Images are still uploading distorted

Hi guys,
I was here a while ago with the same problem. I'd thought I fixed it, but all  did was substitute one problem with another. Now I'm back to the distorted uploaded image issue. I believe I've located the offended code but cannot figure out how to adjust it so the uploaded image isn't distorted.
Basically what happens is an end user can submit their own images/pictures to a loyalty/gift card. Once the card has been submitted they can then do some minor adjustments, i.e. resize, skew, and rotate. Once they are happy, they can add text as well. Once happy they can hit the submit button and their new card face is uploaded to our server.
The problem is, when the user does any sort of adjusting to the image; rotating and/or skewing, then the "Print Preview" image (which goes to the printer) is distorted. I cannot figure out how to make this distortion stop. Is there anybody here who can help?
Below is a snippet of the code I believe is causing the problem ...
/*****[ FUNCTIONS: Processes the final upload                          ]*****************************************/
function doUpload(e:MouseEvent):void {
          deselect();
          //if (checkStep2()) {
                    step3.btnFinalize.mouseEnabled = false;
                    step3.btnBack.mouseEnabled = false;
                    var jpgEncoder:JPGEncoder = new JPGEncoder(100);  //Create the encoder set img quality
                    var srcFinal:BitmapData = new BitmapData(1813,1129);
                    var srcPreview:BitmapData = new BitmapData(435,271);
                    srcPreview.draw(gcPreview);  //Write the movieclip to the Bitmap Data object
                    // Clear printer movie clip.
                    while (toPrinter.numChildren > 0) {
                              toPrinter.removeChildAt(0);
                    gcPreview.mcPattern.scaleX = 1;
                    gcPreview.mcPattern.scaleY = 1;
                    gcPreview.mcFrame.scaleX = 1;
                    gcPreview.mcFrame.scaleY = 1;
                    gcPreview.mcText.width = gcPreview.mcText.width * scaleWidth;
                    gcPreview.mcText.height = gcPreview.mcText.height * scaleHeight;
                    gcPreview.mcUpload.width = gcPreview.mcUpload.width * scaleWidth;
                    gcPreview.mcUpload.height = gcPreview.mcUpload.height * scaleHeight;
                    gcPreview.mcText.x = gcPreview.mcText.x * scaleWidth;
                    gcPreview.mcText.y = gcPreview.mcText.y * scaleHeight;
                    gcPreview.mcUpload.x = gcPreview.mcUpload.x * scaleWidth;
                    gcPreview.mcUpload.y = gcPreview.mcUpload.y * scaleHeight;
                    gcPreview.mcFrame.x = gcPreview.mcFrame.x * scaleWidth;
                    gcPreview.mcFrame.y = gcPreview.mcFrame.y * scaleHeight;
                    // Add background pattern, uploaded image, and text.
                    toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mcPattern);
                    toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mcUpload);
                    toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mcFrame);
                    toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mcText);
                    if(gcPreview.mcd_logo.visible){
                              gcPreview.mcd_logo.x = gcPreview.mcd_logo.x * scaleWidth;
                              gcPreview.mcd_logo.y = gcPreview.mcd_logo.y * scaleHeight;
                              gcPreview.mcd_logo.width = gcPreview.mcd_logo.width * scaleWidth;
                              gcPreview.mcd_logo.height = gcPreview.mcd_logo.height * scaleHeight;
                              toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mcd_logo);
                    }else{
                              gcPreview.mccafe_logo.x = gcPreview.mccafe_logo.x * scaleWidth;
                              gcPreview.mccafe_logo.y = gcPreview.mccafe_logo.y * scaleHeight;
                              gcPreview.mccafe_logo.width = gcPreview.mccafe_logo.width * scaleWidth;
                              gcPreview.mccafe_logo.height = gcPreview.mccafe_logo.height * scaleHeight;
                              toPrinter.addChild(gcPreview.mccafe_logo);
                    //addClipping();  // Adds a what square where the logos would go to send to the printer.
                    srcFinal.draw(toPrinter);      // Write the movieclip to the Bitmap Data object
                    var jpgFinal:ByteArray   = jpgEncoder.encode(srcFinal);   // Create the bytearray to store the jpeg stream
                    var jpgPreview:ByteArray = jpgEncoder.encode(srcPreview);
                    upload(jpgFinal, jpgPreview);
I've also attached an image so you can see what I'm talking about ...

then add gcPreview to the display list and list your user tranform it.
when that's complete, you can use its transform.matrix to transform the bitmap:
var srcFinal:BitmapData=new BitmapData(stage.stageWidth,stage.stageHeight);
srcFinal.draw(gcPreview,gcPreview.transform.matrix);

• Updated to LR 5.4, images now importing extremely slow. After importing and rendering images are still very slow to go through and develop. No issues in LR 5.3 which was very fast.

After importing and rendering images are still very slow to go through and develop. No issues in LR 5.3 which was very fast. Canon,Nikon, Leica and Fuji files all rendering slow. iMac 2.9 ghz 16gb RAM OSX 10.8.5. Catalogs and images are kept on external drives. Drives running fine. Really need a fix on this since I'm norally imported and processing at least 4,000 images per LR Catalog. Is there way to revert back to 5.3? I can't use 5.4 is its current state. Thanks.

Download LR 5.3 and install it
By the way, lots of people have this complaint about LR 5.4, and the advice I give is to use LR 5.3 unless you need one of the new camera models supported by LR 5.4

• I have allowed remote content from one specific newsletter but images are still not displayed, is there anything further I can do?

I receive a regular newsletter from the manufacturer of a railsim. I have allowed remote content for this email address only in the security section of the options window in Thunderbird. However, the remote content (images) are still not appearing - only those little box thingies which, if I click on them, take me to various pages on the manufacturer's website. I want this facility but it's a real drag independently clicking each box to see if it is something I wish to add to my railsim.
So, having set Thunderbird to accept remote content from only this email address (all others are blocked), why is it not displaying the content?

What exactly have you got in this location.
Tools > Options > Privacy
click on 'Exceptions'.
what is entered in 'Site' and 'status'...word for word.
It may be easier to post an image.
''re: various pages on the manufacturer's website.''
Is the 'manufacturer's website - various websites or the same website that also owns the email address.
So email address may say 'info @ foobar .com'
and the website is www.foobar.com and different pages of that same website?
eg: noreply @ marshalls-seeds.co.uk Enter: marshalls-seeds.co.uk
but not sub domain - in example the 'cs' is sub domain:
eg: noreply @ cs.hm.com Enter: hm.com
else you would need to enter each sub-domain as a separate site.

• My images are still in the catalog, but the Folder name has disappeared. I need to get the folder back into my structure with the images in place

Help: I have a very well defined folder structure. Folder are located in a Master location and organized by State. Inside of these are my master RAW file folders organized by location. For example: West Virginia > BIRI_RAW_2012, BLFA_RAW_2013, NERI_RAW_2013, etc. After I set up the masterful following a shoot, I go to LR and import the images. At one time I inadvertently imported the NERI_RAW_2013 masterful set as a subset of something else and it was not appearing in my LR Module in the organization I prefer. So I went to my master folders on my drive and moved the NERI file into the West Virginia state folder. When I went back to LR, as expected the NERI folder was grey with a question mark. So I right clicked to find the files and relink, and it did not work. The folder name disappeared. The RAW files are still in the catalog and show up in a missing photos search. I can't reimport because they are already there. I just need to restore my folder structure and get the images back to the right spot.

So I right clicked to find the files and relink, and it did not work. The folder name disappeared.
It didn't disappear, it moved (because you told Lightroom to move it). It moved from the incorrect folder location, to the new folder location. Please look in the new folder, in whatever location it is in, not in the old folder and the old location, and you will find the photos.

• Website images in New Tab page are gone (except for one). I followed the Help directions to restore them. Nothing happened. They are still gone.

All but one of the images on the 'new tab' page are gone. I followed the FFox Help directions exactly & repeatedly. Nothing happened. The images are still gone. Restarting the computer did not help either.
I have Windows Seven.

• Images are blank in RH

Our FM source contains TIF images in anchored frames. RH
creates corresponding JPG files, but the files do not contain an
image (in RH or in PaintShop Pro, they show as large white
rectangles).
When installing the Tech Suite, I deselected various filters
in the FrameMaker 8 setup, but as far as I know I kept the ones I
needed. The TIF files are displayed correctly in FM 8. I have tried
re-installing FM 8 from the TechSuite setup.exe file, but there was
no option to re-select filters during the re-install.
When RH started FM, the FM Console said that parameters were
missing for various J formats (J2P etc.) I have updated the FM 8
maker.ini file with the corresponding lines from my FM7.2 maker.ini
file, and copied the dll from the 7.2 installation to the FM8
installation (all the lines referenced filters\jp2kfilter.dll). The
FM console no longer reports missing parameters, but the JPG files
in RH are still blank.
The FM 7.2 maker.ini [Filters] section has many more entries
than the FM 8 section, including:
107="TIFF" IMAG FrameVector TIFF BMPExport "TIFF"
fmexport.dll ^.tif.
I have not tried modifying this section in the FM 8 maker.ini
file, because the entries are numbered and there is already a 107=
in the FM 8 file (for an SVG filter).
I have tried specifying BMP instead of JPG in RH (Tools >
Options > Framemaker documents), but the BMPs are also blank.

By completely uninstalling and reinstalling TCS, I was able
to alter my filter selections. In the re-install, everything was
selected by default. This time I just left everything selected.
Then in RH I built a completely new project. Unfortunately,
the generated images are still blank when viewed in RH or PaintShop
Pro. I've tried specifying JPG and BMP, but the result is the same.

• Anchored frames exported as images are solid white

Hello,
I have FrameMaker 8.0p277 on Windows XP (one machine SP2, one SP3), and am trying to use Mif2Go to create a CHM/HTML Help menu. The problem I'm having is that some of my anchored frames are being converted to .jpgs that are solid white. Not all of them, just some - mostly, those that are relatively large (they vary, but 300 x 400 pixels would be one of the larger ones).
Mif2Go is looking into the issue, but it's starting to look like I might be running into a memory limit within FrameMaker?
Is anyone familiar with this problem? Is there any way around it aside from not using FrameMaker's filters?
Thanks for your help.

By completely uninstalling and reinstalling TCS, I was able
to alter my filter selections. In the re-install, everything was
selected by default. This time I just left everything selected.

• Still images are distorted

Having a frustrating problem... importing still images into FCE 4 and they are being distorted - the image appears to be stretched horizontally. The still images are set up as follows:
Frame Size: 1920 x 1080
Compressor: PNG
Pixel Aspect: HD (1440 x 1080)
Easy Setup:
Format: Apple Intermediate Codec
Use: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
Frustrating part is that some of the photos work fine and others do not - despite that they are all set up the same way. Any suggestions?

Tried the square pixel setting, still distorts.
One thing I should mention, it displays fine if I do not add any motion effects. But when I do add a motion effect, the image becomes stretched (and stretching the image is not something I am trying to do). I checked all the settings that I know of and can't find any difference between the photos that work fine and those that do not. However, this is the first video I am creating with FCE 4 so I am suspecting I am overlooking something...

• Can you upload photos that iPhoto "deleted" but are still on camera?

I was in the middle of uploading to iPhoto from my Sony Cybershot DSC-W120 when the camera's battery died. iPhoto said there'd been an interruption, etc. When I went to re-try uploading the photos once the battery was charged, only some of the photos uploaded. Unfortunately I didn't realize this and so when iPhoto asked me if I wanted to delete the photos on the camera, I said yes.
I have looked on the camera and the photos are still there in the same place they always appear when I review them, although some of them have a circle w/ an X through it in the bottom right-hand corner of the image. iPhoto says there are no photos to upload.
I disconnected the camera, turned it off, quit iPhoto, started up the camera, reconnected it; iPhoto started up again, but still says there are no photos to upload. I did not use the camera to delete the images, I only clicked "delete photos" in iPhoto. I have noticed that only clicking "delete photos" in iPhoto means that the images remain in the camera, though perhaps in a different folder. It is only when I actually use the camera to delete the photos that they are truly gone.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get these images to upload to iPhoto? Thanks so much.

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
1 - try image capture (in your applications folder)
2 - mount the camera to the desktop and see if you can download the photos using the finder
3 - if that does not find them then use media recover - http://www.mediarecover.com/ - the trial version will tell you what it can recover before you purchase
4 - in the future it is recommended that you never have iPhoto (or any other computer program) delete your photos - always import your photos (using a card reader is better in many people's opinion) and properly disconnect your camera, test them in iPhoto and then use your camera to format the card hereby deleting the photos and reformatting the card

• HT201317 When I view photos on my devices some are not oriented correctly. I used Picassa to turn all photos upright and then copied those photos into the upload file but they are still not corrected when viewed on my devices (ipads)

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.

• I am new to Mac and am having trouble with uploading images from my pictures folder to Facebook and other share sites- some of my images are accessible while others are seemingly locked....

I am new to Mac and am having trouble up loafing images from my pictures folder to photography sites and Facebook. Some of the saved images are accessible, while others are not, ( they are light colored and cannot be uploaded) I am not saving them any differently.

Hi Robodisko,
Thanks for your prompt reply......
I often proof my work in preview then edit images in photoshop and rename from there.  The dsc images are renamed to correlate the name of the class etc.  i.e. dcs_001 is saved as the file name required 7A.jpeg etc.
The file names are required to correlate what is what and so on..........

• Error message when uploading book for printing. All images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large to upload? What size is required and how do I reduce size in Aperture?

I receive an error message when I upload my book for printing. Not sure what the problem is. All my images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large as it takes about 15minutes to upload to Apple. How do I reduce the size of the image in Aperture?

Hi Leonie,
Thanks for your reply.
Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are  around 1-3 mb each and  72 ppi. I think  I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple  talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
Error message
1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.
