Import a compiled .class or include a .jsp with a class code inside?

which is better and faster, to import a class file or a jsp file that has a class code inside?

I apologize but this is a clarification of this problem. We are having a problem dynamically reloading java classes that are referenced by jsp's and servlets. The problem DOES NOT exist when trying to reload jsps or servlets themselves. We would like to reload these classes without having to restart the processes. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

    I do not see why you would use two sorts.
    And what is the issue exactly by the way? Errors?
    So, the records before the Merge Join need to come sorted, to achieve this simply tick:

  • JSP with Java Class

    How to run *.class in JSP. For example, the demo class, Clock.class is run in html format, Can I run the Clock.class in JSP format?

    Please notice,
    The applet has a graphical context which can draw lines, circules and painting all the object including the background. Now the applet can be load from a jsp page also as if it resides on a html page. Now when you want to use the class Clock.class as a bean inside the jsp page, it has to keep the following definition ( you can't get the graphical context from the applet as a class method in a bean.
    The JavaBeans is realy nothing more than a class that maintains some data ( called properties) and follows certain coding convention ( getXX() setXX()) and it has to implements the Serilizable interface and provide no argument for the constructor.
    As a result when you want to use the jsp tag for Bean like <jsp:useBean id="MyClock" class="Clock.class" /> keep in mind that the Clock.class is directly located in /WEB-INFO/classes/ in your web application directory.
    Now your purpose will be directly oriented to get or set some value for the clock like to get the current time or to set different time zone or to calculate the time in Kurdistan if you are in US etc..
    So the Clock class has become a source of hidden business logic operation exposed by methods only.
    The graphical animation etc.. is not related to Bean at all event though the applet implements the Seriazable interface

  • JSP with Bean Class

    Hi,
    i am using tomcat server, Where it is store Bean class file, and how to call bean class file in JSP
    Pls help me

    Thanks, that works when I do this from current dir (C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\servlets-example
    \WEB-INF\classes) :
    set CLASSPATH=.;%CLASSPATH%
    And I have to put the User.java file in the util directory that is located up one directory (C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\servlets-example
    \WEB-INF\classes\util).
    package util;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.text.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import util.User;But it still wont work from the num directory that I had in my original question. I tried setting my classpath to point to the num package:
    Set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\jsp-examples\WEB-INF\classes\num
    and it gave me same error.
    Please advise or should I just live with the servlet calling the class in the util directory and forget about the num directory?

  • Servlet with no dynamic code inside jsp pages

    Hello,
              I saw that a servlet is created even if there is no dynamic code inside jsp pages (scriplets & tags). Is it possible to avoid it on bea side ? (I am using portal 8).
              By the way, do you know if is it possible to define apache in order to avoid to send to bea the jsp which have no dynamic code inside ?
              thank you !

    JSP's always generate a servlet on all web containers. Apache/Tomcat is no
              different. If you have static content, make it an HTML page.

  • HELP! Beginning JSP with JavaBean Class

    First of all, I'm using jdk1.4 beta and Jakarta's tomcat version 4.0.1 release build.
    Hello. I desparately need help. I have a JavaBean class ("CarBean.class") saved in %catalina_home%\webapps\root\myapp\web-inf\classes\com\wrox\cars\CarBean.class
    I also have a jsp page saved as carpage.jsp in %catalina_home%\webapps\root\myapp\
    So when I point my browser to http://localhost:8080/myapp/carpage.jsp, I get an internal server error. It appears it can't find the JavaBean class for some reason. I'm pretty sure I have my envionment variables set up right. I can get it to work, if I save the JavaBean class in c:\jdk1.4\jre\class\com\wrox\cars
    Here's my JavaBean class source file:
    package com.wrox.cars;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    public class CarBean implements Serializable {
    public CarBean() {
    private String make = "Ford";
    public String getMake() {
    return make;
    public void setMake(String make) {
    this.make = make;
    and here's my jsp page:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Using a JavaBean</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h2>Using a JavaBean</h2>
    <% com.wrox.cars.CarBean myCar = new com.wrox.cars.CarBean(); %>
    I own a <%= myCar.getMake() %>
    <% myCar.setMake("Ferrari"); %>
    Now I own a <%= myCar.getMake() %>
    </body>
    </html>
    I'm not new to java, just JSP. I just don't know why I can't get the jsp to locate the JavaBean class. I remember I used to have an older version of Tomcat and I recall not having any problems. It seems the Tomcat 4.XX is somewhat significantly different than previous versions. Perhaps I configured my Tomcat wrong? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    hi
    i am not using Tomcat server but as i worked in JWS you have to import the bean class from jsp files.
    so the first code in jsp file will be like this
    <%@ page import = "CarBean">
    becoz JWS cant automatically find the bean class we have to explicitly import bean.but i dont know if tomcat finds
    bean or one have to import.
    hope this will help u.
    regards
    manoj choudhury.

  • Importing Relationships from .XLS in P6 7.2 with Error Event Code AVAA0-319

    While attempting to import a small number of relationships (100+/-) from a MSExcel file, I received the following error message and the import was aborted.  I used a relationship export file from the same schedule for the format of the import file and have had other imports of in this same format and file go thru without a problem.
    I am curious to know if this could be a memory issue with my computer or if it is some other issue.  Has anyone seen this Event Code error before? Or is there a reference out there where I might be able to get some insight as to what is causing the issue?
    Any assistance would be appreciated!

    The usual culprit I have when importing from Excel is "phantom" records. This will cause an error.
    Select the first 20 blank rows immediately below your data then right-click and delete the rows.
    Sometimes there can be a control character or the like in a cell that you can't see, but it appears to P6 as an illegal import.

  • In portlet context include a jsp from the desktop context

    Hi,
    I developed a portlet, and in my jsp file I want to include a jsp file which is in my portal desktop (the file is in /etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/..).
    So I want to do something like:
    <c:import url="file:///etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/mydesktop/ PortletHeader.jsp" /> Of course this doesn't work because the jsp expressions are not executed, instead the jsp tags are just displayed in the browser.
    but for including a jsp with <@include file> or <c:import> or <jsp:include>, the jsp must run in its context. So actually we should do something like <c:import url="some_path" context="some_context" >.
    Now, I don't know what some_context is. To what context the portal desktop runs so the jsp file can be 'executed'?
    Hope someone can give me some more information about this.
    Greets,
    Tim

    <quote>some_context <quote>
    ..will be the pageContext
    which is the implicit object for a JSP.
    or
    use config object to get this context and then use
    <jsp:include> or <@include file>

  • Dynamic Fonts in JSP With applet

    Hi Buddies
    My Multilingual web application uses a dynamic font , the technology provided by TrueDoc.com. Now the problem is the webpage works properly by making use of the dynamic fonts and I get stuck to life when I realised that my applet should also display using the dynamic font.
    The dynamic font is a file with an extension of .pfr usually placed in the server and all the webpages will be bound to the server to make use of the .pfr font, there by making all the clients to view the sam font
    irrespective of the fonts installed in the client machine.
    How do i get going

    The applet is run on the client machine, so you have to include the .pfr with the applet code. Best bet would be to use a JAR for the Applet and package the .pfr inside there.

  • How to include a .class file in a jsp page

    hi everyone,
    i know the syntax as:
    <%@ include file = "filename.class" %>
    then at run time the server could not find the class file
    if i use,
    <%@ page import = "FileName.class" %>
    then also the same problem persists
    & if i use
    <jsp:include page = "Relative address"/>
    the problem still remains as it is...
    please help me out...i am working on developing an EJB application in which client interacts with server's Stateful session bean through a jsp page...it is necessary for me to include the home interface class file in my jsp page.
    P.S. do not suggest me to include the class file in a package & then use
    <%@ page import = "packageName.ClassFileName" %>

    "package University does not exist".How can i overcome this problem. The package University, which you are trying to import, must be in the classpath. If you removed it then you will have to add it back.
    i have tried my best..but tell me if there's any possible way of including a class file in the jsp page without involving a package.No, there isn't.
    If not,then pls help me to generate the class file of my home interface within a package called test.Read the New To Java Tutorial and understand how packages work.

    Weird error. Never seen this one before.
    Try packaging your classes eg:package myClasses;and import them:<%@page import="myClasses.*"%>Should fix the problem.

  • JSP import fails unless Jars are included in the PAR

    Hello,
    We have a simple EP6 iView for displaying the Universal Worklist entries (UWL) using a JSPDynPage.
    We import the UWL library symbols and compile/use them in the Java code without problems (e.g. import com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item; )
    The following entry is made in the portalapp.xml file to make sure the UWL symbols are found at runtime:
         <property name="ServicesReference" value="SAPJ2EE::library:tckmcbc.uwl~api"/>
    The problem occurs when we try to import the UWL symbols into our JSP with this code:
         <%@ page import="com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item" %>
    The UWL symbols are just not found.  Here are the exception headers:
    #1#com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Error in service call of Resource
    Component : pcd:portal_content/MikesFolder/com.lds.mlp.MikesTest1
    #1#com.sapportals.portal.prt.servlets_jsp.server.compiler.CompilingException: Error occurs during the rendering of jsp component
    Caused by: com.sapportals.portal.prt.servlets_jsp.server.compiler.CompilingException: D:/usr/sap/EP1/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/portal/portalapps/mikestest1/work/pagelet/_sapportalsjsp_helloiviewpage.java:22: package com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl does not exist
    import com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item;
                                    ^
    1 error
    Now if I add the bc.uwl.service.api_api.jar into PORTAL-INFlib everything is fine.  However this seems like such a 'hack'.  We really shouldn't be distributing a system file in our PAR.
    This person seems to have had the same problem with the system mail jars ( JSP MAIL ERROR ).
    Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?  Do we really have to distribute the system jars to make this JSP import work properly?
    Thanks & Cheers,

    Hi,
    This is exactly the portalapp.xml of the sap application com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.par
    check out the difference between this and yours?
    Dont miss out on anything important here. I think it should work.
    If you are still facing problem only while using in jsp I have a cure.
    Write a clean java class in your app which queries the apis in this jar.
    Also add sharing reference to this application in your portalapp.xml. Query your class in your jsp rather than the "standard jar"

  • Compiled JSPs With Jasper - Now Includes don't work

    I am using a template page (index.jsp) that includes other jsp pages to fill the body of the page. Previously, I had my index.jsp page as the root document and the other jsp's in a 'jsp' subfolder. To include the other jsp's, I was using hyperlinks like this:
    where 'XXXX' is the name of the jsp page without the '.jsp' extension.
    So, in the index.jsp page, I had the following line of code that included the jsp pages:
    <%
    pageContext.include("/jsp/" + include + ".jsp"); // include is the 'page' request parameter.
    %>
    This has worked flawlessly up to this point. However, now I want to precompile all JSP pages using Ant and Jasper as this is a distributed app and I don't want to ship jsp pages. I compiled the pages and updated the web.xml file with the new mappings. Now the index.jsp page (servlet) displays but does not include the compiled jsp pages. Will the same link to a jsp page use the servlet mappings in the web.xml file to map to the new servlet?
    I also tried the following with the same result:
    request.getRequestDispatcher("/jsp/" + include + ".jsp").include(request,response);
    Can someone suggest a solution? How can I get the compiled jsp's (servlets) to be included and displayed in the same way they were when used as jsp pages?

    Well, good news and bad news....
    I got the includes to work by changing my index.jsp page to use the following:
    <jsp:include page="<%=includePage%>" flush="true"/>
    instead of:
    pageContext.include("/jsp/" + include + ".jsp");
    This seems to work.
    However, this has uncovered another issue. Now none of the graphics for the page display. So I am left with a page that has broken images links all over it. Does anyone know how to get around this? All my links follow the format:
    <img src="/images/...
    so they should resolve to the base directory, then 'images' right? When I look at the properties for each broken image, they have the correct path... does anyone know why they wouldn't display? What do I need to do to allow the servlets to display the images properly like the jsp pages did?
    Thanks in advance...

  • JSPC compile JSP problems (Duplicate class name)

    Hello,
    I tried to use Ant1.5.1 to compile the JSP files.
    I encountered the following problems:
    if my webapp directory structure is as
    $WEB_ROOT/index.jsp
    $WEB_ROOT/folder1/index.jsp
    I compile the JSP in Ant as following:
    <taskdef classname="org.apache.jasper.JspC" name="jasper2" >
    <classpath refid="run.classpath"/>
    </taskdef>
    <jasper2 verbose="0"
    package="eric.test.jsp"
    uriroot="${basedir}/myserv"
    webXmlFragment="${basedir}/jsp/web.xml"
    outputDir="${basedir}/jsp" />
    The Jasper(JSPC) can't append the extra folder to the index_jsp.java
    Both of the index.jsp that in the "ROOT" or in the "folder1" belongs to the same package "eric.test.jsp".
    Therefore, when I compile the .java files, it just raised the Exception "Duplicate class declaration"
    Best regards,
    Eric

    Hi Eric - did you manage to sort this problem out? I am trying to pre-compile my JSPs and I am having the same problem with duplicates classes.
    What I don't understand is that if I don't pre-compile, and I allow Tomcat to compile the JSPs when they are accessed, it appears to create duplicate classes in the same package without any problems...?
