Im trying to pass in a bindable property into a click argument

Im trying to pass in a bindable property into a method like
so:
<mx:Button label="Submit"
click="myService.insertData({selectedItem.staffID})"/>
However since braces {} are not allowed in the method how can
I get round this?

Have you tried removing the braces?

  • PLSQL and XMLTYPE -- Trying to pass cursor record into a XMLTYPE query.

    Hi all --
    I'm trying to pass records from a cursor into a xmltype query, with no success. If i hard code what the cursor record is, it works just fine, but when I use cursor_rec.value, I think it is taking that strin literally. Here is a simple example of what i'm trying to do.
    Brief Background -- I have two tables (OPLAN, OPLAN_SUB_CONT) with an XMLTYPE column. OPLAN contains the bulk/main XML with about 30 elemets, while OPLAN_SUB_CONT contains the xml files which either inserts or updates any of the 30 elements. Instead of hard coding 30 statments to check each element, I created a cursor to cycle through the possible elements. If an element exists i do something , if not i go the next element.
    This returns null, using elements_rec.element_name in the query...
    declare
    cursor cur_get_elements is
    select element_name
    from oplan_element_attribs
    where parent_element='Transactions'
    and element_name='OPLAN_STATUS';
    elements_rec cur_get_elements%rowtype;
    v_element number;
    begin
    for elements_rec in cur_get_elements
    Loop
    dbms_output.put_line ('before extract');
    select nvl(count(value(p)),0)
    into v_element
    from oplan_sub_content_xml oscx,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(SUBSCRIPTION_CONTENT,'Transactions/elements_rec.element_name'))) p;
    if v_element =0
    then dbms_output.put_line ('Element ' || elements_rec.element_name || ' is null');
    elsif v_element > 0
    then dbms_output.put_line ('Element ' || elements_rec.element_name || ' is not null');
    end if;
    end loop;
    end;
    SQL> /
    before extract
    Element OPLAN_STATUS is null
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    If i hard code the element_name (elements_rec.element_name) on line 16 (line wraps) to "OPLAN_STATUS' i get desired results ... returns not null
    declare

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    I should try everything before posting! Sorry, got it to work...

  • I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/

    I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/OpptyDetPG. The value I want is in the VO oracle.apps.asn.opportunity.server.OpportunityDetailsVO and the field PartyName.
    I have created a button on the page whose destination URL is
    OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName={#PartyName}
    It opens the correct page, but in the URL it shows this
    http://aa.com:8005/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName=&_ti=1897289736&oapc=177&oas=x5E2TIfP1Y0FykBt1ek4ug..
    You can see that &CustName is not getting the proper value. Do I need to do something different?

    You cannot call the form with OA.jsp . This is applicable only for OAF based pages registered as a function.
    For calling a Form, use the below example:
    You have to change the application responsibility key and form function name .
    "form:PN:PN:STANDARD:XXPNTLEASE:QUERY_LEASE_ID={@QueryLeaseNumber}"

    Hi,
    Please help me to resolve the below error:
    I am trying to pass an OUT parameter in a package.
    I have declared it in package specs as
    ProcABC(p_val IN varchar2, p_val2 IN varchar2, p_val3 OUT varchar2)
    In package body
    I have created the procedure as
    Create or Replace procedure ProcABC(p_val IN varchar2, p_val2 IN varchar2, p_val3 OUT varchar2) AS
    v_LogDir varchar2(40);
    v_message varchar2(200);
    BEGIN
    SELECT directory_path into v_LogDir FROM ALL_DIRECTORIES WHERE directory_name = 'ABC';
    v_message := v_LogDir ;
    some sql statements..
    p_val3 := v_message;
    Return p_val3;
    End procABC;
    SQL> exec pkg_A.procABC('Stage2', NULL, p_val3);
    Package compiles successfully but while execution it returns error as:

    PLS-00201: identifier 'p_val3 ' must be declared
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    Please advise.

    Hi Suresh,
    Thanks for the information and help. I was able to run the package with this usage.
    Now, the issue is
    I need to return a v long string by the OUT parameter so I defined the datatype of OUT parameter as CLOB.
    But, when I declare local variable to run the package with this OUT paramater I get the error :
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    When I pass a shorter string it works.
    Kindly advise me how to resolve this issue while using CLOB as datatype of OUT parameter.

    When I am trying to call this Jsp from IE-5 on my client machine, I am getting error:-"java.io.StreamCorruptedException: InputStream does not contain a serialized" Pl help me out.

    You should probably change your implementation to use a servlet rather than JSP. There may be extra stuff being put in by the JSP. Besides, servlets run faster. Here is some code that may help.
    From the Servlet:
      public void doPost(
          HttpServletRequest               httpServletRequest,
          HttpServletResponse              httpServletResponse )
          throws ServletException, IOException {
        ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(new GZIPInputStream(httpServletRequest.getInputStream()));
        requestObject = in.readObject() ;
        ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(new GZIPOutputStream(httpServletResponse.getOutputStream()));
        out.writeObject(responseObject);
        out.close();
      } //end doPost()And from the Applet:
      public Object doServletCall(
          Object                           sendObject ) {
        try {
          HttpURLConnection con = (HttpURLConnection)servlet.openConnection() ;
          con.setRequestMethod("POST");
          con.setDoInput(true);
          con.setDoOutput(true);
          con.setUseCaches(false);
          con.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
          ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(new GZIPOutputStream(con.getOutputStream()));
          out.writeObject(sendObject);
          out.flush();
          out.close();
          ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(new GZIPInputStream(con.getInputStream()));
          Object returnObject = in.readObject() ;
          in.close();
          return returnObject ;
        } catch (IOException e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
        } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
        } //end try
        return null ;
      } //end doServletCall()Of course you can remove the ZIP and send object if you don't need them

  • Trying to pass parameters between GUI classes and methods

    Hi All.
    I have been working on a rather large final year project in college and it is getting close to the deadline. It looks as though I need to "tidy up" my code as it contains too many static methods, variables and other bad programming habits. My package consists of many different GUI's and classes. Up until now I have been calling different GUI's with guiName.NameOfMethod. I have been told this is bad practice so I am trying to fix this. Also instead of passing parameters correctly I have been creating static variables in my main class and using them. So for example if one class needed to pass a variable to the other I would first myGlobalVariable = X; in the first class. And then the second class can use this. This is also bad, right?
    So I guess im really just looking for a good example or tutorial on how to pass parameters between classes and methods, GUI if possible. Here is an example of how my GUI classes look:
    public class anotherGUI extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
            private JTextField a, b, c;
            private JButton button1, button2;
            JPanel p, p1;
            public anotherGUI() {
                LayOutAnotherGUI();
                setLocationRelativeTo(DnDMain.pictureArray[a]);
                setTitle("Example");
                setVisible(true);
                pack();
            private void LayOutAnotherGUI(int c) {
         //GUI is layed out here
            public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                Object source = e.getSource();
                if (source == submit)
                    clickOK();
            public void clickOK(){
                //Here is where I have been accessing and modifying static global variables.  (But this needs to change).
    public void showanotherGUI() {
            new anotherGUI();
    }This is more or less how I have been going about creating my GUI's. These are used as pop ups. The user enters a value and then it is closed.
    To be honest I have been able to pass a variable correctly from one class to a GUI class but I have still having difficulty. For example in my code above I can pass the variable into this class but I cannot pass it into clickOK(). An this is where it is needed.
    Can anyone please help?
    I hope I have explained my problem well.
    Thanks in advance.

    I dont think that is what I need. An example of what I do in my program is:
    I have a main GUI with an array of images. There are a number of other small GUI's that appear for certain functions when the user clicks on an image or does some other function. I am trying to pass a value into the GUI class that is used for the smaller "pop up" GUI. So lets say the user has clicked the image in array[12]. Then a GUI is displayed. I need to pass the integer 12 into this class.
    Thanks.

  • Any easy way to execute function when a [bindable] property changes?

    Say i have a [Bindable] property
    [Bindable] public var myText:String;
    Is there some easy way to trigger a function when myText changes?
    I understand that Bindable metadata tag adds setter and getter functions and some propertyChanged-event or something, so can i like just use ".addEventListener(Event, myFunction)" somewhere or something similar to execute myFunction?

    I tested this code:

  • Help: I am trying to pass a variable between classes

    I am trying to pass data in a variable inbetween two classes is there any suggestions as to how to do this? Here is a example of the code I am trying to pass MqMessage to the class MqLog.
    if(MqMessage.equals("END"))
                                       finalize();
                                       System.exit( 0 );
                             else //else build flat file and launch docusolve
                                       MqLog tempMqLog = new MqLog();
                                       tempMqLog.levelThreeDiagnostic();
                                       aRuntime = null;
                                       aProcess = null;
                                  }

    I don't really undestand what you are asking specifically. If you only want to transfer a value from one Object to another Object, then you should just use a set method:
    if (objectOne.getValue().equals("END"))
    end();
    else
    objectTwo.setValue(objectOne.getValue())

  • Trying to pass report_id from form

    I keep getting an error FRM-41219 Cannot find report. I am trying to pass the report info from a 10g Form, with a button that calls a procedure which passes all of the report info to the built in parameter form inside an 10g Oracle Report.
    I noticed this in a tech note but for some reason thought that this was a bug fixed in 6i, does anyone know:
    To use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT successfully, the Reports Server name must not
    include underscores or numbers. The default Reports Server name created during
    install normally an underscore and the digits 60. The easiest way to get round
    this is to add an additional alias for the Reports Server entry in the
    tnsnames.ora file. e.g.
    I was wondering if there was anything else obvious a beginner should be looking for?
    I appreciate any help!
    THanks,
    Va.

    So, when I got home... my Oracle App Development book was waiting, and it says that you still have to name the server without underscores or it truncates the name... um, I might be the only person who didn't know that... but thought I would share.
    Thanks...

  • Passing an object to a cfc as an argument

    I am trying to pass an object of java.util.RegularEnumSet into a CFC as an argument. This object contains several methods, but when I try to use any of these methods inside the CFC it is telling me there is no such methods in my enum set. When I use these java methods outside of my cfc on a test page it works just fine, any ideas why I cant pass this java object into my cfc and use the object's methods? Thanks in advance.

    I'm guessing that cfc's were not designed with your intended use in mind.  Why don't you simply create an object inside your cfc?

  • How can I pass a Presentation Variable (Date) into a prompt

    Hello
    How can I pass a Presentation Variable (date) into a prompt? I seem to be able to do this successfully for a non-date value but have had no luck with a Date variable.
    Here's a simplistic version of what I'm trying to do:
    1. I have a Presentation Variable called startDate which is a Date that defaults to this SQL - SELECT "Reporting Dates"."Measure Date" FROM Trading WHERE "Reporting Dates"."Date Name" = 'Current'.
    2. I now want to pass this variable into a prompt with SQL like this: SELECT "Position Date"."Position Date" FROM Trading where "Position Date"."Position Date" = date'@{startDate}{2009-04-24}'
    I get this error: Datetime value @{startDate}{2009-04-24} from @{startDate}{2009-04-24} does not match the specified format.
    Now I can use the exact same syntax in a filter. For example, a simple Answers request where I pick Position Date with a filter saying "Position Date"."Position Date" = date'@{startDate}{2009-04-24}' works fine.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Can you provide more information please?
    1. What is the format of the first date prompt, is it YYYY-MM-DD or?
    2. Which data type is Position Date."Position Date" in the physical layer, date or date time?
    3. What is the column formula in the first prompt?
    4. The first prompt is set to drop-down or?
    5. If you are using this SQL Results in the second prompt:
    SELECT "Position Date"."Position Date" FROM Trading where "Position Date"."Position Date" = date '@{startDate}{2009-04-24}'
    then @{startDate} must be in YYYY-MM-DD format to work properly, otherwise (for example):
    datetime value 01/01/2000 from 01/01/2000 does not match the specified format.
    This doesn't work for example:
    SELECT Times.time_id FROM "Normal model" where Times.time_id =date '01/01/2000'

  • Pass TestStand error type directly into function parameter

    Hi,
    I am using TestStand 4 and Labwindows CVI 8.5.
    I wonder if it is possible to pass Standard Step error type into CVI function parameters.
    I think it would be more simple to pass one parameter instead of passing Error code, Error occurred state and Error message into function prototype.
    I tried to use tsErrorDataType struct defined into tsutil.h into my function prototype.
    In TestStand, I pass Step error type into function parameter but it does not work.
    TestStand displays an error meaning parameters does not match function prototype.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Tartempion,
    In order to pass the TestStand Error Container as one parameter to a function in a CVI DLL, you must use a struct that is typedef'ed and create an .fp file that is included as a type library for the DLL. When you create a .fp file to add to a DLL, the DLL will not build unless all structs/enums are typedef'ed. Thus, I wouldn't advise using the tsutil.h because you would have to go through and typedef every single struct and enum in the header file.
    Instead, you can simply create a typedef'ed struct in your projects header file and create an .fp file with the struct specified as a data type. Then in TestStand, when you call the function you would need to ensure that the parameter is of Category "C Struct", and type "Error". The attached zip file contains a CVI 8.5 project that demonstrates this along with a TestStand 4.0 sequence file that demonstrates how to pass the parameter to the function by reference. In case you run into trouble creating the .fp file please refer to the following KnowledgeBase. The instructions are for enums but easily correspond to structs as well:
    TestStand and LabWindows/CVI Enumeration Data Types
    Hope this helps!

  • How to pass parameters to javascript from HTMLB Button Click

    Hi Experts,
    I am using a HTMLB Button, I need to pass parameters to JavaScript onClientClick.
    Whether we can pass parameters to javascript function from HTMLB button.
    I tried to pass parameters to javascript in onClientClick, but on load of the page it is saying that its a Syntax error.
    This is the code that i have created Script
    Note: The parameters and the Button are dynamically created. Also there are n Numbers of buttons created.
    Please help me in this regard to solve the issue. If there are any error in syntax please let me know.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Palani

    Rather than using SQL loader, you could just use similar syntax in an external table definition. It both cases, the file may need to be at the OS level.
    http://www.psoug.org/reference/externaltab.html
    If your file is stored in an Apex table's clob column, you can just loop through the individual lines (but then need to parse the lines yourself). See clob2line here http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:285215954607#388438800346703098
    Or you can dump the clob to the OS first (using utl_file or dbms_lob), and then read it back using external table, taking advantage of your control file definition. sqlloader has the disadvantage of needing user/pass usually.
