IDES Upgrade

Hi,
We have IDES on EhP3.
Note 799639 says that applying enhancement packs to an IDES system is possible.
However, we've faced several issues when upgrading IDES in the past.
Is it really possible to upgrade EhP3 IDES to EhP5 IDES ?
or will we have to install a fresh EhP5 IDES system ?

I think you guys have not read full information. complete extract is:
Enhancement Packages
From the technical point of view Enhancement Packages can be implemented into IDES systems.
BUT: This is only true if the customer is licensed for all AddOns /
components that are implemented in the IDES ERP System.
Because of this "limitation" we recommend to wait for coming IDES versions/releases that already include the EhP's.
(Please note that the current version of IDES ECC 6.0 already includes
EhP4.)

I have windows 32 bit system there I would like to perform an upgrade simulation from 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
Can I perform IDES R3 4.7 to ECC Non-Ides upgrade or I have to Upgrade to IDES ecc 6.0?
In case of IDES ECC 6.0 I can not see any Upgrade Export CDs whereas for the Non-Ides version I can see the upgrade export.
Please give your valuable comment , I am a little bit confused.

Hi,
You cannot upgrade your IDES version. You have to install new IDES system as ECC 6.0.

Find below the extract from this note:
If required, you can carry out a standard upgrade of your IDES installation to a higher release level. However, this is not an IDES upgrade but 'merely' a repository upgrade (ABAP, Dictionary, GUI...). The sample data of IDES client 800 remains unchanged. We cannot guarantee that your IDES scenarios work after the upgrade to the new release level. Therefore, we recommend that you order the required release as a new installation.

Upgrade IDES SAP ERP Central Component 5.0

The IDES upgrade is not recommended and not supported by SAP. Reason being, IDES content contains many objects in the customer namespaces and the upgrade would certainly run into issues due to these. SAP Support also cannot be sought for, as the upgrade itself is not recommended. We have performed IDES upgrades, but encountered many issues during the procedure.

This states that standard SAP content delivery routes (SPs, EhPs, Upg exports) will not contain any IDES content, which is logical. The IDES content is not required by all customers needing SPs, EhPs or upgrades.

CPU Upgrade on Satellite L30?

Tried searching but didn't get an answer.
Bought a laptop from ebuyer the other week, and so far so good, but good do with a bit more juice.
Currently running a CoreDuo 1.73 processor, wondering if Core2 or something a bit better will suit.
Heard something about a bit of softawre i'd need?

believe me, it would be better to buy a another L30 with a better cpu or another toshiba notebook with a better cpu than trying to upgrade your machine.
Some arguments whys not good to do it:
1. Its too complicated for if youre not at least a technician which is familiar with MOBILE COMPUTER SYSTEMs because a notebook is not the same electronic like a desktop.
2. How do you know which component fits? You have to find out the RIGHT partnumber of the manufacturer, otherwise you will have the wrong part and every manufacturer has its own hardware design and its own way to put components together. (like cpu, ram, bla...its not like you mean everything common like a desktop computer)
3. too expensive vs. performance gain = you would not really achieve a huge performance gain. Not the one you expect. I am telling so many users my experiences with trials of upgrading core components. I am a technician but even for me it does not make sense anymore to upgrade a cpu in a notebook. I tried it with 4 (!) machines, and two of them have now defective mainboards. And dont forget what I told you: I am working as a computer technician and I repair almost all brands which arrive our service center.
So, please forget your idea, upgrade your RAM and your harddisk and otherwise buy a new machine if youre unsatisfied with the actual performance of your rig.

Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

All,
Since Oct 22, when the Window 7 upgrades began shipping, we've received a lot of feedback and provided a number of updates to our customers.   Upgrades for Think Products have been shipping since the 22nd, but there is a backlog we are working through. Windows 7 upgrades for Idea products were delayed with the expected shipments to begin after November 16th.
UPDATE 11/23/09 - there have been some further schedule slips for Idea shipments, and unfortunately these did not begin on November 16th as previously planned. Present outlook is for Idea shipments to begin today the 23rd and ramp during the latter part of the week with expectation that approximately 40% WW would be shipping by November 30th. Apologies for these further delays.
UPDATE 12/2/09 - Upgrades for Idea have begun shipping the last week of November. In my last update, we anticipated that perhaps 40% would be shipped by the 30th. 35% of the orders for Idea are now moving through the payment / readying for shipment phase while about 4% have shipped so far on a WW basis.   This most recent delay has been caused in part by a percentage of orders that were input with an incorrect / invalid / incorrectly formatted serial number.   We will contact those affected by this issue via email shortly, and will provide instructions on actions needed to allow shipment to proceed.
Upgrades for Think customers continue in volume and we have now shipped approximately 70% of Think orders received.
UPDATE 1/12/10 New orders continue to come in, so the top level results reflect some fluctuation in percentage complete rather than a linear prgression to 100%.    I expect that this will change once we move past the last date for elligibility, and ultimately the order window closes - this is still weeks away.

90% of Think Win 7 upgrades have shipped to customers in the Americas and Asia Pacific countries, while the greater number of supported languages in Europe has added some additional complexity. 75% of Win 7 upgrades for European customers have shipped.
IDEA
73% of Idea Win 7 upgrades have now shipped in the Americas and 92% in AP, while about 45% of the Idea Win 7 orders have shipped to European customers.
The prior discussion on Upgrade shipments has been valuable and we are keeping in for reference as a read only discussion because at 440 posts, it had become too long for members to practically read and understand.

Resources are prioritized to address inquiries sent through the "contact us" button on the www.lenovo.com/windows7 update site (page 3 / 4 ) of the process.   The Mentor Media team is presently running about 5 days behind in responding to inquires through contact us (last week the backlog was more than a week) so progress is being made but still delayed.   Submissions other than through the contact us may have even longer response times.
UPDATE 11/23 - Progress to clear the inquiry backlog continues and is now down to about 3 business days.

As noted in the last several posts, emails are being sent to advise customers. I've previously noted that Idea upgrade kits won't begin shipping until after Nov 16th, and the emails were intended to advise our customers who may not be involved / following the discussion here.   We also sent emails to advise Think customers - we still expect to have most of the Think backlog cleared up by the 16th.
Some members have commented that they didn't receive emails. We have requested Mentor to do a comparison of the email distribution lists against the master file and identify any missed addresses and we will be following up in the next several days.

I've been reading shipment updates about everyday now. I've been watching many people make posts expressing their discontent over what has happened. I've been patiently waiting and not adding to the chaos, but it just makes me feel like if I don't express my concern, my shipment is delayed or held off in order for Lenovo/mentormedia to deal with the discontent customers first. I see posts that say they contacted the manufacturer and then get replies that it will ship soon or something... Now I don't find that fair, but whatever.
I just have a question now.
I ordered my windows 7 upgrade media on Sept. 28
and finally got this:

Now... does ready to ship mean it's shipped or it's literally ready to ship and they are holding it off for whatever reason?

Order of steps in CRM Mobile Sales 7.0 SP4 Upgrade

Since I read the upgrade guide I am not really sure anymore about the right order of step when performing the upgrade (form 4.0 SP6 to 7.0 SP4):
(OS and Office version are up to the prerequesites)
0. Back up all ARS databases (dev, test, production)
1. Run Baseline Comparison tool: Is that recommended to do?
2. Upgrade SQL Server form 2000 to 2005 SP1 or SP2 with attach, detach and run the SQL script provided by SAP
2a. Install .net 2.0, Java VM 1.5.0_16 and Java Dev Kit (MAR and WB are on the same machine)
2b. Install Visual Studio (VBasic) 2005 SP00
3. Run Code Migration (only on DEV, it will create a change list which can be transported to the other systems, correct?)
4. Run MAR Upgrade tool
5. Upgrade MRS tools and services
The points I am really unsure is, when to upgrade SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 and when to install Visual Studio.
Could someone please feedback if all the steps are in the right order?

Hi everybody confronted with 4.0 to 7.0 SP4 upgrade of MSA,
I have done sich upgrade and here is the list of steps and the order of them:
Pre-upgrade: (check the current system works fine):
1. Confirm the SAP services (MAR Central, TA) are working fine
2. Confirm the Transport Process among DEV, QA and PRD is also working fine
3. Full generation of all apps
Pre-upgrade:
4. Baseline comparison in order to ensure all repos are in synch
5. Backup ars_db and ides
Upgrade steps:
6. Check software versions
7. Install Visual Studio 2005 SP00
8. Stop TA but not MAR Central Service
9. Install and run CMT (it will display thousands of collisions, we had 11270 but most of them were solved by the system, finally we had 67 collisisons to resolve manually)
10. Start TA and release CMT changelist and transport to CRM Server
11. Backup ars_db
12. CMT deinstallation
13. SQL Server upgrade from 2000 to 2005
14. Stop and uninstall TA. If TA is not being uninstalled there will be problems to uninstall but it can still be done via DOS command
15. Upgrade the MAR
16: Unistall the MAR upgrade tool
17. Install Java VM and SDK
18. Upgrade MDW (run on upgrade CD)
19. Resolve collisions (document the work!)
20. After CRM Online was upgraded do a BDoc synch (until this step, MAR, MDW upgrade run independently)
21. Generate Metadata and table scripts on Ides in ClientConsole
22. Do a full non incremental generation
23. Run the application (MSA, MSC, etc.)
Possible issues:
1. I had many errors during compilation (not generation, that worked fine). Some of the errors were resolved by ensuring that all objects were generated. This did not happen at the first generation. Other errors came from collision resolution. This is a bit more tricky but keep in mind NO MAJOR CODE CHANGE was required to resolve them. Probably date conversion issues will pop up which can be resolved by "fromadate" / "toadate"...
2. I had issues with the backed up Ides. Finally I had to restore an empty 7.0 standard SAP Ides and ran the Metadata and table scripts on this Ides. Then I connected and did an extract. This worked fine.
This is it in a nutshell. I hope it will help anybody with an upgrade!

Currently we have "SAP ERP Central Component 5.0 ides" system with us. Can we upgrade it to ECC 6.0 EHP4 ?
Main concern is can ides system be upgraded to higher versions?
I can see latest avaialable ides version is ECC 6.0 EHP4 ides but there are no upgrade DVDs available at service market place.

Cannot find "JPD Document Upgrader options"

When I upgraded application from weblogic8.1 to weblogic10.2,the application exist jpd ,dft and xq files. I want to upgrade them with tools, but I cannot find the “JPD Document Upgrader options” item. Does any one know why "JPD Document Upgrader options” do not appear in the upgrade wizard?

I upgraded to Yosemite and it disorganized my photos is iPhoto.

I have a macbook with OS x Yosemite installed and 4 GB of memory.
After I installed Yosemite I found my iPhoto program was disorganized.
How can I fix it?

No idea - upgrading to Yosemite makes no changes to iPhoto of any sort
Upgrading to iPhoto 9.6 (required for Yosemite) make no changes to iPhoto organizing
For help you need to tell us exactly what you did and what you have - and exactly what you mean by "disorganized".

JPD Upgrade issue

We are upgrading from WLI 8.1 to Oracle WLI 10.3 - We are facing problem when we are trying to Upgrade 8.1 JPD's to 10.3 and getting the following error -
Failed to create upgrader instance for com.bea.wli.ide.upgrade.JPDDocumentUpgrade.
We have installed patches which should have resolved the above ..but we are seeing the above error again. Can give us some pointers on where we might be going wrong , whether it is Patch activation issue or additional patches need to be applied ? The following are the patches we have applied -
T4EH.jar;EB3S.jar;7SSV.jar;PS4V.jar;2P2M.jar;4DRC.jar,RT9X.jar using smart update software.
Can you also share information whether we can achieve upgrade in alternative ways without using the JPDupgrader?

I searched for them in oracle site but could not find them.
answer : All those pathes to have to find from https://support.oracle.com/ .
can you clarify me few things ?
1) Do you have below mentioned jar files with you?, because these jar files are nothig but the patches itself.
2) Do you have Oracle License, because with that you will get Customer Support Identifier (or CSI) or Sun Contract Number. With this number/identifier you can contact oracle support for patches or other related things.
@sanjana : Did you have to apply the patch of all jar files (T4EH.jar;EB3S.jar;7SSV.jar;PS4V.jar;2P2M.jar;4DRC.jar,RT9X.jar)
answer : each jar file/ patch has specific purpose, you may or may not need it for your project. For Example : EB3S.jar is required to Convert your JPDs to JAVA files. without this patch you wont be able to convert your application JPDs.

LabVIEW IDE Overhaul

1. Allow for "Tabbed Browsing" of VI's to better manage windows.2. Allow for the BD to be open independent of the FP.3. Allow dockable palettes... dock to either the edge of the screen, or to the top bar (pictured below) of LabVIEW.4. As a bonus, consider being able to open PDF's, txt's, and html's in tabs also for Help and documentation.5. Finally, allow the project tree to be docked into the IDE. Please, add your own IDE upgrade ideas in this discussion - illustrations will be especially helpful here. If it's a major enough idea, create a new idea!

In response to altenbach: 1. The problem of "hiding the titles" for 60 tabs could break down fairly easily. Let's say, when you double click a VI in the docked project it automatically jumps to the tab of the BD of that VI. If there is not a tab, it creates a tab. Now, your "window manager" becomes very clean - a hierchal view of all VI's in the project. Now, you have a list of about 20 text items you can visually scan and choose, rather than a WIN+Tab that you have to scroll through. And when you CTRL+E, it brings up the FP in a SEPARATE window (Ok, completely ditch the "FP in a tab" idea.) Would you propose a more elegant method of scanning through 30 VI's? 2. This is important to remember: Like most integrated, tabbed IDE's, you can resize the relative size of each element. Have a vertical divider that makes the tabs larger and project smaller. Have options that remove the docked palettes from the top of the window. 3. Comparing two small VI's would be easier with the tabbed method! Consider the case structure, and CTRL+Scrolling through the cases. When I want to compare two very similar cases, I CTRL+scroll Up, Down, Up, Down, comparing differences. Take two VI's in adjacent tabs: you could click a tab, then Arrow Left, Right, Left, Right, comparing differences. The overlay method of comparing (think the animated sketch artist, flipping up and down the previous frame in his or her sketchbook) is easier than side-by-side comparisons (remember the "can you find the differences between these two pictures" in your kid's coloring books? Subtle differences are not as readily evident). 4. Copy and pasting between two VI's, I normally do by dragging. In this case, you're right, two side by side windows is better. I suppose we would more heavily rely on CTRL+C and CTRL+V. I would readily accept this standardized concession. 5. The "one size fits all" container could DEFINITELY not apply to a FP (!!!), but there's no reason why it could not suit a BD! By default, all FP's have both vertical and horizontal scrollbars turned on. The size of the container is boundless... but the size of the viewing window is limited to how large you physically make the Windows window... just like today! Just make your environment window as large as your largest VI, and then the smaller VI's will have white space around them (pretty much like my original screenshot... a small BD in a larger window). 6. Although MSWord ditched MDI, Excel didnt'! Why? The nature of the documents open is dramatically different. Are you likely to be jumping around from .doc to .doc? Eh, maybe. How about .xls to .xls? Much more likely. How about from .vi to .vi? WAY more likely!! 7. Font toolbar... money. Pre-Kudos. (Just make it dockable!) 8. MDI for a LV deity? Jail. MDI for mere mortals? Productivity. MDI for NI? Sales. (A little dramatic? Arguable.) To jlokanis: 1. Windows 7 has a MUCH improved taskbar. It provides basically exactly what you are talking about - a window manager with one icon on the taskbar. How do i get rid of this warning?

I get a 'Built Successfully with warnings' message when building a DC. The associated log file has this entry in the file:
Creating Ant build file..
No 'default' JDK_HOME_PATH defined, will use running VM. Please update your configuration.
There are no other 'warning' messages in the log file, so this must be the warning the original message was referring to.
This warning message is a pain, since I can't be sure if the warning is this particular warning, or something else. In other words, I have to scan the output file each time "to be sure".
I've tried defining an environment variable called JDK_HOME_PATH, and setting up a class variable (that was a guess), but neither worked.
How do I get rid of this warning?

I guess you get the message locally in your IDE and on the CBS?
In the IDE: upgrade to the latest IDE or edit the "vm.parameters" file in the installation folder and add a line:
-Ddefault=C:path_to_jdk
On CBS: Edit the service properties and add an entry "default=path_to_jdk_on_server" to the JDK_HOME_PATHS property.
