IE Metro : Image used when swipe back gesture done

We are working to get our web application to work in IE metro (windows 8.1) as a kiosk but we are having a few issues:
1. When the user swipes to go back they see (as they swipe) an image of the previous page. Is there any way to switch this off / control what image is used?
2. As a temporary measure we blank the page before submitting - this was working when I was using a server name in the url but the behaviour totally changed when using an IP in the url - when using an IP in the url the browser appears to capture an image
when the page javascript is fired (could be on href click) not just at submit time.
The issue is primarily to do with a user logging out of the system but a new user being able to slowly drag from the left and see the previously submitted page. I understand that tabs should be closed etc but in this case we cannot guarantee this would happen.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi,
the typical way to prevent a user navigating back to a login page is to use a Session variable in your server side code that tracks the session status.... in asp.net you enable and use forms validation.
When the current visitor/user logs out of your application you redirect the response to a landing page or the login page.
1. That is the Travel Log and the actual web page that was viewed previously... equivalent to Back button on a desktop browser. IE running in kiosk mode (iexplore.exe -k "{url}" is frameless and addon-less.... there are no browser Back or forward
buttons... you need to disable gestures on your web site. (see
MSDN - user interaction (HTML) in Windows 8 ) that should prevent back and forward navigation by touch/gesture on a kiosk.
2. 'blanking the page'? can you share some code/markup?
Regards.

  • My "older" songs stutter when played back

my pc is only 6 months old, but the first songs i downloaded from the itunes store
"stutter" when played back. they don't stutter on my ipod, and the more recenlty
downloaded songs are also ok. i have deleted them, reloaded from the ipod, updated
itunes, all to no avail. any ideas?

First a correction. I am using the latest version of FCP – 5.
Regarding the encoding, I have tried going from native HDV MPEG-2 to H.264 at 720P from 10 to 4 MB at 24, 30 and 29.97. The Mac seems to play everything back very well, but most PCs (the latest IBM T 40 – 43 series laptops) a couple of Dell desk tops (2.6 GHZ with 64 and 128 MB graphic cards) and a 3.2 GHz Shuttle PC with a 128 MB graphic card (that we routinely use to decode four MPEG-4, 4CIF images simultaneously and display on a 42” ED Plasma) choke/stutter to varying degrees with processor utilization hitting 100%.
So, the real issue here is what is the difference between a 720p trailer that I can download from Apple and what I can output using Compressor 2 at a similar data rate – other than the frame rate?
And why does the Compressor output stutter on most PCs?

  • Secure banking session pages cached and available to 'swipe back' to

I completed and logged out of an Internat Banking session this morning, then navigated to some other sites. I was using the 'swipe back' feature in Lion Safari, and wondered, "how far back can I go"?
Sure enough - I swiped back through the entire Secure Internet banking session! I could see all details from the session but couldn't do anything that required a new action. Really bad!

Why not engage 'Private Browsing' before logging on to sensitive sites?  You can cancel it when you are finished.

Not in the Safari browser she can't. That is not supported on the iPad. There are other mobile browsers that do have that functionality - one is iCab Mobile.

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks and when i use the gestures on my magic track pad it responds oddly.  Sometimes it won't recognize when my simple gesture of scrolling through a document.

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

  • How come I can't use the back gesture in certain apps with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion OS?

How come I can't use the back gesture with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion? I figured out that in Safari i have to use a 1 finger swipe to go back a page instead of 2 fingers like i used to do in Snow Leopard. But apps like iTunes and iPhoto and i can't do that. Any ideas? is there a setting im missing to make this work? It works in Safari but not any other applications, so im assuming theres no setting for this. Just want to know if this is just a bug that will be fixed in the next update or if its something I can fix now. Any help would be appreciated because its kind of annoying. Other than this minor issue I love Lion. Full screen apps are unbelievable.

  • Why, since CS6 does DW now use ABSOLUTE image paths when dragging images into Design View from a folder in Finder?!

While I am grateful the previous issue I had with not being able to drag files into design view at all (in CC and CC2014) was resolved.
Guys (Adobe), seriously, if you're going to change the functioning of something that used to work just fine, at least supply a way for a user to revert to the old way... I absolutely loathe that I need a legacy version of DW to continue with my current workflow. Please put it back to the way it was, or at least allow a user to chose between the two behaviours.
If there is a way to do this, without using the Site Manager (which still doesn't work from Finder even with relative to document selected), I would appreciate any guidance.
As for using the Site Manager (before some smart guy suggests that I just use that) I do not wish to navigate to and create up to 20 "sites" a week and wait for DW to cache them all, when I am already in the folder with the image assets in Finder.
Also before someone pipes up and says: "You shouldn't be diving sites in design view anyway", I don't... I develop many, many newsletters every week and the folder structure is such that navigation to the actual image folder using the Site Manager would be painful at best.
I don't really like having to and replace all instances of "file:///Users/me/Work/company/Mailers/Year/wk14/mailer/dev/img/prod5.jpg". It is horrendously wasteful, time-wise.
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies

Sorry Murray, DW used to have an idea, my point is that since CS6 its developed a case of Amnesia.
The "elements" are in the "root" folder as follows:
    newslettername.htm
    img
         imagename.jpg
So the relative path would be <img src"img/imagename.jpg" />
    However since the change: <img src"file:///Users/me/work/Company/year/week/campaign/img/imagename.jpg" />
Which is completely useless and needs to be corrected before I upload the html anywhere.
As for using the site directory, I did answer that in my initial post. I use a laptop, I really don't want a site manager taking half my screen just so I can see the folder structure and navigate with that, especially since I am already at the files I need in Finder.
Again, this is something that used to work just fine in previous iterations of DW, so I don't believe Adobe is incapable of fixing it nor am I being unreasonable asking for a choice for those that may find the local absolute paths useful in some way. All I want is to be able to chose not to use absolute paths when dragging from Finder.

  • Gesture Fifefox on Mac: Swipe back tiggers 'Edit-- Find' instead of 'Back'. WHY?

'''Duplicate post. Continue [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/746250 here] -MJB'''
The following problem applies to 3.6 and 4.0 beta 1/2
Whenever I use the swipe gesture to the left for browsing back like in Chrome or Safari implements it, Firefox does not browse back instead opens the search/find dialog.
The about:config shows which should be fine:
    browser.gesture.swipe.left; Browser:BackOrBackDuplicate
The swipe to the right for 'Forward' however works. How can I fix this?

    Hi Dutchie,
Noticed you were from Oxfordshire and thought you might be able to help with my request below...
I purchased a 3g iPhone 16gb 12 days ago and signed up for the 18 month tariff. I just found out I will be moving to Ireland in a few weeks and it isn't possible to transfer my UK contract to IE. Anyway, I am still within the 14 day window to return the phone, but my son accidentally threw out the original box, which I need to return it back to O2.
By any chance do you know anyone around Oxford that would be willing to sell me their empty 3G iPhone box. Would be willing to pay £10 for the trouble.

  • Does HD Image Quality Decline When Printing Back to Tape?

    HD Final Cut Express
Does HD footage quality decline when sent back to tape, i.e. does it get compressed?
Currently, it appears that HD footage burned using iDVD does deminish the image quality.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
There is a difference between HDV footage and HDV footage converted to standard definition (SD) for burning a DVD (not an HD nor blue-ray DVD).
When you print to tape a HDV content from FCE HD to your HD camcorder, there isn't degradation (altough your media was converted to Apple Intermediate Codec for wotking in FCE HD and re-encoding to be printed on tape. Re-encoding always means degradation, but you cannot see it with naked eyes.)
When you burn a DVD in iDVD (version 6, current), all your footage is converted to MPEG material in Standard definition (720X480 pixels). since iDVD doesn't support high definition DVD.
In a near future, iDVD (iLife 7 or 8 or...?)(or another application like Roxio TOAST) could support HI-DEF DVD (if you own a HI-DEF DVD burner, to play in a HI-DEF DVD player hooked to a HDTV...).
At this time, your superb HDV content will be monitored in HI-DEF.
Now you can print to tape and monitor on HDTV from your camcorder to see it in full resolution (HD).

  • X6 Adjusting image size when using a picture as ph...

    Hi All,
I set a photo as my background on my X6, but the image re-sizes itself so its bigger in the home screen and not all of the image appears on the screen, alot is cut off.
I cant quite figure out how to adjust the image so that it stays the same size when its used as my back ground, or how to re-adjust the image back! Its annoying because it means my pictures are limited as to what can be on my background, im having to chose really far away shots becaus they appear close up when used as a background!
Help for the thicko much appreicated!!

Transfer picture to computer and assuming you have windows, right click on it and select edit, when the screen opens in 'paint' select the re-size option , top left hand corner second section from the left when edit menu opens click the pixel option and type in the ratio of your phone screen (360x640), then close and save as jpeg, should then do exactly what you want

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.
