  • I'm trying to find a reasonable amount for a computer to play Sims however.......

on the Sims 3 website, it only let's you play the game with a good video card/graphic card. I have been trying for months to find good graphic cards and laptops and computers when I remembered that Apple might have a computer that is just right for me . and I saw today that they had a new Mac so I was thinking this must be perfect but a lot of people said that the Macs didn't have a DVD drive and so do think I should get an old mac, get a Lenovo laptop or get a Sony Vaio laptop???? please help me

i'm a big fan for the sims franchise myself so this topic obviously piqued my interest. let me first apologize for the long post, but i want you to be informed.
ok, i'm no technical expert by any means, but i can give some advice (from a mac simmer to a potential mac simmer). if  you are looking to play the game with higher graphics setting i would go the desktop route. from speaking with other gamers they experience little to no lag playing on desktops and many remark how much better the game looks on their imac than on their mbp. one person in particular (an owner of the lower priced 21" even remarked that it felt like night and day playing on the imac). s
econdly, i would recommend you have a lot of patience. currently a VERY large number of mac users are experiencing problems with ea's latest patch,1.42. Technical issues from crashing every 5-10 minutes (like me), icrashing upon entering create-a-sim (which eliminates any progression in the stylist career, does not allow you to make over sims, or even create a family), wierd graphics when seasons change (almost like a wall of color that just stays there), a red cross graphical glitch (what appears to be a large multicolored object similar to the red cross symbol appears on your screen causing it to crash), errors when saving which often result in the complete loss of your current game, debug errors (which automatically close your game causing you to lose that town), etc. Mind you many of these glitches showed up just before or right around the time the seasons expansion pack was released (mid november of last year) and EA has yet to release a patch to fix the issue.
to be fair there have been some pc users that have complained about some or all of these issues as well. also, for some reason ea has really been dragging their feet with fixing these bugs, usually they are resolved within a month or less. i will however say that up until this expansion pack i had some bugs, but  not too many to completely discourage game play. At one point relationships couldn't progress at another point large crowds that would gather to protest in front of the city hall would get stuck. a work around some mac simmers have started doing was using bootcamp (not parallels) to play and most have reported their games are bug free and performance is even better than in os x....some however still have problems.
taking all of that into consideration, i still love apple and the customer service it provides and i don't forsee myself buying anything other than apple in the future. i just wanted to make  you an informed purchaser if your main motivation for buying a new computer is the sims 3.

  • Unable to Restore iPhone after it crashed

My 3GS iPhone running iOS 4.1 crashed while quietly sitting on my desk at work. The only thing I can currently do with my iPhone is make emergency iCalls. When I got home from work I attempted to restore my iPhone but iTunes requires me to enter my passcode. I am not able to enter my passcode because my iPhone iCrashed. Any iNformation about how I can get around an iCrash when my iPhone that can only prompt me to connect to iTunes to do an iRestore would be greatly appreciated.

    Try a DFU restore?

  • How to rewind iTunes (from 7.0 to older versions)!!!!!!!!

i recently tried this and worked fine with me, i work with WINDOWS XP not iMacs
Here's what you got to do:
1: Very Important Step!!!, back up your library and then save it in a place where you can find it easily later, do not save it on the folder containing iTunes default library files
2: Uninstall iTunes 7 (it doesnt even deserve that name, iCrash would fit perfectly dont you think??)
3: go to the folder that contains the iCrash library files (the default ones), erase them, also erase the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder, but, do not erase the back up you did before AND the "iTunes Music" folder
since both are linked and they cannot work if either one is missing
4: now you can install the previous iTunes version you want to, then, make sure it can open up/load up, now click on "file", select "import" (this option depends on how older the iTunes is, i rewinded it to 6.0.5 ver.), now search the backup you did before and double-click it...
5: Voila!, now you're the proud user of a real iTunes, not the "impossibly better" iCrash 7.0
If you have any trouble after doing this, post a comment down there...

hey der feniks! Could you walk me thru backing up my music to a safe place? My stuff is so messed up after trying to follow apples instructions, I'm afraid of doing anything else. I still have ALL my music in my file and if I lose that, well, imagine!
So if you could tell me how to do that so I can re-load my itunes that came with my 30 gig, I'd appreciate it. I haven't been able to access my music for over a week. And spent an hour and a half on the phone with apple tech support. After they walked me thru everything, it still didn't work. So since they didn't know, they tell me it has to do with my microsoft software. Which, I had no problems with it messing up my other itunes installs. I would just like to be able to access my music! I actually went out and bought a cd today, because I can't buy it thru itunes!!
    Thanks!

  • Why don't some podcasts show up on my ipod? They appear in my iTunes library.

I have a number of podcasts in my iTunes library, but only 2 of them actually show up on my iPod (one in the podcasts section, another in the music section). I've created a playlist of podcasts, but that doesn't show up on my iPod either. Any and all
