Import Excel Worksheet

I can get Numbers to import my Excel worksheets and make changes. However, how do I save the changes in the new Numbers format? Whenever I try it says I don't have permission to make changes or save. Thanks.

Anthony,
You might try Repair Permissions in Disk Utility. Where are you trying to save to?

  • Import EXCEL Worksheet into NUMBERS

    I would like to import old excel worksheets into NUMBERS

    In addition to what James already said, iOS Numbers has fewer fonts available than even the OS X version of Numbers, so the iOS version is even more likely to have to substitute.
    Even if you go to one of the Office compatibility suites like Documents to Go or Google's QuickOffice, you may run into that problem on an iOS device - iOS apps simply do not support the number or variety of fonts available on an OS X or a Windows machine.
    If you stick to simple fonts at the office (Arial, Calibre, Times) you will usually have few problems when you move the file to an iOS device.
    Also note that things like color coding in cells, and other cell formatting in Excel may not survive the transition to Numbers in iOS (and especially not going back yet again to excel in Windows), so best to keep formatting simple as well.
    The reality is that any Tablet OS is a compromise of a true desktop/laptop computer OS, and the more complex the desktop application, the more likely the tablet version has to make major compromises in compatibility.  If you keep your desktop documents as simple and straightforward as possible, then you'll increase the ability to go back and forth from tablet to desktop.

  • Importing existing worksheet yields "Object variable or With Block variable not set" error

    There is not much more to say.  I try to import the worksheet, but it gives that error.  I do not see anywhere I can enter VAB either.  FYI, I am working with SharePoint 2007 but there was no forum for that.

    Hi SAP collegues,
    At my site, BPC Excel created this problem too "Object Variable or With Block Variable not set" .
    It turned out that this is symptom of a a dys-functioning BPC COM Plug-in in XL2007 or XL2010!
    This is a consequence that your Excel recently crashed while using BPC. And it relates to an Excel Add-in becoming disabled when the applications crashes.  Please check the following.
    Note before doing the following, close all other open Excel and BPC sessions.
    Within Excel go to File à Options
    Select the Add-Ins option on the left
    Select the <<COM Add-ins >> option in the Manage drop down, and click Go
    Make sure that the Planning and Consolidation option is selected.  If not, mark this box and click OK.
    If you do not see anything listed, return to the Add-in screen and select the Disabled Items option, and see if Planning and Consolidation is listed there.
    Let me know if you have any queries,
    Kind Regards,

  • Can't import excel file using Powerpivot Import Table Wizard

    I am new to the powerpivot in 2010 Excel.   I was trying to use the Powerpivot's import table wizard to import an Excel file into Powerpivot.  I was able to connect the target source file when I was in the wizard window testing the connection.
    However, after I accepted to import the file and clicked finished, I couldn't see all the columns of the file were completely uploaded into the PowerPivot worksheet.  Also, the file has only 138 rows but it ends up over thousands row.  Can you please
    let me kow if this feature works at all or did I miss any steps?

    My code so far just insert values into oracle tables in repository, but what is require is mapping table with contents into oracle tables.

    Thanks Lyndon, what I need is map any table someone create in Excel worksheet to Oracle repository.For example to map Excel worksheet(employee)table with its 2 columns to oracle table META_OBJECTTYPES(OBJECTTYPEID pk,OBJECTTYPENAME,OBJECTTYPEDESC, OBJECTMETATYPE,OBJECTDOMAIN). In my case I have 2 objecttypes 1)table(employee) and 2nd columns:employee_id,employee_name
    --for inserting table info manually into DB:
    INSERT INTO META_OBJECTS
    (OBJECTKEY, OBJECTTYPEID,OBJECTNAME,OBJECTDESC)
    VALUES
    (META_OBJECTS_SEQ.NEXTVAL,
    4, --TABLE
    'employee',--notice this is table name from Excel worksheet
    'Table to store employee info')
    --for inserting columns info:
    INSERT INTO META_OBJECTS
    (OBJECTKEY, OBJECTTYPEID,OBJECTNAME,OBJECTDESC)
    VALUES
    (META_OBJECTS_SEQ.NEXTVAL,5,'employee_id or name','employee column')
    notice above I insert manually Excel worksheet employee table with its two cols into oracle meta_objecttypes. What I want is VB to do this I mean if I go to Toad and erase what I insert in meta_objecttypes when I run vb, the program should map table employee with its 2 cols to Toad(DB). I hope it is clear now. Please refer to 1 st post for 3 other tables in DB

    DbConnection connection = factory.CreateConnection();
    connection.ConnectionString = connectionString;
    selectCommand.Connection = connection;
    adapter.SelectCommand = selectCommand;
    DataSet cities = new DataSet();
    adapter.Fill(cities);
    GridView1.DataSource = cities;
    GridView1.DataBind();
    Your provider might be different; the one above is for Office 2007. The [dogs$] in the selectCommand.commandText is the name of the worksheet in Excel.
    Hope this helps

  • How to import excel list into drop down menu in acrobat pro DC

    Does anyone know if an excel list of 527 items can be imported into a drop down menu in adobe acrobat DC? I am on a mac v10.10.

    I would convert the Excel worksheet into a tab delimited file. Edit that file in a text editor, not Word, into a list that meets the formatting for the array for the setItems. method. Then add the code to use that array to set the items for the drop down field. So you have something like:
    var MyItems = new Array("One", "Two", "Three");
    this.getField("Dropdown1").setItems(MyItems);
    You can then cut and paste this into the JavaScript console, highlight text and execute the text. Or cut and paste the code into a document level JavaScript.

  • Notes getting truncated while importing excel to MS project

    Hi All
    I am importing an excel sheet to MS project 2010 through import map. There are some notes related to tasks that are longer than 255 words in length. When the project map is completed, all the fields are fine other than the notes field. The data in notes
    field gets truncated to 126 characters. Can someone help me out on this.
    Udyan

    To those who may be interested in this thread.
    The jury is still out on whether this truncation bug is also present in Project 2013/Excel 2013. Meanwhile I've developed a macro that will export a formatted Excel Workbook into Project. The macro is structured to run from Excel. The main purpose of the
    macro is to export the full notes text data, (i.e. no truncation even at 255 characters), from a specified column on the Excel Worksheet into the Notes field of Project. Other basic Project data including Task Name, Outline level, Duration, Start,  &
    Resource Names are also exported. An example of the formatted Excel Worksheet is shown below.
    If you are interested in this macro, let me know.
    John
    Example of formatted data for export. Note that multiple resource assignments per task are handled (not easily done with an import map alone). The macro detects the units used in the worksheet duration column (i.e. number only,  or number with "h",
    "d", or "w") such that the proper data is exported to Project (i.e. minutes). For reference the note text shown for Task b is the text string that is truncated at 126 characters when using a simple import map. That bug is resolved by the macro. The notes text
    for Task c is is 406 characters and all of them are exported by the macro (i.e. no truncation at 255 characters). The notes text for Task d has a line feed in the text string and that is exported by the macro.

  • Importing excel with missing fonts

    I've got a spreadsheet for my employees and the spreadsheet does the neccessary calculations and I then import it into indesign cs2 on mac. The problem is it claims the fonts are missing fonts and the layout is compromised. I then have to painstakingly select the fonts. I have read an article saying that there are many different types of filetype for a font. How do I install the neccessary fonts to indesign, I took a look at the fonts folder and there was nothing in here, which is strange as it should have the fonts that are currently available in indesign.
    What filetype of the fonts do I require? Or does anyone have a script for me? The required fonts are:
    Lucidia Grande Bold
    Lucidia Grande Regular
    Times Regular
    Verdana Regular
    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks for all your input people. I am creating the excel worksheet myself from excel 2004 for mac. I can select the fonts and they're available from the selection list. I read that there are many different types of font, post-script, other type etc etc and they look upon them as different fonts though they are the same. I think that could be the problem.
    I'm using an old mac, power pc which is starting to go out of date now, though I am very happy with it and only starting to learn the software. Not sure if CS3 is compatible with my machine, and I really don't want to as most of it is working great.
    Thanks for advice people - much appreciated!

  • Adding hyperlinks to imported excel file cells

    Good Afternoon All,
    I am having trouble assigning hyperlinks and defining names to the individual cells of an imported excel file (import into Visio). Ideally, I would like to be able to hyperlink shapes in other Visio pages (of the same
    workbook) to individual cells of the imported excel file and vice versa.  Is there any way of doing this?
    Please let me know if I can clarify.

    We've used this with good success for creating multiple worksheets. If you
    like goop, its great. It may be worth a look for you. It's at this link

  • Can I prefill forms from an excel worksheet

    I am looking for an alternative to typing or copy and pasting names onto forms that I distribute to clients. I am wondering if there is a way I can link an excel worksheet or export data from a document to prefill on each form. Something similar to a mail merge of some type.
    Thank you!

    Probably the easiest way to do this is to import the data in Acrobat from a tab-delimited file that you export from Excel. The first row must contain the exact field names and subsequent rows contain one or more records. When you import, you will be able to select a row of data and it will then be used to populate the form. So the workflow is:
    1. Begin by setting up a worksheet to include the field names of the PDF form as the first row.
    2. Populate the worksheet with one or more records.
    3. Save worksheet as a tab-deliimited text file.
    4. Open the form in Acrobat
    5. Import a row of data form the text file. E.g., Tools > Forms > More Form Options > Import Data > [select text file] > [select row]

  • IMporting Excel Spreadsheets

    Hello
    We recently upgraded RH in our company from x5 to HTML 6,
    build 099. In a project I worked on with X5, I had imported Excel
    spreadsheets saved as html and generated a primary layout without
    any problem. However, in 6, when I would generate a layout, it
    would get to Updating Files and RH would crash without any error. I
    narrowed it down to 10 html files that were all Excel spreadsheets
    saved as html and imported into my project in x5. If I deleted
    those 10 files, the project would generate the layout. If I
    imported any of those files, it would crash again.
    To recreate the spreadsheets in RH wold just be too time
    consuming, and really inefficient as I expect to get regular
    updates on these spreadsheets to have available on this website via
    our intranet. Has anyone encountered this before? and
    recommendations?
    Thanks!

    Hi BradPrid and welcome to our community
    Did these spreadsheet files have any conditional text
    applied? If so, I believe a problem exists with merged table cells
    (which seem quite likely coming from Excel) when you use
    conditional text.
    If you can't seem to sort it, one thought would be to simply
    import the Excel HTML files as baggage files. Then simply link to
    them or maybe use redirects.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Data open/save-as in Excel worksheet

    Hi all,
    i created implement one diagram into my existing vi for opening and saving the data in microsoft excel worksheet but it doesn't work. I have been looking through Excel Macro Example but couldn't make sense of it much.

    You need to learn about data dependency!
    In your VI you are performing three actions simultaneously:
    Reading from an instrument and collecting data and then writing it to a text file in tab-delimited format, and then reading that file, but not doing anything with it.
    Opening an Excel workbook and then a worksheet, and then closing the reference to the workbook.
    Opening the Excel application and then closing it the reference to it.
    Why do you need to open/close Excel if you're already writing the data to a text file in tab-delimited format? Excel can read this directly.
    I would strongly suggest going through the LabVIEW tutorials that discuss data dependency and how to code in LabVIEW.
