Imovie11 substituting new movie files with old files?

Hi Bought new imac in dec 2010 with iMovie 9 and used to import movie files from Panasonic SD60 - no problem. Upgraded to iMovie 11 this week and now, imported files are being substituted for old files - the import thumbnails show correct file, but preview pic above is showing different images. Even stranger, it seems that iMovie is reading files which were never imported onto the new mac and have been deleted from SD card? Anybody got any suggestions?

I notice that in "Manage Sites", if I choose a new "Site", then I get all the nice friendly Advanced options (including whether or not to cache) that the first article described. However, if I choose "FTP or RDS Server" (which all of my connections are), then I do not. What I do get instead is a nice friendly pop-up informing me that "Server connections allow you to work directly on the server..." etc etc. Why then if we're working "directly on the server" are we still getting issues with multiple instances of a single file existing? One of the most common annoyances I'm running into is that I can open a file (which of course also opens dependent files), and then immediately go to save that file and receive a warning that the copy of one of the dependent files on the server has changed since my last 'get' operation, and that saving may blah blah blah. Nevermind I JUST opened the file, directly after opening DW and Refreshing my FTP connection (and no one else is working on the site). We've also seen where files and folders with a same name but different case will appear in the structure, which REALLY gives us some buggy grief. If I have the file "css/mystyle1.css" on the server, but I open a file that links to "CSS/myStyle1.ss", it'll create that folder and file parallel to the actual folder and file, and any subsequent changes to the REAL file cannot be saved due to "a file already exists with that name" issue. The obvious fix is to go through all my files and make sure my case structure is universal, but this bugginess is just absolute madness, and the synchronization thing today cost us some MAJOR changes to a file that has not been touched in over a week.

New movies files not working properly

I have a new all in one HP pc with Windows 8. I have completed all pc updates and including latest Java. I have downloaded Itunes 12 and imported my old Itunes library from my network drive. My itunes library was created on an XP system and I still have it mapped to my Network Drive as it is 2TB in size.
The library contents are all fine and everything works. My problem is now any new movies m4v, mp4 which I import does not work. Itunes will upload the files, which then appear in the Home Video section. When I try to add artwork, or move file into 'movies' or even play the film Itunes goes into 'Not Responding' and I have to shut it down from from task menu. This issues only occurs with new movies. New music is fine.
I have tried to use alternative compatibility option none of these work.
Does anybody know how I can get my new movie content to work? btw the files are good as I have tried them on another system and they work just fine.

Can't import new movie-files to iMovie.

I have used IMovie to redirect some movie materials. It worked just fine.
No I have started a new project. For this new project I try to import new movie material (mpeg). IMovie starts optimizing the material (even though I deselected this option). However: nothing happens. How big or small the file is, I try to import: no progress can be seen. (The estimated time is also blanc.)
After waiting for 15 minutes, nothing happened. What is going wrong, and more important: how can I fix this?

The best way to do this is to take a SD card out of your camera and insert it into a card reader. Then you can import directly from the camera. Do this for all future movies you shoot. There is no need for a third party converter. You can also connect your camera via USB and import directly from the camera. In this case, you need to hook up your camera to AC power, not batteries only.
If the only copies you have of your mts files have been removed from the camera and are out of context (you did not preserve all the folders from the camera), then your best bet is to use a converter. The two that I hear most often are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD.

LabVIEW2009: How to replace new Icon Editor with old one?

I really don't like the new icon editor introduced in LabVIEW 2009:
That was nice attempt to make "embedded Photoshop" with lot of features:
But I really don't like it, because:
- it opened EVERY TIME on the RIGHT monitor (I have three monitors, and primary monitor in the middle)
- it takes lot of time for launch (old icon editor was started momentally)
- from usability point of view - it was wrong to place tools on the right side. Commonly they located on the left side (and only in old icon editor, but also in imageprocessing software like Adobe Photoshop). Also front panel UI design... hmmm... this can be better...
- some bugs or changed functionality (for example - select ROI, then press <Del> button - nothing happened)
etc...
Is it possible to replace it with old one:
Ideal solution will be - simple switch between both editors (some introduced features are not so bad).

Go into <LabVIEW>\Resource\Plugins and rename lv_icon.vi. This is the plugin that's called when you invoke the icon editor, and if it's not there, LV reverts to the built-in editor (at least today. I'm not sure how many versions ahead they will keep the code).
You should note that the editor is open source, so you can go in and change what you want (or save yourself time and use the changes others have made, such as PJM's thread here. You may also want to look at the other discussions in that group).

CAN"T EXTEND RANGE OF NEW AIRPORT EXTREME WITH OLD AIRPORT EXPRESS

Hello Everyone,
I am having a heck of a time getting my new network setup with this new 802.11n Airport Extreme... Here is what I currently have going on:
I have a G5 1.8 it is my main computer and in ROOM #1... Connected to it is my NEW AIRPORT EXTREME via an Ethernet cable to one of the available ports. Also connected to the NEW AIRPORT EXTREME is my CABLE MODEM... This works great, It is setup and I have internet via Ethernet... I CAN EVEN CONNECT IN ROOM #2 with a PC and an Apacer wireless adapter...
Here is the problem
When I try to add an Airport Express V6.3 to extended the range of my network it can NEVER seem to connect to the network. I have checked the option to allow extension of the NEW AIRPORT in AIRPORT UTILITY and tried both with WEP security and with NO SECURITY... I cannot get the Express to extend the range of my network period... It has an error when joining the network???
Can Anyone Please Help Me?
PS. The reason to extend the network is so I can use the Notebooks in ROOM #3 and so a TIVO can see the Network! It is not far away!

Setting up new Arch repo with old package backup?

I love Arch and want to give something back. I can't program and don't have any luck finding questions on the forum that I know how to answer So I thought maybe I could set up an Arch repo. I looked around for a HOWTO on doing this but couldn't find anything. How do all the repo's get their packages from the main Arch repo?
As of late I have been working with dav7 to set up an old package repo. More like a place to download old packages at http://schlunix.org/arch-linux/i686/ he supplied all the packages. There are a lot of them there but obviously it is only as complete as the packages he uses.
So... 1, how would I got about setting up a repo? And 2, is there any kind of nifty script I could use to instead of deleting obsolete packages, just move them to an "old" folder so people could search it if they needed an old package?

Thats what I'm trying to do, make and keep a real backup mirror for the benefit of all Archers. My hosting account has 550GB space (grows 2GB/week) and 6TB monthly bandwidth (grows 40GB per week). I don't know if that will be enough... but I would imagine that would hold quite a few packages.
I was checking out rsync, and when I do "rsync archlinux.org::" it does say that only authorized mirrors are allowed to access it. So right now I'm looking for another mirror that will let me use rsync. But in the meantime who would I talk to to find out if it would be possible/helpful to the community/worthwhile to become an official mirror vs just syncing off a mirror that syncs off of archlinux.org?
Also, assuming I get this all working, how do I update the packages.txt file? Would I just use the one that I would get by rsync'ing off of whatever server I end up using? Trying to figure out what the easiest way to keep all the old packages would be. If I do what iphitus suggested and just not delete the old packages but leave them in the same directories as the current packages will that cause any problems (as far as people being able to do a "pacman -Syu" to my server)?

New itunes installation with old itouch - cant sync without deleting - HELP

hey guys...
after a recent virus went through my pc, a friend had to delete heaps of programs and itunes was one of them. unfortunately he didnt back up my music, and now i have just re-downloaded the new version of itunes and my 2000 songs have gone!
they are all still on my itouch - but i cant even play them now through my pc - is there anything i can do??

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Once you are safely connected, if you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to the iPod and iPhone. At our company we now have 2 labview programmers -- me and my boss. We soon
will have 2 more. We are worried that we will lose work if some files get

sometimes from one machine to another. If one person rewrites a program on
one machine and someone else rewrites a program on another machine (perhaps
even the same program), then they both copy to the net directory one may
lose their work. Even worse, if an old program is written back onto a
machine then we may take bad data till the error is discovered! Does anyone

for this problem?

You may want to look into upgrading to the Professional version of LV. It
includes tools for Source Code Control(SCC) along with documents that describe
various techniques for group development. The Pro verison includes
tools that
help with group development. The tools fit reasonably well with KISS development
procedures, and can also be used to form strict tracability processes
for the
code when that is necessary. This allows you to adopt the different procedures
over time as you want and can adapt them to your group's style of working.
The simplest tool uses a file server, the net directory, but instead of copying
up all of the files, it keeps track of download dates and does date comparisons
so that it can upload only the changed files, and warns when a file on
the server
has been changed by someone else and by you. The Professional edition also
has a tool for comparing two VIs to see the differences between them; so
that the independent changes can be combined, losing no work.
Beyond that, it also supports a couple standard SCC tools like Source
Safe, so that you can keep multiple versions on the server in case you need
to quickly access old VI versions. It includes other stuff too, but that
is what web pages are for.

[SOLVED] repo-add replaces newer version package with old ones

Say I have two versions of nspr.
$ ls -1 nspr*.pkg.tar.xz
nspr-4.10-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
nspr-4.9.6-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
When I run repo-add on both of them, version 4.9.6 will be the one remaining in the database.
$ repo-add custom.db.tar.gz nspr*.pkg.tar.xz
==> Extracting database to a temporary location...
==> Adding package 'nspr-4.10-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz'
-> Computing checksums...
-> Removing existing entry 'nspr-4.9.6-1'...
-> Creating 'desc' db entry...
-> Creating 'depends' db entry...
==> Adding package 'nspr-4.9.6-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz'
-> Computing checksums...
-> Removing existing entry 'nspr-4.10-2'...
-> Creating 'desc' db entry...
-> Creating 'depends' db entry...
==> Creating updated database file 'custom.db.tar.gz'
I think here the natural order should be used, something like
$ repo-add custom.db.tar.gz $(ls -v nspr*.pkg.tar.xz)
as this is the expected behaviour from most users.

Thanks for your reply. Now I agree repo-add should just process the files according to the order given by the shell.
To anwser your question, I need to make a local repository regularly to be shared with my other machine, because I have a very limited Internet quota and the sharing roughly halves the downloads. Usally I just use the wildcard for all the packages in the cache, and it works fine as long as the package version does not jump to 10+ like the above example. 'ls -v' will do the job for me. Cleaning the old packages could be another option, but occasionally I need to revert some package back to an old version.

New Airport Extreme with old Time Capsule?

I just bought a new 802.11ac Airport Extreme to increase the speed and range of my home network. My network currently runs on an 802.11g Time Capsule. I would like to continue to back up to the old Time Capsule. Should I just set up the old Time Capsule with wireless off in bridge mode or should I place the Time Capsule somewhere else in the house strategically, leaving wireless on, to improve range? Someone told me adding a G-speed access point or client to the network would slow things down.

You can do either. If you hare happy with the coverage of the 802.11ac AirPort Extreme, then I would recommend that you go with your first idea. I would connect the Time Capsule directly to the new Extreme using an Ethernet cable, disable its wireless and reconfigure it as a bridge.

Synchronisation - new Mac Pro with old iPhone

Is it possible to upgrade to a new macbook pro and use the old HD from my current macbook. I would like to get the performance upgrade without having to reload all my programs and other things. It will also make it easier to put the new HD from the new macbook pro into the old mb and have it as new without my info inside and have all the latest software installed and clean. Also , what is the max amount of memory on a 15" mbp.

The OS version being the same is irrelevant - the hardware is different. One example - your new MBP has dual graphics cards. The 'old' OS won't support that, because the hardware wasn't present on the old machine, so necessary components (call them drivers if you like) weren't installed.
To be blunt, if you swap the drives or clone over the old system, you will have problems. You can do that with _the exact same model_ but not an older one.

New COPA datasource with old append extractstructure

Hi Experts,
my problem is to add a new field to a COPA data source with KEB0.
I know that I have to delete the data source and install a new one, but I cannot as-sign it to the old extract structure. And if it is not possible, I need to define new DTP and Transformations in my BI system, because of new replicate (PSA).
I hope someone has an idea.

it is not a issue to delete the datasource simply activate the datasource and replicate in BI/BW and change the transformation and simply activate the DTP and schedule DTP

Adapter - New lightning dock with old iphone

Hi all
I have new speakers with an iPhone 5 dock / lightning adapter.
I'd like to use my old iPhone 4 or iPod 3 to play music on this device.
I can see plenty of adapters out there that transfer from the old connector to the lightning connector, but are there any adapters out there that transfer from the new lightning connector to the old?
