Imac crushing 2 times in 1 month and lose everythink

I've got imac 21.5inch. it has been working fine for 10 months. suddenly its stuck and after restarting its loading and then crushing. i have formated the pc and after two weeks the same thing happened. what should i do? what is the problem?
Please help my to find a solution because its the second time to lose everythink ( pictures, songs, iphone backup and many other thinks ) and i do not can to format again and lose again everythink!!

In my experience with computers in general, re-installing the operating system (which is what I assume you are referring to when you say "format") is always a last resort and never the first choice no matter how bad of a crash my computer is exhibiting and regardless of how frequently they occur. But that information is not much help to you now, of course. I mainly mention it because so many new things can go wrong with an OS re-install that if I had one problem to begin with, I might have two or three after implementing something that drastic. Sometimes, I can isolate the problem to a certain software program (on one PC once it was the anti-virus program that was the culprit) and then by un-installing only that problem program, things can return to normal functioning levels once again (often without that problem program or at least with a different version later on).
Now I hate to sound somewhat harsh here but there is a gamble involved whenever anyone buys any computer and decides not to purchase the extended warranty. The way I see it, I either spend the money upfront on the AppleCare extended warranty and I'm covered for most things (defined in the contract) for 3 years from my original date of purchase (if I am remembering things correctly). Or if I don't buy the AppleCare extended warranty, then even though I am saving some money upfront (that I could presumably invest although there are usually some risks that go along with that), I am taking a chance that if my computer starts having major problems after the 1 year warranty that comes with the purchase automatically expires, I will be the only one assuming the entire financial risk for any needed repairs but only because I failed to opt for what to me has always seemed like the wiser course of action = buy the AppleCare warranty before it's too late (before one year from the purchase date). I mention this mainly because you say it is unfair that you should have to pay money to fix your iMac and I say that it is not unfair at all since you had the same opportunity that every Mac purchaser has to buy the AppleCare warranty...and you even had an entire year to think it over.
So the only positive thing I can say (since it is not my intention to attach negative vibes to this message) is that if it is too late to buy the AppleCare warranty, you can apply the money you saved from not buying AppleCare to your initial repair (and it sounds to me like you might need a qualified service technician to repair your product unless there is some software conflict that is causing your problem...I'm assuming you have downloaded all the latest versions of all programs and in particular the operating system after backing up all of your personal files to an external hard drive and/or a CD and/or a DVD and/or to your MobileMe account if you have one). If it is not too late to purchase AppleCare, then I support the previous suggestion that you buy it and I would only add that you do it now without hesitation (if it is just past the deadline, call them up anyway and politely ask them if they can sell you AppleCare anyway...companies can often be flexible and accomodating if you give them the chance to be but you have to remain calm and respect their final decision either way = no loud cussing in your native language, for example, and don't mention the word "unfair" unless it is after you've already hung up the phone and even then, I'd reduce the overall volume to a faint whisper if not a muffled sigh of indecipherable incoherence since when all is said and done, frustration speaks to us all in the same language).

why does my iMac appear many times in my network and labelled 1,2,3, etc

    Ok, I solved it.
    I followed this steps:
1- Turn Off Wi-Fi from the Wireless menu item
2- From the OS X Finder, hit Command+Shift+G and enter the following path:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
3- Within this folder locate and select the following files:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist

com.apple.network.identification.plist
    com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist

    NetworkInterfaces.plist

    preferences.plist
4- Move all of these files into a folder on your Desktop called ‘wifi backups’ or something similar – we’re backing these up just in case you break something but if you regularly backup your Mac you can just delete the files instead since you could restore from Time Machine if needed.
    5- Reboot the Mac
6- Turn ON WI-Fi from the wireless network menu again

  • Handling Time Dimensions with Monthly and Weekly analysis

I'm charged to build a cube that can handle both monthly and weekly analysis. They want to be view projections on a weekly grain, but looking back at history they want to be able to tie back to the general ledger at a monthly level.
Is it overkill to load data down to the daily level in order to support multiple roll ups to the month and week? What is the best way to handle this kind of situation?

Having the data come as two different formats (one for months, one for weeks) versus having it come in daily buckets and constructing the months/weeks within Essbase is a call I wouldn't make without understanding the needs first.
Assuming there is no need for data at the daily level, I would weigh the selection based on performace. If the performance is not too outragious, taking the data in at a daily basis would make it easier to reconstruct later. If performance is an issue (or becomes an issue), I would still be tempted to load a daily cube at level 0, summarize the Months and Weeks, and then feed the main cube from there.
So many ways to do this... and for every way there is a reason you might want to try something else. I'd start with the easy approach, and only go "grand" if you have to (meaning: load it daily, summarize in Essbase, and revisit the detail/summary cube split idea if the performance tanks out).

  • Time Capsule flashes amber and loses connection at least once a day

    Hello,
I got my Time Capsule a month ago. I had an old one from 2008 which I gave to a friend, so it was time to upgrade. I have no idea what's going on, but the Time Capsule flashes amber and I lose my Internet connection at least once a day, sometimes two or three times within a few hours.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any idea how to fix it?
    If it matters, I'm on a mid-2010 MBP running OS X 10.8.5.
    Thanks!

    You and everyone else.

It is not stable firmware.. or has issues .. with some modems.. or is just faulty.. pick one or two choices.
There is no fix because this is really a bug.

  • I just opened iWeb for the first time in several months and the fonts have changed and are garbled in the headers.  Is this a result of switching to Lion, and does this mean I have to go through all 70 pages on my site and manually change them back?

The text on my pages are messed up.  The letters in my headers are on top of each other and the letters in the body of my pages have no separation between them.  Is this a result of switching to Lion?  (I haven't opened iWeb in several months, since before I installed Lion.)  Any ideas of how to fix this, or do I need to go text block by text block and page by page to put it back right?  Thanks.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Refurb i3 21.5 lasted 2 1/2 months and graphics card failed??

I got a refurb 21.5 i3 in mid February of this year and it was a really nice machine and was fine out of the box, but, 2 1/2 months later it started getting random artifacts on the screen. I ignored it for a few days and tried doing all the usual easy things(resetting the SMC etc) they tell you to do first when you call in with a problem and nothing helped and then it became constant and icons in the dock started to "split" i.e. Safari and Firefox were next to each other and when you highlighted Safari and it magnified it appeared both in it's spot as well as half next Firefox and there was a permanent line where the dock was and I got triangle shaped pieces that looked like tears in the screen and garbled text too.
I called and they made me an appointment at the Genius Bar and they offered me a replacement after only 5 minutes of looking at it and seeing how bad it was. I am happy they gave me a new machine instead of a refurb BUT I am here 19 days later still using my trusty 1.42 Emac and the iMac sits here unopened and still sealed as I am afraid to use it as all THREE Intel Macs all failed (Mini 1.66ghz 3 motherboards in 6 months and replaced, 24" C2D iMac 2 graphics cards in 5 months and then it failed again out of Applecare warranty and I lost over $1000 in 3 years 1 month, then this last one in 2 1/2 months) I do not smoke, use an APC battery backup/sure protector, my outlet is grounded and my voltage in my house if very stable with little variation. Is there something I am missing??? I am now nearly $3600 in Macs over about 5 years and using a $100 Emac that is even older than that. Anyone else have similar experiences or can tell me what I am doing wrong to cause this? I love the Mac OS but constantly changing computers is getting very old and lugging them to the Mall 25 miles away is a real pain not to mention a great waste of time.

I hear that, person who I dealt with at Apple store said mine was the first of this generation of iMac he has seen with the issues I had but he too had a 24" C2D like mine with multiple graphics card failures and took a big hit on selling it as he got tired of fixing it. My biggest issue is I seem to have lost the lottery 3 times with my recent machines, transferring 250-300gb of video, 75 or so gb of music plus all my email, GarageSale etc is a pain every few months backup or not it still takes time. On average I lose 3-4 days between driving back and forth twice to the Apple store, transferring everything and getting the machine how I like it.
I sold over 60 G3 iMacs from a local school district on Ebay and out of those NONE were unusable unless they had a physical issue caused by rough handling like dropping or a failed optical drive and there were only 2 of those.
I have had G3, G4, G5 iMacs, G4 Emacs, G3,4,5 Powermacs for my own use and never had an issue like the ones I experienced with just 3 Intel based machines and every time I got a new machine it was an upgrade in speed never for a failed unit and I always sold them for a fair price and put it towards the new one. It seems as though you are almost being forced to buy a new machine soon after your warranty runs out due to failure, I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination and this seems a high price to pay for using a premium machine in my honest opinion.
Again, this just MY opinion and there seem to be 999,999 happy stories to my one sad one but everyone has a different idea of a good experience with a machine as far as service and reliability.
I am not downing Apple products as a whole as I had many, many good experiences with them to this point including Ipods, Ipads, and PPC machines but since there seems to be an endless supply of i3 21.5" refurbs on the online Apple store there has to be an inordinately high number of them coming back for one reason or another this is just simple math. I purchased a refurb for 2 reasons 1) it is cheaper not going to deny I hoped to save a few bucks on it 2) I figured a machine that was returned once would have updated parts installed and be trouble free but it was not.

I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was? I want to make sure I will still have various important files on my new computer, like my songs in iTunes, my photos in iPhoto, etc, etc. Thanks so much in advance!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you turn on the new iMac for the first time, Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so connect the external disk and follow steps to restore all your files to your new iMac. Your new Mac will have the same settings and programs as your old computer.
In other cases, I would recommend to restore the whole backup without using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, but a Late 2012 iMac uses a special OS X build, so the OS X version that you're using on your old Mac won't work on the new one. I have IMac OSX 10.9.4, 4GB,Processor 3.06 with Intell2Duo. I would like to check for Malware. I run a TechTool Pro 6 every month and that comes up great.
When check how much memory I am using, with only Safari open I am using 3.9 and more of her 4.0 memory. She is very. very slow in processing. I had 4000
trash to clean out and it took her over an hour to expel. Also for some reason Safari will not allow me to click on a link, in my G-mail, and let it go to the page.
It has a sign saying a pop-up blocker is on and will not let me do it. I must open the stamp to look at my e-mails and if I have redirected link now I can do it.
I have not changed my preferences so where is this pop-up blocker?
I have looked at preferences on Safari and Google, which I do not understand Google, and do not see where this blocker could be.
Malware is something I want to make sure is not on my computer. Tech Tool Pro 6 is all I know of and it does not detect Malware.
    Help.

  • Fetching month and year from CV of Time dim

    Hi,
I am working on BPC 7 MS version, SP3. I need to fetch Month and Year values from my Current View (i.e., %TIME_SET%) .... and if the month is AUG and year is Current I then want a logic to run... Is this possible??
I have written the following code, and only if i hardcode the time (WHEN TIME IS 2009.AUG) the logic seems to work. But I want it to be dynamic
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET ACCOUNT=INC_REC_IN_AD
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME=%YEAR%.AUG,%TIME_SET%
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET CATEGORY=ACTUAL
    *WHEN ACCOUNT
    *IS *
    *WHEN TIME.MONTHNUM
    *IS 8
    *FOR %YEAR%=%TIME_SET%.YEAR
    *FOR %MONTH%=AUG,SEP,OCT,NOV,DEC
    *REC(FACTOR=1/5,TIME="%YEAR%.%MONTH%",ACCOUNT="TEMPSTUDYEDU")
    *NEXT
    *NEXT
    *ENDWHEN
    *ENDWHEN
    *COMMIT
    Thanks,
    Prasanth.

I think your formula is correc the %YEAR% is not a valid, Can you trap that and see what is being passed, you may also try to split the year out of %TIME%
    hope it helps.

I am a first time user of the new airport extreme time capsule 2TB. I use a macbook pro and imac. I installed the router today and got on wirelessly. BUT I cannot get my 2 printers that were previously wireless to find the router signal. The worked fine on my current set up OS Mounitain Lion 10.8.4.  Apple tells me it is the printer mfr issue and printer companies tell me it is apple issue. Any help appreciated.

    Arguably, they're both right.
Changing your router changes everything, so your best course of action is to research the respective printer's documentation and determine how to reset them to factory default condition. Then, add them again using System Preferences > Print & Scan.
For that, I recommend you first "reset the printing system" according to these instructions: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system. Its instructions for Lion are identical to those for Mountain Lion.
As the article states, it will remove all your existing printers, leaving the Mac's printing system in a similar "factory default" condition ready for you to create a new print queue for each printer, which you should probably do.
Apple's printing support documents contain a great deal of redundancy, but this one may be a good place to start: OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a printer to print wirelessly

Go to the airport utility and erase the TC disk.. a quick erase is fine and takes less than 1min usually.
A one pass erase takes several hours depending on how big the hard disk is.. but is somewhat safer in that it tests the drive condition. I normally don't bother for a TM backup.
When you start over you should be able to fit both backups on the TC.. assuming the disk is 2x larger at least than the space used on both the MB and the iMac.
If not you can also add a USB drive to the TC, and use that for one of the computers.
The slowest one is best.. as USB is slow.. but fast enough for wireless you won't notice much.
