IE render takes significantly longer than Firefox and chrome

Page load times are similar, but while firefox and chrome render "instantly", IE takes quite some time (seconds)
There are a large number of controls on the page but we have replaced them with text boxes and its still much slower than other browsers and debugging is not helping. We use update panels and dynamic user controls for rendering but need better page analysis
than the standard IE tools provide.
Its IE 10/11 and the original post was here:

Hi,
Thanks for posting in MSDN forum.
You can use UI responsiveness to help you analyze UI performance problems. Check this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/dn255009(v=vs.85)
You also can try to use profiler tool to to get detailed performance measurements of the JavaScript in your webpages.
Check this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/dn255005(v=vs.85)
What result do you get after you used above tools? Maybe you can find something helpful after you used the two tools to analyze your web page performance issue. It would be better if you could provider a sample to test.
You also can find some third-party tool to analyze web page performance issue on the Internet.

  • First select takes significantly longer than the succeeding select

    Hi guys,
    We have a program that takes signifacantly longer time than when re-running the program in succeeding ones.
    the same data are filled in the selection screen.
    we run the second run after some seconds then the runtime is very much slower than the first run.
    But after an hour or so, when we run the report again, it becomes slow again.
    Please advice.
    Thanks!

    It's the buffer. After thje first select there is already data in the buffer so it takes less time to access it
    There is nothing you can do to make the first select faster. You can bypass the buffer if you want the next access to be slower, but I wouldn´t recommend that

    Warp Stabilising is a two part process.
    Analysis and Stabilising.
    Both have a banner across the Program Monitor during the process ( unless you have turned that off.
    Analysis start automatically on forst application...but you can rock in there and start adjusting the parameters.
    You may need to hit "Analyse" Button again.
    You should see the number of frames and the estimated duration during this process.

  • Report Open take significantly longer in x64 OS vs. x86 OS

    When opening a reports using Crystal 2008 .NET on a Win2003 X64 server take significantly longer to run than they do using
    a Win2003R2sp2 x86 server.
    To Load a report then ExportToStream on 32 bit Operation system takes 20 seconds to do the same thing on a 64 bit operating system takes over 1 1/2 minutes.
    Is there some setting that I may be missing that would cause this to happen.  Has anyone else seen this type of problem

    Hi;
    What is the version of Crystal Reports you are using, is it the full CR 2008, or the version bundled with .NET?
    Have you installed the latest service packs for your version of Crystal Reports?
    How did you distribute the runtime for Crystal to the 64 bit os?

  • Why does LabVIEW take significantly longer to display a large amount of Chineese characters? (intentionally misspelled)

    EDIT: I am intentionally misspelling the word for "the language of China" otherwise the forum will censor me, seriously.
    We have a large application based on LabVIEW. In this application, we use flattened strings to pass data between VIs. I recently noticed that some VIs who show their Front Panels when called were taking significantly longer to draw their Front Panels on computers that are localized in Eastern languages (Chineese, Korean, etc.).
    I eventually traced it down to the fact that if you try to display a large amount of characters (anything over 2000 characters) in a string on a Front Panel where the text in LabVIEW is localized to English, the Front Panel is launched and drawn instantly. However, if the string becomes localized in an Eastern language, say Chineese, it can take significantly longer to draw the Front Panel (anywhere from 40 seconds to 2 minutes or more depending on the length of the string) and the CPU is being taxed.
    I've attached a simple VI (LabVIEW 2014) which demonstrates this behavior. It simply generates a random sequence of characters of a predefined length.
    In order to notice the problem, follow these steps:
    Make sure LabVIEW is closed first.
    In Windows, go to Control Panel > Region and Language.
    In the Formats tab, observe which language is currently selected. If it is not set to "English (United States)", then switch to that and click Apply.
    Launch LabVIEW and run the attached VI. You should notice that the string indicator updates almost instantly.
    Completely exit LabVIEW.
    Going back to the Region and Language panel in Windows, change the Format drop-down from "English (United States)" to "Chineese (Simplified, PRC).
    Launch LabVIEW and run the attached VI. You should notice a significant delay it takes for the string indicator to display the text.
    Anybody have any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks!

  • Fetching null records out of a function takes much longer than non-null

    Hi,
    We have a function that is called thousands of times on SQL. This function has a SELECT than can return one row at max.
    We realized that when the SQL statement doesn't return any record, it takes 3x times longer in the fetch phase.
    I made a simple test with three functions were each one was executed 1000 times. The first one has an extra outer join that guarantees that it always returns one record, a second one with an explicit cursor that can return 0 records and a third one with an implicit cursor that can also return 0 records.
    Here is the sample test code:
    DECLARE
    -- Local variables here
    CURSOR c IS
    SELECT teste_vasco.teste_vasco1(epis.id_episode) as val
    FROM episode epis
    WHERE rownum <= 1000;
    TYPE t_c IS TABLE OF c%ROWTYPE;
    l_c t_c;
    BEGIN
    -- Test statements here
    OPEN c;
    FETCH c BULK COLLECT
    INTO l_c;
    CLOSE c;
              for i in l_c.first..l_c.last
              loop
              dbms_output.put_line(i || ' :' || l_c(i).val);
              end loop;
    END;
    The difference between the tests is that instead of calling the vasco1 function, vasco2 and vasco3 is called.

    As you can see, in the first example the fetch time of the SELECT in the function vasco1 takes 0.02 seconds and 0.06 in the SELECT of the test script. This test returned 1000 non-null records.
    In the tests 2 and 3, the fetch phase of the SELECT in the test script takes much more time - 0.27 seconds, despite the fetch of the SELECT in the functions (vasco2 and vasco3) took 0.00 seconds (as it only returned 1 row for the 1000 executions) and the only difference between them is the function that is called. Both test2 and test3 returned 999 null records and 1 non-null record.
    How it's possible than a select null records takes much longer than selecting non-null records?
    Hope you can understand the problem and thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

    Thank you for the replies...
    But the thing is that the SELECT in the function is very fast and the fetch phase takes no time (0.00 second).
    And, as you can see in the execution plan, there's no need for a full index scan...only a range scan is performed:
    SELECT CS.DT_SET, CS.FLG_STAGE, CS.DT_WARN
    FROM
    CARE_STAGE CS WHERE CS.ID_EPISODE = :B1 AND CS.FLG_ACTIVE = 'Y'
    call count cpu elapsed disk query current rows
    Parse 1 0.00 0.00 0 0 0 0

    1 INDEX RANGE SCAN CS_EPIS_FACT_FST_I (cr=2000 pr=0 pw=0 time=7951 us)(object id 688168)
    But, the fetch phase of the SQL that calls the function that has this query takes 0,27 seconds.
    As far as the contex switch, we are aware of that, but we can have modularity with this solution and the first function also have many context switching and is must faster.

    Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. Either let it complete the download (easiest) or contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the Contact page  and ask them if they'll remove the item(s) from your queue for you.

    Agreed. I hope they allow this some time soon or iTunes Match will remain a big disappointment for me.

  • Why does it take so long for Firefox to load?

    Why does it take so long for Firefox to launch at initial start up? It usually takes 3 or 4 minutes. IE loads within a few seconds.

    Reset the homepage to something else, or do not use a home page at all.
    See [[How to set the home page]]

  • I have a basic applet method timing problem with Firefox (and Chrome), not IE nor Opera. Works if JavaScript issues windows.alert() prior, fails otherwise.

    I have an applet method, which is invoked from a JavaScript function, that is triggered by the window.onload event. The problem seems to center in the loading of the applet and its methods.
    If I step through the 3 applet acceptance prompts (I chose to use a down-level Java), the applet method is never invoked, nor is an exception raised. How this happens is beyond my understanding.
    As additional information, the Init(), start(), and "desired" Java methods all use the synchronized keyword. This is an attempt to minimize the exposure to a multi-thread environment.
    If I issue a message from JavaScript (via window.alert()) PRIOR to invoking the method, I can get the desired results in special circumstances:
    1) When the alert is presented, Firefox also prompts, SIMULTANEOUSLY, to block/continue the applet (the first of the 3 applet acceptance prompts). I can accept that these are separate threads.
    2a) If I walk through the 3 applet acceptance prompts FIRST, and then hit the OK button on the alert message SECOND, I get the desired results, my applet method executes, and all is well (other than the fact that I would prefer not to have the alert in place at all).
    2b) If I hit the OK button on the alert message FIRST, and then walk through the 3 applet acceptance prompts SECOND, I get the same results as when the page loads WITHOUT the alert, which is the applet method is never invoked, nor is an exception raised. Weird, huh?
    The above problem only occurs when the browser and the applet's URL are loaded for the first time.
    Subsequent invocations (after the page & applet has been loaded initially) do not have the failing symptoms.
    It is my understanding that IE and Firefox (and Chrome and Opera, for that matter) each use the same implementation of JavaScript provided by Microsoft. Please correct me if this information is inaccurate.
    The failing page and it's applet are proprietary; I cannot provide the Internet URL, nor the Java or JavaScript source, to aid in your analysis.

    I can speak to the source code, but have no access to it.
    The current process/thread that invokes an applet method must check to see that the applet is not currently being loaded by another process/thread. If it is being loaded, the current process/thread should block until the load is complete, THEN attempt to invoke the applet method.
    Please forward my concern to a knowledgable developer. The nature of the problem, once identified, can be addressed in a very straightforward manner.

    JavaScript doesn't work on any site at all? If particular sites are the issue, or you get specific error messages, please let us know.
    Usually the only two ways to disable JavaScript in Firefox are:
    (1) Options dialog > Content tab<br>
    (2) NoScript add-on (or other security-related add-ons)
    Normally Safe Mode bypasses issues caused by add-on problems or non-default settings, so it's worth considering external issues.
    Does JavaScript work normally in any other browsers you have installed?

  • Site can't be viewed with IE, works with Firefox and Chrome

    I have a family site that works fine with Firefox and Chrome, but with when we created a new page and uploaded it, it can't be viewed with IE.
    http://www.thetravelintexans.com/states.htm was modified to add the very last picture in the last row, it was uploaded and works fine.
    If you click on the last picture Andrew at Disney, it takes you to this page http://www.thetravelintexans.com/AndrewsDisney.htm .  This page acts like it is loading in IE, but quickly says Done at the bottom of the screen, but it is blank.  The source code can be viewed, but no detail of page at all.  Again, it works fine with Firefox and Chrome.
    I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
    Thanks for any hints.

    IE does get a bit anxious when it does not have DOCTYPE to work to. It tends to fall back into a quirks mode and behave irrationally. Makes me think of myself when I do not have goalposts to aim for.
    Solution, merely give your pages a valid DOCTYPE and all is well. For more info see here http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetravelintexans.com%2FAndre wDisney.htm
