Import & export database

hi
iam a vovice user & working on tables can you tell me detailed solution that how can i export database from my computer & how can i import that database on another computer

Hi...
i am a vovice user & working on tables can you tell me detailed solution that how can i export database from my computer & how can i import that database on another computerThere are lots of documents available on this topic.FOr any oracle related document you can go to [http://tahiti.oracle.com/].
What is the oracle version you are using. If on 10g or above use expdp.
Export can be done
1. Object level 2. Schema level 3. Full 4.Tablespace level
I would prefer instead of taking a full export backup and importing it into another database, take the export of the required application schemas and import it into the target database.

  • How to Import/Export database tables from one server to other in oracle8i

    Hello friend,
    Please can any one tell me how to import/export groups of database tables from one server with oracle to another using VB.net. It would be nice if some one can provide some code of it.
    I am a software developer and I am in middle of a large project development, in which I need to export a large oracle database from one server to another efficiently.
    Its very urgent so please someone help me.

    At command prompt (source db)
    set ORACLE_SID=db_name
    exp system/password@db_name full=y buffer=104857600 file=(c:\file1.dmp, c:\file2.dmp....) log=c:\exp.log filesize=2000M
    Then ftp the export dump files (in binary) to the other server or copy to target server over the network.
    At command prompt (target db)
    set ORACLE_SID=db_name
    imp system/password@db_name full=y ignore=y buffer=104857600 file=(c:\file1.dmp, c:\file2.dmp....) log=c:\imp.log filesize=2000M
    If the path names of the datafiles are going to be different in the target server (as compared to the source), then precreate the tablespaces before import. Set buffer value accordingly.

  • Cannot execute import/export database hana studio

    Hi,
    We need to create a new Test company from the Productive Company Database, A few days ago we didn't have any problem executing the import/export functionality in HANA Studio:
    export "DB_PRD"."*" as binary into '/hana/Backup' with replace threads 10;
    import "DB_PRD"."*" as binary from '/hana/Backup/' with replace threads 10
    rename schema "DB_PRD" to "DB_TST";
    But now, when we want to do this we have the next error:
    Could not execute 'import "DB_PRD"."*" as binary from '/hana/Backup/' with replace threads 10 rename schema ...' in 674 ms 276 µs .

  • Acessing BSEG by import/export method

    hi !
    anyone please gexpalin me or give me links to how to access the BSEG TABLE  by IMPORT EXPORT OR macros method! o
    reward points will be given to best answer

    IMPORT - Get data
    Variants
    1. IMPORT f itab FROM MEMORY.
    2. IMPORT f itab FROM DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key.
    3. IMPORT DIRECTORY INTO itab FROM DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key.
    4. IMPORT f itab FROM DATASET dsn(ar) ID key.
    Variant 1
    IMPORT f itab FROM MEMORY.
    Additions
    1. ... TO g (for each field f to be imported)
    2. ... ID key
    Effect
    Imports data objects (fields or tables) from the ABAP/4 memory (see EXPORT ). Reads in all data without an ID that was exported to memory with "EXPORT ... TO MEMORY." . In contrast to the variant IMPORT FROM DATABASE , it does not check that the structure matches in EXPORT and IMPORT .
    The return code value is set as follows:
    SY-SUBRC = 0 The data objects were successfully imported.
    SY_SUBRC = 4 The data objects could not be imported, probably
    because the ABAP/4 memory was empty.
    The contents of all objects remain unchanged.
    Addition 1
    ... TO g (for each field f to be imported)
    Effect
    Takes the field contents stored under f from the global ABAP/4 memory and places them in the field g .
    Addition 2
    ... ID key
    Effect
    Imports only data stored in ABAP/4 memory under the ID key .
    The return code value is set as follows:
    SY-SUBRC = 0 The data objects were successfully imported.
    SY_SUBRC = 4 The data objects could not be imported, probably
    because an incorrect ID was used.
    The contents of all objects remain unchanged.
    Variant 2
    IMPORT f itab FROM DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key.
    Additions
    1. ... TO g (for each field f to be imported)
    2. ... MAJOR-ID maid (instead of ID key )
    3. ... MINOR-ID miid (together with MAJOR-ID maid )
    4. ... CLIENT h (after dbtab(ar) )
    5. ... USING form
    Effect
    Imports data objects (fields, field strings or internal tables) with the ID key from the area ar of the database dbtab (see also EXPORT )
    The return code value is set as follows:
    SY-SUBRC = 0 The data objects were successfully imported.
    SY_SUBRC = 4 The data objects could not be imported, probably
    because an incorrect ID was used.
    The contents of all objects remain unchanged.
    Example
    Import two fields and an internal table:
    TABLES INDX.
    DATA: INDXKEY LIKE INDX-SRTFD,
          F1(4), F2 TYPE P,
          BEGIN OF TAB3 OCCURS 10,
            CONT(4),
          END OF TAB3.
    INDXKEY = 'INDXKEY'.
    IMPORT F1 F2 TAB3 FROM DATABASE INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.
    Notes
    The structure of fields, field strings and internal tables to be imported must match the structure of the objects exported to the dataset. In addition, the objects must be imported under the same name used to export them. If this is not the case, either a runtime error occurs or no import takes place.
    Exception: You can lengthen or shorten the last field if it is of type CHAR , or add/omit CHAR fields at the end of the structure.
    Addition 1
    ... TO g (for each field f to be imported)
    Effect
    Takes the field contents stored under the name f from the database and places them in g .
    Addition 2
    ... MAJOR-ID maid (instead of ID key )
    Addition 3
    ... MINOR-ID miid (together with MAJOR-ID maid )
    Effect
    Searches for a record with an ID that matches maid in the first part (length of maid ) and - if MINOR-ID miid is also specified - is greater than or equal to miid in the second part.
    Addition 4
    ... CLIENT h (after dbtab(ar) )
    Effect
    Takes the data from the client h (only with client-specific import/export databases).
    Example
    TABLES INDX.
    DATA F1.
    IMPORT F1 FROM DATABASE INDX(AR) CLIENT '002' ID 'TEST'.
    Addition 5
    ... USING form
    Effect
    Does not read the data from the database. Instead, calls the FORM routine form for each record read from the database without this addition. This routine can take the data key of the data to be retrieved from the database table work area and write the retrieved data to this work area schreiben; it therefore has no parameters.
    Note
    Runtime errors
    Depending on the operands or the datsets to be imported, various runtime errors may occur.
    Variant 3
    IMPORT DIRECTORY INTO itab FROM DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key.
    Additions
    1. ... CLIENT h (after dbtab(ar) )
    Effect
    Imports an object directory stored under the specified ID with EXPORT into the table itab .
    The return code value is set as follows:
    SY-SUBRC = 0 The directory was successfully imported.
    SY_SUBRC = 4 The directory could not be imported, probably because an incorrect ID was used.
    The internal table itab must have the same structure as the Dictionary structure CDIR (INCLUDE STRUCTURE ).
    Addition 1
    ... CLIENT h (after dbtab(ar) )
    Effect
    Takes data from the client h (only with client-specific import/export databases).
    Example
    Directory of a cluster consisting of two fields and an internal table:
    TABLES INDX.
    DATA: INDXKEY LIKE INDX-SRTFD,
          F1(4), F2 TYPE P,
          BEGIN OF TAB3 OCCURS 10,
            CONT(4),
          END OF TAB3,
          BEGIN OF DIRTAB OCCURS 10.
            INCLUDE STRUCTURE CDIR.
    DATA  END OF DIRTAB.
    INDXKEY = 'INDXKEY'.
    EXPORT F1 F2 TAB3 TO
           DATABASE INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.    " TAB3 has 17 entries
    IMPORT DIRECTORY INTO DIRTAB FROM DATABASE INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.
    Then, the table DIRTAB contains the following:
    NAME OTYPE FTYPE TFILL FLENG
    F1 F C 0 4
    F2 F P 0 8
    TAB3 T C 17 4
    The meaning of the individual fields is as follows:
    NAME : Name of stored object OTYPE : Object type ( F : Field, R : Field string / Dictionary structure, T : Internal table) FTYPE : Field type ( C : Character, P : Packed, ...)
    Field strings and internal tables have the type C. TFILL : Number of internal table lines filled FLENG : Length of field in bytes
    With internal tables: Length of header line.
    Variant 4
    IMPORT f itab ... FROM DATASET dsn(ar) ID key.
    Note
    This variant is not to be used at present.

    When using export/import between different releases, you need to use the older version of export to create your dump file. In your case, you must use the 8.0.5 export utility to export from your 8.1.7 database. You need a tnsname in your 8.0.5 tnsnames.ora that points to your 8.1.7 database. Then you use SQL Net to connect and do the export. So, instead of doing exp system/manager you would do exp system/manager@tnsname. Just be sure to use the 8.0.5 export, and your import will work fine.

  • Export/Import full database dump fails to recreate the workspaces

    Hi,
    We are studying the possibility of using Oracle Workspace to maintain multiple versions of our business data. I recently did some tests with the import/export of a dump that contains multiple workspaces. I'm not able to import the dump successfully because it doesn't recreate the workspaces on the target database instance, which is an empty Oracle database freshly created. Before to launch the import with the Oracle Data Pump utility, I have the "LIVE" workspace that exists in the WMSYS.WM$WORKSPACES_TABLE table. After the import is done, there is nothing in that table...
    The versions of the Oracle database and Oracle Workspace Manager are the same on source and target database:
    Database version (from the V$VERSION view):
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE     10.2.0.4.0     Production
    TNS for 64-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    Workspace Manager version (from the WM_INSTALLATION view):
    OWM_VERSION: 10.2.0.4.3
    In order to recreate the tablespaces successfully during the full import of the dump, the directory structure for the tablespaces is the same on the target database's computer. I used the instructions given in this document, section "1.6 Import and Export Considerations" at page 1-19:
    http://www.wyswert.com/documentation/oracle/database/11.2/appdev.112/e11826.pdf
    Considering that the release of Oracle database used is version 10.2.0.4, I use the following command to import the dump since it doesn't contain the WMSYS schema:
    impdp system/<password>@<database> DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir DUMPFILE=expfull.dmp FULL=y TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=append LOGFILE=impfull.log
    The only hints I have in the import log file are the following block of lines:
    1st one:
    ==============================

    The target operating system is in french... here is a raw translation:

    By the way, the computer of the source database is Vista 64 in english and the destination computer is Vista 64 in french, do you think this has anything to do with these error messages? The parameters of the NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS view are the same in the source and target database...

    The call to the TO_DATE function with the string of the date format is incompatible with the format and language set in the NLS parameters of my database. Since I know that the "imp" and "exp" commands work client side (unlike "impdp" and "expdp"), I did a full export of the source database from the computer on which I try to import the dump to have the same language exported in the dump and I was able to import the dump successfully.
    But, I would like to use the Data Pump tool instead of the old import and export tools. How would it be possible to set the NLS parameters that "impdp" must use before to launch the import of the dump?
    The NLS parameters are set to the "AMERICAN" settings in both source and destination database when I validate that with the "NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS" view. The dump I did with "expdp" on the source database exported the data with the "AMERICAN" settings as well...
    On the destination database, the computer language is in french and I guess it is considered by the Data Pump import tool since it outputs the log in the language of the computer and it tries to do a TO_DATE with the wrong date format because it works with the "CANADIAN FRENCH" settings...
    Any suggestions? I'll continue to read on my side and re-post if I find the solution.
    Thanks!

  • SQL Server Import Export Wizard fails while trying to retrieve the data from FastObjects Database

    When trying to import data from FastObjects database to SQL Server 2008 R2 using import/ export wizard we get the following error message :

    Hi Chennie,
    Thank you for the post.
    Does the issue persists after you use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" option instead of “Copy data from one or more tables or views” option? If so, the issue may occur due to incorrect data type matching between the FastObjects database
    data types and SSIS data types. In this condition, I don’t think it is necessary to upgrade the SQL Server version. Since you can open the Column Mappings dialog box, please try to modify the data type mapping manually.
    In addition, the issue seems to be the same as the issue described in the following blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataaccesstechnologies/archive/2010/09/09/sql-server-import-export-wizard-fails-while-trying-to-retrieve-the-data-from-pervasive-database.aspx

  • Export/Import of Database to increase the number of datafiles

    My BW system is close to 400 GB and it only has 3 datafiles.  Since we have 8 CPU cores, I need 8 datafiles.  What is the best way to export/import the database in order to achive 8 datafiles?

    With a BW system that size you can probably get away with it.  You most likely do at least a few full loads so all that data will be evenly distrubuted when you drop and reload.  If you can clean up some of your PSAs and log tables you can probably shrink the 3 files down a little anyway.  If you do little maintenance like that every few weeks, after locking auto growth, you can probably shave 2-3 GBs off each file each week.  Do that for a few months and your large files will love 20 GBs while the other ones start to grow.  Rebuilding indexes also helps with that.  You will be surprised how fast they will level out that way.
    With regard to performance you should be fine.  I certainly wouldnt do it at 10 am on Tuesday though :-).  You can probably get away with it over a weekend though.  It will take basically no time at all to create them and very little IO.  If you choose to clean out the 3 existing ones that will take some time.  I have found it takes about 1-3 hours to shrink a 150 GB datafile down to 100 GBs, that was with 8 CPUs, 30 GBs of RAM, and an SAN that I don't fully understand

  • Issues with Export/Import using Database & Shared buffer

    Hi All,
    I have a method that calls a program via a job and I am having issues passing data between the two.
    Note that two different users process the method and program (via job) resp. This is how I am calling the second prog-
    SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
                 VIA JOB     l_jobname
                     NUMBER  l_jobcount
                     USER    i_user
                 AND RETURN.
    I need to pass data from method to  the second program and vice versa and then the method continues its processing with the data acquired from the second program.
    I have tried using Import/Export using database and also shared buffer. What I have found is that most of the times I am able to pass data from method to program. However the job takes a couple of min to execute and I think that the data is not making back to the method in time.
    I have looked at some useful forum links-
    Problem with export/import in back ground
    Re: EXPORT/IMPORT  to MEMORY
    but havent been able to find an answer yet. Any solution? Thanks in advance for your help!
    Liz

    Hi Suhas, Subhankar
    I have tested the scenario without the job previously itself and it works. Thats the reason, i am trying with the job now as my requirement is that I need to change the user while executing the second report.
    Here is an example of my import/export - I am passing the return value from the second report to the first.
    Code in second report-
    DATA: INDXKEY LIKE INDX-SRTFD VALUE 'RET1'.
    INDX-AEDAT = SY-DATUM.
    INDX-USERA = SY-UNAME.
    EXPORT RETURN1 TO SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.
    Code in first report -
    SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
                     VIA JOB     l_jobname
                         NUMBER  l_jobcount
                         USER    i_user
                     AND RETURN.
    Once Job close FM is executed successfully, I import the values as follows
    IMPORT RETURN1 TO RETURN1 FROM SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY3.
    INDXKEY is having value RET1.
    However Return1 is not having any values in first report. It has some value in executed without the job
    Please note that I have tried Export/import with Database too and I am getting the same results.

    I want to export full database ORACLE 9i from SOLARIS 9 to import full database on ORACLE 9i on windows.
    I set oracle environment and NSL_LANG with command:
    bash-3.00$ export ORACLE_SID=TIS
    bash-3.00$ export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.TH8TISASCII
    and then run command to export:
    bash-3.00$ exp system/manager@TIS full=y file= /u03/dmp/TISfull.dmp log=/u03/dmp/exp_TIS.log

    #### HOW to solve it.
    ## To check the default temporary tablespace of the database:
    SQL> select property_name, property_value from database_properties;
    ## check DEFAULT_TEMP_TABLESPACE, if it use wrong temporary tablespace, run:
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp;
    ## check user with temporary tablespace, run command:
    SQL> select username, temporary_tablespace, account_status from dba_users;
    ## change temporary tablespace:
    SQL> create temporary tablespace temp1 tempfile '/data/u01/app/oracle/oradata/TIS/temp_b.dbf' size 100m;
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp1;
    SQL> drop tablespace temp including contents and datafiles;
    SQL> create temporary tablespace temp tempfile '/data/u01/app/oracle/oradata/TIS/temp01.dbf' size 100m autoextend off extent management local uniform size 1m;
    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp;
    SQL> drop tablespace temp1 including contents and datafiles;

  • Regarding Workflow 2.6.2 backup/migration/import/export

    hi folks. i m quite amazed that this forum does not provide any answer to the question of taking backup of workflow 2.6.2 or import/export of owf_mgr schema. if one cannot take backup how this oracle workflow is stable. how this product is suitable for any organization. its a very basic requirement. ok its about processes and states.... but, even then i cant get the logic of not taking a backup. sometime we have to move data across servers
    the only answer that i have seen for this is way back jan-09-2003 that its not possible yet. its now 2006 any one who can guide may be i got something or many a things wrong.

    hi folks,
    thanks for reply
    Matt: considering ur statment para what i get for para 1
    Full backup is fine - although there are some objects which are owned by SYS, as long as youare going from one database with WF installed to another one, you should be OK.
    is
    what i understand that u are talking about taking backup of entire database and not of just owf_mgr from export utility. if this is the case then do i really need to have owf_mgr user/schema installed where i have to import that backup
    Secondly for Para 2
    Runtime data is a different thing altogether, although I can't really see why you would want to migrate the runtime data from one DB to another.
    what i get from ur description of Runtime data here, is about the data that represents different process states relavant data which is stored and maintained in different tables. Am I Right?
    if the answer is yes then the answer to ur question (asked in the last line of ur statment) is that i dont want only runtime data to be exported rather i wanna export full user and its schema. and the reason from moving it from one server to another server is simply to have backup for the time of system crash or failiure
    I am keenly anticipating ur reply

  • Import from database an internal table with generic Type : Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hi everyone,
    i have a requirement in which i'm asked to transfer data flow between two frameworks, from WD Component to another. The problem is that i have to transfer internal tables with generic types. i used the import/ export from database approache but in that way i get an error message saying "Object references and data references not yet supported".
    Here is my code to extract a generic internal table from memory.
        DATA l_table_f4 TYPE TABLE OF REF TO data.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <l_table_f4> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
      DATA lo_componentcontroller TYPE REF TO ig_componentcontroller .
      DATA: ls_indx TYPE indx.
      lo_componentcontroller =   wd_this->get_componentcontroller_ctr( ).
      lo_componentcontroller->fire_vh_search_action_evt( ).
      ASSIGN l_table_f4 TO <l_table_f4>.
    *-- Import table for Help F4
      IMPORT l_table_f4 TO <l_table_f4> FROM DATABASE indx(v1) TO ls_indx ID 'table_help_f4_ID'.
    The error message is desplayed when last instruction is executed " IMPORT l_table_f4...".
    I saw another post facing the same problem but never solved "Generic Type for import Database".
    Please can anyone help ?
    Thanks & Kind regards.

    hi KIan,
    go:
    general type
    TYPE : BEGIN OF ty_itab,
               field1 TYPE ztab-field1,
               field2 TYPE ztab-field2,
    *your own fields here:
               field TYPE i,
               field(30) TYPE c,
               END OF ty_itab.
    work area
    DATA : gw_itab TYPE ty_itab.
    internal table
    DATA : gt_itab TYPE TABLE OF ty_itab.
    hope this helps

  • Error import / export in console standalone

    hai all,
    error import / export in console standalone
    iam logged in 9i console standalone pc not connected any other pc.
    unable to import or export or load any database
    because the error shows that
    only on OMS mode is possible
    how can import or export or load?
    any help?
    thanks in advance
    rcs
    ------

    I have no idea what you are asking or in what environment you are work.
    Lets start with the need for a version number ... 9i is not a version ... it is a marketing label. Do you mean 9.0.? or 9.2.0.1 or 9.2.0.8 no one knows.
    Second I have no idea what a you intend to convey with the statement "console standalone pc."
    Third "unable" means what? That the pc crashed and burned and is a smoldering cinder or you received some error message you thought too unimportant to post? Again ... you've given us no useful information.
    Finally what do you mean by OMS? Is this OMS as in the Java application running as part of the Grid Control or something else?
    Finally what are you trying to import? How? A clear explanation is required.
    If someone reading what you post can not understand or duplicate what you did because of lack of information you will not receive any help.
