Implementing bluetooth app

Hi,
I have a device that I want to be able to connect to my iPhone 4 using bluetooth. My device using the bluetooth profiles Dial-Up Network (DUN) and Serial Port Profile (SPP). And because of the bad support for bluetooth profiles in iPhone this ain't working. So I'm thinking of implementing an app that sets up those profiles and connects to my device.
Anyone having experience of implementing bluetooth profiles in app:s for iPhone or just doing it with objective-c?
Anyone knowing how hard this will be? I have implemented some small app:s for iPhone before and I have worked quite a lot with implementing bluetooth devices before, but never for iPhone or in objective-c.
Any suggestion of material to read are also welcome!

How do you know that most people want to just send a photo?
I don't know it. But from what I have read on these forums, it seems to be the most commonly requested legitimate reason.
Frequently someone posting here has taken a photo and wants to quickly send it to other people they're with and find they can't on their "advanced smartphone". I see far less requests for how to send music or videos.
Obviously copyrighted material shouldn't be shared, so regardless of whether "teens and 20 somethings" want to do that, it's not a reason to allow it. But sending a photo you've taken should not be a problem, and I'm sure the iOS can tell the difference between a photo you've taken and a music, video or saved Safari file.
Also since you can save images to your iPhone from Safari, those pictures you're trying to share could also be copyrighted.
That's irrelevant. You can do the same on a computer just as easily, if not easier and there's no blocking of that activity.
Since most phones have email or MMS, there really is no reason to use clunky bluetooth to share a picture.
Both email & MMS cost money to use on many tariffs and use up network bandwidth. Bluetooth doesn't.
To send via email costs the sender and the recipient. Bluetooth doesn't cost anyone.
Some network providers impose limits on the size of pictures that can be sent/received by MMS or compress/scale them in transit, so the recipient may receive a poorer quality copy of what was sent. Bluetooth doesn't.
Bluetooth is designed for short-range, small file transfers - sending photos is not clunky.
Bluetooth doesn't require a network connection, so can be used anywhere (for instance, abroad when the user is avoiding roaming charges).

  • ODBC Error when implementing BI Apps on SQL Server

    Hey,
    we are implementing BI Apps using SQL Server as the warehouse database, and we are running into the following errors when viewing the out-of-the-box reports:
    [ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]'concat' is not a recognized built-in function name
    [ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'NULLS'..
    It appears that the standard reports are using Oracle-specific SQL functions that are not available in SQL Server. Yet BI Apps is supposedly certified with SQL Server.
    Have anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you get around it?
    Thanks,
    Yi

    Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.
    Yes, the CONCAT_SUPPORT feature is checked for both value and default. However, CONCAT_NULL_RETURNS_NULL is not checked. Should I check it?
    It's great to know that you have it working on SQL server. I must be missing some configuration then.
    Thanks,
    Yi

    Is there any BlueTooth app for iPhone or iPad by which I can transfer files from my iOS devices to any other devices including iOS, Android and Windows devices and vice versa?

    There is no app like that. Just use dropbox for windows and icloud for apple.

  • The iPhone does not find the device. Bluetooth app needed?

    Hey I just bought wireless headphones. My problem now is that my ipad can find them, but not the iphone. You know what I can do there? Need I some extra app for the iphone to use them with Bluetooth?
    Thx

    iAlphan, to catch you up to where Rafi is, we need to see if you can discover your NXT outside of LabVIEW or MINDSTORMS.  I'll assume you're using Windows; if you can confirm and also tell me which version, that would be helpful.
    If Bluetooth drivers are running on your machine, there's usually a Bluetooth icon in the system tray.  (If not, you can look in the Control Panel.)  If you open the native Bluetooth wizards / dialogs by double-clicking on that icon, are you able to find your NXT?  If not, you've got a more fundamental problem than Rafi related to your Bluetooth adapter and the loaded drivers.  If you can find it using that method, well, try again from LabVIEW and report back with any progress.
    By the way, just to eliminate the obvious, have each of you turned on Bluetooth on your NXT?  You'll know Bluetooth is on if you see the triangle icon and a "less than" sign ( < ) in the top left corner of the NXT's screen.
    (edit: add space so "less than" sign isn't turned into an emoticon)

  • Looking for a Bluetooth app for use on 2 macs

    My buddy had this software, I can't remember the name of it.
    When his laptop is docked... he can move his mouse point to a specific section of the screen, say lower right... and both his bluetooth mouse and keyboard switch to his laptop. Then he just switches the input on his monitor and presto... he's on his laptop.
    This sound familiar to anyone? My buddy is out of reach for the time being, thought I would check here.

    I found it, it's called teleport.
    The app isn't actually bluetooth based, it's network based. So you setup your mouse and keyboard on a primary machine (deskto), and when you move the cursor to a hot point, say the left side, the mouse and keyboard become active on that machine.
    I think you can also set it to switch users as well.

  • How to implement an app in a bridge to grab input stream from the Internet

    I set up a pc as a linux-based (Red Hat 9.0) bridge device at first. The pc got two NICs, both of their IPs set as 0.0.0.0. Just now, whole the LAN can uses the pc as a transparent bridge to communicate with external network without change any network setting.
    Consider to monitor the data stream between LAN and external network. I try to implement a sniffer-like app in the bridge device now.
    Below is a portion of my sniffer app, as I run the app in the bridge device, the outcoming result will be:
    print test line 01
    not my expected result:
    print test line 01
    print test line 02
    Can anyone help me to clear my idea?
    public grabInputStream()
         String t = "";
         int listenPort = 80;
         try
              ServerSocket serverSocket = new ServerSocket(listenPort);
              System.out.println("print test line 01");
              Socket listenSocket = serverSocket.accept();
              System.out.println("print test line 02");
              InputSream listenInputStream = listenSocket.getInputStream();
              while (listenInputStream.available()>0)
                   t+=(char)listenInputStream.read();
         catch (Exception e)
              e.printStackTrace();
    }

    Using available() is a bad way to check if the stream is still open.
    Reread the documenation on available to see while.
    Just read only byte at a time until the stream ends. See the javadoc on read() to see how.
    Note: a byte is not a char and a single char can take up 2 or 3 bytes.
    Using a String like this is both inefficient and incorrect.
    I suggest you use apache's IOUtils class to convert an InputStream into a String.

    Hi All,
    We are planning to implement a R12 apps with 11.2.0.3.
    As i know that when we install oracle 11gR2.scan listener and scan vip got created in GRID_HOME. The scan listener comes with default port.
    As R12 by default comes with 11.1.0.7. As per oracle note ID-823587.1
    We need to follow the below steps.
    srvctl add listener -l listener_ebs -o <11gR2 ORACLE_HOME> -p <EBS Database port>
    srvctl setenv listener -l listener_ebs -T TNS_ADMIN= $TNS_ADMIN
    srvctl add scan_listener -l listener_scan -p 1521

    BT = Bluetooth
    BB = Blackberry
    You can find complete documentation for your BB here:

    I suggest you obtain the documents that are discussed in the article I posted for you way above. Read up on the sections it refers to.
    Also, re-read what I posted way up there...I expressly included what you need to do when you are trying to transfer a file from a non-BB to a BB. I can't help you with what you need to do on the non-BB. But what you need to do on the BB is covered above.

  • Testing J2ME Bluetooth Apps within an IDE

    Hi,
    I'm trying to find out how I can test a J2ME app that communicates with Bluetooth from within an iDE (I'm using Eclipse). I have an application that should read data from a bluetooth GPS unit, but I cant figure out how to test it, short of deploying it to the phone and testing from there.
    I have the Carbide.j pack installed, and there is an option "S60Device_over_bluetooth", but when I try and run this emulator, it stalls at the "Creat JAR file stage".
    Is it possible to test a bluetooth application like this from within an IDE?
    Is "S60Device_over_bluetooth" the emulator that I want to be using?
    Thanks for the help,
    Nick

    I think that you can't really automate that; there are too many different (custom) applications out there.

  • Implementing bluetooth communication on a single computer!!

    I want to develope an application where lets say 2 comps having bluetooth hardware are involved in communication.
    My idea is to enable both pcs to recieve and send files among each other by running some application on each of the computer.
    But since at home,i dont hav a second pc,can i implement a second BT device (pls suggest me d bluetooth hardware details requiered to be installed on d pc) on the same single computer to test my application before implementing it actually on two different comps.
    I would be highly obliged if anyone can help me out.
    Thanking you

    You could have two blue tooth adapters where one talks to the other. They could be on the same computer and you need to configure one piece of software to talk to one device and the second to the other.

  • Bluetooth App's

    Hallo,
    nach der Installation von ios7 funktioniert mein Bluetooth nicht mehr, kann keine Geräte erkennen.
    Alle App's melden beim öffnen einen Fehler, insbesondere Whats app!
    Wie kann ich diese Probleme lösen?

    Thanks for your reply!
    As I understand there are two way to communicate to a Bluetooth device:
    RFCOMM
    GATT
    But if I'm right RFCOMM is only for Bluetooth classic and GATT for Bluetooth Low Energy.
    And GATT works with predefine profiles which all are basically just use to read out an BLE device.
    Also on Win 8 Apps, the App device can only be the Client and not the Server ?
    I tried to search on the web but you can't really find something usefull to it!
    And the Microsoft GATT section lacks of commentary in their example code
