "never" you shouldn't have problems with iTunes anymore.
Seems to be a minor bug - but a pretty annoying one...

  • Error message saying iTunes doesn't include software for iPhone

I get an error message saying iTunes doesn't include the software for iPhone. It says to uninstall and re-install iTunes. I have done it twice and both times I get the same error.

There is an entire iPhone forum here

I don't have one - perhaps you will be better off there, where most will?

  • Itunes doesn't recognize ipad nor iphone 4 after upgrade to 10.1.1.4

    Hi,
i upgraded itunes to version 10.1.1.4 in order to do the updates of OS on my ipad and iphone4. But now itunes doesn't recognize both devices any more, which wasn't a problem before the upgrade. It's not an USB problem, since the notebook recognizes both devices, but takes it for a camera and is searching for a proper software, but in itunes both do not show up. Did anyone have the same problem? Any idea what to do?
    Thanks
    Marc

You know what, I discovered the solution today, while syncing my iTouch. All I did was , remove my mobile me account from my iphone. Turn it off, then on. Add my mobileme account back to my iphone. Then connect it back to iTunes..... it was fixed! Woohoo!!
I decided to share the news and found that BSC had a solution! Its pretty much same thing I did, but THANKS so much for responding!! It worked!

  • I re-installed Windows 7, and now itunes doesn't match what's on my ipod touch. How can I sync from the device back onto the laptop?

I've lost all my playlists, and itunes has included all the albums from the My Music folder that were not included for reasons of space in the previous version. Is there a way that I can sync the ipod touch to itunes on the laptop---making the laptop agree with what's on the device? Thanks for your help.
    D. Bess

    Hello user!
In afraid you can only transfer songs from your iPod if you use "Transfer purchases" on iTunes Menu> Device.
This thing is better than move the folder from your device because iTunes use a different method to sync songs and app.
    Try it!

  • HT1918 Help! I cannot sync my iPods because my PW for iTunes doesn't match my AppleID PW - UGH!

I'm unable to sync my iPod..its corrupted..when i go to reset I am asked for a PW that I don't remember and I don't know how to reset - It seems that there is an iTunes PW distinct of my PW associated with my apple ID?? UGH..Old Brain!

    Hello Suzanne214,
I think iTunes is asking for your passcode on your iOS device.  If you don't remember the passcode, you can setup your iPod as new using the steps from the following article:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
The steps you take will depend on whether you have synced this iPod with iTunes on this computer in the past.  This article outlines the steps for either situation.  I hope this helps!
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • Why the change in 7 so what is on iTunes doesn't match what is on the iPod?

For podcasts in 6, if you let iTunes handle the sync and set it to "keep all unplayed", podcasts were not removed from iTunes until the "last played date" was populated. This allowed partially played podcasts to remain on the iPod until completed.
Now in 7, with the same settings, podcasts are removed from the iPod when the "unplayed flag" (blue dot in iTunes list) is off - which happens if it is played for any length (even if it was accidental - no way to reset the flag on iPod). It is not deleted from iTunes until the "last played date" has been filled in (when the last second of the file has been played). If you reset the unplayed flag on iTunes, it also resets the pointer in the file, so you lose your place of what you were listening to.
So effectively, in 6, iTunes and iPod both showed the same things (files and pointers) when you sync-ed. In 7, they don't and won't as "keep all unplayed" is not treated the same for both.
WHY? It was working. WHY CHANGE IT?!
If you wanted to "fix" something:
Get the iTunes to treat podcasts differently that other files. If my settings say "only sync podcasts marked in the list" then podcasts that are not marked in the list shouldn't be copied to my iPod. They don't show up in the podcast area but THE INDIVIDUAL FILES ARE COPIED INTO THE MUSIC SECTION! That takes up space on my iPod for things I set not to be there in the preferences! The only way to stop it is to set "sync only checked selections" and go thru the podcasts and individually "uncheck" everything in the podcasts I set for it NOT to include in the first place. Which also means that has to be done manually over and over when new podcasts I ONLY want on my PC in iTunes get new episodes.

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.
    Strange iPod behaviour.

  • ITunes doesn't launch automatically when iPhone is connected

This used to work fine...I'd attached my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook via USB, iTunes would automatically launch and begin synching my iPhone. Then (I'm not exactly sure what happened...perhaps it was an update, or a spate of time when I was travelling and using a spotty wireless connection, I'm not sure), but for several weeks now, iTunes no longer autolaunches and synchs when I connect the iPhone.
    I did some tests:
iTunes does autolaunch when I connect my iPod Classic.
I can open iTunes manually, and iTunes sees my iPhone and syncs it automatically.
When I connect my iPhone, iPhoto does come up automatically if I have photos to sync.
The iPhone makes it's happy little connection sound when attached to the laptop via USB and still charges.
Under iTunes Preferences, Devices, I still have "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from synching automatically" unchecked.
So the only thing I can see that is not working here is autolaunch of iTunes via iPhone.
    I have iTunes 10.4(80)
    iPhone 4.3.5
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    Any ideas?

I’ve found another solution for those where this doesn’t resolve it.
    From user Crosbie at MacForums.com
You can extract iTunes Helper from the iTunes package, if you like, to replace the absent one.
It can be found by right-clicking the iTunes app and choosing 'Show Package Contents'; then navigate down to the 'MacOS' folder. You can then drag it to your open 'login items' window.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1194774
This solved the issue for me, where unchecking and re-checking didn’t.

  • Itunes doesn t open automatically when iphone 4 is plugged

hi guys....still have this stupid problem....my itunes10 doesn t open automatically when my iphone4(5.0.1)is plugged even if the box(open itunes when iphone is connected is "on")........tried everything but still not working.......what should i do??should i delete itunes and downloaded again??
    thanks

    Hey Alexander,
Has iTunes Helper been removed from the login items? Go to System Preferences> Accounts> Login Items.
You can add it again manually as described here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1610692
you can also get it back by downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes.

  • ITunes doesn't see my new iPhone

This is wierd- when I connect my new iPhone to my PowerbookG4, iPhoto pops up. But not iTunes.
The iTunes page doesn't see iPhone is connected. So I can't sync. I believe it could be my operating system is outdated. I've tried to download updated OS, but message I get after download is 'this system can't be loaded on your computer" or something like that. I have been able to download the latest iTunes software, so that's not the problem. I was able to initially activate the iPhone on my newer desktop iMac at home... which has 10.4.whatever. But lots of my stuff is on this older G4.
    Now what

    Kurt,
If your PowerBook G4 is running an OS that is older than 10.4 as well as an older version of iTunes, chances are, you're not going to be able to make the iPhone sync with iTunes. My advice would be to copy your songs and information to a thumb drive/CD/DVD/external hard drive and put them onto your home iMac. Since the phone obviously works with this machine, it may be your only choice.
Sorry that I couldn't be of better assistance.

  • ITunes doesn't back up my iPhone 4 automatically

I think I may have used a terminal script on my mac a while ago to turn off automatic backups on my old iPod, and I found a script that is supposed to reactivate it, however doing so doesn't seem to automatically backed up my phone. I discovered this problem when I restored my iPhone yesterday, and there was no saved backup!
Also, I have now set up my phone as I wish, so I right clicked on my phone in iTunes and select Backup (in order to make a manual backup), however, the backup takes only 2 seconds.... I fail to see how it backed up my whole phone in this time.

I'm pretty sure iTunes no longer has the "automatically sync" feature, or at least I can't find it. But, yeah, the Apple tech guy is crazy or misspoke: Of course iTunes backs up app data. That's the whole point.
When you press "Sync" in iTunes, a backup is will take place. However, it will only transfer things that have been changed or added since your last backup. This could explain the 2 second backup.
To make sure it's backing up your data, take a look in:
    Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
This folder will contain your backup files. You should see lots of files named with random letters and numbers. Take a look at the file dates to make sure they are recent.
    Hope this helps!
