IF function - keep same referenced logical test value

I have a table with 1000+ rows in Sheet 1. In this same sheet, in a different column, say starting at D2, I'd like to evaluate the value of all the cells in column C, with a defined referenced valued in Sheet 2, cell B2. Here's the use of my IF function
which produces the correct result:
=IF(C2=Sheet2!B2, "Yes", "No")
However, keeping in mind that I have a 1000+ rows in Sheet 1, when after using the above function in D2, when I hold down the CTRL key to copy this function all the way down to D1000+, the referenced cells are also increased by a factor of 1. So
for instance, while D2's formula is shown as above, D3 would be, =IF(C3=Sheet2!B3, "Yes", "No"), and D4's, =IF(C4=Sheet2!B4, "Yes", "No"), so on and so forth.
What I'd like to do is, is to keep the referenced value, in my case B2 unchanged, as in =IF(C3=Sheet2!B2, "Yes", "No") or =IF(C303=Sheet2!B2, "Yes", "No").
Not sure if I've explained my situation clearly enough to decipher, but I'm hoping to find a quick way to accomplish this without having to change each cell's value so that it only references B2 and not automatically increment.
Any help/suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,
if you want the reference to Sheet2!B2 to remain exactly the same when the formula is copied down, you need to make it an absolute reference by adding $ signs in front of the column letter and the row number
=IF(C2=Sheet2!$B$2, "Yes", "No")
The $ sign makes the reference absolute, so it points to exactly that row and/or column.
If you add a $ sign before the column letter, that column letter will not change when the formula is copied to the right.
If you add a $ sign before the row number, that row number will not change when the formula is copied down.
=A1 copied down will be =A2
=A1 copied across will be =B1
If you add $ signs in front of the column letter or row number then ...
=$A1 copied across will stay =$A1 but copied down, the row will adjust to =$A2
=A$1 copied down will stay =A$1, but copied across, the column will adjust to =B$1
=$A$1 will always stay as =$A$1 no matter if it is copied across or down.
The $ sign is  called "absolute referencing". A cell address without the $ signs is a relative address, because it will change depending on the position it is  copied to.

  • The Keyword.URL function keeps resetting to a different value.

I just downloaded Firefox 4, and normally what I would in Firefox 3.6, I would type a keyword in the URL bar. And it comes up saying that I'm searching using:
    jar:file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.properties
I don't know where that came from, so I opened about:config, went to keyword.URL and switched to Google.
Okay, it works now. I exit it, and I later on opened it back up. I put in a word again. The same thing came up from when I started:
    jar:file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.properties
I try fixing it again. It works now.
It seems the problem is the keyword.URL value keeps resetting, but I don't know how it got "jar:file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.properties" to appear on it.
So, is this just a bug on Firefox 4, or am I just the only one experiencing it? And if so, how can I solve this problem?
I know I have like two other search engines available for use on my browser, but I mostly use the URL bar to search. Any solutions?

How can we get someone from Mozilla to correctly answer these questions instead of people like us? No offence, but there are different answers to this question all over the net and none of them are right. It is frustrating enough at time to drop Firefox altogether.

  • Why does getdate() function return same time value for multiple select statements executed sequentially

When I run the following code
    set nocount on
declare @i table(id int identity(1,1) primary key, sDate datetime)
    while((select count(*) from @i)<10000)
    begin
    insert into @i(sDate) select getdate()
    end
select top 5 sDate, count(id) selectCalls
    from @i

    order by count(id) desc
    I get the following results.

As you can see the select getdate() function returned same time up to the milisecon 406 time for the first date value.  This started happening when we moved our applications to a faster server with four processors.  Is this correct or am I
    going crazy?

Observe that adding 2 ms is accurate only with datetime2.  As noted above, datetime does not have ms resolution:
    set nocount on
    declare @d datetime, @i int, @d2 datetime2
    select @d = getdate(), @i = 0, @d2 = sysdatetime()
    while(@i<10)
    begin
    select @d2, @d, current_timestamp, getdate(), sysdatetime()
    select @d = dateadd(ms,2,@d), @i = @i+1, @d2=dateadd(ms,2,@d2)

  • SUMIF to sum only if test-value field is non-blank?

Hey Numbers experts, I'm looking for a way to conditionally sum the values in a column. In other words, if the corresponding field in my "test values" column is blank, I do not want to include the value from the same row in my "sum values" column. Is there a way to do this?
It seems that SUMIF is the perfect function, I just can't figure out a way to make it look for only non-blank fields. the test values, except for the blank fields, are all going to be unique values, so there is really nothing else to use as a test other than the presence or absence of data. Help?
    Thanks in advance!

    C2=SUMIF(A, "<>"&"", B)
this is shorthand for... select cell C2, then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:
    =SUMIF(A, "<>"&"", B)
    the expression:
    "<>"&""
    reads:
"is not equal to the empty string"

  • NQSError: 22047] The Dimension used in AGO function must be referenced

    Hi All,
I am selecting the following columns in the report:
    1. Dimension.Product
    2. Sales: Directly mapped to physical datasource
    3. Prior Month Sales: calculated using the AGO function at the Month Level
    4. Var from Prior Month : Sales - Prior Month Sales (Calculated at the Logical Level)
Time Dimensional Hierarchy is Year > Quarter > Month
I am getting the data for the same but when I apply Grand Total is throws the error:
nQSError: 22047] The Dimension used in AGO function must be referenced in the query. (HY000)
When I use the filter for the Month filed it is coming up fine but when I remove the month filter and apply on Year it doesnt work.
Can anybody please let me know how this works?

This error is happening in request?
You have to apply filter MONTH because you are calling month in AGO function. Try to create YEAR AGO calculation and then try combining filters, you will see that then YEAR will be important, not month.

  • Formula function in formula of type Rate Value Calculation does not work

    Hi,
We are trying to prorate eligible salary based on some business rules.
We have defined Standard rates with calculation method as 'Calculate for Enrollment Rule' and attached a formula in the 'Value Rule' field.
Now inside the formula, if i directly return a value like 'Return 9000' , it works correctly. However, if i have a fomrula function and return the value as follows,
    l_value = CUSTOM_FF_FUNCTION()
    retunr l_value
    it does not return value.
I have attached a package function that simply returns 4000 just for debugging.
Even this does not return the value back to the formula
    Any pointers will be useful
    Thanks,
    LN

Sorry. I had not checked this post earlier.
We had 2 functions with same name and same contexts on the same database. Each of the functions called a separate package function and had its own logic.
So sometimes the first function was called. At some other times, the second function was called.
We deleted one of the functions and the formula worked well.

  • Video keeps failing the harding test - working with stock. Can you help??!

I have made a music promo, unfortuantely i have had it back from MTV twice now as it keeps failing the harding test (to test to see if it triggers epilietic siezures).
I am working with stock from the prelinger archives, which - to be honest - has been a nightmare to work with for various reasons.
The wierd thing is, the test has failed twice, both on different areas. I edited the video after it failed the first time, then it failed on a totally un-related area on the second test, which the first test didn't pick up.
I am getting "luminance flashes" between 0.5 and 2.2. Is there a way I can filter these out in the edit rather than get the video sent back again? The "luminance flshes" can not even be made out to the naked eye. I have changed the problem areas, then it picks up something else once I send it to MTV again.
Clearly something is happening when I export the video and get it transferred to Digibeta (same file, same edit - just changed slightly), OR - something is happening in Final Cut pro when I export to DV tape which is making this happen.
£60 a time for a digibeta transfer is becomming quite expensive. Especially if I get it sent back again!

I am getting "luminance flashes" between 0.5 and 2.2.
    What is this value?
The "luminance flshes" can not even be made out to the naked eye. I have changed the problem areas, then it picks up something else once I send it to MTV again.
A flash that cannot be seen by YOUR eye takes place at the field level and you are probably watching your video on a progressive monitor that cannot display fields.
A test that indicates you fialed should provide a precise timecode reference for each episode. If not, or if the failures move, their test is suspect.
Is there a way I can filter these out in the edit rather than get the video sent back again?
Without seeing your video, field by field, there's no way to really know where to send you for help. You do not seem to have the technical ability or facility to perform the quality assurance required by MTV. Their engineers should be able to offer some technical assistance or refer you to a good post production house that can cure your problems once and for all. However, it is a simple matter to apply color and luma correction at your current dub house when they do your transfer. They should be doing that for you anyway.

  • Converting a VBScript for Exchange 2003 to Function the same for Exchange 2010

Converting a VBScript for Exchange 2003 to Function the same for Exchange 2010
    Afternoon;
I've run into a problem at this time.  We are currently looking into migrating from Exchange 2003 into Exchange 2010 and I'm finding that my normal data collection method is no longer usable in Exchange 2010.  I have the script posted below as of
what I'm currently using to collect my information, I just need to know of a means to continue the collection when we move to the new Exchange server.  Any assistance in getting this to function with Exchange 2010 would be great.

Okay, then what about an alternative for getting the same result. The file associated in the article is too much.  All we need is something simple for a single exchange server with 180 users.  We only need to pull UserName and DataSize(KB).
I only need to collect two pieces of information from the exchange server and the third piece is forced due to the date of when the information was collected.  This way I can sort and filter by Date and Name to see a trend of the users mailbox usage
    size.
Every day this runs, it determines the date of the file which is also the first piece, then pulls from the exchange server the entire list of users (the second piece), and then the respective user's mailbox size in KB (the third piece).  This all is
dropped into a CSV file later used to import into a database before being archived, done by a second task on the server.  Later used by a shared Excel PowerPivot document among the department.
Those of us in the server admin group use this to, at a glance, see the collective size of email usage on the server.  Mainly used as a means of catching an incident before it happens.  We are currently keeping our users around a collective 80GB
of use out of the well received limit of 110GB on Exchange 2003 and limiting the user's ability to send and receive email by email quota is apparently not accepted for us to do.  So we use this to determine who we need to visit and force archive their
email so the server doesn't fail due to the size limit.
VBScript is what I prefer. All scripts must have a kill switch to manage them from a primary location. Mine, is an updater method.

  • How to show header value in each page same as Page field value.

    Hi there
It would be very helpful if anyone could tell us how to set header value based on the page field.
To make it more clear.. i have a field in my Rtf (which is basically a group by) so in each page it'll differ.. My Header should reflect the same as field value.
what my understanding is header wont change for each page. but ,my requirement is something like i have to show the header which is same as one of my filed value..
    for eg:
    HEADER: ABC page-1
    Field - ABC
    HEADER:XYZ page-2
    Field - XYZ
    Regards - Vijay

    Hi Haiye ,
The Pointer you gave would keep Header ABC through out all the pages in report right, actually i had tried this and got same header for all pages,
but what i need is my first page Header should be based on one of the field of Page 1, second pge Header again based on the same field, but the value may differ... (coz the page field is group by ).
Would appreciate your help on this issue!!

  • Writing user defined function the same way as the oracle functions

    Hi Guys,
In one of the interviews , I have attended the guy asked me to write a user defined function which will take the column name and list all the values .
    For example
    Table Name:Employees
    Column Name: Employee_Name
    Employee_name
    Scott
    Ivgun
    Jack
    Shane
The query should be in this fromat
    SELECT col_agg(Employee_name) emp_name from Employees;
    The output shoulld be
    Emp_names
    scott,ivgun,jack,shane
Please let me know if this is possible

member function ODCIAggregateMerge(self in out clobagg_type, ctx2 in clobagg_type) return number
create or replace type body clobagg_type is
static function ODCIAggregateInitialize(sctx in out clobagg_type) return number is

      begin
        returnValue := self.text;

  • Programming logic test?

    Hi,
Im going for a programmer job interview.
I havent been in an interview for a programmer job, but i know there will be a logic test.
do you guys have an example of these logic tests?
or what can kind of information it will be presented to me?
so i will know what to expect from the test.
it will be greatly appreciated to hear of people who have taken this test.
    thanks.

    1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?
Stop and think about it, and decide on your answer before you scroll down.
The correct answer is:Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door.
This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.
Which insures that when they are asked to store a password in the database that
    1. It will be stored directly as plain text.
    2. There will be zero error handling.
Or that you read 10 million record XML file directly into a String[] in your pgm.

2 How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?
decide on your answer before you scroll down.
Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?
    Wrong Answer.
    Correct Answer:
Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door.
This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions..
So when a database error does show up they will write an exception handler for only that error and only at the place where it occurred.
Or that the next time you need to process a large XML file, you read and write each and every record one at a time and write them out one at a time, while searching for your key.

    3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals
Attend .... Except one. Which animal does not attend?
decide on your answer before you scroll down.
    Correct Answer : The Elephant.
The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there.
This tests your memory.. So when the database is hacked (worst case) or a security audit notices it (best case) the developer will whine that they only did what they were told.
Perhaps you notice that you neglected to parameterize(sic) the key and ended up looking for the same key each time the process runs.

    4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and
You do not have a boat. How do you manage it?
decide on your answer before you scroll down.
    >
    Correct Answer:?
You jump into the river and swim across.
    Have you not been listening?
All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting.
This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes. And when you are fired from the first job for storing the passwords you will look for a job that doesn't involve databases because obviously the database was the source of the problem. You decide to strip off all XML tags next time you have to process a file before reading it.
Bu true, some things don't scale that well.

  • Need to Keep track of last prompted value

I have a requirement. I need to keep track the last prompted value.
Like, If we have run a report for '01-01-2013' date and 'Sony' Category. If the same report I will run in next time the report should run with those default value ('01-01-2013' date and 'Sony' Category). That means default value of a dashboard prompt should be the last prompted value.
Please tell me how to achieve the same.

  • SSHR - Custom function keeps breaking!!

My Private Vehicle custom functions keep breaking and I don't know why!!!
When I say "custom", I am simply duplicating PQPVEHINFOPROCESS_MGR_SS and PQPVEHINFOPROCESS_SS and renaming them. I make the necessary amendments to the HTML Call and Parameters and they work perfectly but then when I have revisited the function as part of testing after a few weeks, they error!! This has happened three times now. Each time the solution has been to repeat the whole process.
We have exclusive use of the environment and no patches/updates have been applied. No changes have been made to config/setup so I cannot understand why this is happening.
Has anyone come across this before? The error does not occur with the seeded function. What am I doing wrong?

  • Test value in advanced recordset

    HI
In the binding recordset I have a filter looking for a date
matching the URL parameter. In the simple panel, a valid test value
    returns normal data.
Unfortunately, testing my web page does not returns any data.
In the advanced panel of the recordset, testing the same
query does not return any data. This is matching the result I have
    in the web page.
    1) Why the advanced test panel does not require a testing
    value.
    2) Why the 2 testings does not return the same results.
    Thanks

I just ran into this problem too. Am running DW8 with CF8 on
    Mac.
