  • How to find the number of occurance of a string in text field of Infopath form?

    Hi All,
    In Infopath text field, How to find the number of occurrence of a particular string in that field?
    Thanks in advance!

    You can check to see if it contains a string once by using the contains function, but there isn't a very clean way to do what you want. If you wanted to guess at the maximum number of occurrences, then you could:
    Box A has your initial. Set Box B to do a concat of string-before and string-after of Box A where it copies Box A minus the string we're looking for. Then we have Box C that does the same thing to Box B. Repeat as many times as you see necessary.
    Example:
    String: "1"
    Box A - "123451234512345"
    Box B - "23451234512345"
    Box C - "2345234512345"
    Box D - "234523452345"
    etc.
    We then have a field that has nested ifs looking backwards from Z -> A looking for a non-blank. Based on that, we return the number of occurrences. Again, this isn't clean, but it will work if you think there's a predefinable maximum.

  • Blank line in string value in insert statement causing problems

    I am generating an sql statement (insert) from an xml document using xsl transformation that is later run in an sqlplus session. The issue I am coming across is that one of the tags contains free-form text that can be any number of lines. Most strings are not causing a problem, but when there is a blank line in the string (two or more endline characters together) sqlplus seems to think this signifies the end of a statement. Here is an example that I hope will clarify what is being created.
    INSERT INTO MYTABLE VALUES('THIS WORKS', 0, NULL, ...);
    INSERT INTO MYTABLE VALUES('THIS
    ALSO
    WORKS', 0, NULL, ...);
    INSERT INTO MYTABLE VALUES('THIS
    DOES NOT
    WORK', 0, NULL, ...);
    Anyone seen this problem before or have a quick fix? All I can come up with is to pre-process the xml document (which, by the way, I have no control over the format as it comes from a client) to compress vertical whitespace. (This seems like overkill to me). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    I don't know if this will work for u.
    If ur string has more than one end of lines and u don't need them, u can replace them by a single space using
    replace(string,chr(13)||chr(10),' ').
    If this does not solve ur problem then probably ur srting has a special charachter. To remove it
    take the ascii value of the special character and then see what is the corresponding chr value and then use replace function in ur insert statement where u find this special character.
    I too face same kind of problem and this worked for me.

  • How do I retrieve the Identifier number from iPad 2, running iOS 5.1.1?

    I am trying to de-bug a game on my daughter's iPad 2, running iOS 5.1.1, and want to send the Advertising Identifier number to the game developer. However, I seem to be unable to retrieve the number.
    I tried downloading the app "the identifiers," but whenever I click "i" to enable numbers, it crashes.
    Also, when I visit the apple support page for retrieving the advertising identifier name, it says to enter "oo.apple.com" on the device, but that link seems to only redirect back to itself.
    Very frustrating. How else might I locate the Advertising Identifier?
    Message was edited by: chris romano

    Oh, another mistake on my part!
    I need to ENABLE the identifier on the iPad2 iOS 5.1.1... this should get The Identifier app working, and then I can read the number and tell them.
    However, on iOS 5.1.1, there is no Settings > Privacy > Advertising that I have been able to find.
    I apologize for all the fumbles on my end... I put this problem down a week ago and I am just picking it back up, so I kind of forgot some important details. Doh!

  • Number of characters in a string

    Hi,
    I need to find the number of characters in a string. For instance, i have a string type variable with the value "ABAP". How can i know how many letters "A" there are in that string? Is there any FM that does this?
    Cheers,
    Roberto

    Hi,
    you can make use of string operation FIND as:
    DATA: text1 TYPE string VALUE `A`,
             text TYPE string,
          off  TYPE i,
          moff TYPE i,
          mlen TYPE i.
    off = 0.
    WHILE sy-subrc = 0.
      FIND text1 IN SECTION OFFSET off OF
           `ABAP`
           MATCH OFFSET moff
           MATCH LENGTH mlen.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        WRITE / moff.
        off = moff + mlen.
      ENDIF.
    ENDWHILE.

  • Method to count number of characters in a string?

    hi.
    i'm trying to write some script that will count the number of characters in a string passed into a constructor and then compare it against another value to check whether the string passed in is valid.
    something like this
    public class Stringcheck
    public static int maxStringLength;
    public static double minSize;
    public static boolean testStringLength(String x)
    // Insert method for counting number of chars in String x and name as 'int numberOfChars
    if(number of Chars <= maxStringLength )
    return true;
    else
    return false;
    can someone help me with writing this script.

    String test = "this is the test string";
    int length = test.length();

  • A quick way to count the number of  newlines '/n' in string of 200 chars

    I am trying to establish the number of lines that a string will generate.
    I can do this by counting the number of '/n' in the string. However my brute force method (shown below) is very slow.
    Normally this would not be a problem on a 2800mhz Athlon (Standard) PC this takes < 1 second. However this code resides within a speed critical loop (not shown). The code shown below is a Achilles heal as far as the performance of this speed critical loop goes.
    Can anyone suggest a faster way to count the number of /n (new lines) within a text string of around 50- 1000 chars, given that there may be 10 100 newline chars. Speed is a very important factor for this part of my program.

    Well, here is a C version. On my computer the Java version (reply 9 above) is slightly faster than C. YMMV. For stuff like this a compiler can be hard to beat even with assembler, as you need to do manual loop unrolling and method inlining which turn assembly into a maintenance nightmare.
    // gcc -O6 -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -finline -o newlines.exe newlines.c

    Hi
    What you need to do is parse the file in such a way that you read /*, */ and // as tokens. By that I mean rather than read a line at a time (although I'm sure you could), read it character by character. So every time you reach a new line character then increment the counter. But there are two casaes when you don increment the counter they are:
    If you encounter a / followed by * then keep reading but if you encounter a newline character then DONT increment the counter ONLY continue counting when you read a * followed by a / (as this is the end of the comment)
    If you encounter / followed by another / then do not count that particular line and go to the next line and continue counting from there.
    Where I've written 'continue counting' this is subject to the lines that follow not conforming to the above two cases.
    I hope this helps.
