IE vs Firefox huge load time difference

I have a client site I'm working with right now and when I
vew content with FireFox it takes about 10-12 seconds to load. When
viewing from IE it takes a consistant 20-24 seconds to load. IE
seems to always be 10-12 seconds slower. Does anybody have any idea
why this is happening? I'm using the standard twice cooked method
from the publish settings from Flash 8.
I'm also using IE 7.0
In the web page there are 3 flash movies. If I remove them
one at a time there is still a considerable lag. All flash movies
removed Firefox loads in about 2-3 seconds, IE in about 3-4
seconds. There seems to be some consistant lag no matter what is in
the page. I also tried turning off the phish filter, but didn't
really help.
Ideas?

There really is no answer other then firefox is faster then
IE in a lot of areas. There is nothing you can do about that except
promote the use of Firefox among your peers.

  • Page load time differences between IE and Firefox

    Hello all,
I have a problem with page loading time in IE 8. My page contains tabular form, classic report and some other items. I use some javascript code(placed in HTLM Header section) and also dynamic actions. When I try to display the page in IE I have to wait for 40 seconds (100 rows in tabular form). I realized that the performance is dependent on the number of displayed rows in the tabular form. But decrease the number of visible rows, using pagination, is not an option, because all needed rows should be visible for the users. During the tests I have tried to remove all the JS code and disable all the dynamic action, but the loading time was more or less the same.
When I try to run the same page in FireFox then it is displayed in 4 seconds!
I have already try to search some tips or advices how to speed up the page loading, but only what I have found out is, that every web browser is different. The javascript is handled differently, page rendering is done differently and so on.
Maybe there is something what I have missed, and you experts can help me. Is there anything general what I should check or change to speed up the loading time in IE?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Denes for your reply.
I use HttpWatch tool to measure the loading times. Reports are mostly the same for IE and FF. I can see from the report, there is three times shown error 404 Not Found for the items below.
    http://......./images/sRegion-Body.png
    http://......./images/sRegion-Bottom.png
    http://......./images/sReportBG-Standard.png
The last action which caused 404 error started 2 seconds after the page was asked to refresh. The next action http://......../i/libraries/jquery-ui/1.8.22/ui/i18n/oracle/jquery.ui.datepicker-cs.js started after 38 seconds (hanging in the same place for 36 seconds). Does it mean that the problem is caused by http://......./images/sReportBG-Standard.png action which returns 404 error?
How can I add the missing images?

  • Same query on different RAC instance huge execution time difference

we have 3 nodes oracle 10gR2 RAC based on ASM. The 3rd node is the latest one we added into the cluster. All instances on 3 nodes using the same system parameters and same OS and same hardware
i found a weird problem, a same query i executed on node1 is way more faster than on node3 (1.5mins VS. 18mins). Then i did trace, surprising found the fetch time for node3 is longer than node1. Both nodes are at very low load. here is part of tracing for both nodes:

To me, it looks like node3 is not accessing storage as fast as node 1 is. Look at this:
    db file sequential read 37363 0.12 57.35
    db file sequential read 37080 1.30 277.16
both cases have roughly the same amount of reads/waits but the time waited is 5 times more in the second case. So this could indicate a problem, maybe something with the HBA or SAN path or something like that.

  • Loading time differences between Flex1 Flex2 ?

    hi all,
we have upgraded our Portal system up to 7.01 SP5 . now all our Visual Composer Modells will be compiled with Flex2 and they are so painfull slow. first the initilizing phase took much more longer then Flex1 compiled modells. if this phase is finished, i see my layout but till i can use it, it tooks another 15-30 seconds.
we also use the "optimize for speed" option in VC but nothing happens. we also tried to enable and disable the Option "enable flex controls for portal theme".  same result painfull slow.
the same Modell is 10 times faster in Flex1 then the Flex2 compiled one.
is there any workaround to get it faster ?
    thx for your help
    Tony Wienhold
    UPDATE:
i made a small check on the iexplorer.exe in taskmanager when he is loading the modell.
the system makes crazy stuff with the iexplorer process. 50%CPU ussage, seems to me OK,  but it takes 50 sec for the whole loading. IE is frozen at this time and he blows up the MEM Usage for the process from 150000 MB  up to 1150000 MB .
what is he doing ? 1GB Mem usage more ? can someone confirm this behavior ?
after these 50 sec only the layout is fully loaded.  not till then i can start to enter some variables  or something like that.

I'm on a MAC Pro, 6 gigs of ram no issues with anything else. I have talked to Apple they have checked everything for me. They say it's Dreamweaver. I've noticed the Dreamweaver is talking to the FTP even when I'm not doing anything.
I've tried cleaning out my MAC caches, turning off file check and check out. Still really slow. I've worked with Dreamweaver for 6 years never any issues like this before. 18 seconds to upload a 4 kb file. 11 seconds to download the same file.

Thank you for the link, but I am not sure how this is going to help me: I am not booting straight to an X session, but prefer to log into TTY1 and have my login shell handle everything from there.
Here is the relevant part of my .zprofile:

    [[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec systemd --user

As far as I understand, your method works if I enable the [email protected] template when actually booting straight to X.

Sending a solution that I have already tried is of no help, but I tried them all again, reloading works sometimes, I have seen in the past that others have had this problem also, of pages not completely loading. So I don't see how you can say I am the only one. When I first started using Firefox it worked great but now it doesn't, one of the updates caused this problem. I guess it's back to IE as it works fine now.

  • Stunnigly slow load time. It isn't my system, because both Chrome and Safari load in less han ten seconds. Firefox is too bloated.

Folks, I don't use Firefox much anymore. Why? Because the load time has become ridiculous. Chrome and Safari both load in less than ten seconds. Firefox can take up to a minute. And usually does. It has become bloated. It has lost the intent. You say the fox is the fastest? It isn't. Either in load time or search time. Chrome smashes the fox. Simpler, cleaner, faster. Isn't that what Firefox was all about in the beginning? You folks need to take a giant back step.

Agreed...I'm considering jumping ship. Too many crashes, hangs constantly, too many secure sites the server can longer find even though they've been bookmarked for ages, takes forever to load and plug-in issues galore. It's sad, the last 6 months have been horrendous and nothing is getting fixed with all the constant updates. No one should have to clear cookies and cache as much as is always suggested here just to get pages to load that load on other browsers with no problem.

  • Firefox spry region load time

  • Why do firefox pages load faster if I switch to different application on the taskbar?

Using XP sp3, Firefox 27.0.1. Firefox spikes resources usage. I've tried resetting firefox. Granted, my pc is older, and only has 2.25 gig of ram, but until recently the loading time was acceptable. Now it's not. This seems to happen occasionally after firefox is updated.
Pages are loading much more slowly recently, maybe since security update on 2/14? The odd thing is, if, while the page is loading, I click on another non-firefox application, like the task manager, in the taskbar, the firefox page seems to load faster. Is this possible? The delay seems to be when the spinning circle (I don't know what it's called - favicon?) with the ball has turned green and is rotating to the right. I'm not talking just a few seconds of difference. It could be a minute's difference.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Ok, so I installed a program called Process Explorer, which is like Windows Task Manager, but with a bit more information. When Firefox is loading a new page, and is the current window, the page is slow to load and firefox takes between 65-80% of the cpu. If I click off firefox, it can take as much as 97% of the cpu, giving some up to AVG's avgrsx.exe, vprot.exe and sometimes plugin-container.exe, but loads the page faster.
    Your instructions:
"let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process. "
I'm not sure what you mean - should I see this happening (as in it asking permission from me to grant access)? Because I don't.
I've attached a screenshot of Process explorer top cpu processes while the page is loading.

  • Optimization on Load Time (Large Images and Sounds)

    Hi,
I have an all flash website that works by having each portion of it to load and unload in the center of a frame based off the navigation chosen.  Load times on everything but one part of my site are ok.
The dimensions of the part inside the frame are 968x674.  I know that's relatively large for a flash file, but that can't be changed at this point.
Within the page there are objects that come up when you find an item on the screen.  Its a dialog box and it shows text, an image, and has a voice over that reads what the text says.  After you're done looking at it, there is an x-button to dismiss the window.  There are 15 of these and they are exported to the actionscript.  I add them in the actionscript via addChild.  I figured this is a huge spot that could be reconfigured, but I'm not sure if it would make much a difference.
The other huge thing is there is a ton on the screen.  It starts you off in an environment, and when you click 3 different sections, it zooms into that portion allowing you to look for the items you're trying to find.
There is also a man that talks and animates in the beginning and at the end.  We are planning on taking out the end part and putting a text box up.
Here is the website..  its a propane safety site for kids.  I know its kind of a weird idea, but it works and people seem to like it.

    Hello,
I have a background image in a level in my swf wich have to be aligned to the background image in the xhtml page where the swf is loaded.
I noticed that in Firefox (Since few time not always) when the swf is loaded, it seem that the image move 1 pixel on the right and the alignement of the background image is ruined!
This thoesnt happen with other browsers like Explorer, Opera, Safari.
I post the difference beetween the firefox and other browsers:
I suppose is not a CSS matter but in the SWF player becouse since some time ago it worked good in Firefox too and i didnt modify anything in the code!

  • Archives, Page Load Time, Commenting and Trackback

I've been looking through the iWeb forums somewhat, as well as designing a little bit of a website in iWeb (link), and I've found some things to be excited about, and some things that are still unknown. (Here's my original .Mac site, which I will continue to maintain for now).
I really need commenting to work before I can switch to using iWeb as my blogging tool (right now I use Thingamablog, which works pretty well, but is 'unpolished'). I haven't taken too much time to experiment with hand-coding the template files (plus, I haven't found where they might be...), but it looks like the HTML output of iWeb is something I wouldn't want to deal with anyway.
Another feature of the blogging in iWeb that could use a complete overhaul is the archive. I don't think it's at all sensible to put every single entry (if only a title) on one web page; after a month (or a year, in my case), that page would be so long no one would ever think about scrolling through it to see an entry.
And, after reading a few other user's opinions of iWeb, I've found that, yes, it is stupid to have to hand-format every single blog entry (moving text, moving images around, etc.). Very un-intuitive for anyone who blogs more than once a week.
Finally, as other users have posted, the load time for pages is terrible. I thought that iWeb would do a great job at making things look nice using JPEGs and fairly small file sizes, however, I've found that, even if I pre-format a graphic for the right size in Photoshop, the file is converted to a PNG in iWeb, with a ridiculously large file size.
There are a few other problems with iWeb, such as it's inability to allow target="_blank" links for opening new windows, and some other fairly common features of even the simplest blog and website creation tools, and I only hope that these things will be fixed and improved dramatically, or I may never find a use for iWeb.
Now, you may say I am not the user iWeb was intended for... and you are partly right. However, I am looking for a simple tool for a quick picture page or a blog, with little or no hassle, that looks great and doesn't make a huge (in terms of file size) web page. I will have to stick to using Adobe GoLive and Thingamablog for the time being, even for small projects, until some of the above features are added.
P.S. I have also sent this post as feedback to Apple. I suggest you do the same.
[Edit: I've found this thread discussing where templates and such are, but that is no help, since the templates themselves are not very easy to understand...]

    Hi Anoop21,
    >>Could you please explain the difference between Page Load Time and Page Response Time ?
Based on your issue, I know that the Page Load time is used to count load a page main requests and all dependent requests (images, css, js...) time.
The Page Response Time is count the page main requests time without including the dependent requests time.
So the different is that if the page has the dependent requests.
    Hope it help you!
