Import and jar's

I have created a small set of utility classes that are in a package. I placed them in a directory and set my CLASSPATH variable to it. I am able to use them when the just stand there as class files in their appropriate directory tree.
What I was wondering is: is there a way to zip them up into a jar and still import them into a new program from the jar?

Not quite what I am after. The problem is that the code won't compile when it's packaged in a jar, but will when I explode it out into the directory.
class JCalendar
package ameyer.util
import javax.swing.*;
class JCalendar {
JCalendar (){
}if I place the resulting class file in the directory "C:MyClasses\ameyer\util\JCalendar"
and set my CLASSPATH=.;"c:\MYClasses"
I can use them just fine in other programs just fine by using
import ameyer.util.*;
However if I JAR the classes and place the jar in the directory "C:\MYClasses" then the import does not work.

  • Moving a functional jsp and jar file to new directory breaks import?

    Simply put - how can I "move" or "copy" a functional JSP directory from the root of my site to a subdirectory
    of the same site and have it continue to work?
    here are the details:
    I have a site where the functional JSP content resides like so ...
    c:\site\itworkshere\thetestfile.jsp
    c:\site\itworkshere\WEB-INF\web.xml
    c:\site\itworkshere\lib\thejarfile.jar
    c:\site\itworkshere\classes\props.properties
    but when I copy the"itworkshere" directory to c:\site\newdirectory\itworkshere
    and try to load thetestfile.jsp page in my browser, I get ...
    thetestfile$jsp.java:6: Package com.corporatename.module.io not found in import.
    I know that the module.io classes are in thejarfile.jar, but for some reason, now that I've put the files
    in a new directory, the import is failing (simple import directive in thetestfile.jsp) And - yes - the .jar
    file is there in the new subdirectory.
    I am a newbie with jsp and just need to copy the files to new location and have them continue to work.
    Do I have to recompile the .jar with some sort of adjustments? I poked around and I don't see any assumptions about the directory structure in the build. The behavior leads me to believe that the build is assuming something
    about its location in the directory tree.
    Hope this question is clear and I appreciate any direction you can provide to steer me where to look/modify
    the necessary changes so I can move the .jsp's and .jar and not break them.

    Thanks for the suggestions and insights. I have made some progress.
    a context path of "/newdirectory/itworkshere" and a docBase of "./newdirectory/itworkshere" has resolved
    the .jsp include problem.
    However this seems a bit counter-intuitive to me considering that the default root context which is "" stands
    at the appBase which in my case is C:\Site. Since the default does not explicitly refer to the "itworkshere" directory,
    I'd expect that the newly added Context element would not have to either ---- BUT --- it does require that I include "itworkshere" in the context path and docBase (where I would expect ./newdirectory would have been sufficient since the default works that way) ... am I missing something?
    Now I havethe next odd behavior - the Servlet which resides in "itworkshere\WEB-INF\lib" is not loading when I put the appropriate URL in --> /newdirectory/itworkshere/DataCrunchingServlet
    I checked the web.xml file and it has the appropriate servlet-name and url-pattern (relative references)
    Furthermore I did a test where I simply rename the original working instance directory and again --- the URL is failing to find the servlet!!! (and yes I stopped/started Tomcat) It is as if the servlet can only be found in the originally installed scenario.
    I am extremely puzzled that the behaviors seem to indicate an assumption about the path structure, but the web.xml file is set up correctly.
    Help help!!! and Thank you.l

  • Don't know how to make my main class import a jar file

    OK, the title doesn't make much sense but here are my create-jar.bat and manifest files:
    create-jar.bat:
    jar cvmf manifest.txt dassimul-admin.jar player/ admin/ com/ connector/ common/ *.class
    manifest.txt:
    Main-Class: admin.DASAdmin
    the problem is that in connector/ folder there is the jdbc mysql connector driver (.jar file).
    in Eclipse I can add this jar to the Java Build Path, so the program runs.
    When I double-click the dassimul-admin.jar file, I get a Class Not Found Exception
    C:\MYWORK\dassimul>java -jar dassimul-admin.jar
    FATAL ERROR WHILE LOADING SQL DRIVER: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
    I think that the problem lies in the fact that admin.DASAdmin can't see and import the jar file in connector/ folder... am I right?

    It looks like you are putting the mysql jar file inside the dassimul jar. That won't work unless you write custom code. You should use the Class-Path attribute of the manifest to define a relative path(s) to the other jar(s) that you need to use.

  • How to import external jars in a CAF project?

    Hello Experts!
    Could you help me find out the way to import external jars in a CAF project. I have tried to import the jars
    in ejbmodule using "java build path--->libraries". But while trying to build the project it's displaying error and all the imported jars automatically get removed from the list.
    I have read that creation DC of type "External Library" can help me.
    1) Create a DC of type external library
    2) Copy my jars to folder "libraries"
    What should I do next? And how can I import my DC of type "External Library" to my CAF project?
    Looking forward for your suggestion.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vitaly

    Hi,
    This article will guide you how to deploy the external jar files to the application server.

  • Par Import and Export-Deploy

    Hello
    I took the ToolArea.par file (the origin) and imported it into the WD to work on it, even though I made no changes when I upload it to the portal I get an error.

    I changed the Par name and this is the error from the default trace:

    Hi Oren,
    In Tool area jar file you will be having jar files that you have to include along with newly created par file and then import the file.
    These jar files you can get from the downloaded com.sapportals.portal.navigation.par file. After getting the .bak file make it as a .zip file and extract the same into a folder there under the
    lib folder you can find the related jar files.Import these jar files through jar import so that these error can resolved.
    you can refer to these following link

  • Import MDM jars to DC

    Hi All,
    I have created a DC, I want to import a few MDM jar files to this DC. I tried copying the jar files into the lib folder of the DC and then set the path in the java build path, but when I try to build the DC the reference path that was set goes off and throws an error that it is unable to import those jars.
    I also tried adding these jars as "add external jar" but it throws the same error saying unable to resolve the path.
    Is there specific way we need to follow to add a MDM jar to a DC? The same code worked fine with a normal project, but not working when Iam using a DC. Please advise.
    Regards
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh!
    Thank you for your detailed answer. I am developing a Local DC Web Dynpro workflow, using CAF GP.
    The system I use: NetWeaver 2004s SP9 (Sneak Preview), and NetWeaver Developer Studio, version 7.0.07.
    I also deployed com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j.sda which contains all the MDM jar files, but these cannot be reached using DCs as far as I know.
    So thats why I need to create another Local DC which contains the MDM jars and after I have created it, I can add it as "Used DC" to my Web Dynpro type DC.
    The workflow is going to be displayed on Portal so I need to create Callable Objects. After I got the following document, I started to develop my WD project as DC.
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50d74ada-0c01-0010-07a8-8c118d408e59">Implementing a WD CO which Implements the GP Interface</a>
    I went through the steps you suggested, after I have built the J2EE/Enterprise Application DC I deployed it. Then I added it to my WD DC as "Used DC" but the build failed, because of errors where the implementation uses the MDM Java API.
    Have you any ideas what can cause the problem, or how to solve it?
    Could you please tell me the version of NetWeaver, which solved your problem!
    Thank you for your help in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Peter

  • Import the jar file of jfreereport to bluej

    i'm having trouble importing the jar file needed to use the jfreereport in bluej.
    as much as possible i don't want to type the SET CLASSPATH in the command window. is there a way to include the jfreereport jar file to be used in the bluej?

    You're doing privileged operations almost everywhere in this applet so you can't use the straightforward calls. At a minimum you need to put your applet in a jar, sign the jar and use AccessController.doPrivileged() to wrap the code which does the privileged operations, which is basically all of your code. In other words, you would need one to wrap your code in init(), one in start(), one in actionPerformed(), etc.

    Hi Yogesh - when you say "i don't think the file is corrupt, because it works fine in eclipse", do you mean, you are actually able to publish them to a server and test those out?
    Dont know your exact scenario, but when you say that you took the sbconfig from another machine and used it on your local system, cant we just go ahead with that? I mean, clean up your code base, and then import this latest "working" sbconfig and start afresh?

  • Eclipse importing a jar

    I have this line of code:
    import com.google.inject.Inject;
    I have imported this jar: google-api-translate-java-0.6.jar (from google)
    (right click project name-> import -> general -> archive file -> google-api-translate-java-0.6.jar
    But the interpreter does not recognize the import line (i.e. red underline).
    I am missing something easy, can someone help please?

    I am missing something easy, can someone help please?Use WinZip or the command-line "jar" utility to inspect that jar and ensure it really has a /com/google/inject folder in it, and an Inject.class file within that folder. If not, then you're using the wrong jar, or the wrong package and class name from it.

    When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:
    "The registry settings used by the I Tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.
      This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install I Tunes."
    To my knowledge no new software has been installed.  I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still
    get the same message.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions?  Do I need to download a new driver?

    I can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
    Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
    If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
    On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
    Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
    Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.

  • What is the difference between import and merge?

    When setting up my wife's new account on my son's MBP, I did not migrate all of her photos as they were in 2 or 3 separate iPhoto Libraries.  I researched this forum and found the best way to merge all of her libraries is to buy iPLM.  According to a post by Terence Devlin, if I don't use iPLM, thumbnails, previous editing, keywords, etc., will not be imported.  OK, but if we only want the originals photos and there was no editing or ratings or keywords, can't we just use the "Import" feature?
    According to Apple's instructions, the way to import one library is to first switch iPhoto to open using that library (hold down the option key when opeining iPhoto and selecting that Library).  Select your photo's, and the go to File>Export.  Then quit iPhoto and switch to the new iPhoto Library and go to File>Import and select the file that was made during the Export.  I suspect this is the approved method if you are not concerned with importing the edited photo's, keywords, etc.  Is this correct?
    I recognize from LarryHN's posts why you can no longer just drag and drop the files using the Finder, but if we don't use iPLM, I wanted to make sure I use the correct method to combine Libraries.
    BTW, speaking of using the Finder, do any of you remember the Multi-Finder?

    Yes that's correct. Remember you are not importing libraries or merging them or combining. You're exporting from one and then importing those exports to the other. That's getting the photos from one to the Finder. Then importing them.

  • Best app to import and study multiple choice questions.

    Hi,
    I'm searching for an app to help study for an exam.
    Part of the studying strategy is to study by the previous exams questions. I have those (a lot of them) in text format.
    The app would need to have:
    - Support for multiple-choice questions;
    - Easy, fast and automated way of importing the questions;
    Would be nice to have:
    - Ability to include a rich-text comment along with the right/wrong answer;
    - Support for tagging each questions.
    I've used the search function and found this:http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1041085 but it's been a while since then.
    thanks in advance
