Impleamenting YOY trend for bar chart

Hi ,
We have a bar graph , where we are populating Revenue(measure) against year (dimension) .Now , we want to achieve a Year on year trend % in the bar chart . i.e ,
*(Current year value of revenue - Previous year value of revenue)/(Previous year value of revenue)* 100*
Is it possible by , using time series functions such as period rolling , to date or somthing else .
OBIEE version : 11.1.1.6.0

By Using Ago function you can solve it.create time dimension then set add logical calc like below
For Example,
Previous year value of revenue
Ago("Sales"."Base Measures"." Revenue" , "Sales"."Time"."Year" , 1)
Current year value of revenue
Ago("Sales"."Base Measures"." Revenue" , "Sales"."Time"."Year" , 0)
then add one more logical column then
((Current year value of revenue - Previous year value of revenue)/(Previous year value of revenue)) then divid by 100

Then try this.
Create a formula. Inside Just use the Round function to round your Keyfigure.
Then use this formula to be displayed in the Chart Experts, Data Tab on the Show Value column.

I would try and prepare a template file with everything you need.
Then make copies and edit the numbers.

Stacked Bar Chart - Values of the Bar

Hi,
I have a stacked bar chart with columns as "Project Name", Rows as "Stages", and measures as "Cost". I have different stages in the X axis and the Projects are stacked for each stages. When I scroll my mouse over the stacks it shows me the "Cost" of the project. Is there a way I can show both the "Project name" and the "Cost", when I roll my mouse over the stacks?

Bar chart and pie chart in same screen at a time

hi experts,
I am trying to display the bar chart and pie chart in two separate containers in same screen .I wrote code for this in PBO of screen by using the function module GFW_PRES_SHOW , but it is showing one chart at a time which is lastly executed in the PBO.
I need to display two charts in two container at a time by calling the same function modules two times first time for bar chart second time for pie chart by changing the parameter
presentation_type = 1 for bar chart
presentation_type = 31 for pie chart.
please help me in this regard asap.

Hi..
Instead of using the FMs .. you should use the Object oriented approach for the same.
Brief steps:
You should have 2 control areas and 2 containers.
Define different instances of 2 controls and attach them to the 2 containers.
Call individual methods to display the controls in PBO.
This should show both at a time. It is really simple.
As an example you can go to SE38. From the (sap) menu go to Environment -> Examples -> Control Examples.
Here you will see lot of examples.

So when i was binding for those values for one destination column could be same
in spreadsheet then its getting below error.
I tried formula for one destination to other columns
in spreadsheet also but that's not allowing to formula for binding destination .

Got another issue in BI launch pad .
one Webi report migrated from R2 environment to BO 4.1.when open that report in BI launch pad
working perfect but when report was edit in the query level and run the all queries its asking context selection
If i selected all the context and run all the queries then again getting another issue.
Why its asking Query Context in Query prompt level?

Alternate way to Stacked Bar Chart

Hi All,
on HTML DB 2.0 we can make a stacked bar chart (this allows to have multiple series for bar charts).
But I am having HTML DB 1.5.
Is there any other way to create a stacked bar chart on 1.5 version?

I do not believe that there is an out-of-the-box feature that would suffice your needs.
However, the work-around is relatively simple, although it needs a bit of coding.
If you are sourcing the image directly, the image could be refreshed using Javascript settimeout function. If you are sourcing the location of the image from an iCommand, you could use the update event of the applet.

Stacked 100% bar chart - Problem with datatips for zero value data points

I have a stacked 100% bar chart that shows datatips in Flex 4.   However, I don't want it to show datatips for
data points with zero values.   Flex 4 shows the datatip for a zero value data point on the left side of a bar if the data point is not the first in the series.
Here's the code that illustrates this problem.    Of particular concern is the July bar.    Because of the zero value data point problem, it's not possible to see the datatip for "aaa".
Any ideas on how we can hide/remove the datatips for zero value data points ?        Thanks.

Anychart bar charts generated for each row of a report

I am looking for ideas on, or existing examples of how the above requirement could be implemented in Apex 3.2.1.
My initial thoughts are to:
- use a pipeline table function as the report region source
- generate the JavaScript for creating bar charts with one series of 48 points, as a column returned by the table function.
The source data will be unlikely to be more than 15-20 records pulled from a well indexed underlying record set of several million records.
My worry is that this may not be a particularly responsive solution and I would like to know if anyone can validate or improve on my approach?

You would need to define a separate column to hold the required output for each possible parameter value in the first column.
Each column would need to be conditional, where the condition is based upon the value in the first column, which you can reference using #column_name# syntax.

Break for Horizontal Axis Labels in OBIEE 11g Bar Chart

I have a vertical bar chart created in OBIEE 11g. The horizontal axis (x-axis) is a compound of Scenario, Year, and Month. The chart width is already long enough so it cannot be made any longer.
The chart looks like this (the label of horizontal axis is staggered):

I could not try this yet, but how about 'Enabling the Contains HTML Markup' for the columns for Heading and including a '</br>' tag at the end of the name.
Ex: Column - >Properties -> column Format -> Column Heading -> Enable Contains HTML Markup -> Column Heading's suffix =less than symbol /br greater than symbol (Oracle forums is even break the line too!! ;) So included the text)

Different colors for same series in bar chart / "Deviation" Chart

Hello,
I calculate the absolute deviation for a certain characteristic - let's say 0CUSTOMER - with respect to an average value on a certain key figure - let's say "Sales".
Let's say, the average "Sales" over 3 customers is 100 .
Customer 1 has "Sales" = 150 (-> deviation = +50)
Customer 2 has "Sales" = 80 (-> deviation = -20)
Customer 3 has "Sales" = 70 (-> deviation = -30)
I'd like to show the positive and negative deviations (which build up one series) in a bar chart that is able to show the positive values in a different color than the negative values (green for positive; red for negative).
I tried the bar chart of the WAD, but I have no idea, how I can have values of the same series be shown in two different colors depending on their value (e. g. positive vs. negative).
Is there a way to smartly solve this problem?

I've already seen that value range functionality in the chart editor. But actually I'm doing my first steps concercnig the WAD and chart design - still quite unexperienced user
I will give it a try with the value ranges... perhaps it helps me solving the problem. I will report on the outcome here.

Maximum Rows for series in Charts (Cluster Bar Charts)

Question
Is there a way to dynamically define the "Maximum Rows" value for all the series in a cluster bar chart? I tried putting "&item_name." into the "Maximum Rows" field for a series, but get an Application Builder error indicating that the value should be numeric. I would like to set the "Maximum Rows" for all the series in a chart "on the fly".
Details
I have one horizontal cluster bar chart with 4 series on my page that has a variable number of rows i.e. the number of bar clusters that I want plotted varies based on the user's criteria. For one set of data there may be 10 clusters. If the user changes the criteria, the chart could then have 20 clusters. I have the "Maximum Rows" field for all 4 series in the chart set to 31 rows.
The Problem
The chart with only 10 clusters is two thirds whitespace. The 10 clusters fills up the bottom third of the chart. The top two thirds of the chart is blank. The chart with 20 clusters fills up the chart with no whitespace. The chart with 40 clusters gets the top 10 clusters cut off and only displays the bottom 31 clusters.
Any Suggestions
If you have any suggestions how I can accomplish this, please post them. Currently I am not interested in going outside of HTML DB. I may end up doing that though to get a more dynamic charting tool.

At this time, this is not possible to dynamically set these charting attributes, however, an internal enhancement request has been created requesting that this functionality be incorporated into the product. The current plan is to incorporate this feature into 3.0 version of the product, however, this is just the current plan and can change depending on the complexity of the implementation.

Yes, I create a formula row with a zero in the first column. The row should be hiden. This has to be at the top of the grid and include the row in your data ranges for the chart.

Setting legend layer attributes for SAP Bar Chart Graphics

Hello!
I'm using the SAP Bar Chart for displaying a calendar which is easily printable.
Because the chart contains lines with colored layers without text I need to show a legend at the bottom of a printed page.
I am using the CALL FUNCTION 'BARC_SET_LEGEND_ATTRIB' for setting up the legend and CALL FUNCTION 'BARC_ADD_LEGEND_NODE' to add the nodes/layers and texts to the legend.
The only problem is that the width of each layer displayed in the legend in very narrow. Only ten letters are shown for each legend entry and this is not enough to display the meaning of my colored bars in the chart area.
I tried changing layer-values in the bar chart customizing ( /ocng ) but nothing helped to make the legend entries wider.
Does anyone have an idea?

Workaround for NO DATA FOUND in stacked bar chart?

Hello, Ive got a stacked bar chart in the making, when one of the series doesnt have data, the whole chart show the no data found message but not the other series that do have data. Is there a workaround for this? can I catch the exception in the Series Query? Or is there any other workaround someone has tried with success???

Ok, figured out a workaround based on my rusted SQL memories (its probably not the most efficient way to go), made a view like this:
