Identity Management requirement
sir,
we have a Identity management project implementation. i am gathering IDM docs regarding where to start, what is the pre requisites for implementing Idenetity management project. i am going to take this a challenge. please give your valuable suggestions (details)
regards
ramesh
Hi Ramesh,
installation and sizing is easy, practice for complex requirements will need some time...
Installation and Sizing:
Have a look at the PDF for the installation overview, provided with the install files. Usually, you only need a sizing between the explained S or M.
Practice:
The follwing site will help you: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-identitymanagement?rid=/webcontent/uuid/f0b68fb1-d8af-2a10-2a8e-cc431c15bb39&anchor=section2.
Go through the tutorials for the Identity Center and make your own scenarios. Especially the "Identity Management for SAP System Landscapes: Configuration Guide" is good to set up scenarios in the Identity Center with SAP Systems and Directories. There are also prerequisities and limitations in this document. "Identity Center - Identity Store Schema" gets into details about the data model. There are additional blogs, e.g. getting HCM data via SAP PI instead of VDS, if you intend to implement this.
Best regards,
Nils

Hi,
I'v updated EP patches upto 11. After updating the patches I'm not able to access "User Administration". When clicked on "user administration" tab following error message is displayed.
"A required service for the identity management user interface is not available. Contact your system administrator".
Further when i 'm trying to access UME Configuration following error message is displayed.

RahatAll,
I could resolve the issue by applying the note Note 869852 - Central Note For UME Web Dynpro UIs , the part at page 4/11 :
5)trouble shooting
The second symptom matches our problem and was resolved using the solution b.
Please note if you dont define an account for the Run_as identity it will pickup any user in the Administrator group
I restarted the J2ee after the change.

Hello friends,
I have a question about how to start the Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2 application that is deployed on Oracle WebLogic Server (OWS) 11g on 2 nodes (OIM_SERVER_01 and OIM_SERVER_02).
What is the procedure to start the Admin Server and then the nodes where the application is deployed Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2
I left wondering the commands:
1. xlStartServer.sh
2. xlStartWLS.sh
3. xlStartManagedServer.sh
4. startNodeManager.sh
Thanks for the support...First you need to start the AdminServer by the command xlStartWLS.sh then you can start the nodemanager on the hosts where your OIM server are located via the startNodeManager.sh command and then start the OIM Server via the xlStartManagerServer.sh command. Nodemanager is required to control the managed server if you plan to control them via the weblogic admin console. If you don't want to do that via console then xlStartManagerServer.sh and xlStopNManagedServer.sh would be able to control your oim servers. There is no specific order required for starting the oim servers, just that the admin server should be in running mode before you start the managed servers.

Edited by: mrmusso on Dec 23, 2009 2:38 AMWell what is the error which you get while doing Trusted Recon. If its some connection error then confirm that you have required connection jar files placed in the ThirdParty folder of OIM.
I am not very sure but I thing these would be the jar files required:
Oracle 8i - classes12.jar
Oracle 10g - ojdbc.jar
so make sure you have right jar files.
Thanks

Skin Customization in Oracle Identity Manager 11g Release 2 (11.1.2)
I was recently tasked with branding an OIM instance to match pretty stringent branding standards. To accomplish this task, I extended the fusion theme which is provided out of the box into a new custom skin. In the example below, I took the design as far as I could, which required decently advanced css knowledge; however, even a novice web designer could easily make simple updates to the backgrounds and fonts which would also greatly enhance the user experience.
Utilizing FireBug for Firefox, I inspected elements of the OIM interface to see which div's I needed to modify in the css file. You can edit as little or as many elements as you'd like in your custom skin; however, I'd recommend preserving the primary elements original placements to avoid confusion for users that are already used to an out of the box version of OIM.
This is the Oracle doc I used when creating the custom skin: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/dev.1112/e27150/uicust.htm#BABJIJIA
Notes regarding the Oracle tutorial mentioned above:
Be sure and remove the temp directory, shut down your OIM server, upload your files, then restart your OIM server with each css modification.
30.3.1 - Configuring Skins: 1. After you create the skin in the trinidad-skins.xml file, make a copy of the trinidad-skins.xml from the /iam-consoles-faces.war/WEB-INF/ directory to the
oracle.iam.console.identity.sysadmin.ear/WEB-INF/ directory AND the
oracle.iam.console.identity.self-service.ear/WEB-INF directory.
(The doc references admin.ear: the fully qualified name of the ear is: oracle.iam.console.identity.sysadmin.ear)
30.3.1 - Configuring Skins: Make all of your changes in the /oracle.iam.console.identity.sysadmin.ear/WEB-INF/trinidad-skins.xml file, /oracle.iam.console.identity.self-service.ear/WEB-INF/trinidad-skins.xml file, and the /iam-consoles-faces.war/WEB-INF/trinidad-skins.xml file.
(The doc doesn't mention making your css edits in the oracle.iam.console.identity.self-service.ear directory which is required)

Here is a link to my blog post with screenshots: http://www.idmworks.com/blog/entry/skin-customization-in-oracle-identity-manager-11g-release-2-11-1-2 -
In the Media pack Readme for parts required to be downloaded for different EPM products, Essbase has Oracle Identity Management 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) listed. Can someone please tell me if this is a must have. If not under what conditions does one need to have this?
Thanks,
Ted.It is not a must have, if you don't know what OIM is then you probably dont need it :)

Active Directory, GRC, and Identity Management
I had originally posted this in the Security forum, but was directed here:
A client I am working at would like to explore using Active Directory groups to assign SAP roles to users, both portal roles and ABAP roles. They are currently using Microsoft AD. However they have a requirement to use GRC Access Controls (v5.2) to assist with role maintenace and assignment for SOX compliance. I have been told that the Identity Management product can assist with integrating GRC and AD that will still allow for SOD checking/SOX compliance while role assignments can take place in AD.
Does anybody have experience with using Identity Management either with or without GRC? Does in work with Microsoft AD or is it is own AD product? What was your experience with it?
Are there any other products that can be recommended that will allow for integration between GRC Access Controls and Microsoft AD?
SteveHi Steve,
We integrated SiteMinder(eTrust) from CA with the Portal and it is pretty good and stable.
The one thing i like with SiteMinder is they are pretty stable and once it is configured the maintenance is very less and it is very stable also.
Also, they provide integrations with major webservers and application servers.

Oracle Identity Manager looking for OracleAS 10.1.3.x
Hi,
I need to install the following products on 2 servers
Oracle Identity Management Suite (OID, DAS, SSO) as a OracleAS Active-Active Cluster.
Oracle Identity Manager in Cluster
Oracle Access Manager in Cluster
Oracle Virtual Directory in Cluster
with F5 load balancers
A bit complex configuration, but think i can achieve it. I completed the first task successfully but now I am facing a problem when i wanted to install the Oracle Identity Manager 9.1 on the existing OracleAS cluster. OIM is looking for a 10.1.3.x version of OracleAS where as the Oracle Identity Management suite is shipped with OracleAS 10.1.0.2 version. we went ahead with the installation process as there was no reference of application server version in the Oracle Identity Management Certification matrix and the OracleAS 10.1.3.4 certification document below mentioned that IM 10.1.4.0.1 is shipped with 10.1.3.x version.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle_soa_certification_101310.html
Can anyone guided me how should i go ahead with this.
Thanks & Regards
Ramesh GKCheck this OIM on OAS issues
SOA suite is using jdk 1.5.x , Identity Management Suite is using jdk 1.4.x. My advice is to use OC4J from SOA Suite. Open a SR to confirm this. Some OIM required patch for OC4J are only for 10.1.3.x and can't be applied to OC4J from Identity Management Suite, also you can't not use the same database for OIM and IDM repository if you are using multilanguage installation. -

Identity managent user interface is not available
when i try to acces user administration i get following error.
A required service for the identity management user interface is not available. Contact your system administrator.See OSS note 869852 - Central Note For UME Web Dynpro UIs (user Admin in Portal). Topic #5 Troubleshooting discusses some possible solutions. We have found that sometimes, a complete shutdown and restart of the server works. Also, our Basis guys stopped and then restarted application com.sap.security.core.admin in the visual administrator and then the User Admin functionality was available for awhile until the portal was stopped/started for backup. Our Basis group is going to look into this further and I will post any additional info that we find. Would appreciate it if you would do the same.

Set Page Title of Identity manager susten
Hi Folks,
I want to change pagetitle("Identity manager") to my application name.
I get setStyleSheetsAndTitle.jsp in which we have option to edit page title.
<title><%=p.getPageTitle()%></title>
IDM document says that it Generates navigation according to the "wavesetnav.properties" file.
I could not able find "wavesetnav.properties". file anywhere.
In case i put hardcoded title than that would reflect to all pages but not works as required.
i.e clicking on Tasks tab it should show "Identity Manager - Tasks - Find Tasks".
Could any body help me out?*1.* In the System Configuration object, you must change ui.web.browserTitleProdNameOverride to true.

Error " this version of Identity center requires database update"
Hi,
we have coompleted installation of runtime components, IM DB, NW 7.3 (UI), - On linux
On windows server 2003 we are configuring Identity mangement MMC, Configuration steps of connecting to Database went okay, but at the end we got an error
"The version of identity center requires that Database update 1035 is installed.
The latest version update that is insatlled is number 1025
Make sure all applicable database updates are installed."
I am not sure which Database to update, is Identity Management Database? if it is IDM DBwhere to find the updates for it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Venkat.Hi,
it seems, you have installed a different SP-Level on your Database and your designtime. Have you compared the SP-Level and patch level of you installation sources?
Please have a look at the download section for the latest support package. May be you have to upgrade your IDM installation.
Kind regards,
Achim
