Impact on import if there is a block corruption error in exported dump file

Hi All
I got an exported file(exp utility) from production database and in the log it is showing the error
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 1578 encountered
ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 29, block # 387036)
ORA-01110: data file 29: '+ORAFILES/prod/datafile/data.1750.715846723'
ORA-26040: Data block was loaded using the NOLOGGING option
There were two such errors. At the end of the export it is giving the message "Export terminated successfully with warnings"
I want to if I do an import using imp will there be any issues with the import.
will the import complete successfully.
The database version is 10.2.0.2.0

Samrat

You may try the import and hope it works out, but you and your DBA should address the ORA-26040 error message. Identify the segments that relate to both errors you encountered (using file id and block number) and figure out the what you may want to do if those are not index segments. Here is a link to a similar issue:
ORA-26040: Data block was loaded using the NOLOGGING option

So after analysing this log file, i created
the appropriate drives and folders... as the

And i started to [b]IMPORT ONE MORE TIME. with:

    COMMIT=Y INDEXFILE=c:\temp\FOLD_1\BOO_idx.sql

after that i could not see the users nor the

and the following message appeared in the log file:

    Import terminated successfully without warnings.
and only 2 new tablespaces (originally 3) were
created without any data in ( i check that in
the Oracle Storage manager : the tablespaces exit
with 0.002 used space; originally 60 M for each !!)
    so,
How to import data (with full import option) succefully
MORE THAN ONE TIME from an exported dump file ?
Even if we have to overwrite tablespaces , tables and users.
    thank you very much

  • How to overcome from Data block corruption error

    Hi,
I am using one table when i was deleting one row, i encountered "Data block corruption error".
Kindly suggest solutions for the same.
    Regards,
    Abhishek

If you have a recovery manager backup, then you can perform a block recovery operation, after the information shown on the error message where the file# and the block# are displayed you can perform the block recovery operation.
Syntax for the block recovery operation can be found here : BLOCKRECOVER
In case of an index block, it is enough to rebuild the index.
In case you have a regular backup with archivelog enabled you can restore the damaged datafile and perform a simple file recovery operation.
One more additional tip that can be used, you may be interested in using the DBMS_REPAIR package unit.
Finally, I suggest you to check the complete datafile using dbv (Database Verifier) utility to find out if there are more corrupt blocks in your datafile, and proactively run this utility as a maintenance task.

    Hi Srinath,
When i observed the create table syntax of external table from import dump log file, it show few lines as below. I could not understand these special characters. And create table definationis failing with special character viz ORA-00911: invalid character
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    LOCATION (EV02_PRICEMARTDATA_CSV_CON:'VPA.csv').
I even observed the create table DDL from TOAD. It is same as i mentioned earlier

    Hi,
We are facing block corruption error file system file. I rtied to identify the corrupted object using dba_extents but that query is also giving the block corruption error for the same block. we are running the database in noarchivelog mode and we don't have backup.

you can use dbverify to check which blocks are corrputed and see below to know how to solve it http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=how+to+resolve+block+corruption%2Boracle&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

  • Export dump file of 8.x unable to Import in 9i

    Hi,
I have Oracle 8.x version export dump file.
When i try to import this file in Oracle 9i db, it fails everytime. I have tried with all possible options in import utility. When i start import it shows as a active jobs in the jobs list but after few seconds it disappears from active tab and goes to failed list. It doesnot even gives the reason for failure. No error messages also. I don't know what shoud i do as i want to upgrade my 8.x data to 9i. I have currently only 9i installed on windows 2000 Server.
Please reply to my query as sson as possible.
    Thanks

i beleive, u are using OEM or any other tool to do the export and import.
FIRST make sure, u have configured OEM properly to handle the batch jobs.
easiest way is to use the command line utilities.
use exp of lower version to export the source database.
create similiar users and tablespaces ( tablespace names is not a must) in target database.
use the same lower version of imp to import into target database.

  • When I try importing a CD following message comes up: error occurred whilst converting file " name of fist song on CD" You do not have the privilege to make changes.  Any ideas?  thanks  John.

  • Is there anyway we can check the validity of dump file in Unix system

    Hi,
I have taken export of 2 tables which are huge in volume. one of the table seems to be successfully exported yet another one failed due to space scarcity. Since both the tables share a single dumpfile.
    I wanted to know.
    1. Can we use the same dumpfile to import the table which is successfull or it can not be used because the second table got error while exporting?
    2. Is there any way we can check the validity of dumpfile in unix plateform.
    Your reply is highly appreciated.

Please check the export log backup. If it says that export terminated successfully, then the dump may be fine.

  • Data Block Corruption error

    Hi
I have a partitioned table which has bitmap indexes on it.
Some of the bitmap indexes are giving datablock corruption error. Currently I am dropping the index and recreating it.
Is there any other way to resolve this issue?
    Thanks.

What type of system is this - OLTP or Datawarehouse ?
Since you did not post the exact Oracle error received, lets try some educated guess. Are you getting this error:
ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # string, block # string)
Cause: The data block indicated was corrupted, mostly due to software errors.
Action: Try to restore the segment containing the block indicated. This may involve dropping the segment and recreating it. If there is a trace file, report the errors in it to your ORACLE representative.
Did you see if there was something more useful in the trace file (if created)?

  • Disk Utility reports a block count error for a deleted file?

I carry out a regular scan of the hard drive and on occasions disk utility reports that a file has a bad block count. It is usually a large file like a CR2 or TIFF and is also one which has been deleted? Not only put in the trash but emptied the trash as well.
The only other thing of note, which I havn't checked if it is relevent to my problem, is on occasion when I go to empty the trash it reports it can't be fully emptied as one of the files is still in use, even though it isn't? If I use secure empty trash it dletes the file.
    In case its relevent:
I use Canon's DPP & ACR for CR2 files and PS CS6/CC for TIFF's. I also delete TIFFS from within Bridge CS6/CC.
Both Disk Utility and Drive Genius report the SMART status as being OK.

  • Is there a way I can edit my exported PDF files from FormCentral?

I have created a form and have downloaded as a PDF file to my computer. However, I am not allowed to edit my file under Adobe Acrobat. Please help....

I have created a PDF file by Forms Central. I did what you have instructed and it worked!! thank you very much!!! However, now I am having another problem. In Adobe Acrobat, I selected the File, Save a Copy, then I was able to edit the file. I have added a signature field at the end of the page. Then, I save as it as Reader Extended Feature PDF file. So, I can send this file to other people in my company to sign it with Adobe Reader.
The problem is whenever they open the file with Adobe Reader, it shows "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader.  The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available.  Please contact the author for the original version of this document." Everytime, I send this file through email, the security setting changes, which the reader extended feature will disable by itself. I am so confused.....
I was trying to find an answer online, but I am still couldnt fix this. Please help!!! Thank you for your help my friend!!!!
