Dynamic Fonts in JSP With applet

Hi Buddies
My Multilingual web application uses a dynamic font , the technology provided by TrueDoc.com. Now the problem is the webpage works properly by making use of the dynamic fonts and I get stuck to life when I realised that my applet should also display using the dynamic font.
The dynamic font is a file with an extension of .pfr usually placed in the server and all the webpages will be bound to the server to make use of the .pfr font, there by making all the clients to view the sam font
irrespective of the fonts installed in the client machine.
How do i get going

The applet is run on the client machine, so you have to include the .pfr with the applet code. Best bet would be to use a JAR for the Applet and package the .pfr inside there.

  • Call JSP with applet and wait till it is loaded

    Hi,
    I am calling a JSP with a java-script. The targetpage needs some time, until the applet is loaded. I would like to call a function in the applet.
    My problem is, that I cannot set 'location.href' and straight after that call the applet, because it will not be there. How can I delay the applet-call, until it is really there?
    function loadOrder(){
    top.mainFrame.location.href = 'auftragseditor.jsp';
    top.mainFrame.OrderApplet.setOrder( orderno )
    I also fitted a while(...) loop between the two statements, but obviously the page is not build up in another thread. The loading will wait.
    Thanks for your help
    Klaus

    Assuming that top.mainFrame.OrderApplet.setOrder( orderno ) causes an exception because
    the applet is not loaded yet you should put it in a try and catch.
    One other problem is that orderno is not defigned anywhere in your method.
    function loadOrder(){
      top.mainFrame.location.href = 'auftragseditor.jsp';
      callApplet( orderno );
    function callApplet(strPassToApplet){
      try{
         top.mainFrame.OrderApplet.setOrder( orderno )
      }catch(e){
        // try again in .1 seconds
        setTimeout("callApplet(\"" + strPassToApplet + \");",100);
    }

  • Get dynamic values in Jsp fom Applet

    Hi,
    Mine is not a unique question, its been asked many times on the same forum but still I havent got any satisfactory answer so I am putting this again.
    I have one applet, it is been loaded from jsp. Applet uses double buffering and its values are changing constantly.
    Now my question arises here, In my jsp i have one button on the click of that button I am calling some other jsp passing some of jsp values in URL. I also want to pass one of the value of applet to jsp so it can pass to next jsp or to do something that next jsp automatically gets the new value.
    I thought for Applet-servlet communication but my concerns are,as my applet is being refreshed continuously(around every 1 sec) and the value which i have to pass is changing every second and I dont know when user will click on the button of jsp so to pass that value of applet i have to do applet-servlet communication every second and that does not suit me as it consumes lot of time.
    Can you suggest me any other solution so I can send value through jsp whenever button is clicked.
    Thanks
    Taral Shah

    HI Senthil Babu
    Thanks for your reply.
    But applet is very important for my application as i am showing some graphical representation on it. So I have to use applet. Now you told that i have to make temporary files on client's macvhine. You mean to say each time I have to store that value on client's pc through File I/O.
    Is that? but that is also problematic 'cause it consimes much time and my application deals in milli seconds.
    Pl. guide me considering that time is much important for my application so solution should not consume much time.
    Thanks again,
    Taral Shah

  • Create a dynamic search in JSP with more than one datasource

    Hello,
    In the ViewCiteria tag you can specify the datasource in which you want to place the criteria. Is it also possible to work with more than one datasource ?
    In my project I want one query form for specifying criteria for more than one datasource. When I send the query form, I want the right view criteria will be coupled with the right datasource.
    Has someone more experience with that ???
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
    I think I got the same problem! I tried to combine all the tables in a new view and create a query on this view.
    But when I search and my result has to be one record from the main table, I get this record more than once.
    I tried to use distinct but that does not work because each column has a different value, so the record is never the same.
    I hope someone can help us!

    Dear Java-Community :)
    At first I want to say, that my English isn't the best.. so I hope you'll understand my problem ;)
    I'm running a J2EE-Application, packed in a EAR-File, on my JBoss with following directory-structur:

    /jaw6c/build.xmlThe applet should be loaded in my "darstellungErgebnisse.jsp"-File.
    Now the strange situation:
    When I access "darstellungErgebnisse.jsp" DIRECTLY by entering a URL like "localhost:8080/jaw/darstellungErgebnisse.jsp" , the applet is loading perfectly !
    But when my server is forwarding me to the JSP-Site with
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher =  getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher(destinationPage);
    dispatcher.forward(request, response);
    . . . . . . . ..I'll get a ""java.lang.ClassFormatError: Incompatible magic value 1008813135 in class file diagram
    " -Error what means (referenced on the articles I've read here), that the diagram.class Is not found !
    I have tried to put the class file in a JAR, in different locations... using the codebase and archive tag but NOTHING solved my problem.
    So my question:
    Why I'm able to access the JSP-File directly and seeing the applet but after forwarding to the JSP-File via the Servlet, I'm not able to see anything.
    Would appreciate your help
    Thank you and best regards
    Edit:
    1) I'm able to download the diag.jar and diagram.class file from different locations
    2)I recognized, that after using the servlet, my url is changing from
    localhost:8080/jaw
    to
    localhost:8080/jaw/controller
    I tried added the class file to the position, where the controller-class file is, but without sucess.
    3)Opening the class-file with a hex-editor shows me, that
    the first bytes are
    "CAFEBABE0000002E02B9070002010007"

    Hello everybody,
    I finaly have found the solution (after 16 hours).
    Like I mentioned before, I recognized (maybe a little to late), that my path is changing when I'm using the servlet :
    localhost:8080/jaw
    to
    localhost:8080/jaw/controller
    (made by url-pattern in my web.xml).
    So when my JSP tries to acces the class file, It's looking at:
    localhost:8080/jaw/controller/applet/diagram.class
    but the file is in:
    localhost:8080/jaw/applet/diagram.class
    So the solution is, to but a codebase-tag in my applet-declaration with following delcaration "basedir="../applet"
    I hope I'll help somebody with the same problems. It took me a day to find out, that the solution was two points and a slash..... lol
    Regards to everybody

  • How to deploy a JSP with jsp:plugin with applet type?

    Hi,
    I am a new comer for JSP and when to try to a simple JSP with plugin for applet. Following is part of my JSP script:
    <jsp:plugin type="applet" code="DigitalClock" align="center" height="25" width="300"
    >
         <jsp:params>
              <jsp:param name="language" value="<%=request.getLocale().getLanguage()%>" />
              <jsp:param name="country" value="<%=request.getLocale().getCountry()%>" />
              <jsp:param name="bgcolor" value="FFFFFF" />
              <jsp:param name="fgcolor" value="CC0066" />
         </jsp:params>
              <jsp:fallback>
              <p>Unable to start plugin.</p>
         </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    ===========
    And Java plugin tell me that can't find DigitalClock class. I want to ask how to deply this JSP using deploytool.
    Thanks,
    Wise

    Hi
    It should be in such a way,
    The Jsp:param is similar to PARAM used in Applet.
    <jsp:plugin type="applet"
    code="MyApplet.class"
    width="475" height="350"
    <jsp:params>
    <jsp:param name = "PARAM1" value="VALUE1" />
    </jsp:params>
    </jsp:plugin>
    jsp:fallback Element
    It provides alternate text to browsers that do not Support OBJECT or EMBED. You can use this element in the same way as you provide alternate text in your applet.
    <jsp:fallback>
    <b> Error: This example requires java </b>
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    I hope this will help you.

  • Servlet with no dynamic code inside jsp pages

    Hello,
              I saw that a servlet is created even if there is no dynamic code inside jsp pages (scriplets & tags). Is it possible to avoid it on bea side ? (I am using portal 8).
              By the way, do you know if is it possible to define apache in order to avoid to send to bea the jsp which have no dynamic code inside ?
              thank you !

    JSP's always generate a servlet on all web containers. Apache/Tomcat is no
              different. If you have static content, make it an HTML page.

  • Call a JSP from applet and display the results in the browser

    Hello All,
    I have written an applet which performs some functionality at the clinets browser. When the applets method finishes exectution, I would like to call
    a jsp. The results of the JSP should be displayed like a normal page in the browser.
    I tried creating a HttpURLConnection and calling the jsp but two things happened
    1. The jsp call failed because the applet doesn't have a valid session id.
    2. even if I disable the valid user check at the jsp, the results of the jsp are returned as a set of bytes to the applet. They are not displayed in the browser window.
    Then I tried applet.getAppletContext().showDocument()... However with this api I cannot do a POST operation on the JSP with some input data because this takes only a URL as an input parameter.
    Please help me in this problem and I will be very gratefull to you.
    1. applet uses the same session id as the browser so that when applet makes a request to the jsp it does not get user invalid exception.
    2. the results of the jsp are displayed on the browser and not given to the applet.
    Thank you so much for your help.
    regards,
    Abhishek.

  • How to create two level dynamic list using JSP , Java Script and Oracle

    I am new in JSP. And i am facing problem in creating two level dynamic list using JSP ,Java Script where the listdata will come from Oracle 10g express edition database. Is there any easy way in JSP that is available on in ASP.NET.
    Plz response with details.

    1) Learn JDBC API [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html].
    2) Create DAO class which contains JDBC code and do all SQL queries and returns or takes ID's or DTO objects.
    3) Learn Servlet API [http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/].
    4) Create Servlet class which calls the DAO class, gets the list of DTO's as result, puts it as a request attribute and forwards the request to a JSP page.
    5) Learn JSP and JSTL [http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/]. Also learn HTML if you even don't know it.
    6) Create JSP page which uses the JSTL c:forEach tag to access the list of DTO's and iterate over it and prints a HTML list out.
    You don't need Javascript for this.

  • Char into balise jsp:scriptlet in jsp with xml syntax

    hello,
    i met a trouble with coding jsp with xml syntax,
    i use wsad to develop the jsp, and it's not allowed to put characters < or > into the balise scriptlet
    for example i cant do a loop (as i did easily with html syntax <% %> ) :
    this his the header of my jsp:
    <jsp:directive.page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" />
    <jsp:text>
    <![CDATA[ <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> ]]>
    </jsp:text>
    <jsp:text>
    <![CDATA[ <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> ]]>
    </jsp:text>
    and the code which dont work:
    <jsp:scriptlet>
    for (int i=0;i<10;i++){
    System.out.println(i);
    </jsp:scriptlet>
    i get a compilation error, did someone could help me to code dynamic content jsp ?
    ps: excuse me for my english.

    I don't use xml, so I may be way off the wall, but did you try using the CDATA sections again?
    <jsp:scriptlet>
    <![CDATA[
    for (int i=0;i<10;i++){
    System.out.println(i);

  • I/O with applets

    From what I have found, file I/O is apparently not allowed with applets; when I try it, I get this "access denied" or something error/exception.
    I would understand why that is...but is there REALLY no way to do file I/O with applets, or any way around it (maybe you can get permission somehow)?

    A sandbox security feature prevents unsigned applets from accessing your filesystem. For more information see:

  • Dynamic Fonts loading in CS4 vs CS3. What has changed?!

    Hi there,
    I've had BIG troubles loading dynamic fonts in CS4. Well I had a whole library written in AS3 for CS3 which works just fine. But the whole thing doesn't work anymore in CS4. The textfields are empty although the fonts are loaded and registered via Font.registerFont. So the loading process actually worked. But the text just doesn't appear anymore.
    In CS3 it works, in CS4 id doesn't work, with exactly the same FLA and AS files.
    The Font files were exported with CS3. Maybe there's the problem? There is another font-file I had to export with flex (due to the character limitations in the flash IDE), that actually does work(!)
    So what has changed between CS3 and CS4? There must be some reason why things don't work anymore like they did before.
    If someone is interested in the source... it's quite a lot just to get a font loaded.

    just out of curiosity -- did you update all of the applications?
