If I already own Aperture 2, do I have to buy Aperture 3?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina 15" 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I own Aperture 2 and haven't used it for a while. I upgraded to Yosemite and now it seems I need to upgrade to Aperture 3. Do I have to buy the new package?
The kicker is I just want to transfer the library to Lightroom. Buying the soon to be unsupported Aperture seems silly.

Locate the library with the Finder (the library not the application) select the library and then right click (control click) it and select Show package contents from the menu.
This will show you the interior of the library. It has been a long tine since I have seen a library from Aperture 2 so I can't give you explicit details but the originals will be in there somewhere. I think they were kept in folders names after the projects but I could be wrong.
Anyway once you find the original you can treat them as you would any file, copying it, opening it, etc.  I suggest you make  a backup of the library before starting you will not be able to replace the originals if something goes wrong.

  • I own Aperture 3, is there a way of putting it on my ipad without having to purchase the app?

I am just wondering if i already own Aperture 3 there is a way of having to pay for it again for my ipad?

    Allan --
The linked article is not a review and does not mention Aperture for the iPad.  (It's an outdated and not very well-informed guide to using iTunes to sync photos from Aperture to an iPad.)
There is no Aperture for iPad listed in the App Store (US version?).
I can't find any Aperture program listed in the iTunes store (US version?  Searched for "Aperture".)
    Can you provide some links?
    Thanks.

  • I already own lightroom and photoshop and just want to pay to upgrade not sign up for a monthly fee

Im tyring to upgrade my lightroom from 4 to 5 and I already own photoshop, but when I try to buy the upgrade i get taken to a creative cloud monthly subscription where I have to sign up to $8 a month indeifinitely, is this my only option to upgrade now?

Then go to the UK Adobe site and at the bottom of the page click on the link that says Products. It is a Small Link at the bottom of the main page.
    Then this page.
If that fails to get you to the UK site then click the Change Region link and select UK.

The hard drive on my MacBookPro recently crashed.  The Apple store replaced it.  Since then I can't open iphoto.  It asks to rebuild library; when I click yes, I get: "Aperture cannot access this library; reset permissions." I don't own Aperture!  Any thoughts on how I can rebuild the iphoto library?  Currently I can't even get into it.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart

  • HT1473 If I already own a song (from a different album) and the same song is in an album which I want to get, do I still have to pay for the song?

    Other details:
First album/s- Dookie (Green Day), american idiot (green day)
and 21st century breakdown (green day)
Album with same songs in it- international super hits (green day)

If I already own a song (from a different album) and the same song is in an album which I want to get, do I still have to pay for the song?
    Yes.
The album which the song has been listed under (on the song's page) is listed in your library under that album. The song is then removed automatically from the first album
    No it's not.
Purchasing a new song or album will not affect any other song or album in your library.
In the case of the two albums you mention, if you purchase them both, you will have the same song (different copies) in both albums.

  • Will I be able to download songs I already own in 256Kbps?

I was under the impression that when I subscribe to iTunes Match, songs I already own on CD will be able to be downloaded at 256Kbps on my computer.  The reason this would be of some value to me is some of the songs I imported from CDs were from slightly damaged disks and have some audio "artifacts" during playback. Re-importing at different compressions has done nothing to improve the sound quality and I've resorted to re-purchasing some of the tracks and in some cases, entire CDs so I can get clean copies.
Reading the features of iTunes Match, I thought that if a song you already own is available on iTunes, you would be able to download it via iTunes Match at 256Kbps.
Is this acurate or can you only stream at 256Kbps? Is iTunes actually uloading the bad tracks for playback even though a clean copy is available in the store?
A few of my damaged tracks play back that way, damaged.  They did not previously exist on my iPhone during my test so I'm a little confused...
    Donald

Downloading about 4300 higher bit rate replacements as I write this...and they're mine to keep regardless of whether or not I renew new year (which I will).
Make sure you enable the iCloud Status field to see whether or not the track was Matched or Uploaded.  If uploaded, you would only be redownloading the version you have and not a replacement.

  • How can I watch movies I already own?

I have three girls and we already own every princess movie ever made. How can I load these movies on the iPad without having to re-purchase them?

If you need to change the file format, Format Factory, MPEGStreamclip or Handbrake will convert them to m4v or MPEG4 that the iPad will play.
Anything dealing with the CSS encryption you'll need to google for elsewhere. We can't help you with that part.

  • Gift This APP-but already owns?

I want to gift an app to a friend, but I'm not sure if she already owns it. It's obviously null to ask her first.
So what happens to the purchase if she does already have the app?

She'll have a duplicate purchase. The iTunes Store cannot check to see if she already owns that app before you send the gift, and they don't give refunds. So the best route, though I understand it may spoil a surprise, is to find out if she has the app already before you give the gift.
    Regards.

    Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1
I just tried this on my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.0). I did an iTunes Store search for "Mickey Mouse"...
    After the search result:
    1. Panned over to "Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1"
    2. Tapped the icon
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
At this point nothing happened no matter how many times I tapped the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
    I then:
    1. Tapped the Search button at the top left which took me back to the initial search results.
    2. Tapped on "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Vol.1" (a totally different title)
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
Then I was presented with the options dialog which includes "Gift"
    I then went back to:
    1. "Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1"
    2. Tapped the icon
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
At this point, I was now presented with the options dialog which includes "Gift"
So in my case, going through the motions with a -different title-, then going back to  "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Vol.1" fixed it for me.

  • WLS 12.1.2.0.0 : Another user (admin2) already owns the lock.

    hi
Please consider a WebLogic Server 12.1.2.0.0 that is NOT in Production Mode (so in Development Mode).
When is a button like "Take Lock & Edit" (ever) to be expected?
    Or messages like :
    - "admin2 is currently making changes."
    - "Another user (admin2) already owns the lock. You will need to either wait for the lock to be released, or take the lock."
If both users "admin1" and "admin2" are in the "Administrators" group,
the following scenario (sc1) seems to be reproducible:
    - (sc1-a) start a first browser session and login on the WLS admin-server console using "admin1"
    - (sc1-b) start a second browser session and login on the WLS admin-server console using "admin2"
    - (sc1-c) in the second browser session, click Deployments
    - (sc1-d) in the first browser session, click Deployments and see the "Take Lock & Edit" button and messages
-- "admin2 is currently making changes."
-- "Another user (admin2) already owns the lock. You will need to either wait for the lock to be released, or take the lock."
The scenario (sc1) is included in the screencast

It could be that these "locks" are causing our Jenkins jobs (doing an Ant wldeploy task) to fail when someone is "browsing" using the WebLogic Server console, with

The answer to this "(q1) Is the lock message in scenario (sc1) intended behavior?" you already know. Just for good measure see the documentation on managing locks (5 Managing a Domain's Configuration with JMX). Note that in development mode the locking in the admin console is automatic, you can change this in Admin Console - click the preferences link, User Preferences tab, here you can change the 'Automatically Acquire Lock and Activate Changes' option.
WebLogic provides a ConfigurationManagerMBean (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/EditServiceMBean.html?skipReload=true#ConfigurationManager) that provides methods for safely starting an edit session. You can use haveUnactivatedChanges (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/ConfigurationManagerMBean.html?skipReload=true#haveUnactivatedChanges) to check if there are any pending changes (this gives you an indication if someone that has taken a lock is doing some actual changes to the system, such that the ANT job can decide not to start an edit session). If there is an edit session going on and there are no pending changes you can call undoUnactivatedChanges (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/ConfigurationManagerMBean.html?skipReload=true#undoUnactivatedChanges) - now the ANT job can start a new edit session.
The following example shows the use of the ConfigurationManager (in Java with JMX)
                            Object[] unactivatedChanges = (Object[]) editConnection.getAttribute(configManager, "UnactivatedChanges");
                            if (unactivatedChanges.length > 0) {
                                System.out.println("ACTIVATING CHANGES");
                                editConnection.invoke(configManager, "activate",
                                        new Object[] { new Long(120000) }, new String[] { "java.lang.Long" });
                            } else {
                                System.out.println("CANCEL EDIT SESSION");
                                editConnection.invoke(configManager, "cancelEdit", null, null);
More information can be found on using the EditService and ConfigurationManager can be found here: Middleware Snippets: Automatic Scaling an Application Using WebLogic (and the references therein).

  • What if you gift an app to someone who already owns that app?

I'd like to know what happens if you gift an app to someone who happens to already own it. Ideally, iTunes would check, and let you know there's no need to gift that app, and maybe suggest something else.
Anyone know for sure what happens? Otherwise, it kinda ruins it if you always ask people, "Hey, do you own XYZ?" "No, why?" "Just wondering."

Can he convert the gift into store credit?
    No.
Is there an official policy on this?
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#APPS
    "Gifts are not refundable"
If the money is just lost, who can I send a message to in order to voice my concerns?
You can comment to Apple through the iTunes feedback page.
Buying a gift for anyone always carries the risk that they already have it. Not even all stores selling physical goods allow exchanges and returns, and electronic goods almost never are returnable. So if you're thinking of giving an electronic gift, you really need to be confident that they recipient doesn't already have it, or just accept the risk that they will and that your money will be lost. Note that if the gift was in the form of a redemption code not linked specifically to that person's email address, the recipient could pass the gift on to someone else.
    Regards.

  • I already own an iLife DVD (and upgrade), can I download the apps somewhere?

I own a macbook and iLife came with it, in that time, apple was offering a free upgrade (i guess, don't remember), and I got it, so now I have a dvd that came with iphoto 8 and another one that upgrades that iphoto to iphoto 9...
iphoto is now on the app store, and I'd really love to know that I can be worry-free of loosing both my DVDs, since even if I have one of them, I won't be able to have iPhoto's newest upgrade...
Is that possible somehow? can I, like, ask apple for a redeem code, and download it from the app store, or, if I loose my DVDs and have to format my mac, to have iphoto, I'll have to pay for an app that I already own ? (even, like, If I buy a new Macbook Pro, how am I suppose to install iPhoto?)
    just wondering...
    thank you very much!

You'll have to pay to get iPhoto 9 (11) since upgrades must be purchases while updates are free.
Before you try to purchase you should make sure your Mac is compatible with iPhoto 9.4.3 (the version offered by the App Store).  You'll need to be running  OS X 10.7.5 or later - Mac App Store - iPhoto

  • I plan to buy a MacBook Pro with retina display and I already own and use Photoshop CS 5 on my PC?

I plan to buy and use a MacBook Pro with Retina display and I already own and use the PS CS 5 on my PC window-based. How can I obtain a copy of CS 5 for my MacBook Pro?
Message was edited by: CHARNCHAN.  That is without having to buy another copy for the Mac!

Not sure why you'd want CS5 for your new Mac with Retina display.
Retina support was first added to Photoshop in CS6 version 13.0.3
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/2013/01/retina-display-support-and-photoshop-cs6.html
So, assuming you own standalone Photoshop CS5 (and you're running at least Windows 7 on your PC) then your best option - for optimal display on your Mac - might be to subscribe to the Photoshop Photography Program for $9.99/month
    https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom?sdid=KIHZP
Then you'll get Photoshop CC + Lightroom 5 + extras and you can run them both on your Mac and Windows (2 installs permitted regardless of operating system) for the same $9.99 monthly fee.
If you don't want to subscribe then your other option would be to buy a separate CS6 license for Mac (paying full price).
