Importing and adding to Taxonomy Text Values

Hi MDM experts,
I have loaded a taxonomy, attributes, attribute texts and linked the attributes to nodes in the taxonomy. I also have products associated to the taxonomy nodes.
I am now importing data to populate products with the values of the taxonomy attributes. Occasionally, there are new values for the taxonomy text of an attribute in the input file.
When I import the taxonomy text for an existing attribute which already has several text values, the new value wipes out all the current values, replacing them with the new value for the import.
For example, the attribute Primary Color has values red, green, yellow. I get a product which has a primary color of blue. When I map using the Taxonomy [Text Values], the only Text value I have left after importing is blue.
I am using the Update all mapped fields option. I tried the Replace option and got the same results.
Is there a way to import additional text values and have them add to the existing list of text values for an attribute? I am on MDM version 5.5.63.74.

Hi Sudhanshu,
You are correct. There is no way to populate an attribute that doesn't exist.
Here are my observations on importing product attribute data to MDM:
Import Manager
1. An input file that has an existing attribute that is not linked to the taxonomy node of the part will map but will not import. The error on import is 'One or more attribute values are invalid'.
2. A non-existing attribute will not map so you can't import data as long as the new attribute is in your input file.
Import Server
1. If there is an exiting attribute in the input file that is not linked to the part's taxonomy node, the import will fail with the error 'One or more attribute values are invalid'.
2. If there is a new attribute in the input file, the file will import. This tells me the import server just ignores the new attribute.
Since MDM does not have the concept of a free-form text attribute, the data for that attribute always needs to be added to the list of values for the attribute. This is what I was having a problem with. I found that if you set the Multi-Valued Update option in the Destination pane to Append, the value in the input file will be appended to the existing list of values for the attribute and then it can be used to populate the attribute on the part. (This requires 2 separate imports to populate the part attribute -- unfortunately).

Identifying a content control in a Word 2013 document and accessing the current "text" value of the control.

I'm new to VBA and need to better understand the syntax for identifying, accessing control "value" and setting the value from a user form.
My task is this, I have a word document containing the new Content Controls. I need to be able to access each individual control to initialize a UserForm control. I then need to update the "values of the controls on exiting the UserForm. Can someone
proved some simple sample code showing this functionality? I have surmised that the "range" attribute holds the value of the control but I need the textual or logical value of the control.

What's content control you are using? Based on my understanding, we can indentify the content control by its tag and get the value of content control and initialize the control on the userform in the initialize event of userform. For example,
code below is that get the text of rich text content control:

What did you mean "I then need to update the "values of the controls on exiting the UserForm."? Did you mean that when the values of content control is changed, it should update the control on the user form which was open before?
As far as I know, there is no such event suitable for this secnario. If you want content control to support this event, I suggest that you submit the feedback from the "Smile Face" at the top right corner of Word.

Subtitles, extracting from old, and importing and adding another to a new dvd

I need to add spanish subtitles, in addition to the already existing English subtitles, to a redited timeline. The English subtitles are made in DVD Studio Pro. I have read the DVD Studio Por manual. I DO NOT find the answers I need in there. I have done the Apple DVD SP Training Series. That does not even come remotely close to answering these questions. I tried extracting them with DVDSP Subpick, it says Wrong Code. I tried Subtitle Xtractor and it does not open item in item description, reporting only "Error while loading file: Error in Line 1 Error in NODe". Though it says one can open just the subtitle stream, I dont see any directions to tell one how to open just the subtitle stream either. I tried Text Up 2-1 and it says "file error wrong type" .
I cannot fins assets timecode as it says to do iin the manual. I foloow the directions, right click on the timeline but it does not show me any shortcut menu with assets code on it. I cannot find any directions as to how to save teh subtitles to STL, or txt for that matter. I cannot tell how I have saved this DVDSP subtitle stream, and I have already burned the dvd. I need to add spanish subtitles and I would love to not have to start over from scratch, but so far, it looks like I will have to do that. I am pressed for time. Any help from anyone?

There is no method of exporting a subtitle stream to a STL file from a DVD Studio Pro project file.
You can export the stream as a DVD Studio Pro asset and import it into another project; however, you would have to manually replace the English with corresponding Spanish. Furthermore, you are likely to find that the Spanish subtitles do not correspond card for card with the English due to inherent differences in the languages.
Ideally, you would have acces to the English STL document or, better yet, a translation spreadsheet (if one existed in the first place) that you could reformat for import into DVDSP.

Problems importing and adding, files and folders

When I try to add a folder to my itunes library the little box pops up like it is importing it but when its done the songs are not in the library,and no where to be found. And if I try to add the folder again it doesn't do anything! I tried adding just a file instead of the whole folder, and also tried to import them and it does the same thing. It is doing it on my Desktop as well as my laptop! It has got me really frustrated. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am running the current version of itunes (7.1.1)
My desktop uses XP and my laptop uses Vista

Im having a similar problem, I just bought a new lap with windows vista and installed the last version of itunes.
I try to add all the folder in which I stored all my music(9500 songs), that is an external usb hard drive . When I add the file that contains all the music, itunes start to work but after a few songs it suddenly stops and you cant not do anything else ,the only option is to close it.
I tried several times, I unsitall and istall itunes several times and happens the same. I also remove the song in which itunes stops and again happens the same. i wonder if someone could help me. Or if there is some kind of incompatibility between itunes and windows vista.
that same procedure is th one i follow in my old computer with winodows xp sp2a no problem. I also verify the properties of my nusic folder and there suppose to be no problem with the privilegs

Not able to import Attribute Text Values in Taxonomy table

Hi Experts,
I have an excel file with 54K records of Attribute text values need to import in to taxonomy table. my excel file has 3 fields like ID, Name, Text Values. While mapping the fields in feild mapping grid, I have mapped ID field with Attribute Alias, Name with Attribute name, Text Value with Text Value and clone field of Text Value with [Text Value Remote Key]. Based on the field mapping I was trying to map values for ID filed with Attribute Alias field. Here I found Attribute Alias field has values in destination grid which were imported before for Attribute Name ID's in to the Alias field for attribute names.
Here I found these values are different when I tried to map these values and the Value map buttons(Automap/Map/Add) were disabled.
in the same way I tried with out maping the values for Attribute value id and selected the Attribute Alias field as value mapping field. but here in the import actions tab the records are active and disabled the import action option.
so I have executed the import process, but no attribute text values were imported in to Taxonomy table.
I am using the MDM 7.1 with build version 7.1.01.46.
Please let me know if anyone came across this situation.

How can I lookup text values in a column and display a list of corresponding names from another column, sorted by values?

My spreadsheet looks like this:

I would like to create a spreadsheet for each day that will display the values sorted by time, as follows (e.g. Monday):

Here's an example, using the provided data:
I've set the alignment on Main to Automatic (except for row 1) to distinguish between numeric and quasi numeric values (aligned right) and text (aligned left). This is a visual aid to developing the table, and would likely be changed for appearance in the end version.
Columns E, F and G of Main are index columns listing the RANK of numeric/date and time values in columns A, B and C respectively. Text values cause RANK to throw an error, which is caught by IFERROR, which returns a value of 999, chosen to be well above any of the RANK values returned. A small amount ( ROW()/100000 ) is added to each result to prevent duplicate results is cases like column D, where duplicate times appear.
Formula: Main::E2: =IFERROR(RANK(B2,B,1),999)+ROW()/100000
Fill down the column, and right to column G.
These columns may be hidden.
The three daily columns use a single formula each, revised to match the index columns from which they determine the row containing each piece of data to be copied, and to match the columns from which they retrieve that data. You will be returned anything that is in the option's value parameter. What is displayed in the dropdown and what is put in the value attribute do NOT need to be the same, so maybe you should start there.

Calculated Field to return a text value

I'm trying to create a calculated field that will hit on keywords in folder names and return a value based on the keyword found. Obviously the folder name is contained in the "Name" field on my sharepoint site but how do I write a formula that
will look for a specific word or phrase and return an assigned text value?
Example: Name field contains a list of folders (see the name list below). I want the formula to search for "AAA" and return value "XYZ", I want to search for "BBB" and return value "ABC",and I want to search
for "CCC" and return a null field.

So we're all clear what I'm up against; right now I have a total of 45 folders (soon to be more) that I want to cut down to 5 or 6 after grouping by the returned value generated by the calculated field. I have zero experience and I'm not a formula or a code

allows less hands-on maintenance I am guessing you'd probably prefer to use
that solution. So I'd like to take one more stab at it if you will bear with me
For your case, I created a new document library so I could test out the calculation.
By default there were a number of columns created.
One of them was the "Name" column which is also a hyperlink ( I beleive this is the column you are trying to use for the calculation)
There is also by default a column named "Title"
I used the "Title" column for my example because it is the same text as the folder's "Name" Column
I created a calculated field called "Calculated Group" and
added the calculation

Importing and maintaining tag structure

I recently had to reload Windows due to a bad hardware driver or bad patch from MS, not sure which. Anyway, I'm now going through trying to restore my Elements catalog. I tried just opening the catalog file and I received an error, and was also unable to repair. Since I KNOW that my watch folders didn't work 5% of the time, I know I can't trust my backups. So, I'm trying to restore by creating a new catalog and having it import my photo directory which was on a separate drive. When I import, all of my keyword tag levels are "flattened". Instead of having categories->subcategories->tags, I now just have tags.
Is there a way to import and maintain the other levels of structure?

What did you try (exactly how did you try to open the catalog file) and exactly what error message appeared?
     I tried just double-clicking the file, as well as going through Elements convoluted File -> Catalog -> menus.
No clue what watched folders have to do with backups.
     Really? Think about it. I dump a bunch of photos into a watch folder, some or none of them get imported and added to the catalog. Unless I manually go through and add them, the next backup (via PSE backup function) will not include those files. If I need to restore, those files are now missing.
I would never advise this unless all attempts to open the previous catalog file have failed. This is a last resort. Information will be lost compared to what existed in the previous catalog file. Your flattened folder structure is just one piece of information that is lost. Categories and sub-categories are lost. I suspect that there might be some photos where the tags are missing. None of your albums/collections, version sets, stacks will come through if you re-import.
     Exactly my predicament.
In the future, regular backups (that you can trust) of both your catalog file and photos, to a different physical disk, should be considered mandatory.

Your problem starts here:
Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Textframes.Item
...which item? Item takes either an integer (the index of the item) or a string (the contents of the label property, if any).
Next, however, is that you should be more specific about *where* the text frame is in the document. What page or spread is it on? Let's say that the frame "DepthMarker" is on page 1:
Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Pages.Item(1).TextFrames.Item(1)
If there's only one frame on that page, you're in great shape. If not, you need to come up with some way to differentiate one frame from another. Script labels are a great way to do this. Let's say you've used the Script Label panel to add the label "DepthMarker" to the relevant frame on page 1, and added the label "WarningText" to another frame. In that case, you'd use something like this:

Set WarningText = myDocument.Pages.Item(1).TextFrames.Item("WarningText")(0)
...When you use a string to refer to a page item by its label, InDesign returns an array, so you need to get the first item in the array (assuming that there's only one page item on the page with that label).

Script to search all files in specified folder for multiple string text values listed in a source file and output each match to one single results txt file

I have been searching high and low for this one. I have a vbscript that can successfully perform the function if one file is listed. It does a Wscript.echo on the results and if I run this via command using cscript, I can output to a text file
that way. However, I cannot seem to get it to work properly if I want it to search ALL the files in the folder. At one point, I was able to have it create the output file and appear as if it worked, but it never showed any results when the script
was executed and folder was scanned. So I am going back to the drawing board and starting from the beginning.
I also have a txt file that contains the list of string text entries I would like it to search for. Just for testing, I placed 4 lines of sample text and one single matching text in various target files and nothing comes back. The current script
I use for each file has been executed with a few hundred string text lines I want it to search against to well over one thousand. It might take awhile, but it works every time. The purpose is to let this run against various log files in a folder and
let it search. There is no deleting, moving, changing of either the target folder/files to run against, nor of the file that contains the strings to search for. It is a search (read) only function, going thru the entire contents of the folder and
when done, performs the loop function and onto the next file to repeat the process until all files are searched. When completed, instead of running a cscript to execute the script and outputting the results to text, I am trying to create that as part
of the overall script. Saving yet another step for me to do.
My current script is set to append to the same results file and will echo [name of file I am searching]: No errors found. Otherwise, the
output shows the filename and the string text that matched. Because the results append to it, I can only run the script against each file separately or create individual output names. I would rather not do that if I could include it all in one.
This would also free me from babysitting it and running each file script separately upon the other's completion. I can continue with my job and come back later and view the completed report all in one. So
if I could perform this on an entire folder, then I would want the entries to include the filename, the line number that the match occurred on in that file and the string text that was matched (each occurrence). I don't want the entire line to be listed
where the error was, just the match itself.
Example: (In the event this doesn't display correctly below, each match, it's corresponding filename and line number all go together on the same line. It somehow posted the example jumbled when I listed it)

Those are just random fake examples for this post.
This allows me to perform analysis on a set of files for various projects I am doing. Later on, when the entire search is completed, I can go back to the results file and look and see what files had items I wish to follow up on. Therefore, the
line number that each match was found on will allow me to see the big picture of what was going on when the entry was logged.
I actually import the results file into a spreadsheet, where further information is stored regarding each individual text string I am using. Very useful.
If you know how I can successfully achieve this in one script, please share. I have seen plenty of posts out there where people have requested all different aspects of it, but I have yet to see it all put together in one and work successfully.

I'm sorry. I was so consumed in locating the issue that I completely overlooked posting what exactly I was needing help with. I did have one created, but I came across one that seemed more organized than what I originally created. Later
on I would learn that I had an error in log location on my original script and therefore thought it wasn't working properly. Now that I am thinking that I am pretty close to achieving what I want with this one, I am just going to stick with it.
However, I could still use help on it. I am not sure what I did not set correctly or perhaps overlooking as a typing error that my very last line of this throws an "Expected Statement" error. If I end with End, then it still gives same
results.
So to give credit where I located this:

I then adjusted it for what I was doing.
What this does does is it searches thru log files in a directory you specify when prompted. It looks for words that are contained in another file; objFile2, and outputs the results of all matching words in each of those log files to another file: errors.log
Once all files are scanned to the end, the objects are closed and then a message is echoed letting you know (whether there errors found or not), so you know the script has been completed.
What I had hoped to achieve was an output to the errors.log (when matches were found) the file name, the line number that match was located on in that file and what was the actual string text (not the whole line) that matched. That way, I can go directly
to each instance for particular events if further analysis is needed later on.
So I could use help on what statement should I be closing this with. What event, events or error did I overlook that I keep getting prompted for that. Any help would be appreciated.
