Icon in Top Left Changes After Gnome 2.10 Upgrade

I upgraded to gnome 2.10 and the icon (the foot) in the top left on the apps menu changed from my custom (apple) icon back to the default.
Any idea how to fix it?
It's a minor thing, but I can't figure it out and it's annoying me.

In GConf editor, go to apps -> panel -> objects -> menu_bar and click on the custom_icon checkbox. That will allow you to specify a custom icon.
Hope that helps,
God

  • Missing rectangular red Firefox icon at top left

After a complete failure of my computer's motherboard, I now have a new computer. I downloaded a copy of Firefox as before which is release 7.0.1 which tells me it is up to date. The red rectangular icon at top left marked Firefox which I was used to seeing and using is no longer there. Can you explain this and tell me how to get it back? There are also other differences in the layout compared to what I was seeing before and I have been unable to restore the same layout using the available setup options. Thank you.

  • Want to install x mavericks on macbook but don't have apple apps icon in apple icon on top left hand corner of screen

Want to install XMavericks on Mackbook but do not have apple apps store in apple icon on top left hand corner of screen. All information tells me to click on this icon in order to install XMavericks. but I can't. What csn I do? Please help a computer learner. Thank you from Carmel

You would need to find out if your computer could even run Mavericks 10.9 before going through the hoops to get it; first thing would be to buy the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD install disc, those sell for about $19. Then be sure to backup your system on the computer to an external archive (hard disk drive) then try & do the upgrade to 10.6; and then use Software Update in the system to look for update parts for it, including 10.6.8.
Also a later version of Flash player/plugin and other parts. A newer browser such as Firefox, too, may be an idea if the included Safari is not up to date.
Considerations include enough chip RAM installed, depending on what model MacBook you have this can vary; and enough free-space on the hard disk drive for the system and applications to work correctly; as OS X does use free space or unused capacity as temporary files and virtual memory to supplement installed chip RAM.
You can use a 'serial number lookup service' online to help determine the MacBook build model/year and whatever update or upgrade it may be capable.
Some early models of MacBook (coreduo 1.83, 2.0) have an upper limit on the OS X version they can use, later models with the core2duo may also have a few among their vintage that may not be suitable for Mavericks. There are several users of these who do not go past Snow Leopard if they have no newer applications, since older applications with Rosetta helping them run, won't work in a later system w/o Rosetta.
    So there are considerations.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Help - Duplicate icons in top left corner of screen

Just been using my iPad, and during an app update (a free one from the apps store), my screen suddenly changed, and now the home screen has a pile of icons on top of each other in the top left corner of the screen. These icons are duplicates of the ones on my home screen, and the ones in the original places don't work.
I can drag these new icons away from the top left, and I end up with two of each icon on the home screen, but only one works. Also, I can drop them anywhere on the screen, and other icons don't move to make way like they did before. However, as soon as I scroll across to another screen and then scroll back to the home screen, the pile of icons is back in the top left.
There is also a new icon called Productivity, which looks like a container for other icons. I have no idea where this came from, as I've never seen it before. If I open it, it has three of my apps inside, messages, ibooks and notes. I can drag these back onto the home screen, but again, when I scroll away and back, things are as they were with the three apps inside this productivity.
Anyone any idea what's going on? The iPad is pretty unusable now.
    Thanks for any help.

Three of your apps ended up in a folder that was somehow created on your iPad. That folder was named Productivity by the iPad.
Restart or reset the iPad and see if you can control the apps on the screen afterward.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Add Icon at top left of Application Install window

How do I add an icon to the top left of the Application Install window? I have seen a few apps with this feature. I have already added the standard 16,32,48,128 icons with no issues.
Is this a matter of having a verified code signed certificate?
    Thanks!

OK, so the icon will automatically show up at the top left when packaged with a signed code cert.
Is the icon grabbed from the standard set of icons? I'm assuming it's the 128 icon.
I couldn't find any documentation on this, perhaps my search skills are lacking.
    Thanks again,

  • Volume keys don't work anymore after Gnome 2.26 upgrade

I have two pc: a desktop and a laptop. The desktop doesn't have this problem. While on the laptop, a sony vaio fz21s, after the recent gnome 2.26 upgrade, the volume keys don't work. The osd appears on the screen but no change in volume is observed. Through the gnome-volume-applet i set "Principal" as main device. Controlling the volume with the gnome-volume-applet works.

  • Icons are gone in MyGtkMenu after gnome update

    Hello,
the icons of MyGtkMenu disappeared after the gnome 2.28 update, does somebody have the same issue?

Well, I use mygtkmenu as well but with a specific icon theme, not the gnome one.
As you have to specify the full path in the config file, have you checked that the gnome update has not changed the path to those icons and so make them not accessible anymore ?
In other words, what do you have in your /usr/share/icons vs. your mygtkmenu config script ?

  • Monitor no longer powers down after Gnome 2.26 upgrade

As the title says, after upgrading to Gnome 2.26, my monitor no longer powers off after my set 10 minutes.  I have fiddled with the power manager settings, but the monitor now just stays on the screensaver forever and won't sleep.  Anyone else?

It's possible, but one component doesn't necessarily requires another component of the same version. GDM has been on "2.20" for a long time now and it still works. gnome-power-manager 2.26 has just hit the repositories though.

  • Cant shift virtual desktops after gnome 2.28 upgrade

Im using openbox, it wont work with mouse over desktop, and with keybinding.
And submenu on right click on taskbar (move to #desktop) is gone.
I guess system thinks that there is only 1 desktop.
Oh! Why did I update, will I ever learn????

I was a joke ngoonee, about updating.
    Here:
(openbox:3273): Openbox-WARNING **: Openbox is configured for 4 desktops, but the current session has 1.  Overriding the Openbox configuration.
I have told you its not openbox to blame, but new gnome...
I have tried metacity, and it shows 4 desktops. After that, I did openbox --replace and it also shows 4 desktops.
But when I log out or restart, problem is back.

  • Mpd not playing after gnome 2.28 upgrade

I upgraded to gnome 2.28 today and now mpd wont play any tracks. I tried using both sonata and mpc but neither of them can play a track. I was getting this error...
Oct 14 12:40 : avahi: Client Disconnected, will reconnect shortly
Oct 14 12:40 : avahi: Could not reconnect: Daemon not running
So I started the two daemons that are related to avahi in the rc.d folder, avahi-daemon and avahi-dnsconfd, now the mpd.log file says...
Oct 14 15:38 : avahi: Service 'Music Player' successfully established.
Oct 14 15:38 : avahi: Service 'Music Player' successfully established.
But still mpd doesn't play anything. Can someone help me solve this problem, do I need to provide you with more information? Thanks for any help.
    PS: Exaile works just fine.

Nepherte wrote:I've always prefered running mpd as a user without a daemon and running mpd as root is certainly not advised. But seeing that it works for you as root, do you have sufficient permissions for your music directory? If you're interested in setting up mpd as a regular user without a daemon, see http://www.nepherte.be/howto-use-mpd-an … ike-a-pro/
Thanks, that link helped me out, I guess I will just run mpd as a user now instead of the daemon or root.

  • Stamping slowed to a crawl after 10.5.7 upgrade

not sure if this is the only problem, i am still waiting on the bar to progress.....
we really need an upgrade to aperture, this is getting ridiculous...
also: my 5DII files were supported in 10.5.6, so what changed with 10.5.7? the 5DII is listed as now supported? i was hoping for tether support, but no, of course not.....
about the title of this topic.....a stamp that used to take about 10 sec now takes 10 minutes.....first i thought it was writing the previews at the same time and that was the reason for the slowdown, but it isn't...it is just beyond slow....
please someone tell me that an upgrade is in the works otherwise i will have to start using LR again and leave this mess for good....
