Implementing Multi-agent system ..??

Hello,
I have to build a multi agent system for information retrieval from a blog portal.. now the problem is that i'm not able to decide which agent library should i go for.. there are so many of them available ..jatlite, jade, aglets etc..what do u think is fine?
pls reply.

    How should implement multi-thread in single-threaded Operating system using java?
    Java supports "Multi-threading".Is there is any way run the multiple threads (Implementing multi threading) using java in a Single-threaded Operating system (That is the operating system does not support for multi-threading).

    Previous questions from OP suggest they are using J2ME, so the question might be possible.

    What is the actual question/problem?
    A java app doesn't do threads or not do threads. It uses classes. The VM does threads.
    So if you have a platform that does not have threads and you want to support the thread class then the VM, not a java app, must provide some pseudo mechanism, such as green threads, to support that.
    If your question is about java code and not the VM then you must build a task engine and insure that the tasks are of short enough duration that it is an effective use for your system.

    Please pardon if this question has been asked before, but the Forum search is not returning any relevant results.
    We are in the process of purchasing hardware for an 11.1.2 Essbase environment. We are going 64-bit, on Windows 2008, with either 32 GB or 64 GB of system RAM. The debate we are having is the number of CPUs and cores per CPU. We have not built any ASO databases as of yet, but we plan to launch a major BSO to ASO conversion project once 11.1.2 is off the ground here.
    Historically, with BSO, we did not see performance improvements significant enough to justify the cost of additional CPUs when we ran calcs on multi-CPU systems vs. single or dual CPU systems, even when the settings and design should have taken the most advantage of BSO's multi-threading capabilities. However, it would seem that ASO's design may be able to make better use of multi-core systems.
    I know that there are a lot of factors behind any system's performance, but in general, is ASO in 11.1.2 written well enough to make it worthwhile to consider, say, a four CPU, total 16 core system vs. a 2 CPU, total four core system?

    Grand central dispatch - infancy, not really doing its job, and I don't think apps have to be specifically written for HT, but they do have to not do things that they use to - prevent threads from going to sleep! or be parked.
    high usage is not necessarily high efficiency. often the opposite.
    Windows 7 seems to be optimized for multi-core thanks to a lot of reworking. Intel wants and knows it isn't possible to hand code, that the hardware has to be smarter, too. But the OS has a job, and right now I don't think it does it properly. Or handle memory.
    Gulftown's 12MB cache will help, and over all should be 20% more efficient doing its work.
    With dual processors, and it doesn't look like there are two quick path bridges, data shuffling has led to memory thrashing. Use to be page thrashing with not enough memory. Then core thrashing but having the cores, but not integrated (2008 is often touted as being greatest design so far, but it was FOUR dual-cores, 2009 was the first with a processor that really was new design and (native) 4-core.
    One core should be owned by the OS so it is always available for its own work and housekeeping.
    The iTunes audio bug last year showed how damaging and not to implement code and how a thread could usurp processing and add a high cpu temperature while basically doing nothing, sort of a denial of service attack on the processor - those 80*C temps people had.
    All those new technology features under development and not like OpenCL, GCD and even OpenGL are tested, mature but rather 1.0 foundation for the future. A year ahead of readiness.

  • Mobile Agents System

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement a Distributed system for Mobile Agents, but I'm new in Distributed Computing, Could any one suggest a book/tutorial/desing pattern for developping a Middleware that supports Mobile Agents using RMI??
    thanks.

    Hey, I wish I could direct you to a good paper about this, but all I really have is http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aglets which is the starting point I used years ago to do distributed agents. The problem is that they were single-trip agents and not per se `mobile.'
    The concept however, is very easily accomplished via RMI through much of the new push for JNDI.

  • Diff between two-level infrastructure and multi-level system landscape

    Hi Experts,
    Can Anyone explain me what exactly is meant by two-level infrastructure (SAP and customer solutions) and multi-level system landscape (SAP, country-specific versions, industry solutions, partner, customer, and so on) in the below statement
    In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-level infrastructure (SAP and customer solutions), but instead allow for a multi-level system landscape (SAP, country-specific versions, industry solutions, partner, customer, and so on). You can create definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins at any level of the system landscape

    Hi
    The user-exit can be implemented once, i.e. it can be used once: so it can be used to solve a particular customer situation.
    The BADI can have several implemantations, so the same BADI can be used several times, and so it can be used to solve problem of customer, for business (so different implemantion for every SAP vertical, for example one for AFS, one for OIL,......), for a specific for a country (it's the case for the FI BADIs used to solve different legal specific of every country where SAP is implemented), .......

  • Multi-Processor Systems vs Single Processor systems

    In general, is it better to run Weblogic on a fast single processor system
    or on a multi-processor system where the individual cpus are less powerful?
    I am assuming that the platforms are WINTEL and all other things (memory,

    What are the licensing implications of one philosophy over the other?

    I am assuming that the platforms are WINTEL and all other things (memory,
    disk channels etc) are equal.You'll hate me for saying this, but it depends on your application and
    your client load.
    I'd suggest that you run a load test against both systems and compare
    the results.

  • Multi-Agent Simulator Program

    Hi All,
    I'm working on a multi-agent simulator in which agents learn an environment while moving through it. Being somewhat new to Java, I'm looking for suggestions on what data structure to use for storing an agents associative memory. To give you an idea, I'm currently using an array for the agent's exploratory memory (a buffer), then when the agent finds food the path used to find food is then copied to the agent's associative memory and the exploratory memory is whiped clean. The problem I'm encountering is I don't want just a bunch of paths to be stored in the agent's associative memory - exsecially paths that have exact subpaths. For example, if an agent moves North, North, East, then South, and finds food, that path will be stored in associative memory - in case the agent finds itself on that same path it can use it's associative memory to find food. The problem is what if the agent does find itself on that same path, but moved South then West prior to finding the above path. My current logic updates associative memory with the full path taken to reach food. Therefore I would have two paths in my associative memory but one path would be a subpath of another. I guess I'm looking for a data structure that can store full paths as well as parts of paths that connect to full paths. Also, the agents don't know where the food is, they only know paths to food. I can't make a matrix for the agent mapping the environment. I was considering storing full paths and using an emotional context, but wouldn't that be inefficient to store all full paths when some paths are subpaths of other paths?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    The agents must store paths to food. Right now the agents move acorrding to their schema. If they get stuck a random set of moves is generated for that agent. The idea of the simulation is for agents to learn the environment (paths to food) through the use of their inborn schema and associative memory. For example, when an agent finds food, that path is stored in it's associative memory. The agent is then placed in a random location in the environment. That agent will then use its schema and associative memory to find food, meaning when the agent moves it will check it's associative memory for a move that matches the current move - if no match is found it will move according to its inborn schema (default move pattern).

  • WMS implementation in running system

    Dear Gurus,
           I am confused because I have configured WMS as per requirement and now we are going to implement it on a running system. I will explain requirement by the following scenario.
    2000 pcs stock for material A found on storage location 2301 (Invetory management) and when we implement WMS then system will not take that 2000 pcs into WMS so stock reconciliation will not tally. Is there any way to reconcile MM inventory with WMS inventory?
    Regards,

    Ok, I haven't had much of a chance to look at this (so I'd recommend looking for a tutorial or something) but I think something like this might work Ok.
    public class MyClassLoader extends ClassLoader {
         private static Hashtable cClassCache = new Hashtable();
         public static void clearCache() {
              cClassCache.clear();
         protected synchronized Class loadClass(String name, boolean resolve)
              throws ClassNotFoundException {
              Object o = cClassCache.get(name);
              if (o != null) {
                   return (Class) o;
              try {
                   byte [] b = ... // Lookup the bytes that make up the compiled class
                   Class c = defineClass(name, b, 0, b.length);
                   if (resolve) {
                        resolveClass(c);
                   cClassCache.put(name, c);
                   return c;
    // etc.How's that sound.

    JeongEog,
    You may use SAP java Connector for doing that. Refer the following links for the step-by-step approach.

  • Concurrency in Swing,  Multi-processor system

    I have two questions:
    1. This is a classic situation where I am looking for a definitive answer on: I've read about the single-thread rule/EDT, SwingWorker, and the use of invokeLater()/invokeAndWait(). The system I am designing will have multiple Swing windows (JInternalFrames) that do fairly complex GUI work. No direct interaction is needed between the windows which greatly simplifies things. Some windows are horrendously complex, and I simply want to ensure that one slow window doesn't bog the rest of the UIs. I'm not entirely clear on what exactly I should be threading: the entire JInternalFrame itself should be runnable? The expensive operation within the JInternalFrame? A good example of this is a complex paint() method: in this case I've heard of spawning a thread to render to a back-buffer of sorts, then blitting the whole thing when ready. In short, what's the cleanest approach here to ensure that one rogue window doesn't block others? I apologize if this is something addressed over and over but most examples seem to point to the classic case of "the expensive DB operation" within a Swing app.
    2. Short and sweet: any way to have Swing take advantage of multi-processor systems, say, a system with 6 processors available to it? If you have one Swing process that spawns 10 threads, that's still just one process and the OS probably wouldn't be smart enough to distribute the threads across processors, I'm guessing. Any input on this would be helpful. Thank you!

    (1) You need to use a profiler. This is the first step in any sort of optimization. The profiler does two important things: First, it tells you where are the real bottlenecks (which is usually not what you expect), and eliminates any doubt as to a certain section of code being 'slow' or 'fast'. Second, the profilter lets you compare results before and after. That way, you can check that your code changes actually increased performance, and by exactly how much.
    (2) Generally speaking, if there are 10 threads and 10 CPU's, then each thread runs concurrently on a different CPU.
    As per (1), the suggestion to use double buffering is the likely best way to go. When you think about what it takes to draw an image, 90% of it can be done in a worker thread. The geometry, creating Shapes, drawing then onto a graphics object, transformations and filters, all that can be done offline. Only copying the buffered image onscreen is the 10% that needs to happen in the EDT thread. But again, use a profiler first.

  • Managing Multiple SunFires on an agent system.

    Greetings,
    In a previous lifetime, I managed one 6800 from the SunMC server, but now, I am trying to manage multiple 6800's from an agent system. To give you an idea, I have the SunMC server that can communicate with a SunMC agent system that has a private network to the system controllers. If I add one Sunfire, I am able to look at it on the SunMC console. However, when I go through the drama of adding multiple system controllers on the agent system, things go pear shaped. I do an es-platform -a system controller a, b, c ,etc, etc. I then do the es-setup.sh -I a, b, c (in the right directory) , then do the es-start -y a, b, c, etc. etc..
    When I add the platform to the SunMC server, I don't get a SunFire, I get a simple node. I cant see the platform components (Domains, etc).
    I have read the doco but it lacks clear guidelines on how to do this at an agent level. Obviously, if I could attach straight to the system controllers from the SunMC management system, I doubt I would have these problems. Also at the agent level, it seems to lack some abilities, such as DR I think..
    Should I keep mucking about with this agent idea or convince our network people to let me change the network so I have direct access to the system controllers from the SunMC server and to hell with those agents.
    Or have I simply done something stupid?
    Regards
    Stephen

    Good to hear its work'in. Were you using this doc as a reference?
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-3626
    .. change that 817-3626 to 816-7381 .. and you are out of date.
    IMHO, there should always be a static link to the latest.
    Currently the web site default for SunMC docs takes you to 3.5 docs:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/810.2
    The 3.5 Update 1 list below is newer and more complete:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/810.3
    and has the bits from the latest collections.
    Might as well note the remaining repos too, though there is not much there beyond release notes and docs on specific functionality added in those releases (Solaris 10 support and SCM):
    810.5 (3.5 Update 1a Release Notes - Solaris 10)
    810.6 (3.5 Update 1b Release Notes - SCM)
    810.4 (Upcoming 3.6 doc placeholder)
