ILife apps on the Mac App store in Yosemite transition

I have recently updated to Yosemite and I am now looking to install GarageBand and it comes up at £2.99
I think this is because I never installed it originally on Mavericks
Using 2013 Retina MBP
The iPhoto app comes up at regular Install button.
Any ideas on how to fix this. I think it would install ok if I restored to Mavericks but would not do so for just 1 app.

Re-download from your Purchases page in the App Store.

  • Can't upgrade a legacy version of iLife '11 from the Mac App Store.

I have bought, a few years back, a legacy version of iLife '11 on DVD. I have heard that Apple is offering a free upgrade to their new iLife suite but when I accessed the Mac App Store, I can't upgrade to the new version. I currently have not made the move to Mavericks and I am still on Mountain Lion on a late 2009 iMac. Have I heard wrong and I am not allowed to a free upgrade or is there something I need to do to upgrade iLife?

You need to upgrade to OS X Mavericks first, as the most recent iLife versions are only compatible with OS X Mavericks.
After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, you will be prompted to update the iLife applications in the Mac App Store, and it will ask you for your Apple ID to register the applications to your Apple ID, so you can get them free of charge

  • Problems with the mac app store login/ yosemite installer download

I am trying to download the yosemite installer from the mac app store, but can't seem to log in. I receive no error message. What could be causing these issues? I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.

Based on the numerous posts regarding iTunes and the App Store, there appears to be an issue at Apple's end. Although Apple has not provided any indication on the cloud status page.
    Do not change your settings.

  • What is relationship between Mac app store and Yosemite?

I have decided to update from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I have a cryptic little message from Apple saying I need to download the Mac App Store first. But when I click on that link I get something called Yosemite. Is that the same thing as the app store? Do I have to get it? Do I want it? Thanks for any advice and help.

The topmost part of the opening page at the Mac App store is filled with a HUGE Ad for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, the current version of Mac OS X.
You can use the Icons across the top of the Mac App Store screen to navigate around the site and see if what you want is available.
EDIT: It turns out Mountain Lion is no longer available for DIRECT download. To buy it, you will need to buy a redemption code at the Apple Online Store (NOT the Mac App Store) for US$20. This coupon will be sent to you by email, typically in 1 to 3 days, but requires human intervention to send it, so nights, weekends, and holidays do not count.
You will receive the coupon code and instructions by email. You then follow the instructions to redeem your coupon at the Mac App Store and download Mountain Lion. If you wish to proceed on these terms, this is the purchase link:

  • Can't open App Store after Yosemite download.

This is the first time I have had any problems with upgrading versions. Particularly frustrated with not being able to get into the App Store right now. Icon on dock won't work. Tried through launch pad and Apple website as well. Nothing opens it. Any one have an idea on how to get there? Is there another way I'm missing?

Finally! I got everything working. Re-booted my Mac in Recovery mode, and re-installed Yosemite. Sat here through the entire process (which I didn't do before), and bam, everything now works. Shut down your computer and re-open it holding both the command and R keys down Until the recovery box pops up. Worked for me anyhow.

  • How to remove updates from app store in yosemite

I'm using iWork '09 installed on Yosemite and i receive the alert to update to the new version Keynote, Pages and Number.
Apparently there is no way to remove/dismiss the update's reminder forever or just delete the update request in the App Store list.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

YYou know, I just was looking for an answer from a person with knowledge but instead I got nothing. I just wanted an answer, how do I remove an update from the App Store that I don't wish to install, that's all. I wasn't expected these responses, thanks anyway,, I'm going to try no to ask again within the community, I'll go instead to the web, I might get an straight answer.. Please no response again, I'll try to delete this question.
I have given you an answer twice: you can't do that. The only way to remove an app from the list of updates in the App Store is to accept the update.

  • Unable to open App Store after Yosemite update

I can't open my App Store after the update, the icon either bounces for a really long time or it manages to open, but nothing is loaded or interactive.
    Help!!

If the above does not resolve your problem:
    -You can reinstall the Yosemite
-You can wait and see if the next 10.10.1 update sorts your dilemma and run your updates manually via Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app
    software update via terminal:
To list the available software updates, use the following command.
    sudo softwareupdate -l
All available software updates can be installed with the following command:
    sudo softwareupdate -i -a
Install specific updates from those listed with the following:
    sudo softwareupdate -i PackageName

  • ILife 11 from Mac App Store on a new Macbook Pro

Hello, 2 months ago I bought a refurbished Macbook Pro early 2011 which came with Lion and iLife 11 pre-installed. I was supposed to accept my iLife bundle in the Mac App Store which I tried to do with the Apple ID with which I had registered my Macbook. But it did not complete and exited with an error which I dont remember. I didnt pay any attention to it at that time and forgot about it. But now I need to use iPhoto's iCloud functionality with my iPad but I cant because iPhoto would not update. When I click on Update in the Mac App Store it says that sign in with account with which you used to purchase it. I dont know what is happening because I have tried to use both the Apple IDs I have ever used on my Macbook but all to no avail. I even tried to update by downloading the update from Apple Support but it said that your version of iLife should be updated from the Mac App Store. What should I do? I need the iPhoto's iCloud functionality. In the future I would not be able any iLife software on my Mac.
P.S: I used my brother's Apple ID to buy this Mac at the Apple Online Store since I used his credit card and paid him in cash, but used my own ID to register this Mac. Do I need his ID for updating iLife?

  • I want to download the recent Adobe app but it said I had to do it through the Mac app store

I have a rebuilt hard drive for my MacBookPro that recently crashed. Today Adobe wanted me to download a new version. The initial download went well but when I attempted to finalize the download a popup told me I would have to do it through the Mac Apple Store. How do I do this?

Exactly which one of the many Adobe products are you talking about here?

  • How do I upgrade from iWeb 2.0.4 to iWeb 3?  I don't see it on the app store.

I've looked everywhere -- how do I go from iWeb '08 to a newer version?

It is now apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, is no longer supported by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
All of these issues can be solved with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • Mac App Store Doesn't Recognize Apps

I have a Macbook Pro which is almost three years old.  Applications like iLife and iWorks were installed on the computer long before there was the Mac Ap Store.  These apps, and others on my computer, do not show up as Instaled in the App Store so I can't update them unless I use the old Software Update or the vendor's site.  I don't want to purchase the apps again but is there any way to "register" these apps so the app store knows they are on my computer?
    Thanks,
    David

I have iLife 11 that I purchased on disk that is installed, but the App store doesn't recognize any of the iLife apps as being installed.
Everytime I run GarageBand it states there is a new version, but then Software Update says everything is up to date once it is run.
I have GarageBand 6.0 (427.17) at the moment, and the newest right now is 6.0.5
I haven't been able to update it.
    Any thoughts on this issue?

  • Is it true that After March 30, 2015, AOL will no longer support your ability to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store or did I just receive a phishing email?

I just received the following email.....Is this legit? Makes no sense.
    Dear iTunes Customer,
Our records indicate that you have been using your AOL Username to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store.
After March 30, 2015, AOL will no longer support your ability to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. In order to continue using store features, including the ability to access your previously purchased content, you must transition from signing in with your AOL Username to signing in with an Apple ID.
To make this transition, simply sign in once more with your AOL Username to iTunes on your Mac or PC. You will automatically be taken through a few short steps to complete the process.
When the process is complete, your new Apple ID will allow you to continue to purchase and download music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, and more. Additionally, your Apple ID will allow you to access other Apple services, such as iCloud and the Apple Online Store.
This transition does not affect any AOL services you may be using with your AOL Username.
AOL Usernames which have not been transitioned to Apple ID will permanently lose access to the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store after March 30, 2015. Apple will be unable to provide support for AOL Usernames which are not transitioned by this date.
To learn more about this transition, visit support.apple.com/kb/HT204268.
    Regards,
    The iTunes Store team

The link that appears in the copy in the OP does not go to an Apple site, it is something to the effect of newitunes.com, whereas the text tells you it is an Apple support document.
However, if you take the text of the support document listed, I put it in my browser and it does lead to a legit Apple Support document about coverting. Convert your AOL Username to an Apple ID - Apple Support  Seems this needs to be done by March 31, 2015, as AOL will no longer allow users to use their AOL identification.

  • Getting Error Code 13 with Mac App Store on OS X Lion

    Hey all,
I just updated my Macbook to Mac OS X Lion. Now whenever I go into Mac App Store, I can log into my Apple ID but cannot redownload any of my previous purchases.
I continue to get the error 13 for any of my downloads. I've tried rebooting my Mac, logging out and back into my Apple ID on the Mac App Store.
    Nothing works. Any idea?

    I figured it out.
I signed up for another Apple ID account within the Mac Apple Store. After completing the validation, I logged into the new account then logged out.
Closed down the Mac App Store and relaunched it. Then I logged in using my original Apple ID with all my purchases linked to it.
I'm now available to download items fine without error. I hope this helps others with the same issue.

  • Mac app store qn

i just bought the Angry Birds S4.99 app on my iPad.
Can i re-use the same account and buy the same app on the Mac App store ?
    Will i still be billed US$4.99 ?
    Thanks.

    Hi and welcome...
    You will be billed twice.
When you purchase the AB app for your iPad, you're purchasing the app for a device run on the iOS operating system.
When you buy the same app from the Mac Apple Store, you will be using that app on your Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.6.
Two different operating systems, two different billings.
But you can install the same app on multiple Macs and iOS devices such as iPads without being re billed.
