Regarding Workflow 2.6.2 backup/migration/import/export

hi folks. i m quite amazed that this forum does not provide any answer to the question of taking backup of workflow 2.6.2 or import/export of owf_mgr schema. if one cannot take backup how this oracle workflow is stable. how this product is suitable for any organization. its a very basic requirement. ok its about processes and states.... but, even then i cant get the logic of not taking a backup. sometime we have to move data across servers
the only answer that i have seen for this is way back jan-09-2003 that its not possible yet. its now 2006 any one who can guide may be i got something or many a things wrong.

hi folks,
thanks for reply
Matt: considering ur statment para what i get for para 1
Full backup is fine - although there are some objects which are owned by SYS, as long as youare going from one database with WF installed to another one, you should be OK.
is
what i understand that u are talking about taking backup of entire database and not of just owf_mgr from export utility. if this is the case then do i really need to have owf_mgr user/schema installed where i have to import that backup
Secondly for Para 2
Runtime data is a different thing altogether, although I can't really see why you would want to migrate the runtime data from one DB to another.
what i get from ur description of Runtime data here, is about the data that represents different process states relavant data which is stored and maintained in different tables. Am I Right?
if the answer is yes then the answer to ur question (asked in the last line of ur statment) is that i dont want only runtime data to be exported rather i wanna export full user and its schema. and the reason from moving it from one server to another server is simply to have backup for the time of system crash or failiure
I am keenly anticipating ur reply

  • Is there a note app that features encryption, folders, backup, and import/export?

    Hi friends,
I have been searching for a month for a Notetaking app for the iphone which has these attributes:
able to import/export notes from some form of text file suchas csv. I need to bring over a large number of notes from my android phone. I can perl-script and should be able to massage my data into any format requiredby any text-based importer. I would expect this feature to be based either on itunes or a proprietary sync program on a Mac.
encryption (not just a password), preferably AES-256 bit orhigher
features categories, tags, or folders (any one of these isfine)
able to backup and restore notes in encrypted form, in caseof loss of device
You would think this is a very basic set of features, but I have notbeen able to find anything on the App store that includes all of thesefeatures. If you know of any such app, please let me know.
    Thanks a lot!

There should be some utilities that might do that on macupdate.com if you search around in there. It could be done as a macro action in Photoshop, but that's an expensive solution for this. VueScan could also potentially do it, but is also not cheap.
Also, some of the utilities that come bundled with scanners may be able to do this, but only when running the scanner they came with.
Definitely the features exist on the Mac like auto-recognition of multiple images on a page, auto-rotation, auto-levels, PDF export etc. You just need to find them in the right combination in the right app.

  • Import/Export in Background submission

    Hi experts.,
I am passing two internal tables to another program using Submit statement via Job. Then i am importing those two tables in another program. However i think the tables are not populated. What could be the reason for this. Also how can you debug the background job submission?
    Thanks.
    Warm regards,
    Harshad.

    Hi
For tables , in your import export statement , just see have you used [ ] , if not the please use this.
If does not work then as well , then see to use EXPORT TO datbase as follows
EXPORT obj1 ... objn TO DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key.
    Refer this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_45b/helpdata/en/34/8e73a36df74873e10000009b38f9b8/content.htm
b> after executing your program (first get the job name in debugging mode) , go to sp01 ,  check tyhe checkbox against your job name ,  just write JDBG (transaction code area) and press enter , it will take you in debudding your job. First it will execute some sap standard program , just get it done and then it will jump top your code.
    Hope it is helpful.

  • Migration (import) of simple Access table+screen to Apex is failing

    Hi,
I have tried Exporting and then migrating an Access application - but have had repeated failures on the import step. These attempts are on the Oracle Application Express environment for evaluating Apex - I have a Workspace allocation (wsmihail1) on the Oracle database ( my schema is DBS1). User id is [email protected]
    Now, I have tried creating a Real simple Access application - 1 simple table & 1 form & 1 comand button !!
    Still crash::

    Hi Mike,
Hopefully I can help to clarify a few things for you. An MS Access application migration essentially involves 3 steps, to be completed in the following order:
    1. Export the database and application information from your MS Access MDB file using the Exporter tool for MS Access. This tool generates two files: an XML file containing the database schema information, and a SQL script containing the application metadata. You've already completed this step.
    2. Migrate the database schema to Oracle. Using Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench, load the XML file generated in step 1, to capture & convert the MS Access database objects to Oracle.
    3. Migrate the application to Oracle Application Express. Using Oracle Application Express Application Migrations, create a Migration Project to retrieve the application metadata from the SQL script generated in step 1. The Migration Project should be associated with the Oracle schema containing the migrated database objects (from step 2).
It sounds like you have carried out steps 1 and 3, but skipped step 2. I would recommend that you do the following:
    * Download the latest release of Oracle SQL Developer, version 1.2.1, from OTN - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index.html. It incorporates the Migration Workbench. Review the accompanying documentation from the Help > Table of Contents menu item, specifically the chapter "Migrating Third Party Databases".
    * Create a Migration Repository, which is used by the Migration Workbench during the migration process. In order to do so, you need to create a database user for the Migration Repository. I would recommend reviewing the documentation for further information on this. The section titled "Before You Start Migrating: General Information" will assist you.
    * From the menu bar go to Migration > Capture Microsoft Access Exported XML, where you should browse to the location of the XML file generated by the Exporter tool in step 1. This captures the MS Access database schema information, and create a Captured Model of the information.
    * Right-click on the captured model, and select "Convert to Oracle Model" from its context menu. This creates a converted model, which is a representation of the structure of the destination Oracle database.
    * From the menu bar go to Tools > Preferences, to launch the Preferences dialog. On the Preferences dialog go to Migration > Generation Options, and select the "Least Privilege Schema Migration" and click OK.
    * Right-click on the Converted Model & select "Generate" from its context menu. This will generate the DDL statements to create the migrated database objects. I would recommend that you save the statements as a SQL script.
    * Create a new Oracle connection in Oracle SQL Developer, providing the connection details to the schema associated with your Oracle APEX workspace. Then run the SQL script containing the output from the "Generate" step. This will create the objects in the schema associated with your Oracle APEX workspace.
    * Log in to the Oracle APEX workspace, and I would recommend creating a new Migration Project. You should then be in a position to review the information retrieved from your MS Access application forms & reports.
I hope this helps. Apologies for the length of the posting, but hopefully the points I've outlined will make the process a little clearer for you.

  • Import/Export Log of workflows

    Hi all,
I have one very simple doubt. When I import/export any workflow, a message
gets displayed that w/f is successfully imported/exported. Now say I want to
know the exact date/time of when a particular workflow is imported in the
    studio.
Can I know that from any log file ? Is there any feature to know that?
    thanks in advace.

    Hi Olli,
For the multiple numeric limit test, you will need to individually specify which numeric limits you want to export. Lets suppose you have 3 sets of limits for your multiple numeric limit test. If you wanted to export the first set, you would use the syntax
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.Low
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.High
You will need to do this for each set of limits you have in your array. Simply replace the "?" with the index of the element in the array.
    Hope this helps!

  • Backup during import vs vaults

Hi new to mac and aperture and curious to find out the best practice for storing, backup and restore of photos. Previously I would have stored my pics in folders and used a sync program to mirror them to a network drive but aperture prefers to have files imported into its iscsi like container and manage it all from one place. This has presented a few issues for me,
    1. I can no longer see my backup of pics from a media or windows device on the network, so my get around will have to be to export folders periodically as a separate archive on the network.
    2. Space is not a premium but I fear the aperture library creates a backup during import to a folder called aperture which I guess is the library itself. Now I am no expert but a backup inside a production library does not make much sense
    3. Vaults synced to a network drive seems the most practical solution but again vaults store the pics in the folder names. This is a problem for me as I catalogue my projects by year and my albums by events during the year. If I open the vault all my albums are showing but in one big group.
    4. Finding this all very confusing with a lot of conflicting info all over the web, maybe someone can advise and give me a clear picture once and for all on how all the backup options should work together both for backup and for restore and possibly for sharing over the network from all types of computer.
    Tar!

You can use Aperture with remotely stored images rather than importing the originals. This is known as working with referenced images. This is probably going to be slower to use depending on your network speed and external drive types. But this method may better satisfy your archiving and accessibility needs requirements.
You can create multiple Libraries such as one for each year. Aperture can split and merge libraries now.
There are several recent posts (essays should I say) from great experts on this forum where solid advice and best practice is described regarding the kind of system you want to employ.

  • Migrating owb using import/export

    Hi All,
Please could anyone throw some light on how to Migrate owb using import/export.
we are presently having owb installed on 32 bit database with RHEL 4 os. we planning to migrate to 64 bit database with 0el5 os.
we have planned to do export/import. my question in this is could we use export/import for migrating owb schemas with owb installed in the new server.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regrads,
    Prajwal

    Hi Prajwal,
I do not recommend exporting and importing the owb repository schema, it will not work properly.
First, create a new repository on the new db. Then export your projects (make sure you select include all dependencies) using owb metadata export and evetnually import it into the new database.
Note that you wil loose all deployment status information.
If you also have target schemas in your db, then unregister them first before migrating the data to the new db. In the new db you have to register them at the new repository. Finally you have to redeploy all mappings (using replace) in order to make them work again.

  • Migrate/Import/[etc.] PL/SQL Web-Toolkit Application to APEX

    Hello all,
I've only recently learned about APEX and have dabbled with it for a little while, and I'm quite impressed with how amazingly quick it is to develop applications with it.
A few co-workers and myself are trying to convince "The Management" that we should pursue using APEX to develop our Enterprise Applications. Currently we write our web apps using the PL/SQL WebToolkit, accessing our applications at URL's like: http://host/dad/[package.]procedure .
Recently (within the past month) there was a convention in the Southern California region where I believe some people from TUSC presented on APEX. As I understand it, they said it was possible to migrate existing applications (written in packages and procedures) to APEX. I'm also told that it is possible to view the PL/SQL that is rendered by APEX to display the application.
We've practically sold our Director, however he has a few outstanding issues he's asked me to research, as he feels his boss would be most concerned with:
    * How much effort will it take to migrate/import/etc the PL/SQL WebToolkit Application to APEX
    * Should the need arise, how much effort would it take to move from APEX back to PL/SQL WebToolkit
I've tried researching these topics over the past few days and I haven't really come up with much. I realize that you can call PL/SQL packages/procedures/etc from within a region, but as I read on a thread in these forums ( How to jump from mod_plsql to APEX! ), you still won't be able to take advantage of the Items, Computations, Processes, etc. Is there, in fact, a way of importing a PL/SQL-developed Web Application into APEX to take advantage of all its tools? I would imagine it would be quite a feat to be able to create the items for the form fields, maintain the layout and such, but I need to provide my Director with as much information on these topics as possible.
Many of us developers are really excited at the prospect of developing with this tool; it would be a shame to lose the opportunity over not being able to provide any information on the topics above.
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
    -Luis

    Hi Luis,
I had a client a couple of years back who had an existing PL/SQL Web Toolkit application who used the htp.p etc calls to generate the HTML (and in some cases CSS) for their site. They were interested in using Application Express and asked me to design a new administration module for their site (which I did). The development went extremely smoothly so they then asked about re-writing their existing site in APEX (since maintaining the old site was not a straight-forward task).
Fortunately for me, the original designer had the foresight to put lots of the application logic into packages (which I could reuse), but I quickly (about 2 or 3 days from memory) created a custom theme and templates in APEX which gave the same look and feel as the existing site.
Personally, I think if you tried to re-use the existing htp.p calls (by using PL/SQL regions etc), then you would be missing out on some of the major advantages of using APEX (such as the ability to easily change the look and feel of your application).
I always think that migrating to a new tool/platform etc is a great opportunity to re-examine your existing code to perhaps see if you can do things differently (speed up those queries, perhaps make the navigation more logical etc).
So, yes you can certainly re-use lots of your existing packaged logic, but I would also take the leap and use the features that Application Express provides to make future maintenance of your application easier.
    Just my thoughts.
    John.

  • Problem of Data Import/Export after migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g

We have encountered the following problem after the migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g R1 and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3 to 9.1.
In our development server, a view was created by joining of one feature class (point feature), two attribute tables and one F table. We have to perform a process to export all the features in that particular view from the development server and then import them to the production server. In total, there should be about 60,000 points.
Form our past experience (using Oracle DB 9i and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3); we spent about 15-20 minutes to complete the import-export procedure. However, after the system migration, the speed of the import-export procedures is extremely slow, which is talking about 2 hours for ONLY EXPORTING 5MB data.
We would like to seek advice in solving the above problems. THANKS!

Try to delete old stats, then gather new stats on the schema and try the export again.

  • Suggestion regarding Oracle import & export utility

    hi
I am navneet,I want to give some suggestion on Oracle import & export utility to Oracle Corporation. can u tell me where to send these suggestions

It would seem to me that if they are enhancement requests, then the right way would be to file an enhancement request. If they are bugs, then file SRs so bugs can be entered.

  • Talk21 email service stopping, how do I backup/migrate?

I've used Talk21 for my email for years and years. It went to Yahoo, then BT and I've just had an email saying that its going to stop and I have 3 options. Buy BT broadband, pay £1.60/month or leave.
I have Virgin BB, don't want to pay a monthly fee, and although not too happy with it, I'll have to let it go and use my Gmail email.
So how can I backup my Talk21 email? It was my prime email (I learnt not to use a ISP email in case you leave...).
I have numerous emails and folders etc that I want to keep. I've always just used it as webmail and on my iPhone nits also on my iMac mail app.
Is there any easy way to backup/export/save all my email? I suppose I could forward all the email to my Gmail one, but this would take ages with the number I have. I also don't have that long to do it, finishes around start of Sep.
Any help on someone who has done similar, or anything I can do.
    Cheers

    the loc-man wrote:
Sorry to be a little unsure here, and again thanks for the help.
So if I export the Inbox (I have 2 under Inbox , Virgin and Talk21), If I chose the Talk21 inbox and export, will this include my folders as well?
No, you must export each folder individually, and in the case of multiple accounts you must seperate the 2 accounts. ie: export all T21 mailboxes and after completion move them to a folder caller Talk21, then do the same with Virgin This will avoid having multiple inboxes with no way of knowing which is which when you import them.
Sorry dont undertand what you mean when you say "You are moving these over the internet to Gmail and from Talk21 (on the export), so it won't be instant, I suggest letting each mailbox finish importing/exporting before starting the next"
I thought I was going to import them into Gmail somehow?
You are, but Gmail stores its email on the web (as does any Imap account) so while you are importing locally to Mail, Mail is then pushing them online to Gmail, which takes time. Too much going on at one time will possibly cause a failure.
Just take your time, it will all work just fine.

  • Attunity connectors for Oracle in Import Export Wizard in SQL Server 2008 R2

Is there a way we can see the Attunity connectors drivers in the Import/Export Wizard (64 bit) for SQL Server 2008 R2?
Although I made it work for SSIS, I would need these drivers in the Import/Export wizard so as to automate it for numerous number of tables which I want to migrate.
Can the Attunity connectors for Oracle be used in the Import/Export wizard? If so please let me know.
    Regards,
    Ashutosh.
    Ashutosh.

I have 100 tables to migrate. Creating a data flow for each table is tedious and that's why I was looking out for a way to do it through import export wizard so that I don't have to create a separate data source and destination for each table in the Data
    flow Task.
Is there a way to loop through all tables and transfer data in SSIS without having multiple sources and destinations created for each table? This also involves a bit of transformation as well.

    Ashutosh.

  • Import/Export code using Memory ID in BO Method

    Hi experts,
I am having a approver name and other relevant data in my report. I don't want to write the entire code I want to bring it into my BO method by using import/export memory id. Pl. guide me what should I do ? Is it possible or not?
    Thank you,
    Saquib

I am a bit confused that what you are trying to achieve. In any case I think you can forget any export/import memory ID related solutions - they will not work!
The workflow (or its step/task) is executing your BO method, right? You want this method to have some data when it gets executed? Normally you would want to populate the data to the workflow (or task) container, for example with function SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER (you just need the work item ID). Then when this data is in the container, you can use it in your method (binding required).
Somehow I feel that you looking a difficult solution for a simple problem. If you need some relevant data in your workflow, let the workflow to find it (add a new step to the workflow, and copy/paste the relevant part of the code of your report to this step). (Or try to give the data to the workflow already when it gets started, if possible). Don't try to mix things with some separate report, unless it is completely necessary, and if it is, then writing into the container is most likely the best approach.
