IE (6 and 8) and different page template Body problem

Hi - is that normal that IE don't recognize page template body? I have a structure like this:
page template body 1:
column 1 | column 2
page template body 2:
column 1
everything work fine in firefox and chrome (I'll check also safari and opera) but not in IE.
In IE (6 or 8) I have page template body 2 on the right of page template body 1 (not bottom the region).
Anyone know how to fix this? of course in the easiest way :)

I have had this issue often, and I finally figured out a workaround:
You have to place a hidden REGION right where the breaking/newline (or whatever is happening with the in the template) isn't occuring properly.
This will force a break.
So I created a new region:
Type: HTMLText
Template: Button Region without Title
Region Source:
<br>
& nbsp ;(or something similar)
Condition (optional): Client Browser is Internet Explorer

and Search Student
I booked ST to the same SM
some ST show in Appraisals tab and can assign grade
and some ST don't show in this tab only show in Different appraisals template tab
can't assign grade to ST.
At the SM assign appraisals template =0001
How difference appraisals tab and different appraisal template tab. If the data incorrect please suggestion

Hi Kanya,
The reason which some students are displayed in different appraisal template tab and some of them are displayed in appraisals tab is the modification of appraisal template. I mean, you have changed something in appraisal template "001" for example you added a new appraisal type to the appraisal template or dropped an appraisal type from that. The students booked the module with an older template, you see the students on different appraisal template tab, and the others booked with the actual appraisal template, you see them in appraisal tab.
When you click two times on the appraisal type in the different appraisal template, below there is opened the appraisal types and you can give grade for each appraisal type.

Customizing Page Template Body

Hi Apex gurus,
I have a page inside which I display 3 different reports.
The three reports have a Display Point set to "Page Template Body (2)".
Report1 has sequence 10 and is placed in Column 1 of Page Template Body (2).
Report2 has sequence 20 and is placed in Column 2 of Page Template Body (2).
Report3 has sequence 30 and is placed in Column 3 of Page Template Body (2).
All three reports are using a report template such that they are displayed as a Name-Value pair and not as a table with columns as headings.
The layout is something like this:
Report 1 Report 2 Report 3
============ ============ ============
Name - Value Name - Value Name - Value
Name - Value Name - Value Name - Value
Name - Value Name - Value Name - Value
The problem I am facing is that the Values in Report 1 are quite large text values, and hence report 1 uses most of the space in the layout. Report 2 and Report 3 utilize the remaining space. I want all three reports to share the page proportionately.
Is there any place in Apex where I can set the size of Page Template columns?

Page Template Body 1,2,3 position to the left of the page

Hi,
How can make a page template as default.
The situation is i have a theme which has a default page template set so that the "Page Template Body 2' comes to the the center(let me this be theme - theme 1). But there is another theme which gives me the option to
set the 'page template body 2' to the left of the page(theme 2). I thought of switching the theme but my other setting for report will go for toss. So i have copied default template for page from theme 2 to theme 1, but i
cant make the page template as default. How can make the page template to default ?
Is there any other way of doing this so the 'Page Template Body 2' appears to the left.

In Application Builder:
- Edit the Application
- Click on Shared Components
- Click on Themes
> The current theme will have an 'asterisk (*)' by the theme name
- DO NOT CLICK ON THE THEME
- On the far right column will be a panel called Tasks
- Click Edit Theme
- Click on your current theme
You'll see a drop down list that allows you to pick the default page template.

Change the Page Template Body to use 8 columns instead of 12

Apex Version: 4.2.0.00.27
Theme: 25
I have a page that I need to divide by 8 segments, rather than 12 ( I will need to place items and buttons in one of the 8 columns).
To begin, I have made a copy of the One Level Tabs - No Sidebar page template. I have tried to edit this template, and played with multiple combinations changing the Grid Layout and Display Points settings, but instead of creating a page that has 8 columns, that span the width of the page, I am just left with blank space.

Is it possible to change the body section of the page template to have 8 columns span the entire width, without the dead space?

The CSS definition that comes with Theme 25 is based on 12 columns. The definition actually contains multiple fixed grid definitions for different screen sizes. For each definition, the column widths are defined (hard coded) based on the 12 column grid.
Important: the grid attributes in the page template do not define the grid, the CSS does. The attributes/definition in the page template is necessary for APEX to dynamically use the grid definition. The CSS is leading!
If you want to use an 8 column grid, you will have to re-write the CSS grid definition and alter the grid definition in the page template accordingly. So it is possible, but, depending on your level of understanding CSS and @Media queries, maybe not that trivial.

Templates and different page heights

I am finishing up a site. This is my first attempt at moving from print to web design so I'll do my best with terminology. I have used a template I created to make all the pages for the site. All of the pages have the same height except for 1 page which has a much greater height. If I increase the value of the editable region it does not work because the container is still set to the original template size. If I change the container height on that specific one page it works but it changes it on all my other pages too. I do I achieve this?

As John said, we can't begin to guess what you have going on. You'll need to upload your page to a test folder on your remote server and post a URL for us to see.
In a nutshell, height property is a restriction in all browsers except IE. Height values should not be used in content areas that may fluctuate across site pages.
If needed to reveal a backround image, for example, use the min-height property instead of height.

Difference between Next Set and Next Page

Hi,
does anyone know what is the difference between Next Set Template and Next Page Template in a Report Template?

When you have a report with say 15 pages you can split it into a set like:
page 1 -5 , 6 - 10, 11 -15
When you select the next set HTML DB wil go from
1,2,3,4,5 [next set] to 6,7,8,9,10 [next set]
When you go to the next page is just shows the next page. You can go from page 5 to 6 with the next page and still end up on the next set :-).

How to set a page template for news detailed view?

Is there a way to set a page template for the detailed view of the news module?
I have a page template setup and added the {module_announcement,,,,,} to the page. When the news item is clicked it always opens the default template - is this how it is designed to work or is there a way I can specify it to use a different page template?

If I got a rendered portal page and I want to change just the template saving the content, how can I do it???
My question come from the necessary of creating a print template;
from portal rendered page with all my portlets, I need to display just the content and non the applications, so my idea is to change the template of the page and in the new one create only a region for the content and his items too.
Anyone has got a better idea????

do you know any internal differences between Web Dynpro Proxy Page and Default Page Template? Because I am using EP 7.0 and it is possible to add web dynpros also to the page created with Default Page Template and they seem to work fine.. The only differences I can see is the slightly different background color of embedded web dynpros and the fact that with Web Dynpro Proxy Page it is not possible for me to set the iView height type to FULL_PAGE (well, it is possible but it does not work)

Is I understand there are not really good way.
In your page attributes turn option: Include Standard CSS and JavaScript to "No".
Then create custom page template and in page template header load what you need e.g. from standard Apex js and css files.
I think this could be one improvement are for next Apex releases

The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the unwanted template with a blank. It was previously possible to go to MY TEMPLATES and remove the unwanted templates. I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues). And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I'd prefer an email reply if that's possible. But that would probably be too easy, and I don't know how to get a reply.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

Graphics and Images in Pages Templates

Does anyone know if and where to find the graphics and images used in the Pages templates? I have noticed several "backgrounds" and other .jpgs that I would like to use when creating a new document but instead of copying and pasting all the time it would be nice to just know where the files are located on the computer. Can anyone inform me if i'm just missing them completely or if this is an impossible task?

It is different for different versions of Pages. Which version do you have?

How to visualize relationship between templates and instanciated pages?

I built about one year ago a complex site using DW CS3 templates and nested templates (currently using CS4).
I would now like to modify this site, but cannot remember the nested structure I defined between my various levels of nested templates, nor what instantiates pages derive from what nested template.
This is probably obvious, but I cannot seem to find a way to visualize the relationship between the nested templates:
- what templates is the parent of what nested template?
- what page derives from what nested template?
I have already spent two hours reading various help pages... nothing... How can this be done?

The easiest way that I know of is this:
Go to a page that is based on a template
In Code View, select the beginning of the Template call code at the top of the Head, e.g. <!-- InstanceBegin template="/ (use only this fragment to get a list of the entire site pages that are based on templates)
Search (Ctrl-F) Entire Current Local Site, Source Code, Find All
The Results Panel will then display all pages that carries that code
To save this list as a file, click the disk icon that appears two down from the flippy triangle on the left side of the Results Panel
This will give you a list of all pages based on Templates, and will also indicate...in the "Matched Text" column of the Results, the Template that is in use for each page.
You will notice that the files are listed out in alpha order, root folder top level first, then successive folders, including the Templates folder. Listings of the Templates folder show the Nested Templates and, to the right, the Templates they are based on.
This is not a one-button solution, but should serve.
A suggestion for your future Templates and Nested Templates is to be very explicit when you name them, for instance, "masterTemplate", "indexTemplate.dwt", "innerTemplate.dwt", "galleryTemplate.dwt", as suits your site.
When I prepared a site for use with Contribute, every page was slightly different, and I controlled variations by making different Nested Templates. I ended up with practically one Template per html page, but it was easier to control the client's Contribut-ions that way.

Page templates and shortcuts

Hi all,
I was trying to use a shortcut in the body of my page template. The shortcut runs a pl/sql function that return different html depending on various factors. However when I run the page all I get out is the name of the shortcut.
I have it in the template as "SHORTCUTNAME" which has worked ok in the past in region templates. Is there something about page templates that disallows this functionality?
