IE7 issue in dynamic page

Hello, everyone. My first time posting in this forum.
I am a ColdFusion developer who has come across a rather odd issue, for me. I am working on an internal application and am building a customized CMS from scratch. One of the features the client wants is the ability to upload swf files (and associated xml files) for display. I'll get to making the upload forms and whatnot at a later time, I just wanted to see if the Flash would work properly, first. So I manually uploaded the swf and xml files to the root directory, placed the JavaScript, object and embed code into the TinyMCE editor, saved it, and it works great in IE and FF.
However, since they will want different Flash objects for different areas, I need to separate everything into their own folders. So, I created a folder called "flash" and moved the swf and xml files into it, edited the code to reflect the new folder, saved it and tested.
Works fine in FireFox; IE7, however, there is a problem. It sees and loads the swf file with no problem, but it does NOT see the xml file (which is in the same directory). The code is referencing "flash/training.swf" (as it should) and the swf is accessing the xml that should be in the same directory.
I did not make the swf or xml files (I am not a Flash developer), but wanted to see if anyone, here, has had the same issue before going to the Flash developer and asking.
Any ideas/suggestions?

The SWF file was developed to work in such a way as it would only look in the root directory for the XML file. Once the developer changed it so that it could access it from the same directory (regardless of what directory it was in), and then had to add 'id' and 'src' to the JavaScript function call, it worked like a charm.

Dynamic Page Performance Issues

Hello,
We have a number of pl/sql procedures that display information, and are currently implemented as portlets via separate dynamic pages. The dynamic page simply calls the PL/SQL procedure with the appropriate parameters, and overall it works well.
What I have been noticing though, is analyzing a page using the &_debug=1 parameter, shows an example portlet (dynamic page) being generated - Portlet Timing: 4969 msecs. When running the procedure on its own (/pls/portal/schema.pkg.proc) it runs in about 1.5 - 2.0 seconds.
Why does the dynamic page implementation add so much overhead? Is there something else that I can or should be tuning to help this? Any ideas?
Similar results have been proven on other procedures/dynamic pages, so it seems to be an issue across the board.

Dynamic Page Porltets are expensive because they contact the database to run there associated queries EVERY time they are called.
There is an inherent overhead with the Portal architecture when contacting the database to generate portlets. The best thing you can do is tune your query to the maximum.

I copied one of the sap delivered DC and done my customizations.
if that is small chnage in the IView side you can do the portal personalization.

Passing value from dynamic page to form.....

I have a portal page that has a dynamic page where I've created an html form. Also on this same page in different regions are three other forms which were created by the form wizard. From the dynamic page form I want to pass a session value to the other forms on the same page. Is this possible? I know it's possible from form to form using session apis. I've search the forum and have not found what I'm looking for. Can anyone be of any help on this topic?

It seems we have the same type issue.
Session variable how to's are what I need also.
There is a site with more information on it...a continuation of the Portal Handbook by Vandivier and Cox at home.covad.net/~idbexperts called an "Unpublished Case Study" - I don't know if it'll hit your needs on the head, but it may help to see it.
I believe I am trying to hold session variables over til users complete a 4 part form across several pages (may be a space problem we have). Do you know how I start this?
I don't know how to put p_session variables together, when or where the parameters are necessary and whether a procedure is necessary or not!!!

Passing URL's as Parameters to Dynamic Pages

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to pass a full URL (including protocol http:// or https://) to a dynamic page as a parameter. The problem is that when the customization form is submitted, the ":" character in the URL is changed to "*!" and the page won't display. I tried using "REPLACE" in my dynamic page PL/SQL code to change the "*!" back into a ":" but to no avail.
Any suggestions?

How do I store and retrieve variables end user enters in Dynamic Pages ?

I have 4 dynamic pages, a user enters in variables on first page. At the next 3 dynamic pages I send the user to I have to display the items they entered on the first page in text items.
How do I pass these variables ????

ok, so on my page 1 I have the parameter "name", if I use <ORACLE> tags on this first dynamic page they are executed upon entering the form. The user has to enter the data and if the <ORACLE> tags have already executed where do I store the value ?
So where do I issue the wwsto_api_session.load_session (in the second dynamic page or the first one) ?
I can see that I'll use the wwsto_api_session.get_attribute_as_varchar2 ('name') in the second dynamic page with the htp.p - is that right ?
You wouln't have an example you could share with us all do you ? Sure seems like this is confusing to a lot of people. Are there any useful examples of this in the PDK that show how to do this with the HTML included ?

Caching in Dynamic Pages

Hi,
I have created a dynamic page(HTML) and published it as a portlet. I have included a call to display an image(say xyz.jpg) in the code. I have also published this dynamic page as a portlet and use it in a portal page. When I view the page it shows the image. When I change the underlying image(xyz.jpg), the new image(please note that that the images are different but the path and file name are the same) is not showing up in the portal page. Instead, the old image file is displayed. I have given Don't cache for the portal page. I also tried clearing cache for the page group, portal page and the dynamic page and it still displays the old image and not the new one. Is there a way to clear cache dynamically?

Wordpress generates absolute URLs to content rather than relative URLs, so the current workaround is to either use relative URLs or, if that's not possible, modify the wordpress configuration to use the IP address instead of localhost.

Dynamic page number

I am trying to print multiple documents in one report, the requirement is to reset page numbers for every document(to start counting from 1)
I don't have control over the size of the document because it is a flow table
I am using page conditional break to finish the document and start a new one but I couldn't change the page number.
Plz help I am really trying to solve this for a week now.
I am using 7.1 ADL

he solution is as follows
create 3 numeric fields in the header of the table
total
counter 1
counter 2
the total is to count the number of pages of each document
in initialization event
total = total + 1 ;
the counter 1 is to make the counter of the pages from 0 to total (invisible)
in calculate event
if ( counter 1 < total ) then
counter 1 = counter 1 + 1 .
elseif( counter 1 >= total ) then
counter 1 = 1
counter 2 to show the page number of the document
in layout ready
counter 2 = 1
in calculate event
counter 2 = counter 1 + 1
Note: this is the logic with little modification create the code

Automated tool to convert from Forms to Dynamic Page for Oracle Portal?

We are thinking to convert majority of the forms in our portal to dynamic pages. Is there any tool to automate the conversion from Forms to Dynamic page for Oracle Portal 9.0.4.1.0?

Dear Abbas,
You seem to have two issues... ;-)
If you are finding the Forms are getting corrupt very easily, I'd suggest you go and open a Service Request into Oracle Support (http://metalink.oracle.com). There are a couple of ways where you can have these not corrupted (depeding on the Portal version you are in) and if there isn't yet a way you may get a bug logged and fixed within the next patchset eventually (improving the product functionality).
As to changing it to a dynamic page it might give you a bit more flexibility... yeah. It really depends on what you desire to do. I'd slowly start to code them in this way if your goal is this. As to the former coded forms unfortunately as I've said there isn't a strait way to do that, so you may do this slowly in time...

Older Business HTML and Dynamic Page Table question

I am not sure if anyone will know here (or if this is the best place to post), but I have a question concerning using the Business HTML template library controls/API for use with ITS. I am attempting to use the "Dynamic Page Table" control, and have hit some problems. Does anyone have any example code they can share on getting this to work correctly (ie, paging through records, selecting from rows, etc)? I have "torn apart" the underlying Javascript and even modified my code to adjust for some formatting issues that the API's do not handle, however, my "pages" all display at once in the beginning and only hide when I use one of the paging icons (forward,back,all back, etc). THe "isVisible" parameter seems to do nothing for the "page" DIVs. Currently running the latest version of ITS and R/3 4.6b on the backend if that helps. Also, the example from the SAP Design Guild cookbook is very basic and does not "page" as I need. Thanks in advance!

Dynamic Page Layout - Opportunity Product Revenue

Hi gurus,
I am trying to setup a dynamic template for "Opportunity Product Revenues"
I set it up successfully in the object. However, this data is exposed only as a related list of Opportunity and not directly. Now, when I go into the "Opportunity" customization, it only allows me to set up static page layouts, with no option to setup the Dynamic page layouts through the Related list.

In a dynamic page how to share variable between PL/SQL and javascript

For example, my dynamic page contains such PL/SQL codes:

The variable 'info' and '_row_id' are correct, however the two HTP. sentence do not work. What's the problem?
What I want to do is to show all the records in TABLE A in a page. And at the end of each line (record), there' re a 'delete' and a 'update' button to let user operate on this record. Is this possible? I know form can do delete an update, but it can not show all the records in a page like what report does. Besides dynamic page, is there any other better choice? Report can do it?
One more question. In a report, I employed link on one field to a second report. It works well. But I want to open the second report in a new window when the link is click. Is this possible?

The code written by you is insufficient for the funtionality you are trying to achieve. Below is a method to achieve the same.
Note: Used standard scott.emp table for the example which is located in my db provider schema.
Do the below modifications as per your local configuration
xxxxx -> Replace it with your Portal schema
yyyyy -> Replace it with your db provider schema
<<module_id_of_form>> -> Replace with the module id of form created in step 1 & 2.
First and foremost... oracle does not allows variables starting with '_'. So if you want to use it you have to place it in double quotes ("")
rowid -> illegal
"_row_id" -> legal.
However, I will advice you not to use variable names starting with "_".
Now lets get started...
1. Create a form on the table you are using in the dynamic page. Just have the update button. Remove the other buttons.
2. Get the module id of this form. Instruction for getting the module id:
a) Right-click on the form's run link and copy the shortcut
b) Get the value of p_moduleid parameter. This is your module id.
3. Create a procedure "save_action_details" in your db provider schema. This procedure will accomplish the delete operation on the record.

Explaination: The above procedure creates a session and keeps the rowid and action in the session. This information is used by the below dynamic form to perform the necessary action. In our exampl, the action is always going to be delete so you may go ahead and hard code it, else leave it as it is.
4. Grant execute privilege on the procedure "save_action_details" to public.

a) In HTML code section have the below code. This code shows some columns from the table and "update" and "delete" buttons to perform the respective action.

Explaination: The session information (rowid and action) stored by "save_action_details" procedure is retrieved by the dynamic page and is used to delete the record.
6. Once you are through with the above steps, test it by placing the above "dynamic page" portlet on a page.
a) When you click on delete button the record gets deleted and the automatically refreshed page will not show the deleted record.
b) On clicking update button, a form will appear. do the necessary modifications in data and click update. the data in the form gets updated. Once you close the form the dynamic page gets refreshed automatically and it will show you the updated information.

Need to display column names in a dynamic page
