IFS 1.1.5/Oracle Apache Server/Linux

I have just installed iFS 1.1 for Linux on a new installation of Oracle 8.1.7 on Linux. My apologies in advance if my problem has been addressed in another post on this forum, but I have looked through most of the messages without finding someone with the same problem.
After doing all of the installs and then running "ifsapachesetup" to configure the Oracle HTTP server to access iFS, I encountered all sorts of problems trying to run any servlet or JSP using the Apache server, including the iFS servlet (every servlet access said "Internal Server Error".)
To make a long story short, my configuration seems to work now if I remove "servlet.startup=files" from zone.properties in the Apache JServ configuration directory. In other words, the automatic startup seemed to hose the entire JServ instance. (I got many errors saying "cannot connect to localhost:8007 ..." in jserv.log) I tried many different configurations while manually editing the JServ configuration files, and this one seemed to be the only one in which all of the servlets, including iFS, worked correctly. Does this make any sense?
Also, if I tried to run the iFS servlet/JSPs using the newer Apache Tomcat servlet engine, will there be any problems with that? I'm not talking of whether its supported or not, but is it feasible?
null

I messed around with it as well. First apache complained the jserv parameters could not be set twice (JServ option was already included in httpd.conf, so had to remove the duplicate).
Then I had to remove the / /root Ap directive from the jserv configuration file (known bug with the ifsapachesetup script).
Then I found out the link had to be http://myhost/ifs/files.
Next ajp12 came up saying it could not contact port 8001. I installed JDK 1.1.8 at first, which seems to be a nasty wrapper-sort-of version without the tools.jar (??) which are in the wrapper.classpath.
So I installed JDK 1.3, changed the symbolic link in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/jdk and now everything seems to work.
Latest problem in fact WAS related to jdk 1.1.8 (both v1 and v3 didn't work), and although it might not be supported, it works like a dream, just chokes on my memory resources :)

  • Apache server in oracle

    Hi
I have installed oracle version 9.2 under linux 7.3. Also we are trying to install another apache. Now my problem is that even though i have stopped the oracle apache and try running the apache under root i get an error 'You need to supply a username and a password to access this site. SITE XDB at superO'. I was informed by one of my colleagues that the problem is because of oracle apache. In this case if i have to uninstall oracle apache server, how do i do it and will there be any effect on the oracle installed, or i have to deinstall oracle and reinstall again.
    Thanks

as far as de-installing Apache server installed along with Oracle is concerned, you need to run the
Oracle installer again (runInstaller script), and select de-install products from the main screen.
from there select the apache server entries and remove them.
But havaing Oracle Apache should not hava any effect since the configuration files for the two installations
    should be at different locations.
You need to check the httpd.conf script for the apache web server and make sure that you have anonymous
access to the web server enabled.

  • How to create URL in Oracle Application Server ?

    Hello,
I would like to know how to create a URL in Oracle Application server (LINUX) so that our application can be invoked from each and every machine in our
local hosting.I expect a quick reply.

You question is not so clear. Basically, after installing infrastructure and middle-tier instances, you can simple run http://localhost:port/appication from any web browser.
If not, what is your requirements?

  • What do I need for Oracle Http Server with mod_plsql on Linux 64bit?

I am trying to get the OHS onto a linux box but I am not quite sure I am installing the correct thing!!
I currently have a windows box running the 10g Application server but everything seems to have changed since then and there seems to be several different things to do with the Fusion Middleware and stuff. I've tried to find an overview in plain english of what all these things are but all I can find are lots of marketing buzzwords!
All in need to to be able to run the OHS with the mod_plsql so I can run my apex application. I'd be greatfull if someone could point me in the right direction for what I need to install!
The box it is going on is a CentOS Linux 64bit machine. I've download and installed Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Rel 1 (10.3.3) using the generic installer for the 64 bit java but there seems to be no http server despite it saying there is! Most likely I am doing something wrong but the installer finishes successfully but nothing is running on port 7001.
Do I actually need the WebTier instead? Is that the best solution for running the OHS with mod_plsql? Do I need the WebLogic install as well? Unfortunately I am fairly new to Linux as well which isn't helping!!
    thanks for any help
    Robert

    Well, you have two options:
    - Use the OHS from the OFM WebTier Utilities distro. (To use 11.1.1.3 version, you need both the 11.1.1.2 and 11.1.1.3 distros)
    - Use the OHS from the DB Companion Disk distro.
WebLogic Server is a Java EE application with an HTTP server included, but not intended to be used as a replacement of OHS/Apache. It doesn't support mod's...

  • How to start Oracle Application Server 10g on Linux

    Hi,
I have installed the Oracle Appliacion server and Infrastructure server on Linux. Both I have installed under with Diff. folder
Can some one please tell me how to start / stop Appliacion server and Infrastructure server on Linux
We are going to use the these with Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2 .

You can do as rizla said or go another route.
We setup profiles to use for all of the oracle homes. Then in the scripts we call the profiles. Easier to migrate and manage in my opinion if you have multiple oracle homes. You can then use profiles when ssh'd into the boxes, too. Both ways will work.
    Example:
    Script which you can chkconfig.
    #!/bin/sh
    # oracle_collabInfra
    # This shell script takes care of starting and stopping Oracle Collab Infra instance.

  • Oracle 9i on LINUX Transparent Gateway for SQL Server

Does anybody know if there is a Transparent Gateway available for Oracle 9i on LINUX to connect to SQL Server? I have run the installer and cannot seem to find the install options for any Transparent Gateways. I am familiar with their location in the universal installer as I have installed the Oracle/SQL Server Transparent Gateway with Oracle in WinNT. Perhaps Transparent Gateways for Oracle/LINUX are not available?

  • Oracle VM Server 2.2 Linux Guest cannot ntp to server properly

    Hi All,
I have installed a VM guest Oracle Linux Enterprise 5U6 in Oracle VM server 2.2. I follow below procedure to config NTP in VM server.
    https://blogs.oracle.com/virtualization/entry/configuring_ntp_services_for_oracle

  • Configuring Apache HTTP Server with Oracle Weblogic Server plugin

    Hello friends,
I have a scenario of OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle Application Server 11g and Weblogic Server Apache HTTP Server.
Oracle WebLogic Server is configured in cluster (node1 and node2), also use the Oracle Weblogic Server plugin for integration with Apache.
One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead.
When the mode is node1 and node2 stop start mode and try to access the management console of Oracle Identity Manager, the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node, and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel.
Deputy of the Apache HTTP Server log, do you expect your comments to solve this case?

"One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead."
Note that the plug-in does a round robin load balancing, for example, in the case of three server (1,2,3) it does 1-2-3-1-2-3-1...
with server 3 going down it does 1-2-1-2-1...
An example configuration (with SSL off) looks as follows:
    LoadModule weblogic_module   "/home/oracle/weblogic12.1.1/apache/modules/mod_wl.so"
    <IfModule weblogic_module>

"the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node"
This is somewhat strange, do you have session binding turned off?
"and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel."
This could happen due to mime types (not really sure just a hunch). Here is a general story on this concept: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Properly_Configuring_Server_MIME_Types
    and the apache module: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_mime.html

  • Can I change from Embedded PL/SQL Gateway to Oracle HTTP Server/Apache?

    Hi everyone
Can I change a running installation of Oracle 10.2.0 Application Express 3.2.1.00.10 to move away from the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway on to the Oracle HTTP Apache server? I'd like the change to be as transparent as possible to avoid an outage if I can. Do I need to reinstall everything and just import a backup or is there a way to switch between the http servers? I couldn't find anything on "switching" in the User's guide, so I was hoping one of you may have successfully tried this.
    Many thanks for your help!
    m.

It should be straight forward with a very small downtime. Test on dev system before interrupting the prod system.
    1. Install OHS
    2. Configure OHS
    3. Configure the mod_plsql plugin
    4. Stop the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway
Let the users know about the new URL.
All the above steps are documented in the docs.

  • How to install Soap on the (Apache) Oracle HTTP Server

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to install SOAP on the Oracle HTTP Server? I downloaded a soap version (it seems that the standard version comes without SOAP) from the xml.apache.org site and followed the installation instructions as far as I could (only Tomcat is described). However, no 'soaping'!!! Maybe I'm overlooking something because I cannot imagine that it should be difficult.
    Thanks in advance!
    Hans

Hans, the SOAP implementation is part of OC4J. You get it out of the box. Check out how to use the out-of-the-box implementation in the tutorials on Web services with Oracle9i JDeveloper at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/series/content.html
These tutorials/samples use the implementation of SOAP/WSDL that Oracle calls J2EE Web Services and this is the long term direction of Oracle's Web services implementation. This implementation is what Oracle will be evolving to Sun's Java Web Services Developer Pack as it finalizes into J2EE 1.4.
If you want to use Oracle/Apache SOAP, this too is included in OC4J but its support is being deprecated in future releases of Oracle9iAS in favour of the J2EE Web Services implementation. To find it, check out the OC4J/soap/webapps/ directory for the soap.ear file (it is in a slightly different spot if you are using the full Oracle9iAS R2 but still within the soap directory structure. Simply add <application name="soap" path="../../../soap/webapps/soap.ear" auto-start="true"/> to your OC4J server.xml and <web-app application="soap" name="soap" root="/soap" /> to your OC4J http-web-site.xml, re-start and away you go.
Finally, just to be sure, SOAP support in Oracle9iAS did not appear until 1.0.2.2.x and higher. If using 1.0.2.1 or less, you are correct, there is no SOAP support.
    Mike.
Most folks that try out the J2EE Web Services find it is pretty easy to use so
