Identifying Radio Columns in Radio Group for Authorization

Hi friends,
I have a single radio group page item which has a 3 no.of columns. I have defined a static lov definition for it as it shows three values for the three column in a single radio group page item. These are the values.
<li> Self
<li> On behalf of
<li> New Hire
I need to restrict these three values according to the user roles. For that i can write an authorization and take the users corresponding to their roles.
But how i can refer this authorization according to the values that radio group has. Since that radio button is a single page item.
I need to restrict the three values of the radio button to the three set of users under the specific roles.
I wrote the three sets of authorization which is filtering the three set of role users, accordingly to their login in the application. But how to refer these three authorization rules to a single radio group page item.
If it is a single authorization means, i can refer it to that radio group page item under the security section.
How to refer these three sets of authorization to a single radio group page item.
Brgds,
Mini

Write a PL/SQL authorization function that returns a Boolean or a Y/N based on knowing the role and the radio group item. Pass in the Role and the Radio Group select item.
Write an LOV for the Radio Group which is a query that adds the Radio Group item if the authorization passes and does not include it if the authorization fails
ie.
SELECT 'Self' FROM DUAL WHERE SECURITY_PKG.Role_has_auth(role_name, 'SELF') = 'Y'
UNION ALL
SELECT 'On Behalf of' FROM DUAL WHERE SECURITY_PKG.Role_has_auth(role_name, 'ON BEHALF OF') = 'Y'
UNION ALL
SELECT 'New Hire' FROM DUAL WHERE SECURITY_PKG.Role_has_auth(role_name, 'NEW HIRE') = 'Y'

  • No provisioning of User Group for authorization field in user master

    We are implementing CUP 5.3 workflows. Both in manual proviosing and automated provisioning based on User Defaults the user group gets only provisioned to the Groups tab in SU01. The field User Group for authorization on the Logon data tab remains empty (field CLASS from system table USLOGOND, filling CLASS field in table USR02).
    In User defaults both under user default as on the user group tab the user groups have been defined. In manual provisioning the correct list of user groups get displayed for selection.
    Under field mapping in the Application field I only find User Group in user master maintenance, but not User group for authorization. However I would assume I do not need to use field mapping, as I want to automate this provisioning based on user defaults.
    Am I missing a configuration setting here? If so, where can I set it?
    I would assume the provisioning of this field is possible. RAR reports the user group also based on the User group for auhtorization and not from the Groups tab.

    S.Pados,
    I can assure you that what I said in my last response does provision the User Group For Authorization Check on the Logon Data tab; in fact, I was having the opposite issue where the Group tab was not being provisioned; however, I am ruunning AE 5.2 and you said you are running 5.3; maybe something did change or got lost in the releases; it probably is good to see what SAP has to say about this; I would hate to lose this capapbility when I upgrade to AE 5.3
    As far as using the custom field for multiple applications, would that field not be usable for any of the applications you would select in the request form?; if you are using the same table names in the different SAP systems (selectable by the application field on the request) would the drop down selections be whatever the table has defined for that system? I may not be understanding something here so I am just asking;
    It would be great to have a Group field automatically filled in by another selection to avoid the user involvement; I agree with you there; because of our concerns on users entering the AE request, our shop has decided to continue with the users submitting the request through normal email and the security administrators perform the AE entering; this way we have a better idea on something like the GROUP field; we have an option to include the original email as an attachment for justification of the request
    Sorry I could not be of more help

  • User Group for Authorization Check

    I created a user group called SYSTEM and assigned all our companies system accounts to it. Two examples of additional SYSTEM accounts I added to the SYSTEM user group are: DDIC & SAPBATCH. I did not register this group or apply any special conditions. Since doing so, several system accounts constantly become locked.
    Is it safe to delete the SYSTEM user group?

    Did you create it on SAP Service Marketplace?

    The need to override paint() is that i want to show an image for which i am trying to use g.drawimage() method in paint. I don't know whether i can show an Image in a panel or not .
    The image that i want to show is in a byte[] array. For which i was previously using
    ImageIcon img = new ImageIcon(buffer);
    Then i took a JLabel
    JLabel label = new JLabel();
    label.setIcon(img);
    The problem in using this method is that i am continously updating this buffer with a timer and it continously update the image on the label. This shows flickering in the display .
    whereas if i use g.drawimage of paint method it does not show any flickering but then i am unable to use my other panels of Applet.
    Please tell me is there any imagelabel kind of a component on which i can show an image .

  • Radio group in classic report based on another column on the same row.

    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    Application Express 4.1.0.00.32
    How can I have a radio group column based on an LOV utilizing another column on the same row of the report?
    For example: what if I had a survey application and depending on the likert scale that was assigned to the question there would be different possible answer choices:
    Question 1 on row 1 of the report: The class instructor was friendly?
    Likert scale choice is Agreement.
    Choices on Radio Group: Strongly Agree, Agree, Undecided, Strongly Disagree
    Question 2 on row 2 of the report: The class offered good materials?
    Likert scale choice is Quality.
    Choices on Radio Group: Excellent, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Excellent
    The radio group can change per row depending on the Likert scale assigned to the question which is assigned to a different column on the row.
    Can LOV utilize the column? :
    SELECT scale_text
    FROM scale_choices
    WHERE scale_category_choice_id = 2 <<= this would be the Likert scale identifier
    ORDER
    BY display_order

    Here is the answer:

  • Radio group with URL for image in a table

    I'm trying to display some text and an image for a radio group so the form looks like
    (*) text for item 1 {image for item 1}
    ( ) text for item 2 {image for item 2}
    ( ) text for item 3 {image for item 3}
    I've found these:
    Re: Is it possible to display an image instead of button in a radio group?
    How to show image in radio group ?
    It looks like all I have to do is create a LOV that looks like:
    SELECT {complex stuff that generates the text string, img tag, and URL for image}
      ,DB_PK
    FROM dynamic_view_for_lov -- public synonym
    But, my images are stored in a table.
    I have been able to create an IR using the "Column Format=BLOB" method.
    The SQL for the report looks like:
    select
      db_pk, display_text, image_len, image_clob
    from dynamic_view_for_lov -- public synonym
    And the Number/Date Format for the IMAGE_LEN column is:
    IMAGE:DYNAMIC_VIEW_FOR_LOV:IMAGE_BLOB:DB_PK::::::Inline:Download
    My question:  How do I create the URL for the img tag for the LOV?
    many thanks

    For the person in the future, you have to 'fake create' the Automated Row Fetch process.
    The get_blob_file_src gets all the information from that Process and the column name of the Item Type that is on the same page.
    I forgot where I read about that trick.
    Basically, you create the Automated Row Fetch process, then 'disable' it.
    Same thing with the required Item Type.  Create it as a "File Type", just to tell APEX that it comes from a Database Column,.... then change it to a 'hidden' type.
    You don't have to "fake' it if the application already contains the file upload item and ARF. The assumption is that the application will contain these components in order to maintain the BLOBs and you'll just reference the functional ones.

  • Cross column radio group solution using dynamically generated HTML

    I am tasked with creating a screen in Apex matching look and feel of an existing application screen; tabular form, multiple column radio buttons to update a single column value (radio group needs to be row oriented, across multiple columns). I could not find a way to use HTMLDB_ITEM.RADIO_GROUP () function for this due to the radio group being column based, great as a row selector but not for use across columns (each button being a column).
    My first thought was to comprise and use checkboxes via HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX () for the multiple choices (in each column) and HTMLDB_ITEM.HIDDEN() to hold the chosen value, a JavaScript function for “onClick” event to make the checkboxes in one row act like radio buttons in a radio group. I created a simple application to show the concepts of my solutions …
    SQL looks like this:
    select pk_id, -- f01
    object_to_color, -- f02
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(11, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f11, ''RED'')"', 'RED') red,
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(12, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f12, ''BLUE'')"', 'BLUE') blue,
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(13, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f13, ''GREEN'')"', 'GREEN') green,
    color_choice -- f03
    from objects_to_color
    Columns pk_id and color_choice are set as Show off and Display As Hidden. Note that my HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX items start with id number 11 (f11 – f13) so as not to conflict with the item id’s Apex will generate on it’s own. I could have used HTMLDB_ITEM functions to create all items and had my own PL/Sql update process.
    This creates a tabular presentation with a column for each color choice as a checkbox, shown checked if that color is initially set.
    The JavaScript function chkboxAction() clears the other checkboxes if a color is selected and stores the color in the hidden item db column for use in Apex Submit processing. Sorry the identation get's lost in the post!
    function chkboxAction (id, ckbx, color) {
    // f01 is pk_id (hidden)
    // f11 is RED checkbox
    // f12 is BLUE checkbox
    // f13 is GREEN checkbox
    // f03 db column color_choice for update (hidden)
    var idx;
    // Find row index using pk_id passed in as id argument.
    for (var i=0; i < document.wwv_flow.f01.length; i++) {
    if (document.wwv_flow.f01.value == id) {
    idx = i;
    i = document.wwv_flow.f01.length;
    if (ckbx(idx).checked == true) {
    // Set hidden color_choice column value to be used in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = color;
    // Uncheck them all, then reset the one chosen.
    document.wwv_flow.f11(idx).checked = false;
    document.wwv_flow.f12(idx).checked = false;
    document.wwv_flow.f13(idx).checked = false;
    ckbx(idx).checked = true;
    } else {
    // Unchecked so clear color_choice column value to be used in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = '';
    This works well and, as an aside, has an added feature that the color can be “unchosen” by unchecking a checked checkbox and leaving all checkboxes unchecked. This cannot be done with radio buttons unless a radio button is added as “no color”.
    But what if radio buttons must be used, as in my situation? Here is another solution using custom code to dynamically generate radio buttons for a row based radio group rather than using HTMLDB_ITEM.RADIO_GROUP ().
    select pk_id, -- f01
    object_to_color, -- f02
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_1" value="RED" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'RED', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''RED'')">' red,
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_2" value="BLUE" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'BLUE', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''BLUE'')">' blue,
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_3" value="GREEN" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'GREEN', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''GREEN'')">' green,
    color_choice -- f03
    from objects_to_color
    The pk_id column is used here to ensure a unique name and unique id for the items. In practice a custom api should be used to generate items in this way.
    The JavaScript function is actually simpler for radio buttons because the radio group handles the mutually exclusive logic for choosing a color.
    function rbAction (id, color) {
    // f01 is pk_id (hidden)
    // f03 db column color_choice for update (hidden)
    var idx;
    // Find row index using evaluation_question_id.
    for (var i=0; i < document.wwv_flow.f01.length; i++) {
    if (document.wwv_flow.f01.value == id) {
    idx = i;
    i = document.wwv_flow.f01.length;
    // Set hidden result column referenced in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = color;
    Now the problem is that on update, Apex will be confused by the custom items and try to post updated values to it’s own internal items – which don’t exist. The result is the very frustrating HTTP 404 - File not found error when apex/wwv_flow.accept executes on Submit. So, the trick is to clear the custom items prior to the update with a simple JavaScript function, then the values show again when the page is rerendered, if you are not branching from the page. The Submit button is changed to call the following function:
    function submit () {
    var items = document.getElementsByTagName("INPUT");
    for (i=0; i< items.length; i++) {
    if (items(i).type == "radio") {
    if (items(i).checked == true)
    items(i).checked = false;
    doSubmit('SUBMIT');
    This technique might have general use when using custom items. Comments or improvements on this?

  • Set report radio group row selector when a link column is clicked.

    Hi can anyone help?
    I have a sql report with a radio group record selector on the left, this is used on click to populate some extra fields on the page. I also have a link column on the right of the report that is used to display another popup page. What I want is to synchronize the radio group selector when the link is clicked (that is select and click the radio group of the current row when the link column is selected).
    Page layout
    rg1 row details link pen icon
    rg2 row details link pen icon
    rg3 row details link pen icon
    extra field 1
    extra field 2
    Report attributes - link column URL.
    JAVASCRIPT: modalWin2('f?p=&APP_ID.:#SHOW#:&SESSION.::::SAVE_STATUS:N');
    I’m assuming I can call another javascript function from the link URL above and somehow I get the number of the row of the link selected . I think if I can get that I can use the code below where n is the row number of the link selected.
    Javascript :-
    var l_check = $x_FormItems($x('EVENT_HIST1'), 'radio');
    l_check[n].checked=true;
    var l_click = l_check[n].click();
    Thanks Pete

    Pete:
    One way to solve your requirement is as below
    Change the report query to be something similar to
    select
    apex_item.radiogroup(40,empno,null,null,'id=rg_'||rownum) rad,
    ename,
    '<a href=javascript:fx('|| empno ||',' || '"rg_'|| rownum ||'")><img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#delete.gif"></a>' link_column
    from empAnd the JS function fx as function fx(emp,rgId) {
    $x(rgId).checked=true;     // checks radio on this row
    modalWin2('f?p=&APP_ID.:' + emp + ':&SESSION.::::SAVE_STATUS:N'); // popup page call
    }varad

  • Default Setting for a Radio Group not activated when Read-Only

    I have an Item on a page that is a Yes/No radio group. It is conditional read-only and has a conditional default value. Both the read-only section and the default section use PL/SQL blocks to determine there use. When the read-only condition is true the radio group is grayed out but neither the Yes or No button is checked. It then returns a null value when the page is submitted.

    See
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:105
    Default is Yes (http://tinypic.com/i39qh4.jpg)
    Readonly is true (http://tinypic.com/i39s7p.jpg)
    Rendering works fine.
    But when the page is submitted, the Yes value doesnt get into session state.
    This is because the read-only is implemented by setting disabled=disabled on the radio element.
    As per relevant standards (http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/forms/input.html), disabled form elements are not submitted during a POST operation.
    But if it is a readonly item with a default value, you already know the value (you put it there), so why do you need it in session state, just use the default value (hardcoded)
    Thanks.

  • Read-only radio group losing value on validation error

    It took quite a while to track this down, but I think I've got it narrowed down properly. I have an APEX form for updating a record in a databse table with a radio group which is conditionally read-only. If that radio group has a value AND is read-only, when the form is submitted and hits a validation error, the value of the radio group is lost.
    For example, the radio group SUBMITTED_FOR_APPROVAL is set to Y and is read-only for a given user. That user then changes something else on the form and submits it. However, the form now hits a validation error for some field. When the form reloads with the validation error displayed, all the fields are restored except the read-only radio group which is now blank. If a select list is used with the identical read-only condition, it works fine. Likewise, if a radio group is used, but the read-only condition is removed, it works fine. It is only when it is a radio group and it is read-only, that the value does not appear to be submitted to the session with all the form values whent he form is submitted.
    Is this a bug or am I simply missing something?

    The settings in the LOV section on the item iteself:
    Named LOV: LOV_YN
    Display Extra values: No Dynamic translation: Not translated
    Number of columns: 2 Display null: No
    Null display value is blank as is null return value
    Item was setup as a radio group and was only converted over to a select list to work around this issue. Let me know what else you need and thanks again.

  • Getting value of radio group in a report

    i have multiple radio gropus(one group for each row) in my report. Each row can be identified either by my rownm or id. I am looping through my report rows once the page is submitted to get the values of each radio group but I am not able to make it work...here is my code. Any suggestions?
    DECLARE
    v_res number;
    BEGIN
    FOR i IN (SELECT q_id FROM svy_q)
    LOOP
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
    'begin select APEX_APPLICATION.G_F ' ||i.q_id|| ' (1) into '||v_res||' from dual; end;';
    INSERT INTO SVY_R (R_ID,
    Q_ID,
    RESPONSE)
    VALUES (1,
    i.q_id,
    v_res);
    END LOOP;
    COMMIT;
    END;

    Sorry, got my solution. There were unintended spaces in my SQL.

  • Displaying a radio group in SQL QUERY report region

    Good morning everyone,
    I have a report in which a column - ORDER STATUS, will come in with a value of 1, 2 or 3...being order unfilled, order partially filled, or order filled, respectively.
    I would like to display the order status as a radio group on the report so that it will be easy to run down the column of radio buttons to see what is filled, etc.
    I've gone to the manual and checked the doco on HTMLDB_ITEM.RADIOGROUP. But the example given there is actually for CHECKBOX (is this an error?!?).
    I went to the forums and found nothing suitable.
    My region is an SQL QUERY. Can I display the STATUS as a radio group in the SELECT ?
    This is the question.
    Thankyou in anticipation. TC. 23/11/2004

    Tony,
    There may be better solutions, but here's what I was thinking:    create table orders (id number, status number, customer varchar(30))
        insert into orders (id,status,customer) values(1,1,'ACME')
        insert into orders (id,status,customer) values(2,2,'BENSON')
        insert into orders (id,status,customer) values(3,3,'CLARKE')
        commit
        Query Source
        select
          id "ORDER NUMBER",
          decode(status,
            1,htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(1,status,'1','unfilled')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(2,status,'2','partial','"disabled=true"')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(3,status,'3','filled','"disabled=true"'),
            2,htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(1,status,'1','unfilled','"disabled=true"')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(2,status,'2','partial')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(3,status,'3','filled','"disabled=true"'),
            3,htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(1,status,'1','unfilled','"disabled=true"')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(2,status,'2','partial','"disabled=true"')||htmldb_item.RADIOGROUP(3,status,'3','filled'))
          "STATUS",
          customer "Customer Name"
        from orders;Scott

  • Radio group read only problem

    Hi,
    I have three radio group items that are defined EXACTLY the same except for the label and associated database column. Each radio group item uses the same named LOV for "Yes" and "No". Each field contains either a "Y" or "N" value.
    When the "read-only" condition is satisfied, two of the three radio group items incorrectly do not have either the "Yes" or "No" radio button checked. When I change all three fields from "radio group" to "select list" then all three fields display either a "Yes" or "No" value correctly.
    Doesn't the radio group work when the read-only condition is satisfied? Is there a work-around to it?
    Thanks, Andy

    We are using APEX version 2.0.
    Has this been fixed in version 2.2?
