Impdp hangs at definig state

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to do full import for APPS R12.1.1 db 11202, but it hangs at defining state for more than 72 hrs, v$session_wait and v$session_longops show 100% done for worker. There is no error in alert log. Please help.

You may have to trace it and see which step is taking longer ... search support site for details on tracing.
Also i am not very clear on what do you mean by defining? As impdp starts, it checks dumpfiles and internal objects directory contained therein to make sure everything is in place. If your dumpset is large it could take some time but 30 hours is a suspect. Like Srini mentioned, we need to know your impdp command and first 20 lines of log file contents.
This is better done before you get to tracing.

  • IMPDP hangs but no error messages

I have completed several schema level imports into a new 11.1.0.6 database on a new Windows Server 2003 64 bit server quad core with 16GB of RAM, but one schema gets to the "TABLE_DATA" stage and seems to hang, it never progresses but does not stop or display any error messages either.
The impdp output is below, that is as far as it gets, then stops. Plenty of tablespace available, no issues can be seen.
It is exported from an 11.1.0.6 database as well.

I cannot figure out whats wrong. I can see the table definitions get created when I look at the user's schema in sql developer, but the tables don't have any data in them, so I eventually killed the job.

    Hi,
The issue has nothing to do with statistics or indexes. The job was in the process of starting to load data. If you just killed the job and did not remove the datapump_job information, the job should be restartable. Can you try that? You would use this command:
    impdp user/password attach="USERBOB"."USERBOB_04MAR"
you will get a command prompt like:
    IMPDP>
    You want to type
    IMPDP> CONTINUE
    at the prompt.
The part that is strange about your message is this:
The last line in your log file is:
    Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/TABLE/TABLE_DATA
which means that the job was in the process of loading data into the tables. But the status shows that tables are being worked on.
    Job: USERBOB_imp3_03MAR2010

It looks like table userbob.scheduler$_job_art is trying to be created. Can you check to see if this table exists.

  • VMs on Failover Cluster hanging in "Locked" state

I'm managing a Windows Server 2012 R2 2-node cluster that is backed up using a separate DPM 2012 R2 server. All VMs are on Cluster Shared Storage.
I've noticed that some VMs keep hanging in a "Running (Locked)" state (in FOCM, in HVM it shows a "Backing up..." state). Things I noticed while the VMs are in this state are:
every subsequent DPM backup will fail (it looks like DPM is the cause of this "Locked" state)
the VM can't be moved to another node
if the VM is backed up "Online", I can see AVHD files -- the VHD files have the date of the last succesful DPM backup
if the VM is backed up "Offline", I can't find any snapshots (the VHD files have the date of the last succesful DPM backup, which is weird, since the data in the VM is actually changing)
The only way out of this situation is to shut down the VMs and reboot both cluster nodes. Of course, this isn't something that I like to do on a weekly basis.
    My questions:
    - What can I do to prevent this "Locked" problem? (the last 2 months I've experienced this problem with 5 different VMs)
    - Is there another way to get out of the "Locked" situation? Preferably one that doesn't require a cluster reboot.
    - Are there any logs I can check to get more information about this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

I don't have a couple of those hotfixes. Mainly because the hotfix page states that I only should install it if I experience the problems mentioned -- which isn't always the case.
I have a service interval coming up and will install the relevant patches. I'll report back when I have new information.
    Thanks so far!

    WHERE job_name = 'TEST_JOB';
    JOB_NAME  SESSION_ID  RUNNING_INSTANCE, CPU_USED
TEST_JOB   null          null          null Job is remaining in hang state, could you please let me know possible reason?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
Actually your syntax is exactly right for running a single run-immediate job.
it looks like the slave running your job may have crashed or terminated unexpectedly. You should do a stop_job (force=>true) on your job and you should look through your job slave trace files j0trc for reasons why your job slave did not finish the job. You can also try grepping your job slave traces for the job name 'TEST_JOB' to find the right trace.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

    Hi Mourad,
Usually, in such cases a full thread dump of the dispatcher and server nodes is very helpful. For more info - SAP Note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/710154">710154</a>.

  • WCF-SQL Adapter Hangs in Active State for hours

I'm at a new client, and doing a simple test with a content-based-routing solution picks up a file, maps it, and is supposed to update a SQL database.  The WCF-SQL send port is stuck in the "active" state.  No messages in EventLog.  If there's
an issue, I don't know why it doesn't just suspend.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Neal Walters

    Hi Neal,
    Few things to check IMO,
Check if the host instance is running properly
Check the version of the Host instance, If required make the host instance to 32 bit.
If it is using any schemas then make sure the binaries are deployed and gace'ed
Try to restart the BizTalk host instance to see if it makes a difference
Check if your SQL Database Instance is UP and running , Make sure the BizTalk service Account has proper rights on the SQL server and has execute permission on the SQL Stored procedure (if using one)
Check if you have anything on the SQL server event viewer.
Try to complete you routing of file using a send port also which will copy the input message to a temp folder location , Try  Using Failed Message Routing to see
    if it helps!
    There is an article
Configuring a Port Using the WCF-SQL Adapter for further reference.

  • Standby CM Hangs in pending state

I have a Standby CM running 4.0.9 that we just installed. Tried to upgrade it to 4.0.19 and it just sat there in pending state for a long time. It appeared to be hung because I couldn't get to it remotely any longer. Rebooted the box and set it up as an AA instead. The game plan was to get it upgraded, then convert it to a Standby CM. So now the box sit's, showing online via the CM as a Standby CM (even though it's set to AA) and it still sits there in pending state. How can I get this resolved? TIA

The Primary CM is running 4.0.19. I managed to blow it away in the Primary CM. Forced a CMS de-registration on the AA. Re-registered it as an AA and got the code upgraded to 4.0.19. (I did hit what I believe is a bug her which I will explain later). Now I need to change it's funtion to a Standby CM but I don't know if I can do this from the Primary CM.
So the bug I hit was that when the WAAS was rebooted to load the new code I lost connectivity for a long time. Check the switch that it was connected to and saw the interface was up/down. Bounced the interface on the WAAS and it came back. Fortunate for me the box is in our DC. Had this been remote I'm not sure a bounce of the switch interface would have worked. FYI - I have my interfaces on an etherchannel with the load-balancing set to ip-dst (round-robin didn't work).

  • Script is submitted but hangs in submitted state

    Hi,
I have requested a workspace via apex.oracle.com. I uploaded a script, that try to run it, but it remains in submitted state... It does not go to executing or completed state. The workspace was requested last week.
    Anyone an idea?
    Christophe

    Christophe,
Could you provide credentials for the workspace? My guess is that you're on the screen after the job was submitted. I don't believe this page is "refreshed" by AjAx or anything. You have to go back to the listing of scripts and you should see a results column that has a number you can click on.
There you should see the status as complete...

  • FireFox 8.0.1 consistently hangs in specific circumstances

    Dear Sirs/Madams,
I have a lot of tabs open in use all the time, and normally things work relatively acceptable (not great since after a while FF always crashes). But recently, when I click on certain tabs, FF becomes immediately non-responsive with the typical system mention about that in the title of the window; CPU is fully busy with FF process.
This happens absolutely every time -- no matter if I restart FF, upgrade it from 8.0.0 to 8.0.1, restart my computer, whatever. The link in the tab which causes the hang is this (works perfectly normal in other browsers):
    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/violetblue/great-debate-postmortem-kindle-fire-vs-ipad/847#comments
However, this is not site specific problem, since there is at least one another site with the tab which causes same effect. All other links/tabs on that site and on this ZDNet site work normally in FF, nothing hangs.
The most interesting thing is that if I open this link anew, then new tab is created and no hang happens. But when I try to switch to the old tab with the same link, it always hangs.
I can not close that old tab to fix this problem, since once I click on it, FF does not even redraw the window to show that the chosen tab is now active. It immediately hangs.
Is there way to cure this tab without killing my whole session? It has a lot of tabs I need and opening them all anew is not realistic option.

Not sure if this would be any helpful, but Process Monitor utility only returns "Profiling" activity of FF process when it is hang/fully busy state.

    Similar problem - my details:
I got a new HP midrange desktop 5 days ago, core I7 2600 8GB Win7 SP1 64b, nvidia GT545 3GB. (My point of comparison is my old HP HDX18 laptop, core 2 duo T9400, 4GB, Vista SP2 64b, nvidia 9600M 512MB. It's been running Firefox exclusively sinc early 2009, with every upgrade allowed as soon as Norton add-ons are available - usually a week or 2 after FF release. 8.0.1 still works great on it.)
I installed FF and began researching problems with audio and usb 3.0 drivers. FF was running slow, almost dialup-slow, which raised concerns about the wifi card. So first I did router pings on both systems - both get about 10ms for a 10000b ping so I ruled out the network as a source of the problem. I got my audio and usb 3 working, and have been troubleshooting FF now for 3 days.
    Symptoms are:
Very slow content load (right after loading same content quickly on the laptop).
Unresponsive FF window for 10+ seconds at a time - buttons/links/scroll don't work, can't move window, typed characters are ignored.
Ending the FF process takes 20-30 seconds, and sometimes never ends. When I delete the process tree, it sometimes still will not restart until I reboot, sometimes more than once. On the laptop, 5 seconds.
On the plus side, no outright crashes.
Here's what I've tried with zero success:
    Safe mode.
    Complete uninstall & (standard) reinstall.
    Config tweaks to browser.sessionstore.interval, network.http.max-connections.
    Delete prefs.js to reset defaults.
IE9 performance is OK. Installed Chrome but unfortunately I've developed an unaccountable hostility to apps that have no UI.
My ISP is 3Mb DSL with horrible latency, so the TryAgain addon is a must. Speed test results are identical to laptop.
    Any thoughts? Thanks, CC
[Edit 17Dec2011]: Well I've given up on FF for now except when security is important - hopefully whatever is wrong with it will be fixed in the next release. I'm getting super response with IE9 and it also correctly renders pages every time - with FF I have always had to constantly refresh to get pages to display correctly.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 - impdp - Unusable index exists on unique/primary ...

    Hi All,
Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 - during impdp the following failure appears:
    Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/TABLE/CONSTRAINT/CONSTRAINT
ORA-39083: Object type CONSTRAINT failed to create with error:
ORA-14063: Unusable index exists on unique/primary constraint key
    Failing sql is:
ALTER TABLE "MY_SCHEMA"."MY_TABLE" ADD CONSTRAINT "MY_TABLE_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("ID")
USING INDEX PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255
    STORAGE(INITIAL 1048576 NEXT 1048576 MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645 PCTINCREASE 0 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1 BUFFER_POOL DEFAULT)
    TABLESPACE "MY_TBS"
    Question:
The dump file doesn't contain index tree, and impdp should just create index(es) as it appears in the metadata information.
So what's the point to flush this error?

Yes, the index is appearing on the dba_indexes table, however its state is 'UNUSABLE'.
It looks impdp takes its state from origin metadata, puts into destination, and even is not trying to rebuild it.
Of course, after running ALTER INDEX REBUILD its status was changed to VALID.
So, what's the point impdp tells about its state? It can be hundreds of unusable indexes, why it's not just rebuilding it?
