IMAQ Close crashing LabVIEW and sometimes Blue Screen

Hi,
I am using LabVIEW 6.0.2 with IMAQ 2.6 running on Windows 2000 OS, and am trying to get a simple ring image acquisition to operate with our Dalsa Piranha 2, 2 tap, 8k line scan camera. My problem is that LabVIEW frequently crashes (~90% of the time I run the VI), when it gets to the 'IMAQ Close.vi', and every once in a while (much less frequently) it will cause a Blue Screen. The error that I get with the crash is just a generic "Program Error - LabVIEW has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.". The error I get with the Blue Screen is "PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES". I have stepped into the 'IMAQ Close.vi' and have seen that the crash occurs on the 'imgMemUnlock.
vi". That VI calls the 'imgMemUnlock' function of the Imaq.dll.
Does anyone know what the 'imgMemUnlock' function of the 'Imaq.dll' really does, and possibly why I continue to get major crashes and Blue Screens. I have used the IMAQ Status.vi to monitor memory usage, and all appears well, but when I watch Task Manager instantaneously after receiveing the Program Error message box, I see LabVIEW's memory sky rocket. I've included the VI that I am using for reference.
Thanks in advance!

If I use a value less than 8192, it does work for me, without crashing at all. Thanks Katharine.
Since it's in the driver, it must mean that it is not dependent on the manufacturer of the camera then, correct? Should I expect all 8k line scan cameras to perform with the same intermittent crashing under NI-IMAQ 2.6?
Thanks again!

  • Hot Swapping Monitor Crashes OSXvnc and light blue screen on reconnect

I was having trouble with using my mini's monitor as a second monitor for my Mac Book Pro. Each time I'd disconnect it from the mini and then plug it into the MBP, I could not longer access the mini from VNC (using chicken of the VNC). I tried running a different VNC server on the mini (Vine), but this didn't work. After connecting and reconnecting the monitor cable on the mini a few times, the screen came back up and I was able to see that the OSXvnc-server process running under root was not responding. Force quitting the process go everything working again. I thought it was a pain to have to reconnect the monitor again to do this since I could still ping the mini from the MBP after disconnecting the display, so I looked around and came up with the following instructions for doing this remotely via the terminal and ssh (make sure you have ssh access enabled on the mini System Preference->Sharing->Remote Login
I couldn't find a solution in one place anywhere on the interweb, so I'm either the only one whose had this problem or the only one who has bothered to write down the "solution".
Instructions for restarting OSXvnc after disconnecting the monitor from the mini
After you disconnect the monitor cable/display, Chicken of the VNC will no longer
pick up the mini; lord knows why.
This solution involves resetting OSXvnc via ssh to the mini from your other
mac. After I disconnect the display, it appears that OSXvnc running under the
ROOT user crashes (not the one running under my username). Therefore, you'll
have to sudo the command to kill the OSXvnc process. It should restart auto-
matically. If it doesn't, you can start it with the additional step below.
    (1) Open a terminal Window
    (2) ssh mini -l <username>
    (3) run top -ousername and look for the OSXvnc-ser process
    (4) write down (or remember... good luck) the PIDs for the different OSXvncs
the one that's crashing is probably the one listed closest to other processes that would be run by root (like the Kernel).
    (5) press 'q'
    (6) type kill -9 <pid> for each one until one of them to kill them if it says you're not allowed to kill it, you've hit the one run by root
    (7) type sudo kill -9 <pid> to kill this one
    (8) wait two seconds and then try Chicken of the VNC again
    (9) If it still doesn't work, go back to the top list and see if there's a root OSXvnc running (I can tell the user of a process from the list)
    (10) navigate to the OSXvnc folder
    Mine is in ./Library/StartupItems/OSXvnc
    (11) Once here, type sudo ./OSXvnc-server & to get the process up and running again
**I haven't tried these, but the problem may be resolved if you reset the PRAM by holding Command-Option-P-R keys right after pressing the power on button OR reset the PMU by unplugging the computer for ten seconds and then holding the power button AS you're plugging it back in.

  • Skype video crashes my GPU driver and causes blue screen.

    Hello,
Installed a new copy of windows and got the latest version of skype for my PC (on wich skype worked just fine, video calls, voice calls, but it was an older version. No hardware changes)
With the new skype, I , for the least, get driver crashes, and for the most, a blue screen, when I just go to options to set up my webcam. As soon as I see the square "loading" my webcam in the options, everything freezes and I get a driver crash or a blue screen.
    Current specs:
    i5 4440, stock clocks
    2x8gb 1333 ddr3 1.5v ram, stock
    R7 260x, stock
500w PSU, not the best quality, But I also tried a 1000w platinum PSU, and same resaults.
last error code I remeber from the blue screen was: 0x00000116
I know it is related to the GPU, but it doesn't have power deficiency, since I manage to run heavy games just fine.By the way, my webcam works just fine on different web sites, so it's not the webcam.
    What I tried:
-Degrading to the oldest supported version by skype
    -Degrading video drivers
    -Using different webcams
-Installed all windows 7 64 bit updates
    edit:
skype 6.14 works, but newer versions crash my GPU drivers and cause blue screen

I would suggest uninstalling Droidcam as it could be the source of some delays assisting in causing the problem.  TDR problems occur when your videocard is unable to respond in 2 seconds for a variety of reasons (heat, tweaks), forcefully resetting the card.  Some people increase this delay in their registry from 2 to up to 10 seconds to give the card time to catch up so that a reset doesn't occur.  You can try this MS fix it which increases this delay. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946

What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

  • When i take photos or videos on my ipod touch with the camera, then i plug it into the computer to sync, the computer shuts down and this blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of other stuff.

When i take a photo or a video using the camera on my ipod touch, the computer (windows xp) shuts down and a blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of oth stuff in white. It doesn't wipe the memory or anything off the ipod. Whenever i sync my ipod without photos or videos it works fine. It also doesn't mind me taking photos off itunes to put on the ipod. I have had a look around and a couple of people say reinstall itunes, but i don't know if i will lose all my songs and apps. Any suggestions of help?

Removing all Apple related software and reinstalling iTunes should bring all needed drivers back: Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Also check for new driver updates for Windows, especially if you have a webcam installed.
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.

Hi You may have a hardware fault take ipad to Apple Store. Ring then first to make an Appointment take box and you purchase paperwork they may give you A replacement. Before you do that Try a Reboot hold down power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo you may need to hold down for up to 30 Seconds But you may need to do this more than once. If it doesn't work take back to Apple Store. Cheers Brian

Not necessarily an iPhone but rather if they have iMessage support at the address you're using.
If you're using an email address they could have an iOS device or a Mac.

  • CS4 Premiere (and Encore) crash on opening with blue screen

I have been having a terrible time with CS4 Premiere Pro crashes over the last month or so.  Initially PP would just disappear from the screen as it was opening up, and if it didn't crash it was quite often after the Matrox RT.X2 logo came up after selecting the project to open.  I had less problems starting a new project than opening a previous one.  Sometimes it would open and crash during the work process without warning...forcing me to save after every change.  Then it got worse.
I looked to the Adobe CS4 bulletin on crashes and it was suggested to update drivers.  The first driver I looked at needed an update (Nvidia Quadro FX1500 256 MB) so I had their download service do the work and installing.  During the process it stopped with 'Nvidia display pannel extension cannot install due to a version mismatch.  Resetting the display drives may solve this problem' without any suggestions on how to do that.  I have 2 Dell 24" monitors slightly different from each other but worked great before all this.
From this point everything got even worse.  System Restore to the previous day did nothing.  Everytime I tried to open Premiere (or Encore) the whole computer crashed (blue screen) and restarted automatically.  I can no longer play any video without crashing -- not an AVI, MOV, WMV, etc.  Not even a finished DVD will play on the computer now.
I have the latest versions updates of Premiere Pro 4.2.1 as well as the Matrox RT.X2 tools.
While the Nvidia driver update situation made the situation worse, I was having problems with Premiere Pro CS4 way before this with 'instant' crashes and no warnings.  Strange that Photoshop CS4 works just fine as this has evolved into a video problem...and I need your help to get PP running again.
I'm not a techie so please reply in novice language.  When CS4 came out it took Matrox quite a while to get off 'beta' tools upgrade so I waited until it was off beta (April 2010) and had my computer hardware expert upgrade my computer with CS4 and the new Matrox install -- way too technical for me to do.  It worked great...until about a month ago when all this started.
I don't think the equipment I have now on my 2006 computer would work with CS5 - maybe you can look below and tell me.
For reference, here is my equipment:  XP Professional SP 3; AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor; 4800+  2.41 GHz, 3.25 GB RAM; Nvidia Quadro FX1500 256MB; 2 Dell monitors - 2407WFP and ST2410; Matrox RT.X2; 2TB WE Raid Edition SATA 16MB; Blu-Ray burner BDR-2058BK; Pioneer 111 Dual Layer DVD Rewrite Burner; Sound Blaster Audigy4 24 Bit; Built in FD controller 2 IDE on the main board.
    Brian

Thanks harm for your suggestions but I'm lost.  I am not a techie.  Went to your thread on building a new computer and it was way way over my head...so I'm back here asking for your suggestions as I couldn't even figure out how to copy/paste my equipment listed above and post this message there instead.
Took my box back to the vendor who put it together for me in 2006 for $6000 and he's going to try and get it up and running again for me.  I told him about your recommendation to lose the Matrox and he doesn't think it's the problem if I want fast rendering, etc.  He says he's used RT.X2 in a ton of systems he's put together and work just fine.  He's going to try getting my present computer running, first of all without any new additions and then make suggestions.  It ran beautifully under CS2, so much so I skipped CS3 and was very late adding on CS4 ... and that's when the problems started.  Perhaps CS4 was just too demanding for my 2006 equipment...which probably means CS5 is even more demanding.
    So....two questions:
    1. If I upgrade what I've got, where do I start?  Or is it worth upgrading or better to start brand new (budget problems no doubt)
    2. If I start brand new, what do I put in the new box?  I looked at your 3 different cost areas and the budget config is probably not what I need but warrior level too high.  Even the middle road you recommened looks a little low for what I want to do making BR disks, but you would know.
I assume some of the current equipment I've got could still be used, perhaps even the Matrox if that keeps costs down by not having to replace it with something else.  There is a new C drive for my programs and a new 2TB internal hard drive for files (which I mirror backup to an external 2TB drive).
Could you make some build recommendations that I could give to my vendor?  Many thanks.
    Brian
ps...how do you copy/paste on this forum?

  • Iphone upgrade has crashed my Iphone and causes blue screen error on PC

I just tried to upgrade my software and half way through my PC crashed. It said a blue screen error had occurred.
Itunes now shows that my phone needs to be restored, but everytime I try to do my PC crashes again. This has now happened three times in 1 hour. I have Itunes v.8.0 on my pc but this hasnt been a problem till now. I am so angry that I have lost everything on my phone due to a problem like this. Can anyone advise how I can restore my phone without totally killing my laptop?

With the blue screen it can be a few things that are interifering with it. First thing unplug anything from the usb ports on your computer and if you have like a logtech webcam make sure it is unplugged and also that if it is built in disable the driver. If you are on a pc you may want to go into device manager and update your usb drivers on your computer.

  • Youtube Crashes my computer. Blue Screen event.

OK, so, I have a Toshiba laptop that runs Windows Vista. The internet browser I use is Mozilla Firefox ( just recently downloaded a new beta version of it too and tried that, didn't fix anything). Every time when I'm on youtube, my computer shuts down and gives me a blue screen (sometimes it takes one hour, two hours, three hours, or more, it's also done it right after the computer starts, and I've tried with only youtube open, so it's not that I'm running too many things, I don't think). Then it restarts itself before I have the chance to read anything on the blue screen and tells me that windows is recovering from an unexpected shutdown. It gives me nothing when I look for a solution, but these are the details it gives me:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: a
    BCP1: 34000000
    BCP2: 00000002
    BCP3: 00000001
    BCP4: 81FBEFF9
    OS Version: 6_0_6002
    Service Pack: 2_0
    Product: 768_1
Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini011611-04.dmp
    C:\Users\MustangGirl\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-39608-0.sysdata.xml
    C:\Users\MustangGirl\AppData\Local\Temp\WERC090.tm p.version.txt
I've looked in the youtube support forum. They referred me to the Microsoft support forum to look for a solution.
Then I figured I should check the manufacturer's website. At first I was sure it was something wrong with my DVD driver, but I fixed that and it's still happening. A little over a week ago, I did a system restore back to factory point, so I'm not convinced that that'll work, however I didn't start having this problem until AFTER I did the restore...so maybe that was it? I don't know.
Someone suggested that I've acquired a virus. I have anti-virus software.
And it can't have anything to do with my computer overheating because I use a cooling pad. Any help at all would be very appreciated!
Oh! And it happens in Internet Explorer as well. And I always check for Windows Updates on my computer. I download them when I have them, but right now I don't have any new important ones.
I was finally able to get the blue screen to stay long enough for me to read it. It said that it was shutting down because it detected a problem and was trying to prevent any damage to my computer. It said that if I had never seen the message before, to just restart, but if I had seen it before to follow a bunch of steps which I don't completely understand...
To check if had adequate disk space (--adequate for what?)
If a driver is identified in the stop message (which I don't know if one is) I need to disable that driver (which I don't know how) or check with the manufacturer for driver update (I'm guessing it means on Toshiba's website?)
Change video adapters (once again...no clue?)
It also tells me to check the hardware vendor for BIOS update (don't know what that is or how to do it)
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing (still don't know)
Then it tells me how to get into safe mode if I need to do it that way.
    Then it says this:
    STOP: 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0x8D8497C0, 0xA6EFB6B8, 0x00000000)
    igdKmd32.sys - Address 8D8497C0 base at 8D803000, DateStamp 4851d0b0
And then says a bunch of stuff about dumping memory something to disk or whatever.
So ya...if anyone knows what any of this means and can help me out...PLEASE DO!
PS. A BETA version of Mozilla Firefox is my default browser right now since in the past I have encountered issues with Internet Explorer

    Hi
To be honest I never had any problems watching the videos from youtube.
You will need to have the flash player plugin and I noticed that new flash player version has been released. So check this
    Update the flash player
Back to BSOD issue it can happen due to hardware or software issue but in your case I think its software related.
If the flash update does not help, recover the unit again and test it with new fresh preinstalled OS.
