Identify the TYPE using CL_ABAP_DATADESCR

we have a custom field ROLE  with the Data element as ZDOA_ROLE in a table ZTABLE.
CODE SAMPLE 1
data gs_comp          TYPE abap_componentdescr.
gs_comp-type ?=  cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_data( 'ROLE' ).
gs_comp-name = gs_comp-type->get_relative_name( ).
when i write the above code,  the name is blank.
CODE SAMPLE 2
do_type =  cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'ROLE' ).
it dumps, stating ROLE type is not available
CODE SAMPLE 3
do_type =  cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'ZDOA_ROLE' ).
it returns the type is ZDOA_ROLE.
"--NOT USEFUL because i cannot pass the Data element, I can only pass Field name
Priority is to find the type from the Field.
Can any body suggest me, a better way to get the Type of the Field and not by the Data element ?

Any work around ? because i cannot mention the table name,

Requirement: based on the tab delimited file upload in Web Dynpro, I need to identify which table data (mostly our Custom ZDOA tables which are around 10) was uploaded and updated the corresponding table .
These two statements seem contradictory. If you know that the file must be one of your ZDOA tables, than you can get the table name(s) by finding all tables that match the pattern ZDOA*
Once you know the possible tables, you can determine the structure of each table like this:
lo_structdescr ?= cl_abap_structdescr=>describe_by_name( 'ZDOA_TABLE' ).
li_components = lo_structdescr->get_components( ).
li_components is a table of the names and type descriptors for each field in the structure. You can loop through this table, comparing the names of each field to the field names given in the header of the tab-delimited file.

    How to identify the type of pocketpc barcode scanner whteher it is intermec or symbol?
    GS

    Hi,
    well, this is the brand of the PDA - the Scanner itself is build into the device. So if you have an intermec device - you have an intermec scanner and vice versa. It is not recommended to use a HP device for example with an external scanner. This scenario is not really supported by the MI setup guides.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to identify the type of font?

    Hi,
    I need to identify the type of font(open type or true type) through programmatically among the system fonts. I am using Illustrator CS3 for windows platform. Please guide me in doing this.
    Thank You.

    In the document info panel (Windows>Document Info) from the flyout you can select font details and all the fonts in the document as well as the type of font as well and of course the fonts name. The document info can be save with all the info about the document as well as the fonts.
    That info document can be opened in a number of applications such as Excel a script editor which in turn might allow you the ability to extract he font info you are looking for but the document info pretty much is scripted to grab this info in a prescribed way so it must be scriptable and so you should go to the Illustrator scripting forum to see if there is perhaps a script that already exists for this purpose.
    What do you need to do with this info once you have it?
    Or is the document info the thing you are actually looking for? I would think you need no more than that.

    If there is an Illustrator SDKor Illustrator Scripting forum, try

    The code below will prompt the user with the type face of a single text-frame.

    // 5/4/2009
    // Open a new document and create a single text box
    // with some type in it.

  • How to identify the type of transaction from hr_api_transactions?

    Hi,
    I want to identify type of transaction from HR_API_TRANSACTIONS.
    I want to find a particular transaction is of CREATE/ UPDATE or DELETE transaction.
    I have checked values of different columns.
    However, I am not able to differentiate between transactions.
    Any pointers on this!!
    Thanks!!
    Best Regards,
    Narender

    I have found that in R12, the table HR_API_TRANSACTION_VALUES is not holding the desired values.
    Instead of this table, we have information in the transaction_document column of HR_API_TRANSACTIONS.
    And we can read this column to identify the type of transaction.
    Thanks!!

  • How to identify the type of Jammer/interference source

    hi all,
    im trying to identify the interference source but found no reference to type of Jammers. is there a reference?
    Mon May 5 12:12:30 2014     AP US052TXPEA-ASL34[0] (64:e9:50:67:ae:90) Device ID: 0x5012, Type: Jammer[19], Severity: 64, Channels: 6, Cluster ID: 30:bf:e0:01:1a:ef, Previous Cluster ID: 30:bf:e0:01:1a:ef, Event: Set
    thanks

    Kuan,
    As you know, there is always some level of RF interference all around us. When it comes to mitigating RF interference if it becomes a real issue with clients not being able to work wirelessly, one needs to look at the type of business environment they are running, what type of businesses are around them and what sort of devices are being used in their environment itself to aid in troubleshooting. If you have cisco prime, you can easily check the duty cycle to get a good idea what type of jammer it might be. If you have 3600 APs, you can use the Cisco Spectrum Expert within Prime to launch Spectrum analyzer on that specific AP to see what is happening as well. In WLC you can take a look at clean air and interference devices to see what sort of interferers the APs are seeing. Hope this helps.

  • Identify the table used in payables

    Hey there,
    I can identify the block, column and value in Oracle Payables using Select Help->Diagnostics->Examine.
    My question is given the BLOCK name that it returns is it possible to identify what the underlying TABLES/VIEWS are used to make the BLOCK?
    Thanks!
    Jonathan

    Change the Block so it reads as SYSTEM.
    Then select last query from the field LOV.
    This should bring up a query for the block.

    1)The jdbc driver is jturboJTurbo? Never heard of it. You mean this?
    http://www.newatlanta.com/products/jturbo/index.jsp
    Why pay for something when you have two options available that are free? One of them is from Microsoft itself. Whose idea was this?
    2)It's a desk top application.
    It seems to me that it should not be driver issue. I was this happened the Microsoft's own jdbc driver. By jdbc specification, although you don't close the connection explicitly in the program, the connection will be automatically closed in the java app end during garbage collection. Very bad - never depend on this. Always close your ResultSet, Statement, and Connection in reverse order of opening in a finally block, each one wrapped in individual try/catch blocks.
    One should never, ever depend on the GC to take care of resources like database connections or resource handles. Those should be cleaned up by your code.
    I tested this by intentionally not closing a connection. When I stops the application, the connection in the sql server end was also closed.
    But if you don't close the application and fail to close connections, you can see where eventually you'll exhaust the pool.
    It seems to me this is a sql server issue rather than a jdbc driver issue. I need way to prove this.
    Like I suggested, it's easy to swap in the jTDS driver and try it again. What do you have to lose?
    Or call Microsoft support and ask them. Or maybe JTurbo. You're paying for it - might as well use the support.

  • Please help me identify the filters used in this image

    Hey there folks!
    I currently have a contract with a lingerie company, who want me to make a collage quite similar to the following image, which they have provided me with. Mine will be obviously much different, but the same idea...a little boutique shop front but with Paris in the backgrounds etc with one colour and lots of glowing lights and stars.
    What I am wondering, as I am quite new to Photoshop collages (I usually use it for retouching images etc), is how was this image put together, what kind of effects were used? How many different images have been used in this one?
    So far I have a street lamp, a shop front, a girl, and an image of Paris at night. I'm especially unsure about how to do that circular gradient around the image - and the company are absolutely mad for it!
    Thanks so much folks!

    What I am wondering, as I am quite new to Photoshop collages (I usually use it for retouching images etc), is how was this image put together, what kind of effects were used? How many different images have been used in this one?
    The image is a bit small to judge, but it could have been shot with the lamp and storefront as props on a reflective flooring and even the background might have been in the studio – the last one I doubt, though, because it does not reflect in the floor.
    Anyway, if you do make a montage I personally find it important to
    • combine the parts as Smart Objects,
    • do the object-clipping with Layers Masks in the Smart Objects and
    • use Adjustment Layers for color corrections.
    As for
    glowing lights and stars
    stars are fairly easily faked (if one has low enough standards) with a white Solid Color Layer set to Blend Mode Dissolve and the Opacity and Fill Opacity reduced accordingly; for different sizes convert to Smart Object, duplicate and upscale.
    Glows can be done various ways. For example making a SO-duplicate, using the Filters Maximum and Gaussian Blur and setting the layer to Blend Mode Screen (if necessary use the Blend If-settings to limit the effect).

  • How to identify the encoding used in a file ?

    Hi all,
    I have to read a file and check it is encoded in UTF-8. How I can do this ?. If fiel is saved in MS Windows I can check for BOM. What if the file is saved using Java API ?. Is there any code(copy left code) available for doing this ?
    rgds
    Antony Paul

    The problem is that ther eare no definite tests for character encoding. A particular byte stream can be valid in any number of different encodings (even if the resulting characters are not correct). If the characters don't happen to include any above unicode 127 then a UTF-8 stream is identical to the same characters in any number of different encodings.
    It's not just a matter of there being no code for it in the library, it's impossible to do with any certainty, and to do it even probabalistically you'd have to run the results through a multi-lingual spelling checker.
    If you just ask java.io to open a Reader without specifying an encoding it will assume the default encoding of your system.
