IMovie 10.0.7 froze my MacBook Pro :(

Got these error in the console. It happened when I dragged an audio file to the timeline. My MBP (13 inch Mid 2012, 2.5 Ghz i5) froze and had to force shutdown.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

so, I think the crash has also something to do with this error. My mac just got VERY hot while using iMovie and It was actually not even working on anything. All I did is drag an .mts file to the time line.
I noticed this error about 4 times in console, before the mac started getting hot:
iMovie[871]: CoreAnimation: warning, deleted thread with uncommitted CATransaction; set CA_DEBUG_TRANSACTIONS=1 in environment to log backtraces.

  • IMovie 10.0.4 froze my macbook and lost my current project

While editing some video in iMovie 10.0.4 on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.3, 2.3GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD), iMovie "quit unexpectedly" several times (usually while I was trying to use the Ken Burns feature). And twice it completely froze/locked up my entire system. Eventually I had to reboot (both times it happened). The first time, everything was okay, and I was able to continue (although I was extremely annoyed). However, the second time I was forced to reboot, iMovie seems to have lost the project I was working on!!! No project anywhere to be found! All my original footage is still there, but no project. I am extremely upset and frustrated! I have used iMovie for my all video editing for more than four years, and the new iMovie 10 has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with any apple product! It is so unreliable and unstable. Someone please rescue me from this pit of despair!!

Just happened again today. I started over on my project. Got about an hour of work done, when iMovie suddenly froze my entire system. I waited a good 20 minutes to see if it would resolve itself, still was stuck. Then I tried every version of Force Quit I could find, nothing worked. Had to reboot again...........

  • How do I transfer an iMovie to a dvd if my macbook pro does not have idvd?

How do I transfer an IMovie to a DVD if my macbook pro does not have IDVD?

Purchase an external DVD drive or buy the Apple USB SuperDrive.

How do I find iMovie 6.0.3 Themes on my Macbook pro 10.7.5?

Do you have the old iMovie HD installed? The themes would  be part of it:
If you don't have it, that version has not been available for years, so you'd have to try to get a used one if you don't already have it installed.

  • Game froze my MacBook Pro, now I have internet problems-What should I do?

    Hi,
I recently bought a game to play on my macbook pro, it is Sims Castaway Stories for Mac by Aspyr.
My laptop meets/exceeds the requirements to play it.  It only uses little ram and hardrive space.
I installed it a few days ago, my laptop started to get really worked up 30-60 mins into playing the game.  My laptop was making A LOT of noise and got pretty hot, I could hear that it was making a lot of effort to ventilate the heat out and to keep my laptop cool.
About 5 hours into playing the game My laptop completely froze and I had to force shut it down and restart.
Everything seemed fine when I restarted it.  I played the game the next few days and it ran fine for over 5 hours.  However my laptop is still very hot and noisy every time I play the game, and even when I don't have the game open, but just the disc in.
When I have the game running and go on the internet the videos I watch are distorted, images are fragmented + oddly colored, pages load in computer code, and pages won't load occasionally.
I have the same problems with my internet when the game disc is not in my laptop. (disc out= no super hot and hyperventilating laptop problems)
I have even uninstalled the game completely and the internet problems are still there.
I use google chrome, but I have the same problems on safari.
My home windows pc has the same internet problems as well, my second windows pc does not.
Is this a bad internet connection problem or has this game damaged my laptop?
    What should I do?

The Internet is sent to you in packets with an error-detection code on them. Ones that come through with errors are rejected. Distortions and problems with display are caused by problems on your computer itself, not by bad data from the Internet.
Most games, including ones tied to the Internet, work your computer very hard. It will get hot. When it starts to get hot, the fans will go on high. Putting the DVD in the drive makes a motor spin it up and that causes heat as well.
Do you have enough RAM memory to support all the things you are doing at once? If not, your Hard drive will be on all the time to do Paging to simulate more RAM memory, and spinning its motor all the time will make your Mac really Hot.
To cool the underside by convection, at least 3/4 inch (20mm) space is needed underneath. A smaller space is not effective.

  • IPhoto and iMovie won't update on my MacBook Pro OS 10.8.3

I have a MacBook Pro, s/n W8******AGZ, running OS 10.8.3. Ever since the last update of 10.8.2 I've been having problems updating my iPhoto software. Now, just recently, iMovie won't update either.
What is an Apple community guy supposed to do now??? Please anyone with easy to do answers?

I was trying to update iphoto 9.4.3, through the app store. then this message comes up
you have updates available for other accounts
to update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.
i'm the only one on my mac. i only have 1 itunes account so it has nothing to do with any UserID issue. i tried reindexing spotlight. This has been an issue for about a month now.  Then i deleted iPhoto app and securely emptied the trash. All my software was in my macbook pro when it was shipped to me Feb. 2011. These are the two software, in question. iMovie is giving me the same message now.
apple software - iWork    065-7672    no iWork preinstalled
apple software - final cut exp    065-7674    no final cut express (from my Apple receipt)
I hope I gave you all the answers you need to help me, Thank you, TD

  • IMovie doesn't work on my Macbook pro

Hi, I got my MacBook Pro 1 month and a half ago and when I got it, iMovie was working but I didn't use it yet. So, today I tried to open it but it doesn't work anymore. It seems like it's not installed, I searched for some folders and I don't find anything but a folder of plugins for iMovie. I also tried to download it but I'm not able to. I'd like to know if it's possible to get iMovie again? Thanks!
Sorry if there's some mistake, I'm not completely bilingual.

Hello and welcome to the discussions!
Your iMovie09 application should be found in your Applications folder. If it is there, but just 'not working anymore' you do not need to reinstall it.
You cannot download iMovie. It is part of the iLife 09 applications that must be purchased, or it came preloaded on your MacBook.
    Try this:
    Close iMovie
Go to your Home folder (the one with the house icon and your user name)
Within the Home folder locate the Library
    Then Preferences
Then find the file. com.apple.imovie.plist (there may be a number, as imovie8)
Drag this plist file to the Trash. Don't worry. iMovie will create a new fresh preference file when you relaunch it.
Open iMovie and see if it works properly.
If not, post back for more assistance.

  • Why iMovie is not free for my macbook pro( late 2013)

I first deleted it and than i want to download it again, but i realize that iMovie is no longer free for my macbook pro( other apps, like pages, iPhoto and Garageband are still free), bt the way, my macbook pro is late 2013 version.

    You're welcome.
Right the "Mac" "App" "Store". Completely different from the iTunes store and the "i" Device store.

  • IMovie did not come on my macbook pro!!

Okay, so my brother got his macbook pro awhile ago and he let me use it. I noticed that it didn't come with iMovie. I don't want to pay $4.99 for it. I thought every Mac came with iMovie? Is there anyway that I can get iMovie on the laptop without having to pay the $4.99?

    IMovie does cost extra.
However, remember that the latest version of iMovie has had the ability to create chapter markers removed.  I would recommend you purchase iMovie HD 06 or  iMovie 11.  Both available on Amazon as part of iLife.  ( You will get iDVD also. )
If you plan to make movies longer than 15 min. you will want to be able to create chapters.

  • IMovie will not download on my MacBook Pro, 10.8.5.

I try to download from the Mac App Store. It asks me too 'Accept.' I click on it and a password prompt appears. I key in my Apple ID password and wait as a small grey loading sign appears on the top left, after a couple seconds it dissapears and nothing has happened, No download. Nothing. I have re-keyed my password several times. Really annoying, I need iMovie ASAP. Please help.

  • What would cause imovie to keep quitting.  Lately it kept doing it when i was trying to change the text theme on a clip.  I just updated to imovie 11.  I have a macbook pro with OSX 10.6.8

imovie has been quitting unexpectedly lately.....the latest was when I was trying to change the text theme on a clip. I have two external drives for my events and projects.
Also does imovie 11 only let you use the comic book transitions when you set that as your project theme?

  • I have Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and need to create an iDVD but it freezes when I try to open it. Also same with iMovie (8.0.6)??

Can't open either my version of iDVD (and seems Apple no longer has iDVD??) or iMovie (8.0.6) with my MacBook Pro with Mavericks? Is it not possible to create DVDs anymore with Mavericks, which is what I want to do?  Creating DVDs with iDVD was what I do most??  Any help with these issues?
    Thanks
    Hal

Allen, Thanks for answering. When I try this, I get nowhere:
In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Home.
Open the Library folder and then the Preferences folder.
Remove the "com.apple.x.plist" file, where "x" should be replaced with the iLife application you are troubleshooting (for example, "com.apple.iphoto.plist" or "com.apple.imovie8.plist").
Remove receipts and reinstall iLife applications
I cant find either the Library or Preferences folders. Are they invisible and somewhere else?
I search with Spot Light for them,  I also do not find them....
    Advice?
    Thanks,
    Hal

  • How do you edit movie clips in iMovie 11 on MacBook Pro?

I am trying to edit an iMovie project on my husband's MacBook Pro, since I can't get my iMac to work (long frustrating day here!).  I don't see the "edit" tool (looks like a pencil) that my iMac has, and am having trouble figuring out how to select and delete specific clips in the movie.
Thank you so very much, in advance!

  • MacBook pro with QT 7.1 pro won't play dv files exported from imovie

I have been exporting Full Quality dv files from my imovie projects for viewing on my MacBook pro with QuickTime. After upgrading QuickTime from 7.0 to 7.1(pro), these files are now unwatchable. There are jagged horizontal lines along edges, especially edges that are moving. (The desktop Mac at my office does not have this problem, but it is a G5 (rather than Intel) and does not have QTpro. I tried updating everyrhing to latest versions (QT 7.1.6) but stripes persist.
    Has anyone else seen this?

But to answer your question, you might be able to create a ISO of the DVD and burn that to a new DVD.
    Insert your DVD.
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app.
In the left side of the window, select the “DVD”.
Click “New Image” from the Disk Utility toolbar and select where you want to save the temporary image. For “Image Format”, choose “DVD/CD master” and for “Encryption”, choose “none”.
The image extension in the “Save As” box will be .cdr (this is what you want) — click “Save”.
Once the temporary image is created, it will show up on the left side of the Disk Utility window. Select it.
Insert a blank DVD (I prefer Verbatim discs).
Click “Burn” from the Disk Utility toolbar.
Another problem could be that you burned the DVD using a codec that your new machine doesn't have.
Install Perian, VLC and Flip4Mac, that combination will play anything.
Also install Flash for web content and Silverlight for Netflix.

  • I have just bought Macbookpro and when ı connect digital camera from firewire port ı never see the image at macbook pro.

I have just bought the macbook pro. When i connect the digital camera (sony dxc-c33p) to mac from firewire port i never see this camera imovie or quick time programs. Macbook pro never connect the digital cameras via firewire port. What can i do to solve this problem?

    We are sony dealer for profesional medical products and i want to connect sony dxc-c33 digital camera to mac via firewire port. it is very interesting;
    1. i have new imac at the office with latest software. when i have connected the camera it worked perfect no problem.
    2. i have bought new macbook pro last week. when i connected the camera it didn't work.
    3. i have connected the camera to imac mini with latest software. it worked perfect no problem.
    4. finally i went to apple support office and we connected the camera and tried to take movie at four different brand new macbook pro but they didn't work.
Also when we lived this problem we have already contacted with sony support and no problem from this side. Iam still thinking the problem is firewire port at macbook pro. Finally we contacted exclusive dealer of apple in my country but they didn't solve and understand the problem yet until today (it passed 15 days)
