Imovie photo

Hi
I am doing a project in iMovie with both videos and photos.
I took an image from one section and copied to another and now the project doesnt recognise the image. It either shows up another image or is just blank. I dont know if this has been mentioned before but its for a video for my mothers 60th and am starting to lose the will to live!!! (not too many dramatics you understand!!)
If anyone is able to shed any light on this I would be most grateful.

There is an alternative way. You can capture a still frame, put it in iPhoto, and use it in your iMovie project from the Photo browser.

I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library.

If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
• iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
• DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
• Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
• Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD

How to revive iMovie Photo Browser?

I use iMovie 9.0.8 and iPhoto 9.4.2.
The iMovie Photo Browser suddenly does not see photos in Photo Browser.
It sees the iPhoto icon but does not see any libraries.
I now have to bypass Photo Browser by dragging photos from iPhoto directly into iMovie.
Can you tell me how to fix this?

Try emptying iPhoto's Trash (yes, it does have a Trash folder that should be emptied from time to time). I believe I've read elsewhere that this action may fix the problem you are experiencing (although I don't have first hand experience with this).
You will find the command in the iPhoto menu item iPhoto < Empty iPhoto Trash. After emptying the trash, it may also be necessary to empty the Trash on the Mac (Finder > Empty Trash).

Need help with imovie photos extension. I am not able to view the editing tools no matter what I do!!!! Help please ASAP

I Have read a lot of tutorials or whatever but Im not able to view the editing tools from imovie in the photos app. I have tried the trimmer thing and the yellow outline does appear but the only options available are "play, trim or cancel". I really really want to use the filters and stuff so please help me if you can!

Well, everything that you have bought with her Apple ID prior to getting your own Apple ID is forever hers. Apple will not transfer content from one ID to another. But in the case of the Mac, contact iTunes Customer Service and request that they send your issue to the Account Security Team and ask that the Mac be released form your mother's account so you may register it with your account. Then you can accept the iLife apps into your account for any future updates.

IMovie Photo Slideshow -- photos `flicker' when played

I have been working on a photo slideshow in iMovie '08 for a couple of days. Everything has been fine, but all of a sudden today, nearly a quarter of the photos seem to flicker or jump when they come up during the show. The `jump' only lasts a fraction of a second and then goes into the Ken Burns effect I set up.
I have it set up for each photo to be on screen for 3 seconds. Any ideas or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

i am experiencing this as well. the weird thing is i have made 4 image slideshows in iMovie and the first 3 i made are fine. i came back and made a fourth and it has the "jump" in the image as it changes images.
it looks like the original image is being displayed initially and the repositioned as specified in iMovie.
any help is greatly appreciated!

Imovie photo slideshow help

Hello! I am using imovie for the first time to make a photo slideshow set to music. I am up to about 100 pictures and for some reason, each one I add will only display for a few seconds. I change it to 5 seconds, and it will adjust but it will also reduce the # of seconds another slide displays. The more I change, the more that I see are only displaying for 1 or 2 seconds.
Is there a maximum length in imovie or is this something else?
Help is greatly appreciated.

The way transitions work is that they will take half from the slide in front and half from the slide behind.
For example, if you have 3 five second slides, it looks like this:
{5 second slide} {5 second slide} {5 second slide}
The total length is 15 seconds.
If you add two second transitions, it will look like this:
[4 second slide} {2 second transition} {3 second slide} {2 second transition} {4 second slide}
The total length is still 15 seconds.
For many applications, especially in video, this is the way most people want it.
If your prefer that all slides stay at 5 seconds with a two second transition in between, there is a trick. The total length in my example will now be 19 seconds, which is unacceptable for video, but is OK for stills.
To do this, go into File/Project Properties and set the default photo length to be 5 seconds, and set it to apply to all photos in the project, not just ones that are added in the future.

IPhoto slideshow imported into iMovie - photos no longer fit in frame

I imported an iPhoto slideshow into iMovie. The event that is created matches the iPhoto slideshow. However, when I drop the iPhoto slideshow into into the new project, I am losing the tops and bottoms of my photos. For most of the photos this is okay, but for some it end up chopping off heads! I have gone back to iPhoto and adjusted photos to add dead space at top/bottom of photos, but this is not possible in all cases.
I exported from iPhoto using Export/Display mode per the instructor in the One to One class.
This project is a workaround to my original problem of distortion issues when I created the slideshow directly in iMovie.
Have a hard deadline to meet, any help would be appreciated!

When creating a slideshow in iPhoto (for sharing), you can select an appropriate aspect ratio to suit your target, i.e., where you intend to use the slideshow.
After clicking the + button in the bottom left corner of iPhoto and selecting Slideshow, click on the Settings tab. At the base of the Slideshow Settings window you can select the aspect ratio. Mine shows the following choices:
This screen (16:10)
HDTV (16:9)
TV (4:3)
iPhone (3:2)
When creating a slideshow that I intend to import to iMovie '09 I always select the HDTV setting (16:9). This works well, providing you initially position individual slides appropriately in your iPhoto slideshow, e.g, to prevent heads being chopped off!

IMovie Photo Stretch Problem

Some of the photos in my iMovie slide show are being stretch to fill the frame even though I've checked "Fit" for that photo in the adjustment tab. The photos themselves are properly proportioned. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Used to make nice slideshows with iMovie then a few days ago my photo browser failed to see some or all photos in my iPhoto albums.
Have tried googling for a solution but no success.
Very frustrating.

afair, iM works 'til vers 10.3x of MacOS.

• upgrade to iM vers6, which work with ≤10.6x

IMovie, Photos, Audio

I have video in iMovie together with audio coming from iTunes. Is it possible to drop photos in various places in the video WITHOUT splitting the video into clips? I want to end up with video "peppered" with still photos, and intact audio playing in the background, like a music video.

To insert photos, you will have to split the video at the spots where you want the stills to appear. You can then use the playhead to insert the pix at the desire spots, set the duration for each photo and add transitions or not as you wish. If the music is still an audio line separate from the video, the stills will not affect the playing of the music, but you will need to fine tune the timing to make them come out even. If the video and music are already blended in your video, you can highlight the video and use "advanced" to extract audio. This will separate out the sound/music so that you can make the additions to the video without disturbing the sound flow.

when in imovie my photos appear blurry when i play the project..how can that be fixed?

I am really dissatisfied about the Mavs, how can i put it back to my Mountain Lion? since I've downloaded the Mavs, my iMovie, photo, contacts, notes has not been working properly at all. Please help! thanks

i downloaded the Mavs about 2 days ago. it restarted automatically as it stated... i have not really used it again until tonight. and boy was i so ******!
after downloading the new OS update, the list below stopped and wont work properly:

You don't need to downgrade. If it worked in Mountain Lion it will work in Mavericks. Do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Best export setting for iMovie photo slide show for use on Mac or PC

I've searched, no clear answer.... Simply trying to determine the best settings in iMovie 11 to export slideshow (no video, just stills using jpegs) that will ultimately be used primarily for viewing on a computer screen..either Mac or PC. Goal is highest quality..don't care about size.
Am I even asking this question right?

The presets are all h.264. They are pretty good. However, if you know what you are doing, you may get better results using export to QuickTime. It is not likely to look any better, but you may be able to get a smaller file size that looks about the same.

IMovie photos fail to appear in the video?

Why do some photos turn to black when inserted into the project? They fail to appear in the video. Instead, the ones before them replay.

I should add, it was copied in mass storage mode. Maybe I used MTP before.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.
