Implementing something akin to popup menu that shows image.

I have a situation where I want to display an image, or more accurately part of an image, in a popup below the component the user is on. For example, they might tab to or click on a JTextField and I want to have a popup with an image show up below it. If they move from that JTextField or hit a given key (ESC would be default) it will disappear. Furthermore, on top of all that the popup should not get focus, the focus should remain with the component (the JTextField in this case).
I briefly messed around with JPopupMenu but it's not working particularly well and I'm not sure it's well advised to use it for something that's not actually a menu and I ran into some weird cyclical event cycle when I tried to close it in focusLost. What's the appropriate way of going about this in Swing?

Best way to make a menu that shows up on all pages and that's easy to add links to later?

Hi everyone, first post on the forums. I am very new to using Dreamweaver and making web pages in general, so bear with me
Here's what I want to do:
1. Make a web site with a menu bar on the left with about 30 links.
2. All 30 links go to different pages on the same website, and each page has the exact same layout, only the body text is different (same placement of advertising, menu, etc.)
3. I want to be able to add links to that menu quickly and easily.
In other words, I basically want to just make one static menu that shows up the same way on each page of my site.
Now, how I am thinking is best to do this is to make one menu its own page (in its own frame??) and just have each page on my site link to that menu, so that whenever I want to update the menu, I don't have to update the static menu on each page of my website, only the one menu.html or whatever.
This is probably the easiest thing in the world to do and I'm probably not using the proper terminology or anything, but I hope that I have explained myself clearly.

While Breqent is right that server side includes are the best way of doing this if you aren't up on
server side coding then you can use Dreamweaver to manage you menu.
You do this by simply ensuring you never edit the menu area on any individual page.
It should therefore be identical on all page and as such you can just use find and replace across the entire site or folder to edit all occurances of your menu.

Since Lion installation the remote control first generation, doesn't work as usually. On Leopard when I pushed the menu button, it opened a menu that showed music, films, photo. Now it doesn't work anymore. Is there anyone to explain me why this happen?

Sadly Snow Leopard was the last OS X to have Front Row and it is no longer offered in Lion or Mountain.

There are dozens of ways to accomplish this. What sort of experience with Flash do you have? A very simple method is to just place each image on the timeline. Set a frame rate for the movie, and then extend each image's extent on the timeline to allow it to be shown for the duration that you want. For instance, with the frame rate set to 15 fps, to show each image for 1 second, you would have each image occupy 15 frames. Add or subtract frames to suit your needs. You can add transitions between each image if you like.

I have this weird right-click popup menu that displayes all of the options for FF:

So sometimes when I right-click my mouse button this popup menu with all the options possible comes up... I have a picture if you need.
P.S. It's not an addon or plugin; this happens to my friends computers and new Firefox installations too.

This issue can be caused by an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). 
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

The icon on my menu that show internet connectivity disappeared. How do I get my menu icons back.

I cannot bring up the menues that show the marquees. All I get is a setup for working with videos.... not photos

Am 100% a newbie with photoshop. I can organize the photos I have stored on my hard drive. when I go to select a photo to administer some treatments.... such as changing the shape, vignetting, etc.... I cannot bring up the submenu with the marquees that enable this activity. I have installed the disc twice.... need some advice/help....

Sub menu for the marquee tools hover over the tool in the tools palette or right click on it.

How do I stop all those annoying, very thin popup banners that show up at the bottom of the page? I am tired of these unwanted banners.

At the very bottom of most pages, I get these thin, annoying banners all the time. They relate to so many different things it is difficult to list them all. From Facebook page info to adverts. They do have a very small x at the end (be careful which x you chose) that will close them down but not all can be done away with. Some just fold to the side of the page. I still do not want these annoying banners.
How do I get rid of them? I've tried everything listed on the help pages and nothing is working.

Some websites have these banners programed into the website so that they are not detected by AdBlock Plus.
I looks at your plugins and I am wondering if maybe it if the Facebook Video Calling Plugin.
Try disabling this plugin to see if the issue will go away.
If you have another internet browser try this to see if it is a Firefox extension/plugin or just the website:
# Open a webpage with a banner on Firefox
# Open the same webpage in a different browser (eg. Chrome, IE, Opera, etc.)
Report back and tell me if there were banners on both browsers or just one. Also, please post a link of a website with a banner.
NOTE: Screenshots can be added on the support forum, via the Browse... button. Because of viruses and malware always being a threat, people are less likely to open the links with the pictures because of the infection threat.

Jquery zoom plugin that shows images above the zoomed image on mouse rollover

Hi all, after much effort and help from this forum I've managed to get a zoom effect to work on my image. It needed to be a loupe effect like this - http://www.dailycoding.com/Posts/imagelens__a_jquery_plugin_for_lens_effect_image_zooming. aspx
This is the plugin I've used.
Problem now is that I need images to appear above the image on mouse rollover. Currently - if I place images above this image and place my cursor over the image the zoom effect works but it ignores the images placed on top and just zooms in on the image shown below.
I would be very appreciative of anyone who can help me with this issue.

I wondered if it was possible to stop the jquery zoom plugin working when I mouseover the image on top of the map. Maybe that would be a solution?

Neat menu to show images

I'd like to create a list/menu so that when an entry is
selected an image appears. On selecting a different entry in the
menu the image is swapped.

Popup menu does not show in JTextField

I have a JPanel with a popup menu that works perfectly, as long as the right mouse button is clicked on the JPanel. However the popup menu does not show if the right mouse button is clicked on a JTextField that is within the JPanel.
What has to be done that the popup menu shows always?

There are up to 20 JTextFields in the JPanels an the application has a lot of JPanels of course. Adding the listener to each and every JTextField means a lot of extra code. Is there really no generic solution to this problem???

Empty popup menu

Hi,
we implemented an excel-download function according blog "Creating a BSP Extension for Downloading a Table" (/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/09/02/creating-a-bsp-extension-for-downloading-a-table). This creates a menu-entry using the standard popup menu function.
It worked fine but after several patches (SAP BASIS SPs ) we figured out, the the BSP now is showing an empty span without the menu-items in it (although the menu entries are in the HTML-Code).
We think, that this is a problem with the called Java-Script method onclick="sapUrMapi_PopupTrigger_openMenu('EXCEL_INTERFACE__popupTrigger','EXCEL_INTERFACE__popupMenu',event);
Do you have any experience at this or face the same problem?

I have some kind of workaround for my problem. I changed my Handler to search for all MParts matching my Part-ID. I check all Parts for there setup and possible update it. But when I decide I need a new Part, I clone the Part using the cloneElement-Method of the EModelService and activate it with the EPartService.
With this method the popup menu also shows on the newly created Part.
There is still a Problem, removing the second Plugin which contains the HandledItems for the Parts results in an error for the active part and a disabled popup menu for the other parts. I also don't known what will happen if I later add a new Plugin with new HandledItems.
So still it would be nice if anyone can lead me to the right direction.

Encore CS6 popup menu

I would like to know if there is a way I can create a button on my popup menu to exit my popup menu? I have seen this on other DVDs. Is there a way to accomplish this in encore or maybe bdedit, I would really really appreciate this as I'm at ends on this... Pulling out my hair trying to figure this out any help please...

Well, if you're trying to accomplish this with DVD's the answer is no. Because DVD's have no popup menu support at all. However, if you are trying this with Blu-rays, the answer is still kind of no. I say kind of because, generally, on your remote control, if you just press the "popup menu" button again, the menu itself should disappear.
If you're wanting to put an actual button on the popup menu that says "exit popup menu" or whatever, that's going to be no, because, currently, Encore doesn't support that action and lacks a programming function that might allow you to implement it.

Challenge popup menu, css stylesheet and button in table component

Hello, in my last post i put the code of an example of popup menu but the only thing that need to run was a cdata tag. But in the example i only can open and close the popup menu in the top and left location that previously set in the css stylesheet .
1.- I need to create a popup menu that can be diplayed if i click on a button in a table component of creator
2.- The menu must waits and let me select the opcion I choose with a click otherrewise

The best thing to do would be to find an existing popup menu widget in a JavaScript library, like dojo (dojotoolkit.org). If you can't find an existing JavaScript widget that fulfills your needs, you can write your own. It won't be easy, but you can use Creator's Auto Complete Text Field's JavaScript as a model. If that is the case, look at both the JavaScript at http://sunapp2.whardy.com/AjaxSamples2/faces/static/META-INF/autocomplete/script.js and the HTML source of the page located at http://sunapp2.whardy.com/AjaxSamples2/faces/DemoAutoCompleteTextField.jsp which is a page that is part of the Creator AJAX component catalog (http://developers.sun.com/ajax/componentscatalog.jsp).
