IE7 locks onto Mobil layout vs desktop layout

I am developing a new site and using the fluid grid layout. I have tested it on my laptop in Firefox v18, Internet Explorer 9, and Chrome v24. Everything was fine until I tested it on an XP desktop. Everything looked fine in Firefox v18 on the desktop, however, Internet Explorer 7 did not show the Content1 and Content2 as side by side columns that all the other browsers showed. In using the IE Developer Tool Bar it shows that the division style for them is width=100%. In reviewing my css the only place where Content 1 and Content 2 has width=100% is in the Mobile Layout for 480px and below. The Tablet and Desktop Layout both have those widths below 50%.

It just seems like IE7 is locking onto the very first section of the css and not moving to the desktop and I just haven't been able to solve this so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing a lot of looking around for possible solutions to this IE 7 issue with media queries. While there were a lot of diverse views on the subject I came across an article that seemed to be an easier solution to try than everything else. I downloaded the js file they recommended, copied and pasted


into my document and now IE 7 shows the web page just like FF, IE9, and Chrome does. It was a super easy fix, even for a novice.
I hope this helps someone else like it has helped me.

Can I add a topic link to a desktop layout sidebar tab?

I'm currently working in Robohelp 10 and using a modified version of the desktop layout. We don't need the Glossary tab in the sidebar, so I'd like to replace it with a Videos tab instead. I was able to add a new tab to the sidebar without a problem, but I'm having difficulty figuring out where to go from here. Ideally, when users click on Videos, I'd like it to launch one of our topics that already lists all our current videos and includes links to them. Is it possible to do this? Or is my only option to manually add the video links to that tab's section in the Topic.slp HTML? I'd like to avoid this if possible, since it would mean maintaining the videos list in multiple locations within the help project.

The question is always how much time and effort you are willing to invest. The easy answer is that the tab in the sidebar does not load topics, or any other data for that matter. If you want this behaviour, you will have to create it yourself.
It is possible to create a script to load the list of video's from a predetermined location. But if you want to get it from a topic, the script will have to be interesting as it will require a lot of parsing the topic to get the relevant data. An easier solution would be to maintain an XML with links and descriptions and read that. I offer consultancy for building precisely these kinds of solutions. Please PM me if you want to know more.

Publishing cancels with "access denied" error when publishing updates to desktop layout

Hello, all,
Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue: we update and republish our help projects frequently. We're currently using a layout based on the desktop layout (colors, fonts, and some other screen elements have changed). The project generates successfully. We publish via file transfer and have the "republish all" setting selected. Sometimes when we publish our multiscreen HTML5 layout, it cancels about halfway through the estimated time with a "publishing cancelled - access denied" error. If we delete the layout folder ("desktop" in this case) from the publishing location and retry publishing, it succeeds.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, what fixes (other than deleting content and republishing) have you found?
FYI, we also publish the same projects to the WebHelp Pro layout without any issues.

This problem used to occur with Publishing from Rh but I have not seen it for a long time, either myself or in posts.

Do a Select all on your pages (Most likely a master page if it effects all pages) and you will likely find an empty element or element that extends past the design edges in your desktop design.

X61 problem with maintaining Taskbar and Desktop layout

My X61 (WinXP) just doesn't seem to be able to save the Taskbar and Desktop layout / settings. It defaults to the Windows default and won't save the layout I set. I noticed that the registry has several entries that show "**del.NoSave Settings". Any idea where this came from and how to disable the source program that created it. Can I simply delete it from the Registry using RegEdit to recover the laptop abillity to save its Screen and Taskbar setting?

Not sure if I understand what you mean by "restricted computer with policies". I do have administrator rights so changing group policies is possible. Any suggestion as to which polcies might be preventing the saving of the taskbar and desktop layout saves? Thanks for responding.

Desktop layout always reverts back to default????

Hello- I'm 5 year FCP user and finally frustrated as to why for 5 years, almost every time I open a saved or recent project, my desktop layout reverts back to the default layout??? I then have to take the time to open up my saved layout and it still doesn't move all the windows back in place, especially the effects window. So frustrating! Any advice on how to correct this???

My first thought is that you need to reset the FCP preferences. At least up thru FCS2, whenever FCP starts to act strangely, it's usually due either to a recently installed app or upgrade, or to a FCP preference file gone astray. To reset your FCP prefs, an app that will do the work for you is at http://digitalrebellion.net/pref_man.htm
Or, you can do the same thing manually. A search for "trash preferences" in this forum will eventually lead you to discussions where all the individual steps are listed.
Another possibility is that one or more versions of apps loaded in your Mac are out of sync with each other. All I know about this is what I've read in this FCP forum. It seems that certain combinations of versions of FCP + OS + Quicktime work best together. If an installed version of any of those is too high or too low, then an upgrade or downgrade of the app will fix the problem. The version of QT is usually the first suspect.
In the info below your post, it indicates you're at 10.4, but not which version of FCP or QT you have installed. Perhaps if you post those, someone here who keeps track of version combos can spot if there's a potential problem with your version mix.
In the past 5 years, have you ever started from scratch with a blank hard drive and installed all your apps from the original disks? Whenever I upgrade to a new OS or FCP version, I just pop in a new HD and spend a day shuffling disks. Time consuming, but I believe it leads to far less time wasted down the road with crashes or troubleshooting.

Tablet & Phone Layout Displaying Desktop

My website is not displaying the tablet and phone layout properly. It worked the first time, but then reverted back to the desktop layout. I have checked many many times to make sure everything is linked properly, and everything is good to go. I've even re-uploaded a few times and I've also unchecked the option to default to the desktop layout. Nothing is fixing this issue.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong or if this is a bug. I have checked to make sure no empty text boxes or images or on the pages linking back to the wrong layout and I didn't find anything.

Default desktop layout

My X61 runs WinXP Pro, with ThinkVantage utilities including Presentation Director. While I can save the my preferred desktop layout with it (using "Captured Display Settings"), I would much prefer that the system defaults to this layout automatically on boot-up etc, rather than having to manually select it through Presentation Director on every system start-up. Can this be done?

My requirement is to get 3 buttons: 'Change Layout', 'Select Layout' and 'Save Layout'.
How can i achieve that?

Pls follow the steps below:
1. In the SAP Screen where u get the Change layout icon is grey out.
2. Pls type /nSU53.
3. After that pls open a new session.
4. Pls type SUIM
5. Now, select the "ROLES"
6. Enter your SAP ID and the T-code and click execute
7. The roles will displayed and kindly double click it.
8. Go to the authorization object tab
9. Select display authorization object (Bottom left)
10.Select FIND and enter the authorization object where you can get from /nSU53. The authorization object is start with F_*.
11.Now, click on the display and you can see the authorization object is missing.
12.You can sent the screen shot and request the SAP FICO Functional Team to maintain it in the SAP System.

Summary layout and detail layout

In my Web interface page, there are two layout, top one is summry layout and the bottom one is detail layout
The header for summary is as following:
company code,
personal area,
The header for the detail is as following:
company code,
personal area,
position.
the position is a leading column in summary layout.
The requirments is that the user can click any row in the summary layout, the detail layout should display the detail information for that position.
I define position in the detail planning level as vairable. definel both layout's "Excel Web Component" as true, define the variable position's
property for "Source for Selection" as summary layout.
according to the F1 online documents for "Source for Selection" Scenario 2, it should display the detail information according to the row I selected.
But, if I predefine a value for position variable in BPS0 through set variable, after I launch the web application it will the detail for that that position,but can not change to other position; if I leave the position variable's value as blank, it will result with error says that Restrict variable POSITION (Position) to single. Anybody can help?

use the handle in the variant parameter to the alv function module..That way the summary layout will be stored separately with the detail report..

How do i make websites think my mobile is a desktop? I cant stand those sites where it forces you to view the "mobile version" i want Firefox to automatically tell them its a "desktop" not a "mobile" so that i can go to any site without changing anything but the FULL website.
