When I move the project to another machine I can create all the new Entities I want, and everything is fine. When I move the project back, it just repeats the exception when I try to make a new Entity Bean.

I don't know for the Exception, but the wizard not showing up might be related to your regional settings in Windows.
If you are using norwegian locale, the wizards don't work in jDev 9031 due to a bug.

It might some plug-in are corrupted or missing.

No option to create new workspace in JDeveloper; turning BPEL Designer "on"

I'm trying to do some BPEL work on Linux, using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.
A couple of issues:
1) although the BPEL Designer shows up as a component in the "About", and BPEL Process Modeler shows up as a loaded extension in the same place, BPEL Process Project is a grayed-out option in New Projects. This may simply be due to the fact that BPEL Designer apparently needs to be turned "on", and I've yet to figure out how to do that on Linux (since the documentation is mostly for Windows).
So if this problem is solved by turning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer "on", I sure wouldn't mind knowing how to do it on Linux. It's easy enough to start the BPEL Process Manager - I have that running right now - but I see no shell script anywhere in the SOA Suite installation that remotely looks like it might start BPEL Designer.
2) Many of the tutorials say that one should create a workspace in JDeveloper. According to them this is available as an option under File > New. Well, in Linux JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4 it's not available at all. It doesn't even exist as a disabled option. I find this curious, and somewhat disturbing.
Any ideas as to why something so central doesn't show up?

OK, good to know, John. Eventually a person figures it out one way or the other. I realize all of this stuff exists in documentation someplace, but there's only so many hours in the day. And if you're using JDeveloper 10.1.3, with JDeveloper 11 already available, you don't necessarily expect a lot of the articles you run across to be so old that they still refer to workspaces. I'm not saying that these are necessarily Oracle articles.
As an aside I've found Oracle documentation to be pretty good. I use Oracle software on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. For ESB and BPEL on Linux the main problem with the docs is that they are incomplete. It's disconcerting to see continual references to having to turn BPEL Designer on, in Windows, and have no instructions concerning that for Linux, as one example. As it happens, doing a "startall" for opmnctl does everything I need, so if there's a separate BPEL Designer started up by that (as opposed to the BPEL Process Manager) I guess that's where it gets fired up. That may also be covered in documentation someplace, for Linux, but I haven't found it.

This version of the Creator allows you to build applications which access existing EJB's, but doesn't create new EJB's from scratch. We are looking into that for future releases.

Right-click Model project and select New -> General -> Deployment Descriptors -> Java EE Deployment Descriptor and click OK, on the next screen you can choose ejb-jar.xml.

Problem in Creating new Essbase Connection in JDeveloper

I have formatted my machine and installed new JDeveloper in my machine.
I am trying to create New Essbase Connection in my JDeveloper..I am giving all the server details and I can able to test the connection and the connection test will be success. After Testing I am creating the Connection, the new connection window is getting closed but the connection is not creating/ not visible under Application Resources -> Connections.
When I try to run my old application..the old connection was working fine..I have issue in creating connection for new Applications.
Could any one of you let me know how to resolve this problem.

CMP Beans from Tables: Why does the Container try to create new tables?

I'm trying to develop an EJB application using JDeveloper on 9iAS. I have several CMPs and have my tables that I want my CMPs to be based on already defined in my DB schema. I want to use CMP but I don't want the Container to create the tables, rather I want the Container to map my CMP EJBs to the already existing tables.
The issue is:
While creating these CMP EJBs in JDeveloper I chose the "New Enterprise Java Bean" EJB creation wizard using the option labeled "Container-managed Entity Beans from Tables". My assumption is that this does what I want, because the wizard prompts for a schema and table you want to map to. Then it creates the attributes & getter/setter methods, PK class, etc. all based on the table defintion automatically. Great. So why when I try to run my application do I get error messages for each EJB such as:
Auto-creating table: create table STREET_TYPE (PK_STYP_ID NUMBER(8), STREET_TYPE VARCHAR2(20), primary key (PK_STYP_ID, STREET_TYPE))
Warning: Error creating table: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
Huh?? I thought the idea is that the CMP EJB is mapped to the existing table in my schema. Why is the Container trying to create new tables?? Is this possible? Or am I missing something fundamental about how Containers create and manage CMPs? Or is this just a JDevelop container issue? TIA

Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers for J2EE initialized
If so, in the application.xml file of you
OC4J instance the is a setting autocreate-tables,
which by default is true!
Set it to false as below and that should clear up
your problem.

default-data-Hmm. I found at least a dozen or so files with that name and set everyone that had this attriute to "false", restarted the OC4J server and still got these errors.

How to remote debugging EJB in JDeveloper?

Here is the procedure I follow
1. configure weblogic startWebLogic.cmd file according to the instruction and start it
2. create a EJB project contains HelloWorld.java, HelloWorldBean.java, HelloWorldHome.java and Client.java, Bean has one method hello(), just return a String
3. in JDeveloper, configure project properties, set RUN/DEBUG to Remote Debugging as the instruction provided by Oracle
4. Then how should I do next?
select Client.java --> Debug --> attach it to the target weblogic
select HelloWorldxxx.java --> Debug --> attach it to the target weblogic
I tried the above and it attached to weblogic, after that, the program suspend there, nothing happen, no debug message, no outcome...
I have a question, the project have no EJB Descripter, How Client.java test program find EJB interface through JNDI?

Programming EJB with JDeveloper is not as easily as JBuilder4.0.
I am regret that I must give up JDevelopper which I like most.

Unable to create new rows in master detail

I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6, I have two tables customer and contacts, customerId is a foriegnKey in contacts. when customer is deleted all the contacts need to be deleted.
I have created an association (1 to * customer to contacts) between customerEO & contactsEO (checked Composite association, implement cascade delete option), and a view link (1 to * customerVO to contactsVO).
I am testing the viewlink through AM, not using JSF
when i am trying to create new row in details(contacts) table, the customer id is populating in details table.

How to create new SOA project in JDeveloper11.1.2.2.0

I am new to SOA. I have installed JDeveloper11.1.2.2.0 and added soa-jdev-extension.zip extension by Help menu. I went to through some websites , how to develop soa application.

ADF 11g Release 2 is intended primarily for customers who are building stand-alone ADF applications. If your business requirements entail the use of ADF in conjunction with Oracle SOA Suite or Oracle WebCenter, it is recommended to use the latest, fully integrated 11g Release 1 of Oracle Fusion Middleware (currently 11.1.1.6.0 at time of publication), including Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 1.
2) There is no stand-alone installation of the Application Development Runtime component in 11g R2
ADF 11g Release 2 needs to be installed as a patch on top of of an existing 11.1.1.6.0 Application Development Runtime installation. The steps for upgrading 11.1.1.6.0 server to run 11.1.2.0.0 ADF applications is described later in these release notes, and documented in the Administrator's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework.

Creating New Users for RDBMS realm

I am currently creating new users in the RDBMS realm
by an EJB that will insert into the "Users" table. Is this
the correct way to create users or should I be calling
methods on classes in examples.security.RDBMSRealm?

I can able to create multiple users using Import option of the user administration but i have one more question regarding the same.
What about the password setting of these newly created users. Or can the set the password field in test file?? Because when we export the user, it is not showing any Password field.

No ejb-j2ee-engine.xml after new EJB module project

Hi! Can someone please help. Newbie here
I installed SDK 1.4.2_13
I installed Netweaver Developer Studio 7.0.09
When I create a new ejb module project I only see the files
ejb-jar.xml
ejbmodule
I miss the file ejb-j2ee-engine.xml
How is this possible?

I solved the problem by uninstalling SAP Netweaver Developer Studio version 7.0.09 and install version 7.0.08
However, It's still strange why there was no ejb-j2ee-engine.xml when there was created a new EJB project module.

I am not able to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g

I tried to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g and not finding.
3.3.1 How to Create an ESB Project
After you have created an application, create the ESB project that will contain the ESB services using Oracle JDeveloper ESB Designer.
To create an ESB project:
In the Applications Navigator, right-click the application to which you want to add a project and then choose New Project.
The New Gallery opens.
Select ESB Project under General Projects, and then click OK.

Here is what i see in Jdeveloper help.
Comment: Questions on ESB configuration with demo, or specific steps to recreate ESB components of the demo, are described in the SOA Quick Start or Tutorial. ESB info in this guide is more of an overview of the process. This only tells you that the JVM is running out of heap space. It doesn't tell you what is causing the problem. You likely have a memory leak, but you could also try increasing the max heap size of the JVM (-Xmx command line option). It would help to watch the % mem in use statistic, but only immediately after a garbage collection cycle (you can force a GC from the admin console). If the % mem in use after the GC is increasing over time, then that likely confirms you have a memory leak. Note that looking at that statistic during the server startup probably is irrelevant.
