Import of Designer Dump

Hi All !
I am facing problem while importing an oracle designer
repository. I have
followed following steps:
1. Created a user "U1"
2. Granted CONNECT, RESOURCE, IMP_FULL_DATABASE to user "U1"
3. Invoked Repository Administration Utility (RAU) and logged
as "U1"
4. Found button labeled "Check Requirements", "Install", "Remove
All
Objects", "Export" and "Import" enabled and rest buttons
disabled.
5. Clicked on button labeled "Remove All Objects" and removed
all the
objects of user "U1"
6. Clicked on button labeled "Import" and assigned dmp file to
import
(archive.dmp)
7. Import process started. Finally got following error message
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
RME-02124: Failed to execute SQL statement: select o.object_name,
o.object_type from user_objects o where o.status='INVALID' and
exists
(select 1 from sdd_reserved_names r where
r.rn_res_name=o.object_name and
r.rn_type=decode(o.object_type,'PACKAGE BODY','PACKAGE', 'TYPE
BODY',
'TYPE', o.object_type)) order by
decode(o.object_type,'VIEW',1,'PACKAGE','2','PACKAGE BODY',3,4)
8. When executed above SQL in SQL*PLUS, found table
sdd_reserved_names does
not exist
9. Got a message "Operation Complete"
10. Got following matter in created imp file (archive.imp)
during import
process

I tried to see if I could spot a particular bug that could the cause of the problem you are seeing. Unfortenately there are a number of possible candidates. I think you'll need to open a tar and provide the xsd(s) and some instance documents for us be able to confrim that the particular issue you have encountered is fixed and determine whether or not a patch is available to address this issue in 10.1.x
If you post the tar number here I'll take a quick look at this myself once you've uploaded a testcase

• Error while importing a container dump file

Hi,
I am trying to import a container from one Oracle Server to another server which are located at two different locations. I have exported the container from the first server and FTPed it to the second server and tried to import the same into the second server. While doing this, i got the following message:

Import terminated successfully with warnings.
I am able to import the same dump file into another server located in the same location as the Server One without any issues.
One thing that i have observed is: On the Server 2, if a container is already present and the XTSYS_ tables are already populated, when i tried to import this dump file, it asked me "Temporary tables are already populated. Do you want to overwrite them. Otherwise the existing temporaty tables will be used for this purpose". If i clicked No, then it imported the container without any problems, BUT, the new container contents are not the same as found on Server 1's container contents.
Can somebody suggest what could be the problem and how can i import that dump file.
thanks a lot in advance
regards,
Vijay

Vijay,
There is a note <Note:160378.1> on the Oracle Support site: http://metalink.oracle.com.
There are a number of possibilities, the most likely of these is that you are using the wrong import/export utilities for an older or newer database version.
You don't mention which release of Designer you are using, Designer 9i uses the 9.0.1 export/import utilities by default. You cannot use the 9.0.1 export/import utilities against an 8.1.7 database.
If not already installed, install the 8.1.7 export/import utilities from the Oracle 8i Release 3 (8.1.7) Client Cd into a new Oracle Home.
In the Registry, change [hklm]\software\oracle\HOMEx\repos61\EXECUTE_EXPORT
and EXECUTE_IMPORT to point to the 8.1.7 export/import utitilites.
(HOMEx corresponds to your Designer 9i Oracle Home)
A typical value for them would be:
EXECUTE_EXPORT=d:\des_817\bin\exp.exe
EXECUTE_IMPORT=d:\des_817\bin\imp.exe
or
EXECUTE_EXPORT=d:\V817\bin\exp.exe
EXECUTE_IMPORT=d:\V817\bin\imp.exe
After changing the parameters in the Registry, verify if they are active by going into the Repository Administration Utility, Check Requirements,
Parameter Settings and look for EXECUTE_EXPORT and EXECUTE_IMPORT.
Regards
Sue

• Import from Designer crashes with IMAGE data type

Hello,
I'd like to report an issue with Data Modeler while importing from Oracle Designer. If you consider this a bug, please let me know if I need to do anything else to request a fix for it.
I've used the import > Oracle Designer Model tool to import an application model. The import runs fine for a while, then crashes with a message "There are errors in import - check log file".
The application to be imported has 509 domains, 963 entities to import.
The summary info displayed after the import (when I close the error message pop up) is:
All statements: 1472
Imported statements: 538
Failed statements: 0
Not recognized statements: 934

I see the issue with the IMAGE data type in the log. The model to be imported does have domains and entities using this data type. The domain actually did get imported, but it shows as "Unknown" logical type, even though there is an Image type available in the Data Modeler type list. None of the entities using IMAGE got imported.
Please let me know if you can provide a fix or workaround for this (other than changing the format in Designer).
Thank you,
Beatriz.

Hello Beatriz,
definitely this is a bug. The problem with entities is not IMAGE data type it's supported there (it's overlooked for domains). The problem is volume information - Initial, Maximum, Average, Growth rate. No workaround for that.
Domain can be changed manually if it's just one affected.

• Need help for importing oracle 10G dump into 9i database

hi, Someone help me to import oracle 10G dump into 9i database. I'm studying oracle . Im using oracle 10G developer suite(downloaded from oracle) and oracle 9i database. I saw some threads tat we can't import the higher version dumps into lower version database. But i'm badly need help for importing the dump...
or
someone please tell me the site to download oracle 9i Developer suite as i can't find it in oracle site...

I didnt testet it to import a dump out of a 10g instance into a 9i instance if this export has been done using a 10g environment.
But it is possible to perform an export with a 9i environment against a 10g instance.
I am just testing this with a 9.2.0.8 environment against a 10.2.0.4.0 instance and is working so far.
The system raises an EXP-00008 / ORA-37002 error after exporting the data segments (exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions).
I am not sure if it is possible to perform an import to a 9i instance with this dump but maybe worth to give it a try.
It should potentially be possible to export at least 9i compatible objects/segments with this approach.
However, I have my doubts if this stunt is supported by oracle ...

• Export/Import full database dump fails to recreate the workspaces

Hi,
We are studying the possibility of using Oracle Workspace to maintain multiple versions of our business data. I recently did some tests with the import/export of a dump that contains multiple workspaces. I'm not able to import the dump successfully because it doesn't recreate the workspaces on the target database instance, which is an empty Oracle database freshly created. Before to launch the import with the Oracle Data Pump utility, I have the "LIVE" workspace that exists in the WMSYS.WM$WORKSPACES_TABLE table. After the import is done, there is nothing in that table...
The versions of the Oracle database and Oracle Workspace Manager are the same on source and target database:
Database version (from the V$VERSION view):
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
CORE     10.2.0.4.0     Production
TNS for 64-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
Workspace Manager version (from the WM_INSTALLATION view):
OWM_VERSION: 10.2.0.4.3
In order to recreate the tablespaces successfully during the full import of the dump, the directory structure for the tablespaces is the same on the target database's computer. I used the instructions given in this document, section "1.6 Import and Export Considerations" at page 1-19:
http://www.wyswert.com/documentation/oracle/database/11.2/appdev.112/e11826.pdf
Considering that the release of Oracle database used is version 10.2.0.4, I use the following command to import the dump since it doesn't contain the WMSYS schema:
impdp system/<password>@<database> DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir DUMPFILE=expfull.dmp FULL=y TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=append LOGFILE=impfull.log
The only hints I have in the import log file are the following block of lines:
1st one:
==============================
Traitement du type d'objet DATABASE_EXPORT/SYSTEM_PROCOBJACT/PRE_SYSTEM_ACTIONS/PROCACT_SYSTEM

end if ;
begin execute immediate 'insert into wmsys.wm$workspaces_table

2nd one at the end of the import process:

return ;
end if ;
execute immediate 'alter package wmsys.ltadm compile';
execute immediate 'alter packag
The target operating system is in french... here is a raw translation:

By the way, the computer of the source database is Vista 64 in english and the destination computer is Vista 64 in french, do you think this has anything to do with these error messages? The parameters of the NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS view are the same in the source and target database...

The call to the TO_DATE function with the string of the date format is incompatible with the format and language set in the NLS parameters of my database. Since I know that the "imp" and "exp" commands work client side (unlike "impdp" and "expdp"), I did a full export of the source database from the computer on which I try to import the dump to have the same language exported in the dump and I was able to import the dump successfully.
But, I would like to use the Data Pump tool instead of the old import and export tools. How would it be possible to set the NLS parameters that "impdp" must use before to launch the import of the dump?
The NLS parameters are set to the "AMERICAN" settings in both source and destination database when I validate that with the "NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS" view. The dump I did with "expdp" on the source database exported the data with the "AMERICAN" settings as well...
On the destination database, the computer language is in french and I guess it is considered by the Data Pump import tool since it outputs the log in the language of the computer and it tries to do a TO_DATE with the wrong date format because it works with the "CANADIAN FRENCH" settings...
Any suggestions? I'll continue to read on my side and re-post if I find the solution.
Thanks!

• Import directory of *.dump files into TimesTen, is it possible?

Hello,
I am migrating a bunch of tables from one TimesTen database to another. I have used SQL Developer to export the tables out using the ttbulkcp utility and am now looking at importing it into the other database. What is the best way to do this? All the examples I have seen for ttbulkcp show importing a single dump file, is there anyway to import a directory of dump files?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Thanks Chris, yep that was plan B, just wanted to make sure I wasn't reinventing the wheel.

i have a table pk16 in dev environment.
i was given a dump from oper environment to import to the table pk16.
condition is if the record exists in pk16 in dev then no import. if not found then import.
how can i do this..?
S

it is exported from export utility.
blueshadow.. i already imported into the temporary table pk16_tmp and i found so many mismatches between this two. so i need to import oper dump only when the record does not exist at all.
is there any option in imp command to append...?
i have a suggestion... i can import the oper dump into a temporaty table. then create a pk16_tmp.lst file from "select * from pk16_tmp" and load the data using sqlloader which will used for append.
what u guys suggest?

• 4.0 EA3 import from designer and database leads to differences in compare models

Hello,
I followed two ways to import a model in Data Modeler:
1 - an import from Oracle Designer
2 - an import from the database generated on basis from Oracle Designer
Then I compare the two models in Data Modeler, and found differences ...
One of the differences is in Table check constraints. The text is the same when viewing it in the compare model.
So I opened the corresponding XML files for the tables and compared the XML for the constraint text. And there are differences:
example:
<rule>(file_locatie is not null and file_naam_org is not null) or<br/>(file_locatie is null and file_naam_org is null)</rule>
<rule>(file_locatie is not null and file_naam_org is not null) or<br>(file_locatie is null and file_naam_org is null)</rule> <<-- designer
the design imported from designer contains br, the databse imported version contains br/
This should not be considered during comparision, or better: boths imports should use the same way of formatting.

The Rule specification is not re-formatted in Data Modeler code; it is stored as extracted from the database.
For Oracle Database, the Rule is extracted using SQL of the form SELECT search_condition FROM dba_constraints/all_constraints WHERE constraint_type = 'C';
For Oracle Designer, the Rule is extracted using SQL like SELECT txt_text FROM rm_text_lines WHERE txt_type = 'CDWHCL';
Are you able to tell how your Table Check Constraint is represented (with respect to the 'br') in your Database and Designer?

• Oracle Online Library's dmp cannot be imported to Designer 10g

I am member of Oracle Online Libray. I have studied the module "Oracle9i Designer New Features".
I download the zip file "Des9iNFeClassSetup.zip" and unzip the files.
I follow th instruction to import dmp file "nfRepository.dmp" but I encounter the following error after I import the dmp file:
RME-02105 Oracle error occurred
ORA-01986: OPTIMIZER_GOAL is obsolete
Any help is appreciated.

I tried to import the dmp file to Designer 9i Version 9.0.2.91.9 Release 9.0.2.4 and the import is successful after enabling Version Support.
I did the same using Designer 10g but with the import error.
I am going to export the repository from Designer 9i after import from the dmp file and see if the re-export dmp file can be imported into Designer 10g.

• How to import a data dump into Oracle express

Hi
Thank you for reading my post
how i can import a data dump which is a dump of my Schema in oracle 10g into oracle database express ?
indeed it is just 20 tables and one sequence that i exported from oracle 10g and i want to import it into my oracle express 10g
thanks

Hi,
I
1) export the data from your source database XE
C:\WINDOWS\system32>exp userid=USER1@XE1 file=user1.dmp
2) in the target XE database you would have to recreate the same user, e.g. USER1
3) run imp on the same dump file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>imp userid=USER1@xe2 file=user1.dmp full=yes ignore=yes
II
From DOS prompt make directory
DOS>md c:\oraclexe\tmp
DOS>cd c:\oraclexe\app\product\10.2.0\server\BIN
DOS>sqlplus SYS/Password AS SYSDBA
It is posible to be SYS/Password@SID AS SYSDBA
SQLPlus>CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY XMLDIR AS 'C:\oraclexe\Tmp';
SQLPlus>GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY XMLDIR TO property;
Go back to DOS prompt. There are two files - expdp.exe and impdp.exe in BIN directory.
DOS>expdp SYS/Password AS SYSDBA SCHEMAS=property DIRECTORY=XMLDIR DUMPFILE=property.dmp LOGFILE=property.log
From DOS prompt make directory
DOS>md c:\oraclexe\tmp
DOS>cd c:\oraclexe\app\product\10.2.0\server\BIN
DOS>sqlplus SYS/Password AS SYSDBA
It is posible to be SYS/Password@SID AS SYSDBA
SQLPlus>ALTER SYSTEM SET NLS_LENGTH_SIMANTICS='CHAR' SCOPE=BOTH;
SQLPlus>CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY dmpdir AS 'C:\oraclexe\Tmp';
SQLPlus>GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY XMLDIR TO public;
Go back to DOS prompt. There are two files - expdp.exe and impdp.exe in BIN directory.
DOS>impdp SYS/Password AS SYSDBA SCHEMAS=property DIRECTORY=XMLDIR DUMPFILE=property.dmp LOGFILE=property.log
There are so many treads about export and import in XE.
