IIOP provider
Hello,
I have a following problem: I have an application which is downloaded to client through .jnlp. This application use IIOP, and I want it to run on j2ee WAS engine.
So I use port 50102 and intial context factory
com.sap.engine.services.jndi.CosNamingInitialContextFactoryImpl"/>
And when I start IIOP provider in Visual Administrator, and than scan for my port activity, it seems that port 50102 is inactive, and application give error
com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NamingException: Exception while trying to get InitialContext.
Note: system number = 01
If anyone know what I'm doing wrong please post me.
Thanks
Miroslav Koskar
Yes I tried it. It didn't work.
In Visual Administrator the IIOP provider is started but when I scan port actvity, the port on which it should listen is inactive.
If you have any idea please post.
Best Regards,
Miroslav Koskar

Hi all...
I am now trying a program with RMI over IIOP. My server is behined a firewall and proxy and client will be running out side the network. So in this situation I want to allow this particular client through the proxy. I am not sure whether the Proxies like ISA, MS Proxy, Wingate, iPlanet and Apache proxy will allow IIOP protocol to route through the proxy. Also How can I ensure security? Does IIOP provides any security?
Please help me by giving some comments on this.
Any suggestions are appreciable.
regards,
SankaranLike in all normal RMI apps you will need open the firewall ports needed to communicate to the server on the firewall..

Read Time Out Exception while generating PDF Document
Hi,
We are working on Netweaver 04,Patch SP 16 and trying to generate a Non Interactive PDF on ADS Version SP 14 for printing purpose (Eg.Invoice). This extracts data using EJBs. We used Interactive Form UI element which has various sub elements like static image, etc.
We are using Acrobat Reader 7.0 for generating PDF.
The form fetches the records and prints perfectly in the Development System, While creates a 'java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed
out ' Exception in Production.
Time Out period for web service container is set to 180 sec in both Dev and Prod.
Default trace in the production is continously throwing following error."com.adobe.document.XMLFormService#com.adobe/AdobeDocumentServices#com.adobe.document.XMLFormService
Thread[XMLForm.exe Error Reader,5,SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]
_Group]##0#0#Error##Plain###Service XMLFormService: Native process
(PID=0) /usr/sap/NWP/JC00/j2ee/os_libs/adssap/XMLFormService/bin/XMLForm.exe terminated abnormally with error code 127# "
We are running following services in both Prod and Dev for using ADS.
1. IIOP Provider
2. Data Manager Service
3. Data Font Manager Service
4. XML Module
5. Document Services Configuration
6. Document Services License Support Service
Could some one please let us know what could be the problem?
Thanks And Regards,
Apeksha.Hi Markus,
Thanks for the prompt reply. However, SAP notes 867502
and 811342 speak about PDF manipulation services, which we are not using in our application. We need to create non interactive form which simply reads the data from the DB and displays it to the users for printing.
The other 2 notes-826419 and 849851 talk about SP 10,11 and 12, while we are using SP14 for Adobe Services and SP 16 for Netweaver Java Stack.
The application works perfectly on the Development Server, but not on Production Server. Though all the configurations are same on both the servers, still can you suggest what all things need to be considered ?
Thanks and Regards,

Trying to register Adobe credential file...
Hello All -
I am receiving the following error in the Visual Admin:
error occured while indexing credential fles:
com.adobe.service.sap.configuration.ConfigurationException:An error occurred while indexing credential files.
In the default.trc file, I see:
com.adobe.service.sap.configuration.ConfigurationException: An error occurred while indexing the credential files:
at com.adobe.service.sap.configuration.ConfigurationService.listCredentials(Unknown Source)
at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl3.SingleThread.run(SingleThread.java:170)
Caused by: com.adobe.service.sap.configuration.ConfigurationException: An error occurred while locating the document services trust manager base directory:
at com.adobe.service.sap.configuration.ConfigurationService.getTrustDir(Unknown Source)
Is there a way to set/correct the setting for the "document services trust manager base directory"?
Also, I have looked at SAP Note 900945. This error states that the error only occurs in a clustered environment. But I have only one server.
Also, I did copy the pfx file to usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\AdobeDocumentServices\TrustManagerService\trust\credentials.
Any ideas?
Update:
I saw on a another forum post to make sure that the IIOP service is started on the dispatcher and server.
My dispatcher's IIOP service is not running, and when I start it I get an error.
The log file for VA shows:

Ha, you are pretty funny!
I would be happy to award you full points - if you can help me.
Maybe you could provide more detail about "have you selected adobe .jar file in configuration tab"? Is that in Vis Admin or ConfigTool? Where in whatever tool?
And what is that supposed to do to fix my problem (or diagnose it further)?
The line you told me to add in the "General" tab - what was that supposed to do or fix?
I still cannot start the IIOP service in the dispatcher.
Thank you for responding. -

I also tried it with very simple examples like http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/1a/ff773f12f14a18e10000000a114084/frameset.htm , but i still had no luck. On the other hand some simple example with usePdf-mode and a given PDF-source works fine.
Tried enviroments:
- NW 7.0 SP 13 server - NWDS 7.0 SP 9 / Adobe Designer 6.0
- NW 7.0 SP 15 server - NWDS 7.0 SP 9 / Adobe Designer 6.0
- NW 7.0 SP 15 server - NWDS 7.0 SP 13
I thougth it might have something to do with the older versions of the NWDS. But then again i get the same error on various combinations of the enviroment.I did some more investigations. Probably is the problem, that the IIOP-Service is not running in the dispatcher. I'm getting an exception when i try to start it:

Thanks

Could you please let us know the solution to this problem at the
earliest as we are in the midst of the development.
Thanks in advance
ApekshaHi,
Thanks for the reply. I worked recreated the application by simple reinserting the interactive UI element and binding its dataSource context with a node whose values i need to display in the pdf format and pdfsource bound to attibute of type binary. However, when i deploy, i get the following exception:
Processing HTTP request to servlet [dispatcher] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Error during call to AdobeDocumentServer: Failed to create a Data Manager. Please ensure that the Document Services Data Manager service is running:

However, the Document Services Data Manager service is already running along with IIOP provider. Are there some other things that need to be taken care of?
Thanks in Advance

Hi all.
we are using ADS on j2ee.
when trying russian purchase ledger in pdf we have error

we want to change the value of MaxSizeRequest parameter (it is avaliable with SP09) but we don't see it in Vusial Administrator. Also we can't change it via telnet.
What we can do? And why we have such a size of request (it's ~20 pages)?Hello Konstantin.
You can set this parameter in VA -> Dispatcher -> Services -> IIOP Provider. After that you must restart IIOP Provider service for Dispatcher and Server in VA.

Trying to start the j2ee to be the JMS provider but why error
Anyone knows why I can't start the j2ee ..which I hope to use it as the JMS provider. I am trying to try the e.g. from JMS tutorial....
But it seems that I can't start the j2ee in the first place 'cos error say that I have another instance running...(but I didn't start anything in the first place). How should I solve this?
How could I stop the j2ee server....I tried the command
j2ee -stop but cannot..
Anyone can help?

Issue with running pages through jDev, wls starts but no target url is provided.
Hi all,
I recently downloaded an older version of jDev for a new assignment - Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0 - Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0CLOUD_GENERIC_121118.1600.6229.
I created a basic wls domain and I've tried running simple jspx pages, at which point a weblogic appears to have started without issue. However, my page never runs and no target domain is provided. Below is how my log appears and it just seems to hang. I'm my experience a window always popped up in my default browser with the domain and it is also shown in the log. Going to my expected default domain (http://127.0.0.1:7101/Home.jspx for example) results in a 404. I sure its something stupid, but I'm not sure how to address this issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Does OC4J support RMI/IIOP connections ?
Hi,
I have only one question :
Does OC4J support IIOP connections ?
I'd like to connect as EJB client to OLAPService on Oracle9i server (CORBA object), but I can't.
Thanks in advanceThanks for your timely post Debu.
I would like to state that I read and followed the guides (same files as those ponted by the links you just provided) and tried this:
1. Sample J2EE Application using ORMI in OC4J Standalone (this works ok)
2. Same but now using ORMIS (this also works fine)
3. Tried same J2EE App using IIOP; took these steps:
3.1 commented out the rmi.xml security lines,
3.2 enabled ports in internal-settings.xml,
3.3 changed the jndi.properties - now using corbaname URL,
3.4 enabled the IIOP stub generation in the JVM settings at oc4j startup, and finally
3.5 deployed the EAR using the generateIIOP flag.
The result: the exception I posted above
4. Tried with IIOP/SSL, did these steps:
4.1 configured the keystore settings in both internal-settings.xml and ejb_sec.properties
4.2 and added <ior-security-config> config elements to orion-ejb-jar.xml.
The exception here is a little bit different:

NamingException: Cannot connect to ORB -
XI to IBM Websphere Default JMS Provider with JNDI
Hello everybody!
We face a problem with connecting SAP XI to IBM WebSphere Default JMS Provider (need to send a message from XI to WebSphere JMS and receive the response).
We have the following versions installed:
SAP XI: 7.0 SP8 , Sun JDK 1.4.2
IBM WebSphere: IBM WebSphere Application Server ND, 6.0.2.17, J2RE 1.4.2 IBM
We cannot set the JMS adapter of SAP XI for conecting with IBM WebSphere Default JMS Provider. The Communication Channel has erroneous state (at runtime) and the Communication Channel Monitoring tool displays the error message as described below (under "Variant 1" and "Variant 2" sub-headings) depending on the settings performed.
For connecting, the following JMS-provider settings were used at IBM WebSphere side:
JMS Providers: Default Messaging Provider
Queue Connection Factories: name:QueueConnectionFactory, jndi:jms/QueueConnectionFactory, provider: Default Messaging Provider
Queues: name Queue, jndi: jms/Queue, provider: Default Messaging Provider
The XI communication channel (and associated JMS-adapter) was set as Variants 1 and 2 show. Settings for both cases and received error messages were the following:
<b>Variant 1.</b>
Adapter type: JMS
Type: Receiver
JMS Provider: Access JMS Provider with JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface)
JNDI Lookup Name of QueueConnectionFactory: jms/QueueConnectionFactory
JNDI Lookup Name of JMS Queue: jms/Queue
Name of JNDI Initial Context Factory: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.InitialContextFactoryImpl
JNDI Server Address: iiop://WEBSPHERE.HOST:2809/
As the result, the Communication Channel Monitoring displays that the channel has erroneous state and the following error message is written:
"Error during channel initialization; exception trace: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Object not found in lookup of jms/QueueConnectionFactory.
at com.sap.engine.services.jndi.implserver.ServerContextImpl.lookup(ServerContextImpl.java:649)"
<b>Variant 2</b>
The same settings as in Variant 1 above, were used and additionally the following settings were done:
- Name of JNDI Initial Context Factory: com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory
- The archive aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda containing libraries required by WsInitialContextFactory, was deployed to the SAP WebAS where the XI is running. Those libraries were taken from WebSphere Application Server Pluggable Application Client installation package (described in the article "WebSphere Application Server Pluggable Application Client" located at http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0409_bhogal/0409_bhogal.html)
- Also, as it is recommended in the referred article, the files required by IBM's iiop protocol (ibmext.jar ibmorb.jar ibmorbapi.jar) were put to the folder jre/lib/endorsed of the server(Sun JVM 1.4.2 is used by SAP WebAS / XI).
As the result, the Communication Channel Monitoring displays that the channel has erroneous state as well and the following error message is written:
"No adapter registered for this channel"
We have not found the recommended solution either in SDN forums or in Internet in general. Is it yet possible to connect SAP XI to IBM WebSphere Default JMS Provider having mentioned product versioning? If yes, what settings have to be performed?IBM Websphere Default JMS Provider which is installed alongwith the application server is nothing but a scaled down version of the IBM WebSphere MQSeries. you should be able to connect to it with the same settings that can be used for a separate MQSeries server connectivity from XI.

I got the rmi-iiop example code to work just fine, but I tried extending
it a little and strangeness ensues. Here's what I did:
I'm using a stock weblogic 6.0 install on solaris 8 (sparc). I added
the following new method to the Trader interface:
public void func(javax.naming.Name n) throws RemoteException;
and I added the implementation of that method to TraderBean like so:
public void func(javax.naming.Name n) {
System.out.prinltn("n [" + n + "]");
I then added a call to the new Trader function to the end of the
example() method in Client, just before the trader is removed:
try {
com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapName lname =
new com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapName("a=b");
trader.func(lname);
} catch (javax.naming.NamingException ne) {
ne.printStackTrace();
Then I compiled everything using the supplied build.sh, copied the
ejb_over_iiop.jar into config/mydomain/applications, and ran
startWebLogic.sh int the config/mydomain directory to start the server.
I then run the client like so (using the 1.3 java version included with
weblogic 6.0):
java -cp
/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/config/examples/clientclasses:/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/config/mydomain/applications:/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/lib/weblogic.jar
examples.rmi_iiop.ejb.rmi_iiop.Client iiop://localhost:7001
And I get the following output:
Beginning statelessSession.Client...
Creating a trader
Buying 100 shares of BEAS.
Buying 200 shares of MSFT.
Buying 300 shares of AMZN.
Buying 400 shares of HWP.
Selling 100 shares of BEAS.
Selling 200 shares of MSFT.
Selling 300 shares of AMZN.
Selling 400 shares of HWP.
There was an exception while creating and using the Trader.
This indicates that there was a problem communicating with the server:
java.rmi.RemoteException: CORBA UNKNOWN 0 No; nested exception is:
org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN: minor code: 0 completed: No
End statelessSession.Client...
Basically the call to the new method fails, and the server communication
error it produces doesn't provide much information. So question #1 is,
what's going on here?
And here's the really weird part: if I change the method signatures in
Trader and TraderBean so that the argument type is the concrete class
com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapName instead of the interface javax.naming.Name
(which does extend java.io.Serializable, incidentally), it works fine!
I tried this with my own interfaces and concrete classes, and I get the
same strange behavior: calling methods with interface argument types on
the ejb via rmi-iiop fails with the above cryptic error, but methods
with concrete argument types work fine.
I also tried this out on a non-ejb rmi-iiop server object using jdk 1.3
but not weblogic. In that case both interfaces and concrete method
argument types work just fine.
Now I'm wondering if this could be a bug in weblogic.ejbc's iiop
generation. Can anyone else verify this problem?

/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/config/examples/clientclasses:/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/config/mydomain/applications:/opt/bea/wlserver6.0/lib/weblogic.jar
examples.rmi_iiop.ejb.rmi_iiop.Client iiop://localhost:7001
And I get the following output:
Beginning statelessSession.Client...
Creating a trader
Buying 100 shares of BEAS.
Buying 200 shares of MSFT.
Buying 300 shares of AMZN.
Buying 400 shares of HWP.
Selling 100 shares of BEAS.
Selling 200 shares of MSFT.
Selling 300 shares of AMZN.
Selling 400 shares of HWP.
There was an exception while creating and using the Trader.
This indicates that there was a problem communicating with the server:
java.rmi.RemoteException: CORBA UNKNOWN 0 No; nested exception is:
org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN: minor code: 0 completed: No
End statelessSession.Client...
Basically the call to the new method fails, and the server communication
error it produces doesn't provide much information. So question #1 is,
what's going on here?
Marshaling through the interface apparently fails. What orb are you using on the client?

And here's the really weird part: if I change the method signatures in
Trader and TraderBean so that the argument type is the concrete class
com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapName instead of the interface javax.naming.Name
(which does extend java.io.Serializable, incidentally), it works fine!It appears that marshaling an interface (or abstract class) fails, but marshaling a concrete class succeeds.

Now I'm wondering if this could be a bug in weblogic.ejbc's iiop
generation. Can anyone else verify this problem?I'll look into this.

RMI-IIOP Example for Java SE 6
Hi.
Can someone provide me an example (link or code) of how to write an RMI-IIOP remote object, bind it to jndi (glassfish) and then call it from within the glassfish application server (I'm calling from an EJB).
The guide available at http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/rmi-iiop/tutorial.html is unfortunately not helpful because it the code there does not work when binding the remote object in glassfish JNDI (using empty InitialContext constructor) as opposed to the orbd daemon that is described in the guide.
Am I not allowed to bind RMI-IIOP objects in glassfish application server JNDI, i.e. do I have to use orbd?
Do you have to generate stubs for the remote objects in Java SE6? The tutorial says to do it but the exception I get on glassfish application server is not from the _<interface-name>Stub.java but rather from <interface-name>_DynamicStub.java.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Are you trying to create an RMI-IIOP server inside an
Application Server (Glassfish)?I'm not really sure about how it all works but I don't think so. I am exporting my Remote objects (using PortableRemoteObject) from a standalone Java SE client app. Relating this to normal RMI I had assumed that this automatically started an RMI-IIOP server on an anonomous port, although I now see that the javadoc says that the export method only "Makes a server object ready to receive remote calls.", whatever that means. So if calling the export method doesn't start an RMI-IIOP server then I'm guessing I would have to start one, and then yes, if possible, I would like to do it in glassfish and avoid starting up more applications.
I am guessing I am missing something fundamental here..
The tutorial uses the JNDI Registry (tnameserv). (and
it works fine)Is that what is automatically started when glassfish application server is started?
Have you looked into using a Portable Object Adapter? No, I have not. I want to keep it as simple and close to regular RMI though, so if possible I would like to avoid POA. -
How to get InitialContextFactory using RMI/IIOP without using weblogic.jar
Hi Robert
I know this is an old post. but I am interested in knowing how to get the
initial context using RMI/IIOP without the use weblogic specific classes
like weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory . If you have a code snippet that
you can provide as an example, it would be just great.
thanx in advance

This works fine when I include weblogic.jar (and other dependend weblogic
jar's) in the classpath.
Is there a way to access WL JNDI from a client without the weblogicclasses
in the classpath? If you are using WLS 6.1, you could use RMI/IIOP to do this but in general,
the
answer is no, you will need at least some of the weblogic classes on the
client.
If not, is there a lightweight jar available for distribution for client
JNDI connectivity? This is something in the works. In addition, a colleague and I are working
on
a white paper that describes the "Thin Client Options with WebLogic Server"
that we hope to make available in the not too distant future...
Are there any licencing issues with distributing the weblogic classes to
clients that need to access WL JNDI?No. WLS is licensed by the server so you are free to distribute
weblogic.jar
to your clients.
Hope this helps,
