Import rights problem

Hello. I'm having some trouble importing workstations. I receive the
following error in a zen log.

I've looked at the common errors TID where this shows up, tried it's fix and
the same error pops up. I've reinstalled Zen with all new objects but
nothing. DB is running and ServerPolicy has the correct rights to the
workstation container.
I'm running NW6.0.04 with Zen 3.2-noSP. Any ideas would be great.

Delete that entry, save and retry.
If that does not help, deselect eacg server package policy and then
delete the package. Recreate it.

The first option. That is where you create the necessary rights for
workstations to be created.

When i am migratin reports from QA to Prod i am getting this error "The Wizard encountered problems when importing object security information. Some information was not imported. Failed to import rights for: Everyone, Administrator, F_Advanced_Users, F_Basic_Users, F_Power_Users."
I don't understand what this is and would this lead to as of now i didnot have any complaints from users.
Could anyone help me out on this thanks...

Just to make sure I also upgraded NSM to latest 3.0.0.1
and it seems that the user home directory DOES get created & the inherited
rights of subolders are now correct & not altered

Access rights problem

I have set up two OID instances to talk between one another and think I have the mapping files correct.
I now see Insufficient Access Rights in the logs. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Does the exchange between servers run under a specific user?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware). Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths. For example:
Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad. In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result. Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind. The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

Is there a way to import rights protected ACC audio files into garage band?

that's part of what the DRM is there for, i'm afraid, and discussion about breaking the DRM is against the ToS here B-(>

Importing tga problem

I have several targa image sequences from a client. FCP (6.0.5) will import some but not others. The only difference I can find is that under "kind" in the get info window some are "tga image" and the others are "adobe photoshop targa file". The latter imports no problem, while the former give an error: "File Error 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or have run into this issue?
FWIW, I checked the fils in photoshop and they all have the same modes. They also all have the same file sequence naming structure.

Actually forgot to explain that the error I mentioned above occurs when I try to import just 1 of the targa files individually. If I try to import a sequence the number of errors changes to match the number of targas in the sequence. Sorry about the miscommunication. For the record, there are no other files inside the sequence folder(s) - just the targas.
Still haven't figured this out yet. Shake, Nuke, After Effects, Photoshop all open/import the files, but FCP will not.

Administrator rights problem Windows 2008 R2

Hello,
I have a problem on a Windows 2008 R2 server member of a workgroup. It seems to be a rights problem. I have the problem with all accounts (administrator, another account member of administrators group and any other new account created for testing member
of admin group or not).
When i click on the explorer button in the task bar, an error message is displayed and explorer is not launched : Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
Same message if i double-clic on explorer.exe in c:\windows folder. I can browse my computer by using the "my computer" in start menu.
When i launch internet explorer, it crash immediately, the window is closed.
If i launch the disk management console, i have a message : You do not have access right to Logical Manager
I have tryed to install the update KB2444677 and it fails with an access denied error.
UAC have always been disable but now i cannot launch c:\Windows\system32\UserAccountControlSettings.exe. When i double clic on the icon nothing happens.
I have disabled IE ESC but no change.
The problem occur also under safe mode.
Anybody have an idea about this problem ?

Java import statement problems

I have the book "Java in a Nutshell, 2nd ed" and have a query about a nested top-level interface example they have in the book.
Basically there's two files/classes. The first, LinkedList.java, is as follows:

Next is LinkedList.java as follows:

class LinkableInteger2 implements Linkable {

Now I thought the import statement had two forms - and both used a package name as part of the statement:
import package.class;
import package.*;
Obviously, neither class has a package statement.
As written, these classes do not compile. Am I right in assuming the lack of a package name is causing this problem, or is there something else going on here?

Since you don't have package statements in the files, the classes are being placed in the default package. You cannot explicitly import classes from the default package. Al classes in the default package, the java.lang package and the current package are always imported automatically. Your import statement is incorrect - remove it.

Importing CD problems

I have a new Dell desktop running win 7 pro with the latest ver of Itunes. I am in the process of loading my entire library (2000 CD's) into Itunes. Sometimes Itunes stops accepting CD's(CD is inserted but nothing happens..no error codes or notices) When this happens, I find that if I leave the CD in the drive and exit Itunes then start Itunes, I then see the "Quierying Gracenote..." message in the Itunes info box and the track info appears and I can start the import manually. Sometimes I will have to do this method for a few seccesive CD's and then everything works normally. Another odd thing also happens quite often: My import speed will usually be between 25x and 30x . The cd will start to import at 4x to 6x for about 5 seconds then stop for a second and ramp up to the 25x speed. For some reason this ramp up to 25x stops working. The CD's will still import but at a very slow rate 6x to 8x. I read in the support blogs that my CD's must be dirty or scratched or I must have error checking on. This is not the case, error checking is off and I have checked the CD's and they are pristeen. I can eventually get the high speed import to start working by shutting down or rebooting (doesn't work every time). It almost seems that certain CD's cause the drive to go into a "slow mode" and getting back to a "fast mode" is not always happening. I copied the diagnostic data right after I encountered the "not seeing the CD" problem.

I'm experiencing the same slow import for my DVD drive too for iTunes music -- it slows down to 2-4x read speed on some CDs when error correction is turned on. The max I've seen is 38x import speed, with error correction off. I imported a 2CD compliation with error correction on and then off for disk 1/2: disk 1 max 9x vs Disk 2 max 38x. I think error correction is the problem.
My import settings are AAC 320kps. Sometimes iTunes would complete freeze when importing with error correction and i need to do a reboot. I just did a complete fresh install of my whole system less than a week ago... It's running very clean.
I'm using Win7 64bit and interestingly enough nearly the identical drive: TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653F, Rev DW10

Powershell Import-SPWeb problem....

This is driving me nuts because it's such a simple thing that should just work. We are trying to export a site from one SC to another. The export works fine.   Here is the command I used:

I've tried this exporting to files with new names, some names with .cmp extension, (because I saw a few examples with that online), tried not specifying an extension name on the export, and so on. The files definitely exist and I've verified that there
aren't any trailing spaces on the end of the names.
I think the whole "file does not exist" is a complete red herring and the problem is completely different, but I can't figure out what.
I’m using my id that has both domain admin as well as farm admin, and we’ve even gone into the ISM folder and shared it with everyone with no luck. We’ve verified that the file exists and is spelled right. We’ve tried with –nofilecompression
as well as with out it. We’ve tried with different file extensions as well as with none. We've tried doing "Run as administrator" on Powershell. We’ve tried other things I’m sure but I’m starting to forget them.
Can you see what we are missing? This should be such a simple thing and I can’t figure out what is going wrong with it.

What I ended up doing was just using Central Admin to export the site, list or whatever. I used powershell Import-SPWeb. For some reason the powershell command is not functioning Export-SPWeb. Doing
it this way worked for me.

Import package problem

I am trying to import some classes into my java file.The path is as follows:
"c:\tinyos\tinyos-1.x\tools\java\net\tinyos\mcenter\treetable".I am importing the classes in the treetable package.
when I write import tinyos.tinyos-1.x.tools.java.net.tinyos.mcenter.treetable,a problem occur because of the folder tinyos-1.x. do you have any idea about this situation? :(

You are right, I cannot use "-" character in a Java identifier. In fact, you exactly point to the problem. The package I want to import is actually net.tinyos.mcenter.treetable. However, I have two similar "net" directories. their exact paths are as follows:
1. c:/tinyos/cygwin/home/tinyos/tinyos-1.x/tools/java/net
2. c:/tinyos/cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.x/tools/java/net
I need to import the classes in the first "net" directory. However, it tries to find the classes in the second path and gives errors. therefore, I need to specify them exactly or somehow distinct them.
Could you help me?

Aperture Import Date Problem

I'm importing photos and have noticed repeatedly that when I tell it to automatically split projects, it's not breaking them in the right place. It would appear that all photos before 11am are thrown onto the previous date. I have played with (and double-checked) the time zones and they appear to be in sync.
Tonight, I have discovered a new wrinkle to this. I'm rebuilding my database and I knew this problem was happening, so I've been manually (ugh!) choosing each group and putting it in the proper place. Now, I can see that the above is still happening, but now it's doing this:
For example, I have 10 images showing up as January 1st. The first 5 are really January 1st, but the next 5 are January 2nd before 11am. I download the first 5 images to a January 1st folder and when I go back to import, the next 5 are NOW showing up as January 2nd as they should have to start with.
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? I'm going SO crazy having to manually sort these in the right place. I'm on the first of 3 SD cards I need to import and it's going to be about 7 months of photos and 30gb of data. If anyone knows a solution, I'm all ears!
Oh, and I went to the genius bar last week about this with no luck. I'm hoping there's a solution out there now and that I don't have to just report it and wait for a bug fix...

To be honest while its something you want to avoid if at all possible its not the end of the world. I've been forced to do it on a number of occasions and haven't had anything really bad happen. Do you have a recent backup? That helps to relieve the anxiety
If you do force quit it make sure the very next thing you do is run a library repair. Hold own the option and command keys while starting Aperture to get the repair window. Once that is done (and it may take a while to run) and Aperture comes up look for a project Recovered Photos (or something like that, its been a while since the last time its happened to me) . If that is there there were images in your library that the repair function found but couldn't figure out where they belonged. You'll need to sort them out yourself.
Again, if you haven;t already, start a good backup routine for your libraries. That will go a long way towards alleviating your stomach distress

Importing video problem

I just recently made the big jump to using final cut pro. Right off the bat I'm having trouble with importing video. The camcorder connects and imports video fine with Imovie HD, but when i use final cut pro it says that there is no connection in the fire wire port therefore no camcorder to be connected to (but there is!). I'm using a canon hv40 tape camcorder. Some help on fixing this would be much appreciated!

Import preset problem

A warm welcome to the Import Preset; except I'm having a problem. I have saved a few presets but when I select them only the panels on the right are changed so I see, for example, Add (to) My Catalog and Develop Settings and Metadata are just as I have set them. BUT "Select a Source" says just that, when I'd like it to go to the folder from which I want it to import. BTW there is no card in the reader, this is just an import from a folder into the catalog.
Should the preset "remember" the folder to import from, or have I misunderstood?

No, only the "rest" of Import dialog. The concept is: a preset remembers "how to treat the files you are importing" from any location.

Import miniDV problems

When I use FCP X to import Digital 8 tapes from my Sony it worked fine.
I've now switched over to my miniDV tapes that were shot on a GL2. I'm using my HV20 to import them. As the import goes a black flash appears every 3-5 seconds and I can see the clips splits in the even like it start/stopped on tape. It will create a 100 of these if I let the capture continue.
When importing same tape and camera into iMovie or FCP 6 it works fine.
If I restart my brand new iMac 27" it will import longer before seeing the black flashes and clip splits, but eventually it will come back.
Any ideas? Just buggy software?

Try this:
Locate the individual files you imported with imovie. (Probably open imovie, right click > reveal in finder). Instead of importing the imovie project into FCPX, try dragging the individual movie clips from the finder into FCPX. If imovie does indeed keep the timecode date intact when capturing, this might solve your problem. I think when you go directly from imovie into FCPX, it's using iMovie's "date captured" metadata.
