Image control on Forms for retreiving Image stored in tables

Oracle 10 g XE is miising an easy to use Image add/show feature from a database table in it's application builder. Use of BLOB and BFile is not easily handled and neither it is covered well in the user guide.
Can someone help me in some easy to do steps.
Thanks

Are you sure you have put the path to your Image Bean on the IDEClassPath line
in file [JDev]\bin\jdeveloper.ini?
As you know, an EJB has no UI, so I am not sure what you mean about using an EJB for this.

  • Use Formule on FORM with REPORT - result stored at table

    Hi all,
    What is the best solution for?
    I have region with FORM WITH REPORT on the same PAGE.
    Values stored at table INFO with column ID, MYDATE, TIME_START_HOUR, TIME_START_MIN, TIME_END_HOUR, TIME_END_MIN, SUM1, SUM2
    ITEMS on the form:
    P1_ID (hidden)
    P1_MYDATE (date picker)
    P1_TIME_START_HOUR (select list)
    P1_TIME_START_MIN (select list)
    P1_TIME_END_HOUR (select list)
    P1_TIME_END_MIN (select list)
    P1_SUM1 (hidden)
    P1_SUM2 (hidden)
    After user fill in MYDATE, TIME_START_HOUR, TIME_START_MIN, TIME_END_HOUR, TIME_END_MIN then I need proces for calculation SUM1 en SUM2. Result stored (one record) at table INFO.
    Report shows all columns. User had possibility to update the record
    Formule:
    Select
    (CASE
    when to_char(mydate,'DY','nls_date_language=dutch') in ('ZA','ZO')
    THEN substr(to_timestamp (mydate||':'||TIME_END_HOUR||':'||TIME_END_MIN ||':00','DD-MM-YY:HH24:MI:SS') -
    to_timestamp (mydate||':'||TIME_START_HOUR||':'||TIME_START_MIN ||':00','DD-MM-YY:HH24:MI:SS') -
    (interval '00 00:00:00' day to second)
    ,12,5)
    ELSE '08:00'
    END) SUM1,
    (CASE
    when to_char(mydate,'DY','nls_date_language=dutch') in ('ZA','ZO')
    THEN substr(to_timestamp (mydate||':'||TIME_END_HOUR||':'||TIME_END_MIN ||':00','DD-MM-YY:HH24:MI:SS') -

    ,12,5)
    ELSE '04:00'
    END) SUM2
    FROM INFO
    where id=:ID
    What is the best way for the calculation: computation or processes or etc? The calculation after or before user push button(New:create button of Update:Apply Changes)?
    How to fill the answer (SUM1 and SUM2) at table INFO?
    Thanks Walter

    Hi Gordan
    Just for information, the link syntax doesn't work on the forum anymore, just paste the link in with no tags or brackets and it will be 'clickable'.
    Exactly what are you trying to achieve here?
    Have you had a look at these sites which may be of some use to you...

  • Viewing dimensions for images stored on NAS drive

    Hi
    I have a problem with seeing dimensions for any images stored on my NAS drive. I can see the info for the folder contents under each, so that's clearly working, just not the image dimensions. 'Get Info' doesn't have this information either. Any ideas?

    Image dimensions would be stored in what is called metadata. If the NAS file system doesn't support maintaining the metadata, then there is no way for your Mac to see it. That data is stored in the Resource fork of the file, the image being stored in the data fork.
    If the Mac tries to write to a file system that does not support the resource forks, it will also copy over a ._ file of the same name, if it can. That file contains the metadata. However, I'm not certain if the OS can also read those files when browsing the file system.

  • Can I set up a pro forma for multiple images

    Hi all
    Well I am a newbie to Keynote and I am really enjoying using it.
    I am trying to set up a pro forma for class photos at a school, the photos have been handed to me by the teachers but are all slightly different sizes.
    My question is can I set up some sort of master document where I can place the photos (head shots) of the students with their names under them ready for a keynote display and have the photos all the same size without editing them separately.
    I need to be able to remove photos occasionally too (ie if they are absent etc) so would need it to be a 'changeable' master rather than a screen shot.  The amount of students in each class varies from 15 to 29 so I would need to accommodate the 29 with names under them and a heading somewhere on the page.
    Is it doable?  Do I do it straight into the keynote or onto a pages document first?
    Thanks in advance for any help advice you can give.
    Regards
    Alitheste

    The Mac OS X Mail application has a "Junk" function that works locally, on the Mac, and just puts emails from previously designated "junk" addresses into a separete folder, so you don't have to wade thru all that spam in your Inbox. It's a very elegant and simple, local solution, that I dearly miss on iOS.
    I did submit a request for it at Apple Feedback page.

  • APEX 5.0. Report with image stored in a BLOB gives ORA-06502.

    Hi,
    I want to create an Interactive Report - Desktop with an image in which is stored in a BLOB but it returnes a: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error.
    I have created a test report with only the image (billed - which is a BLOB) and an ID (the PK  - a number from a sequence)
    select ID, billed from foto
    I have tried with and without a formatmask for the ID '999999999999999' and the Type as Plain text as there seems not to be a better choice..
    For the 'billed' Type is 'Display Image' and the 'Table Name' and 'BLOB Column' are set. 'Primary Key Column 1' is set to ID. 'Mime Type Colomn' points to a field that contains 'image/jpeg' as the stored image is a photo in jpg.
    The image displays OK from a Forms application.
    DB is a 11.2.0.4 on Linux 6.6 and APEX is 5.0
    What have I missed?
    Thanks,
    Dino

    Now the problem is when I Build&Clean the whole project which creates a /dist directory containing the complied and execulatble .Jar file for the application AND a folder called "lib" which contains the Resource.Zip folderThe String based constructor to ImageIcon presumes the String represents a File path. File objects do not work with resources inside Jar or Zip archives, for those, you need an URL. Gain the URL using something like..
    URL urlToImage = this.getClass().getResource("/res/Product.png");

  • How to get the path of the image stored in sap??

    Hi All
    The problem is
    While making an entry in standard there is a field called documents through which we attach our images in sap.
    How to get the path of the image stored with the corresponding order so that the image can be displayed while we are creating a report.
    I know how to upload the image while creating a report using docking control.
    I am not able to get the path of the image stored...
    Please Help
    Thanks in advance..

    I am not aware of exactly which tables are used for storing the attached doc. details, but we have worked in the similar requiremnent.
    What you can do is .... before uploading the image to any order, try swich on the SQL trace ST05 and after upload switch off.
    The log will display what are the tables involved while storing the image. And you can easily find out the image location.

    In any real application, it's a mistake to mix your presentation (user interface) code with your persistance (database access) code.
    Why? You want maintainability, flexibility, and testability.
    Maintainability:
    Suppose you want to change the structure of your database. E.g. the database admin (which may be you, or someone else) determines that the database design you have is inefficient and needs to be changed. If your database code is scattered over the whole application, mixed in among your user interface code, tracking down what needs to be changed will be a nightmare. If all your database code is in a single class, or perhaps a set of classes in a single package, then the updates are localized and much easier to manage. Furthermore, you can build the new database access code on its own, test it out, and then when you are sure it works just switch your user interface code to use the new persistance layer instead of the old one. The same applies if you decide you're going to use a completely different technology to store the data; perhaps you want to use something like Hibernate instead of plain JDBC, or maybe you decide you want to make the data accessibile via a web service.
    Flexibility:
    What if you (or, more likely, your manager) decides they're going to change to a new user interface technology. Maybe they decide to switch to a web application (i.e. HTML-based) instead of a desktop application. You obviously need to rewrite the user interface code, but you should be able to keep all the database access code you've written. If your database access code is all jumbled up with the user interface code you're replacing, it's going to be way harder to reuse that code. If the two are separated out, you just build a new user interface in whatever new technology you're using, and access the same class(es) you used for your database access without touching them.
    Testability:
    This whole thread is actually a demo of how testability is much harder if you don't properly separate your code. You posted "getting image stored in database", thinking that was your problem. It wasn't; your problem was actually an error in the way you'd set up your JavaFX code. Because the two were completely mixed together, it was hard to know where the error was. The error you had was actually a really simple one; it would have been much easier to see if you had simpler, properly separated code; but because you didn't organize your code like that it took you days to figure out the problem. This was only a couple of dozen lines of code; imagine how this looks in a real application with hundreds or thousands of classes.
    The point is that decisions about how to access your data (standalone database, web service, or EJB?; plain JDBC, JPA, Hibernate, etc?) , and decisions about the presentation technology (desktop or web? JavaFX or Swing?, or Servlets/JSPs, JSF, Swing MVC, or any of a huge number of frameworks) are completely independent. You should be in a position to change those decisions - to redesign aspects of the application - with the least amount of effort possible. Failing to properly design things will make this much harder, or likely completely impossible.
    These are real concerns that affect every application that goes into production.
    Even if you're just making a small application, it will benefit you to set things up correctly from the outset.

  • Cache of Displayed Images Stored in a BLOB

    I would like to know how I can cache the data that is an image stored as a blob? This is for when I refresh/revisit/branch to a page taht contains images sourced from a blob, such that it does not compel the browser to regenerate the blob image file data?

    Hi!
    We use jsp (for example ManagerPhoto.jsp), which is deployed to OC4J:
    Blob managerPhoto;

    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=manager_photo.jpg");
    response.setHeader("cache-control","public");

    outputStream.write(managerPhoto.getBytes(1, (int)managerPhoto.length()));
    out.clear();

  • Reports JFIF image stored in a blob

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using forms & reports 10g release 1. I noticed that a image stored in a blob with a format of JFIF doesn't work well with in Reports. I get the rep-62203, cannot render error. When the datatype is longraw instead of blob, it works fine. But I can't use longraw, because built in in pl/sql doesn't allow to read the field passe 32K. So that's why we convert to Blob.
    I made a few test: 1) I stored a simple jpg with Toad and It work fine with Reports. I stored with a form but of a format of GIF it works fine. But the JFIF just doesn't work reports. What's the problem?
    How can this be solve?
    I thought maybe saving the image prior calling the report into a file and then link it with report. That will be my last choice. I prefere not to got there.
    Any idea?

    Hi,
    We finnally succeeded. Dsegard gave us the right solution. <div>It was the setup of the display that was on error. We use VNC as the display. Now the display is set correctly and the reports shows up fine.
    By seting REPORTS_DEFAULT_DISPLAY=NO, It did work for both the server and the local host.
    Thank you dsregard.</div>

  • Blob problem (Image storing or Currupted )

    AOA!
    I am working as a developer in a companey. we made a database for HRMS. In this database there is a table EMPLOYEE with a column PICTURE of type BLOB. We were using oracle 8i initially but when we migrate to oracle 9i, we are facing a problem in image storing. The situation is, database showing ur previously stored images (those have stored in oracle 8i) but when we save a new image in that table or any other table it seams to be saved but cannot retrived. I mean when we issue a query
    SELECT EMP_ID FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE PICTURE IS NOT NULL;
    It shows the new inserted records too (thats shows us that picture has been inserted) but when we issue query from a forms6i application it didnt show any image. In case of report, when we try to query a record which newly inserted with image, it says some thing like REPORT IS UNABLE TO SHOW IMAGE FORMATE etc.
    The situation is for all table and all schema which is indicating us may be it is some thing due to oracle 9i headen technique or due to miss managment by us. we dont have DBA in our companey.

    From the documentation:
    URL Reference
    1.Insert a dummy image in your template.
    2.In Microsoft Word's Format Picture dialog box select the Web tab. Enter the following syntax in the Alternative text region to reference the image URL:
    url:{'http://image location'}
    For example, enter: url:{'http://www.oracle.com/images/ora_log.gif'}
    Element Reference from XML File
    1.Insert a dummy image in your template.
    2.In Microsoft Word's Format Picture dialog box select the Web tab. Enter the following syntax in the Alternative text region to reference the image URL:
    url:{IMAGE_LOCATION}
    where IMAGE_LOCATION is an element from your XML file that holds the full URL to the image.
    You can also build a URL based on multiple elements at runtime. Just use the concat function to build the URL string. For example:
    url:{concat(SERVER,'/',IMAGE_DIR,'/',IMAGE_FILE)}
    where SERVER, IMAGE_DIR, and IMAGE_FILE are element names from your XML file that hold the values to construct the URL.
    This method can also be used with the OA_MEDIA reference as follows:
    url:{concat('${OA_MEDIA}','/',IMAGE_FILE)}
