IE7 Padding Bug with Spry Effects

I'm having a recurring issue with using the Spry Blind effect
in IE7 where, when upon trigerring the Blind, the width of the
element being expanded/contracted is expanding out to the right
over it's edges.
For example.
A div with a width of 800px and a padding of 20px;
When a Blind is triggerred on this element, the width of the
element would expand to 840px, the padding on the left side remains
fine, but the text now goes all the way to the right edge of the
newly widened element.
This has been extremely frustrating and doesn't occur in
Firefox.
I'm hoping this is a common problem. My implementation of the
script is fairly straightforward so I don't know if there is
anything else but a bug with the effect.

Here is a somewhat messy version of the page I am working
with.
http://derekprospero.com/michael/example.html
If you click the green down arrow at the bottom of the top
right pane you will see the error.
The table expands out past the borders of the div. The
padding-left and padding-right on this div is 20px each, and it
expands out to 40px past the border of the div, so I am assuming
there is some correlation.
It also happens on the bottom one, though it is not as
evidence, since the text goes behind the background, isntead of
over it.

  • Spry static gallery combined with Spry Effect Observers

    I have set up a Spry static gallery using the

    here.
    I would like to add a cross fade for the main image using the
    Spry Effect Observers shown at the bottom of
    this

    I like the thumbnail grow effect used in the first demo and
    like to add a cross fade for the main image when the thumbnail is
    clicked. Have someone built such an example or can someone show me
    how it is done? Typically I have 4 thumbnails/images per product
    page.

    This is a user to user forum, Adobe will never reply to you.
    Also, Spry is still a pre-release framework, its nowhere near
    finished.
    Its the kind of framework where you take whats available and
    make
    something out of it, its very flexible if you know
    javascript.
    I am learning javascript just to understand the little bits
    that I am
    experimenting with, I think its the only way forward if you
    intend to do
    something outside the box.

  • Launch Pad bug with Multi-Monitors in Mavericks...

    I noticed something while trying to use a two monitor setup with Mavericks 10.9. After moving from the primary laptop monitor to the secondary monitor, I noticed that after clicking in the screen to make it the active screen that the LaunchPad gesture would not work. From there I proceeded to drag the pointer down to access the Dock. I noticed after touching the Dock in the secondary monitor, then LaunchPad gesture would work. If I try the LaunchPad gesture before touching the dock, the system brings up LaunchPad in the screen of the previously active monitor. I noticed the same senario when moving from the secondary monitor back to the primary monitor. So, in a nut shell:
    1.) When moving from one active monitor screen to another, click in the inactive screen to make it the active screen.
    2.) Move pointer to the Dock (wait for Dock to rise).
    3.) After the first two steps, THEN the LaunchPad gesture can be used in the now active monitor.
    Has anyone else noticed this? Now a big deal but it is an annoyance I cannot believe no one else has seen.

    Thank you!  Your solution worked for me.
    It seems to be a bug in multimonitors.

  • Help with IE7 and flash with spry

    I been working on this site for some time and still need
    help. I am using xml datasets to retrive the menus. I set of menus
    - MenuBar1 are weblog, about the designer, and contact which work
    on pulling the data into contentDiv division. I'm doing the same
    thing for portfolio MenuBar2 which is setting a variable
    xmlDataPath1 and then loading in flash using swfobject 1.5 into the
    flashcontent divsion. This works in Safari Mac, FF Mac, and FF PC.
    What does not work is IE7, the latest one. This was working in IE7
    but you would get the click to activate. I ran the IE7 earlier this
    week which did away with the click to activate but now the flash is
    not loading. Well I think the flash is loading but not display, if
    that makes sense. I had set a alert to output the value of
    xmlDataPath1 which was correct.
    Now I don't know what to do next to get this to work. Anyone?
    charlie-imac

    I changed up the swf code to version 2 and still have the
    same
    problem. For some reason IE does not read the xmlDataPath.
    I've even
    hard coded the value both as:
    var xmlDataPath1 = 'test2';
    and
    flashvars.xmlDataPath = "eryx/test2/gallery.xml";
    Any ideas?

  • Bug in theme effects-Nokia 5230

    Dear friends, I'm using Nokia 5230 for an year. I noticed a bug with theme effects after update to v21.x.x and this bug is not recovered by Nokia upto v40.x.x. The bug is when you press Options then You will see an option call "Show open apps. *" the star symbol is covered by white background(square) instead of black background(square), it is very annoying, it happens only when theme effects are set to on.
    I found the same problem with my friend's new 5230.

    Nokia should release a update to fix this. It happend after the update to v21.x.x.
    How to report this to Nokia software developers.

  • Spry Effects with Animated GIF

    Hi,
    I'm using Spry's fade it effect in conjunction with Spry's
    update content to update a div with html content. Now i have an
    animated gif that is totally non-related to this action on the
    screen that is "draggable". What is happening is that each time i
    invoke Spry's update content....The animation of the GIF
    stops....However, this happens in IE and not FF...
    Is there a bug here?

    Hi,
    Just an FYI, in most browsers, JavaScript executes on the
    main UI thread which is the same thread that is responsible for
    painting/updating the screen. If you have JS on the page that is
    doing some long operation in a tight loop, or if you dynamically
    insert lots of HTML content into the document, causing the browser
    to recalculate/layout/re-render a lot of content in the page, then
    you might see this situation.
    I can't tell what your situation is without seeing what you
    are actually doing.

  • Problem with Spry:Repeat and Slide Effect on IE6

    I run the website for my kids' hockey association and I'm not
    a web programmer. I am trying to display events in a Spry region
    using spry:repeat. The data is coming from a Google Calendar . I
    display the event date and title on the main page. I have the
    onclick set to call a javascript function that exposes the details
    using the spry slide effect. It works ok except in IE6.
    The following creates my dataset from a method call to a
    Coldfusion component that returns the XML I need:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML",
    "events/event",{distinctOnLoad:false});
    </script>
    The following function slides open the detail:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function startBlind(rid) {
    var contentdiv = document.getElementById('panel'+ rid
    +'Content');
    var panel_height = contentdiv.clientHeight;
    if (panel_height<100){
    var bd = new Spry.Effect.Blind('panel'+ rid +'Content',
    {duration: 800, to: '100px', toggle: true});
    else {
    var bd = new Spry.Effect.Blind('panel'+ rid +'Content',
    {duration: 800, to: '0px', toggle: true});
    bd.start();
    </script>
    Within the repeat I have:
    <div class="EventPanelLabel"
    onclick="startBlind({ds_RowID});">{startDate} &mdash;
    {title}</div>
    I think the XML looks OK but for some reason when the page
    loads, IE6 returns:
    Exception caught while loading
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML:
    [object Error]
    The page seems to work fine in Safari and Firefox on the Mac
    and IE7 as well as Firefox on Windows. Just IE6 seems to be having
    the problem. Could you please take a look at
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org
    and provide any suggestions you may have?
    Also, is there a way to hide the {startDate} - {title} I'm
    seeing while the page loads?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kin:
    Thanks for your reply. I made the changes you suggested but,
    unfortunately, IE6 is still giving me the same error when the page
    loads:
    Exception caught while loading
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML:
    [object Error]
    Could this be part of the problem an need to be changed as
    well? :
    <div id="panel{ds_RowID}Content"
    Any other ideas? The page is live if you'd care to look...

  • Spry Sliding Panel bugs with Flash SWF, iFrames, CSS background images

    Greetings,
    I'm working on a site right now that is build with Spry 1.6
    Sliding Panels. On the home panel I have integrated a looping SWF,
    and scrolling iFrames on the Overview panel. After extensive
    research on these forums, I'm still scratching my head at a few
    bugs listed below:
    • Firefox (MAC v2.0.0.14)
    - The SWF on the home panel doesn't hide properly when
    sliding to a different panel. I have set 'wmode opaque' parameters
    to the flash file, but this seems to have not resolved the issue.
    - Additionally, I've noticed that sometimes the SWF will not
    finish sliding into the correct position when clicking to the home
    panel (the SWF will stop sliding several pixels left of the
    original positioning).
    - The SWF (which happens to be a loop animation) resets every
    time the home panel is visited. In my testing, this does not happen
    in any other browser.
    - On the Overview panel, scrolling iFrames are used on the
    "Staff Profiles". These iFrames don't hide properly when clicking
    through other panels, as the scroll bars are still viewable.
    - Overall, the sliding animation is a bit choppy compared to
    all other browsers. I can live with this, but I wonder if I have
    improper code somewhere?
    • Opera (MAC v9.27)
    - Same issue as above concerning the fact that the SWF
    appears outside of the sliding panel view port.
    • IE 6
    - CSS background images flash during the sliding panel
    animation.

  • Problem combining Spry effects with image captions [was: LShub]

    I am using Spry effects combo sample 2. The thumbnails in the sample are all included within the same preview div. I need to include captions underneath the images, so I have each thumbnail and caption within a separate div. The effect still works everywhere except Explorer. In Explorer 7, the image grows behind the image in the next div.
    I read through the Spry for Ajax forum, but the Java Script used there is different. I have tried putting all the divs I want to grow inside another and giving the new div a position and z index. Hi guys,
    I just would like to know why adding position: absolute on my
    css would stop the Spry Effects from doing its job? Thanks!

  • IE7 and Spry Effect

    In IE 7 when you start your div with display: none; in order
    to have the slide collapsed at start, when it expands, the text
    inside the div remains hidden, in FireFox the text displays
    properly. Any ideas?

    I just tried V1 Fusions idea and it sort of works, didn't
    have time to play with it more.
    The solution I found, though its still hack and I don't like
    it is to add a second effect to start it off closed:
    so my two effects are:
    var slideClose_effect = new Spry.Effect.Slide("slide1",
    {duration: 1, from: '0%', to: '0%', toggle: false});
    var slide_effect = new Spry.Effect.Slide("slide1", {duration:
    200, from: '0%', to: '100%', toggle: true);
    where slide_effect is triggered on a click of a link
    slideClose_effect is triggered on the page load
    and then I start off the div as visibility = hidden for the
    sliding div. Which works but now there is a blank div that
    collapses on load then works perfectly. I just wish I could start
    out with it collapsed at the get go.
    here are my two effects

    Fixes bug with shader-transition effects (AnimateTransitionShader, Wipe, and CrossFade) when acting on targets that either have filters or are inside a hierarchy with filters. Fix was to capture the bitmap snapshot of the target without any of its own filters applied and to then use the ShaderFilter in conjunction with the target's filters during the animation.

    Lots to be excited about. BUT...Just updated to 8.1 on one of my computers to test it out...
    Sadly, the following issue is NOT fixed for me. Is it with new projects only?  I haven't started a new project on 8.1 I've only opened an old project but the issue that I'm referring to which involves also a delay/freeze of anywhere from a few seconds to a MINUTE while the render bar goes from yellow to red and then back to yellow is still there. Boo.
    On the list above...
    Switching between sequences can turn the render bar red.
    This issue is incredibly easy to replicate. I really do hope it gets fixed. Here are the steps:
    1) Create two sequences with multiple short clips (the more clips the better)
    2) Make sure GPU acceleration is enabled.
    3) Add warp stabilizer to the clips in both sequences. Again, the more clips the longer the delay/freeze will be as the render bar goes from YELLOW to RED and then eventually back to YELLOW again.
    4) Hit SAVE.
    5) Now, toggle between sequences. You'll hit a short delay with a few clips stabilized and a LONG delay with lots stabilized. In my case this delay is around a full minute. The render bar will go from YELLOW to RED and then back to yellow...eventually.
    6) Toggle back to the original sequence and the delay occurs again.
    7) Once you've toggled between sequences and have gone through this delay, that's it, there is no longer a delay...UNTIL...(and here's the big kicker)...until the project is SAVED again. After that the issue returns when you toggle between sequences. Both saving manually and AUTOSAVING cause this issue. No way around it except not editing with GPU acceleration.
    Not sure what the issue is...caching issue when saving maybe? Either way, it stinks and it's still there in 8.1. Big bummer.
    Again, lots to be excited about with this release but I really was hopefully this specific issue was resolved.
    Sigh.

  • IE / Spry Bug with custom error handler

    Ok, as I was looking through SpryData.js I noticed these
    wonderful lines:
    Spry.Utils.loadURL.callback = function(req)
    if (!req || req.xhRequest.readyState != 4)
    return;
    if (req.successCallback && (req.xhRequest.status ==
    200 || req.xhRequest.status == 0))
    req.successCallback(req);
    else if (req.errorCallback)
    req.errorCallback(req);
    In particular the "errorCallback()" method interested me as I
    wanted to introduce my own error handler. As I went about testing
    this I came up with a quick try of:
    var url = "/cfcs/mycfc.cfc?method=IsValidPath&path=" +
    encodeURIComponent(sl.value + sd.value);
    var optionsObj = new Object();
    optionsObj.errorCallback = ShowError;
    Spry.Utils.loadURL("GET", url, false, ValidateForm,
    optionsObj);
    And this works great in FF, but not IE. When I cause an error
    to occur from ColdFusion I pass a status code of "500". In FF the
    error code causes my "ShowError" function to fire, but not in IE. I
    tracked it to this bit of code in SpryData.js:
    Spry.Utils.loadURL = function(method, url, async, callback,
    opts)
    var req = new Spry.Utils.loadURL.Request();
    req.method = method;
    req.url = url;
    req.async = async;
    req.successCallback = callback;
    Spry.Utils.setOptions(req, opts);
    try
    req.xhRequest = Spry.Utils.createXMLHttpRequest();
    if (!req.xhRequest)
    return null;
    if (req.async)
    req.xhRequest.onreadystatechange = function() {
    Spry.Utils.loadURL.callback(req); };
    req.xhRequest.open(req.method, req.url, req.async,
    req.username, req.password);
    if (req.headers)
    for (var name in req.headers)
    req.xhRequest.setRequestHeader(name, req.headers[name]);
    req.xhRequest.send(req.postData);
    if (!req.async)
    Spry.Utils.loadURL.callback(req);
    catch(e) { req = null; Spry.Debug.reportError("Exception
    caught while loading " + url + ": " + e.message); }
    return req;
    Apparently running (req.xhRequest.send(req.postData);) in IE
    will throw an error if the requested page throws an error status
    code. This causes the try/catch in the Spry function to catch the
    IE error and never allows my own error handler to run. Hopefully a
    fix for this will be in the works because I really like the idea of
    being able to use my own error handler.
    --------Edited after initial post.--------
    Ok, I figured out another item of interest. My requests
    earlier were set to "async = false". If I set "async = true" then
    it does work. I realized that because I was using sychronous mode
    and IE was throwing the error, it was preventing the call to the
    "Spry.Utils.loadURL.callback" method from occuring, while asynch
    mode uses the onreadystatechange to call the function and thus
    causes my own error handler to function. I am still interested to
    know if there is a bug here somewhere and if it is just IE or Spry
    or both. Looking forward to reading any posts.

    Hi WraithBudde,
    Thanks for all the details. In my opinion this is indeed a
    bug in Spry for the synchronous case. I'll file a bug and fix it.
    > You know you love me.
    Heh, yeah, I love anybody who takes the time to report bugs
    ... especially when they've narrowed it down to the exact set of
    lines in the source.
    Once again ... THANKS!

  • BUG report about Spry.Effect.Highlight

    When the Spry.Effect.Highlight effect is not accomplished,
    and click the trigger link, will report the error "startColor
    undefined".

    Can you please elaborate? Which "trigger link" do you mean?
    Are you using the Spry 1.4 release?
